All pups from Mischief X Joe litter have found permanent homes. The litter shown below is from a cross between Mischief and Joe. Mischief is a daughter of Monty that was raised on our farm. Her primary job is keeping my little sister out of trouble, but she also helps my parents take care of the livestock. She is gentle on all the livestock even the baby goats and always seems to know when she should help on the livestock and when she should stay out of the way. She works in the open in a calm and collected manner without upsetting the animals. In fact, on a good day, you don't realize she is doing anything but hanging out with the livestock, but the moment one animal tries to head the wrong direction she has it turned around and back with the group. Mischief truly shines while working in the small pen and chute though. She keeps a parameter between whoever is in the pen and the cattle. She calmly and steadily works them into the trailer or headgate and can get fierce as a little devil if a cow tries to back out of the chute from the trailer. Rose Marie almost refuses to work cattle in the small pens and chutes if Mischief isn't around because she doesn't feel safe without her there. She is the alpha female among our dogs and has a calm but dominate personality. The picture above was taken about three weeks ago, while she was three weeks into nursing the fat healthy litter below. The sire, Joe, is from a farm in North Carolina. We were looking for a male that was structurally sound and possessed an interest in working livestock, but did not become overzealous. We wanted a dog that could be gentle on the smaller livestock like goats, but still aggressive with the larger, meaner cows. Joe has matched all those characteristics so far. He was started on small stock at the time we purchased him and has continued work at home. We would like to thank Bayfield Farms for breeding such a fine dog and having his training started so well. It should be noted that he is much stronger in the open or large pens than doing work in tight locations and small pens. He has a gorgeous conformation. He is very square, has a very strong topline, and moves out well. The most noteworthy point about Joe is that he has an incredible "want to please" attitude that he passes on to his progeny. The concept behind this cross was to get pups with a strong working instinct that were fast and eager learners. Both Joe and Mischief are ASCA registered and have been DNA profiled. Some of the puppies shown have already found homes. Please call for more information or to reserve a specific puppy.
The black tri male, who is shown to the right of his black tri sister in the pictures above, has found a permanent home on a farm in central Arkansas. He will be strong fellow both physically and in temperament. He has already shown in interest in working stock, but quickly comes back to the handler when called. While he is still too young to be used on big stock, he is very assertive boy when exposed to sheep and will likely be a very nice cattle dog. He is calm and quiet in the house and adjusts to new situations without any fuss. He takes to baths, tumbles by an overexuberant 11-year-old, and trips in the car without the same calm demeanor. He has a nice conformation with a strong topline and carries himself well.
These three females have all found homes. One was reserved at the time of the breeding by a family that owned a full brother to Mischief and wanted another dog from the same bloodlines. The second went to a nice family in northern Arkansas, and the third has been reserved by me (Angela) as a companion to me and Gypsy and a future agility prospect.
This is a red merle female who is by far the most social of the litter. She has two bright blue eyes to go with her striking colors. She has been temporarily dubbed "Daisy" due to her overly happy personality. Daisy has found a permanent home in Louisana. We wish her and her new owner the best!
