Summary: Elijah has arrived home and is trying to work
out a way to talk to Dom.
Elijah thought
something was wrong the moment he saw Dom’s face at the airport, and so far
everything had only confirmed that. He’d smiled and hugged him, and Dom’s
response had been less enthusiastic than it usually was. Elijah had clung to
him nonetheless, trying to create conversation, already regretting Franka.
Affection out of guilt as much as relief at being home again. Dom would nod,
perhaps a slight smile, but there was something else there. It made Elijah
nervous as hell.
There were more
awkward silences in the car trip home than there was conversation. Dom stuck to
formalities, asking how filming had gone, were they happy with it, etc. Nothing
you wouldn’t expect from a cab driver you didn’t know.
They arrived home and
Dom carried his bags in without a word. Elijah followed, feeling suddenly like
a stranger. A weird feeling in his own place.
Dom put Elijah’s bag
down and turned to face him. There it was again, Elijah thought. That flicker
of something that didn’t belong. Instinctively he moved forward and put his
arms around Dom’s waist, hugging him tightly, burying his face against Dom’s shoulder.
Hmm, Dom smell, familiar and warm.
“I missed you.”
He felt Dom tense and
bit his lip. Crying now would not be good. Instead he held tighter, tilting his
head up, kissing the underside of Dom’s jaw. Dom finally responded, putting his
arms around him like he really didn’t want to.
“It’s good to be
home.”
“Is it?”
Elijah froze,
clutching handfuls of Dom’s jumper. He kissed Dom’s throat, sucking gently, all
the while his brain going what to say,
what to say, what to say. He wanted to say “I love you” but knew if he
tried to speak he’d cry, so he just kept kissing that soft, familiar skin.
Trying to say it without words.
Dom pushed him back
and looked at him, a strange look he couldn’t read. Elijah kissed his lips,
parting them with his own. Dom didn’t respond, not until Elijah whimpered into
his mouth and pulled him closer, hip pushing into his groin.
Dom wrapped his arms
around him and kissed him hard, pushing his tongue deep into his mouth. Elijah
grunted, opening his mouth wider, surprised and relieved at this sudden burst
of emotion. He clung to Dom as they staggered to the bed, slipping off shoes as
they went, Dom pushing him down and climbing on top of him.
Elijah tried to take
Dom’s face in his hands, tried to look into his eyes. Dom wouldn’t meet his
gaze but kissed him again, hard and brutal. Elijah felt teeth on his lip and
tasted blood.
Dom broke away,
gritted his teeth and yanked Elijah’s jacket off his shoulders, pinning his
arms to his sides. He bit Elijah’s shoulder near the base of his neck and
Elijah cried out in shock. Dom didn’t bite, ever. Before he had time to
understand Dom was pushing his legs apart with his own thigh, grinding it hard
and painfully against Elijah’s groin.
It both shocked and excited
him. He wasn’t sure if it was a good idea, but he was enjoying it – and that
hit him. He had to stop that, had to stop doing things without thinking purely
because they felt good. They needed to talk because clearly there was something
up, and Elijah suspected it was the Franka thing. Sex was only prolonging the
inevitable. It probably wasn’t going to help.
“Dom, wait…” He tried
to push Dom up off him, just to pause, to talk. Dom stopped and met his gaze,
just for a moment.
He had the fiercest
eyes when he wasn’t smiling. Fierce and dark. He wasn’t smiling now and all
Elijah’s courage fled. He wanted his smiling Dom back. His Sblomie. His eyes
searched Dom’s and he faltered. All he could say was “I missed you”.
Dom set his jaw and
Elijah wondered for a moment if he’d said the wrong thing.
“Did you?”
“Yes.”
“How much?”
Elijah grabbed Dom by
the hair and kissed him deep, and meant it. He couldn’t find the words right
now so this would have to do.
Dom’s fingers fumbled with
Elijah’s jeans. Dom sat up long enough to yank them off and unzip his own, then
he was on Elijah again, pushing him onto his side, straddling his naked thigh.
Dom shoved him down
and entered him before he was ready, deep and quick. Elijah gasped as Dom began
fucking him, breathless words knocked from his body with each thrust.
“Dom…no…wait, stop…”
Dom said nothing, just
fucked him hard and deep.
Sometimes they made
love for hours, sometimes they just had rough, quick fucks. This was different.
It was nothing sex, emotionless sex. Just a physical need, cold and
disconnected.
“Dom…you’re hurting
me…”
He felt Dom’s strong
hands grip his upper arms tighter, holding him down. Elijah realised with a
shock this was Dom’s way of punishing him.
“Please…Sblomie…stop…”
Dom made a sound, a
low painful sound, and slammed into Elijah hard. Elijah clenched his teeth,
biting back a cry before having it torn from his throat with Dom’s final
thrust.
Dom finished with a
grunt, then simply got up and left. Elijah lay there, panting, half-wanting;
unsatisfied and frightened.
He swallowed and got
up. The bathroom door was closed and locked.
“Dom?”
No answer. He got
angry and banged his fist on the door, confident now with a physical barrier
between them.
“DOM?! What the hell
was that?”
Still no answer. He
shivered and decided to put on clothes. Then he went back to the door.
“Dom?”
Nothing, for a moment,
then…a quick-drawn breath, a whimper. He leant his head against the door, pushing
against it with his hands.
“Dom, please open the
door,” he said gently. “It’s okay, Sblomie. Just open the door.”
“It’s not,” Dom said,
his voice thick and choked. “It’s not okay.”
“Please, can’t we talk
about this?”
“Fuck off,” Dom
sobbed, his voice cracking. “Just…fuck off, I don’t know what to say to you
right now.”
Dom was just on the
other side of the door, Elijah knew. He slumped to his knees and felt a stab of
pain inside. He should be angry after what Dom had just done, but part of him felt
he deserved it.
“Dom, I love you…”
“Don’t say that to me.
Don’t you fucking say that to me.”
“I do.”
“So what’s she, then?”
Dom spat angrily. “What is she? Why?”
“It was…nothing, it
was just…I was lonely…”
Dom laughed, a harsh
bitter laugh.
“Why didn’t you come
and visit me?” yelled Elijah suddenly. “I missed you, I told you, why didn’t
you come?”
No answer.
“Sblomie?”
“You know they didn’t
want me hanging around,” he said quietly.
“I don’t care about
that. I needed you.”
“Needed me so much you
fucked someone else?”
“No, it’s not like
that!”
He heard Dom start
sobbing again, and it started him crying too.
“I’m sorry...”
“So am I,” Dom said
bitterly. “Should have known it wouldn’t last.”
That cut deep. Elijah
leant against the door, trying to breathe. His chest tightened and he couldn’t
speak, only choked sobs came out. IDIOT!
his mind screamed at him. Idiot, idiot,
idiot! You don’t deserve him anyway.
“Dom…” he let go and
just cried, sobbing like a child.
Neither of them spoke
for a while. They could hear each other crying, but there was more than the
door between them.
Then after about ten
minutes Elijah spoke.
“Dom?”
“What?” Dom’s voice
was tired.
“Open the door.”
He heard a sigh.
“Please.”
The door opened and
Dom just looked at him for a long, quiet moment. He wasn’t smiling, but his
eyes weren’t fierce anymore.
“I hurt you, didn’t
I?” he said softly.
“Yes.”
“I’m sorry.”
Elijah swallowed. “I
know.”
“I didn’t want to. I
didn’t want anything.”
Elijah tilted his
head, peering at him. “So why did you?”
“You wanted it. I just
wanted to get it over and done with.”
“Sblomie…” he started
to cry again.
Dom swallowed hard,
wincing, and held out his arms. “Come here you stupid bastard.”
Elijah managed a smile
through his tears and went into Dom’s arms. Familiar territory too, but better
than anything else he could imagine. He closed his eyes trying not to think of
what an idiot he was.
They held each other tight
as if each was afraid the other was going to run away. Dom pulled him down onto
the floor and they sat there, leaning against the bath, Elijah slumped against
Dom’s chest. He still couldn’t think of anything to say and gave up, letting
Dom’s heartbeat soothe him. He almost dozed off. The tiles were cold but he
didn’t want to move.
“We’ve got a lot to
talk about,” said Dom softly. Elijah closed his eyes, head still on Dom’s
chest, feeling his voice.
“Yeah.”
“Where are we Liji?”
“Dunno.”
Dom squeezed him
gently.
“I do love you,”
sighed Elijah.
“Yeah, love you too.”
“Even though I’m an
idiot.”
Dom sighed. “Probably
because you’re an idiot.”
“Sblomie…”
He could feel Dom’s
lips pressed into his hair, felt him take a deep shuddering breath. Neither of
them spoke for a long time.
“I really thought we
had something, mate,” Dom said at last.
“I still do.”
Dom kissed the top of
his head. “Is this going to happen again?”
Elijah swallowed. “It wasn’t…it
never meant anything. She wanted it and I just let her have what she wanted. I
didn’t think. It was just a bit of fun and I didn’t think.”
“You really are an
idiot.”
“Yeah.”
“Well…” Dom slid his
hand under Elijah’s jaw and tilted his head up, looking into his eyes. “It
can’t happen again, because…” he swallowed and shook his head. “That’s not the
sort of relationship I want. I won’t stay.”
“I know,” Elijah
sniffed. “I wouldn’t expect you to.”
He bit his lip as they
looked at each other, Dom stroking his face.
“I’m sorry.”
Dom kissed his nose
wearily. “Yeah, I know, shut up.”
“Give me another
chance?”
Dom shook his head and
hugged him. “I think I have to.”
