Some of you out there may be wondering how anyone could be upset over and try to ban a simple children's story. I, like you, think this is crazy and incrediby wrong. No one has the right to tell anyone else what they cannot read. And so now I give my thoughts on a couple reasons as to why some people are trying to have this series banned from school libraries.

First and most obvious is the magic in it. Some people may feel that the magic is unnecessary to children's literature and should not be written about. I don't see what the big deal is. It's not like we can hop a bus to London and tap the third brick up and enter Diagon Alley. Or can we??? Are these banners really witches and wizards whose secrets have been told to J.K. Rowling and now revealed to the rest of the world? Will they be destroyed if we don't stop reading about them?? Give me a break.

What else?? Ah, yes. Evil. The issue of dark magic vs. good magic has some people quaking in their boots. They probably feel that children do not need to know about evilness. Well, there is evil in our world. You can't have a book without a villian. The villians in the Harry Potter series all have something to do with Dark Magic. It's not like children are going to start looking for entrances into a chamber of secrets hidden in thier school. PUH-LEASE!!!

Do I sound annoyed to you?? I am of the strong belief that people of all ages should be able to choose thier own books. The media today has put way more violence into our TV shows than will ever be read about in any book. I feel everybody should be able to choose for themselves. If you try the series, but don't like it, that's fine, just don't try to stop other people from reading it.

If you happen to be someone who believes these books should be banned, let me know and give me your reasons why and I'll be glad to post them here. Just don't send me any hate mail. :-)
