On California Street, here in Wichita Falls, there is an old, art-deco building that was once the home of some of the insane of our city.It is sometimes called Dr. White's Sanitorium. Tales of torture and abuse abound concerning the treatment of the patients, things that have left their mark on the building. It's said that there were manacles and chains in the basement, some of which I and others have seen. I never saw any of the other things whispered about,such as the wild-haired woman in white.
The old asylum is now an exclusive apartment building. I've yet to hear if the newest residents have met any one... unusual.
