The Banshee
The Banshee,or bean sidhe, is the spirit which attaches herself with a certain family to warn of the forth-coming death of a family member. Her wailing and cries are said to be quite terrifying.
There are stories of the Washer at the river, who washes blood-stained garments, her eyes rimmed red from crying.To see her is an omen of war.
I think the McCrary/Fulkerson banshee takes the form of lonely noises, like the sound of a jet flying over on a quiet afternoon. The sound of a train whistle miles away in the night, the hooting of an owl...but the sound always carries with it the realization that someone we love will be leaving us.
