About Me

My name is Simone and I was born in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, situated just off the north-eastern coast of Venezuela. That's our national flag in the top left corner of the page; click on it to hear our national anthem*. Click here to learn more about Trinidad and Tobago.

As much as I love Trinidad I have always wanted to see as much of the world as I could and coming from the West Indies, it wasn't difficult to visit other Caribbean islands when on vacation. During secondary school I also visited Martinique, Venezuela and France for brief periods as an exchange student.

I took advantage of my time at university to do more travelling by participating in semester-long study abroad programs in first France then Spain during my junior year. It wasn't all fun and games; classes were actually more demanding than in the United States and nothing beats immersion for development of foreign languages skills.

By far, the most thrilling aspect of travelling is encountering different people, cultures and languages. As an avid voyager and language specialist of sorts, I seek opportunities to enhance my language skills and put them into practice. Apart from my native language, English, I also speak French and Spanish, and do translation and interpretation from both into English.
