freetoed Appearances

Upcoming Shows

January 12, 2002 --- ST. FRANCIS DeSALES

SETLIST: Drive, Rolling Home, Sleepy/Hazel, Mulberry Lane, Rockin' in the Free World

NOTES: First very public appearence with Travis in the band. Awesome intro with the curtains opening during the slam in in Drive. Band definetly on. They really got the previously mundane crowd rockin bobbin and dancin. They got em hot for the next acts on the bill Blank Idea and Full Range. If you are looking for more on this show there is a bootleg video in circulation. This is the first official freetoed gig.

May 1, 2002 --- LZHS Battle of the Bands

SETLIST: Drive and Mulberry Lane

NOTES: They may have come up empty handed, that is to say they were not rewarded with an outrageous sum of money as Blank Idea and Audio Pollution were. War was not declared, nor were some sexy freetoed bottoms flashed at Audio Pollution during their sweet, sweet set, no my friends...they hardcore jammed...and a great jam it was. A few words...Nick is one crazy dude...and he dances like a hippie.

June 29, 2002 --- Uncle Bob and Aunt Lauri's, Graduation Party for Kylee

SETLIST:

NOTES: Getting ready with their newly assigned bassist, Chase, freetoed looks a little rusty, but they still are their loose crazy selves. Soundchecking at least five times with a surprise "Jessy's Girl", freetoed knows how to show love to their fan community. A lot of old covers are pulled out from the archives, including "Betterman" and "Given to Fly", two Pearl Jam favorties. Getting ready for the next day.

June 30, 2002 --- Uncle Don and Aunt Kathy's, Graduation Party for Megan

SETLIST: (SET 1) Drive, Down on the Corner (CCR), Given to Fly (Pearl Jam), Learning to Fly (Tom Petty), Rolling Home, Let My Love Open the Door (Pete Townshend), Knockin on Heaven's Door (Bob Dylan), I Got Shit (Pearl Jam), Hazel, Rocking in the Free World (Neil Young)(SET 2) Baba O'Reilly (The Who), Samba, Run (Collective Soul), 4 AM (Our Lady Peace), I Shall Be Released (Bob Dylan), Patriot (Steve Van Zandt), Mulberry Lane

NOTES: Another graduation show in the bag. freetoed is on today. Once again surprising cover comebacks like "Let My Love Open the Door" and "Knockin on Heaven's Door", lots of door songs, am I right? "Down on the Corner" and "Learning to Fly", a couple newbies, creep their way in the setlist, seems like they're here to stay. "Samba" makes its live debut, and even "Hazel" makes an appearance. Each song is played with so much passion. Overall, great show.

July 4, 2002 --- Patriotic Jam Fest

SETLIST: (SET 1)Down on the Corner (CCR), Learning to Fly (Petty), Smile (Pearl Jam), Hazel, Baba O'Reilly (The Who), I Shall Be Released (Dylan), Rolling Home, I Got Shit (Pearl Jam), Betterman (Pearl Jam), Rocking in the Free World (Neil Young)(SET 2) Let My Love Open the Door (Pete Townshend), Given to Fly (Pearl Jam), 4 AM (Our Lady Peace), Samba, Run (Collective Soul), Knockin on Heaven's Door (Dylan), Mulberry Lane, Patriot (Steve Van Zandt)

NOTES: Yes, ladies and gentlemen, its here again, the 3rd Annual Patriotic JamFest at Uncle Don's. Complete with pool and a whole lotta fun. First off, Adam comes complete with a newly shaven mohawk, really workin it. Its here that freetoed shows their true colors. Beef Bakalar once again steps in on harmonica on "Mulberry Lane" as Nick rests and focuses on his sweet electro-leads. "Patriot" finally closes it all out again, featuring Chase with an added funk bass solo. They are totally on and are awaiting the next golden JamFest, the 4th on the 4th, crazy.

July 14, 2002 --- Back to the Office

SETLIST: Samba, Hazel, Rolling Home, Mulberry Lane, Rocking in the Free World (Neil Young)

NOTES: Well, not too many freetoed fans knew if this show would happen... not even freetoed knew. But early Sunday morning they got a call and were asked to open for Audio Pollution and Blank Idea. They eagerly agreed and threw together a short but rockin 5 song set. The gig was tripled booked (9 bands showed up) making the set shorter but freetoed managed to pack a full day's worth of energy into their half hour set. Hopefully, the guys will be playing here again in the near future.

August 17, 2002 --- Foodtopia Grand Opening Battle of the Bands

SETLIST: Samba, Rest, I Got Shit (Pearl Jam), Hazel II, Rolling Home, Closed Door, Rockin in the Free World (Neil Young), Drive, Mulberry Lane

NOTES: Well, this time the freetoed boys came up far from empty handed. With the help of yet another new face on the bass, Pat the Hip Cat, Bowler the band pulled off a great set to take home a cash prize at Foodtopia's Grand opening and may have earned a chance to play there more often. The Boys were decked out in shirts and ties... playing outside in the blitzering heat of the Foodtopia parking lot. They were dressed to impress, and the music wasn't too shabby either. They opened with a solid showing of Samba followed by the brand new "Rest"! Maybe they should have kept that one in the bag until next time cause Steve clearly had no idea what was going on and the band had to skip the last half of the song to follow suit. Adam made a joke and told everyone that the drummer was Steve in a mocking tone to which Steve raised his hand and let the crowd know he was to blame. No matter, the boys got back on track with a solid cover of "I Got Shit". "Hazel II" appears with its all new lyrics, definitely sounds good, followed by a sweet rendition of "Rolling Home". Then they whipped out another new one, "Closed Door", which they pulled off beautifully. Adam tagging Dave Matthews Band's "Grace is Gone" to the end, very emotional. As if that weren't enough the boys attacked "Rockin in the Free World" ferociously with Nick and Adam trading off solos. Adam debuts the behind the head solo with a whole SHIBANG of flair and the crowd loves it. The Boys look to have pumped the life back into "Drive" and play it to near perfection. Then the closer "Mulberry Lane". It's a quick version with Steve lookin a little nervous, maybe it's cause after nick's harmonica HOO RAH RAH Steve performs the first drum solo of his short drumming career. It was a solid effort. Little double bass rollin and such... I'm sure we'll see more in the future. And then it was done. The judges comments, "originality, preparation, and presentation" were what sealed the deal. Freetoed cannot thank Pat Bowler enough for stepping up on this one. The punk pop guitarrist turned rock bassist held his own and then some and his contribution should not go unnoticed. If you see this man show him some love, will ya?
