Chapter Four

"Oh my god, Jeff!" I heard Melonie shout as she opened shotgun door, "Your brother and Mercy have been transformed into little white bunnies!"

Matt pulled himself off of me and we ceased our non-behaving. Jeff peered inside the car from his open door and tried in vain to not smirk. I could feel the redness appearing and increasing to my cheeks and one quick look at Matt revealed his embarrassment as well.

"Your definition of behaving is way different than mine," Jeff remarked fighting back laughter as he got in the drivers seat.

"Yeah, theirs is more fun," Melonie snidely remarked poking Jeff in the arm as she shut her door after getting inside.

"Don't contribute to their side of the argument or anything,"

"Why can't we misbehave Jeffy," she whined fraudulently.

"That is the best impression of Adam I have heard all week! GOOD JOB!" I called to her.

Jeff started up the massive vehicle and proved his macho tendencies by revving the engine and peeling out from the parking space. Matt slid over close to me from his corner of the seat.

"Just wanted to be close to you when we died," he whispered so Jeff couldn't hear him.

"It just occurred to me," I paused to let out a laugh, "If he did wreck he'd probably swanton past the air bag and through the windshield,"

We both started laughing immediately drawing suspicion and demands to know the joke. Fortunately we had long since become beside ourselves with cackles and snorts over the mental picture of Jeffy become airborne in the event of a crash landing. Minute's later Jeff stopped the car.

"We're here. Not that you two can hear me over there in bunny land or wherever you happen to be right about now, but we're AT WORK!" Jeff announced opening his door.

I recovered momentarily from the last bits of laughter long enough to make sense of Jeff and notice both he and Melanie leaving the car. I quickly leaned a little closer to Matt and gave him a gentle kiss on the corner of his mouth.

"Well, looks like it's show time, magic time and all that,"

"Yah, I already had my magic time though," he sighed returned the kiss.

"We should go," I added feeling the temptation and distraction well up between us.

"Yah," Matt distractedly agreed.

We exited the car and hand-in-hand walked toward the arena. Jeff and Melanie were ahead in the distance Jeff with his arm draped over Melanie's shoulder's inching her closer and Mel arm around his lower back squeezing him equally as much.

Suddenly an old thought bounced back to me and as we passed through the doors I suddenly felt a slight bit of panic.

"What's my angle going to be tonight?" I questioned Matt.

"Just wait and see. I'm not going to tell you, Mercy," he laughed at my persistence on the issue.

"Don't start that. You said I'd find out when I got here. I'm here, so do tell what you got me into," I shot back without a hint of humor in my voice.

"Whatever,"

I stifled the gulp that had lodged in my throat. I hadn't just pissed him off had I?

How unfair of him to get a prima donna complex all of a sudden.

"Fine," I sunk to his level of unconcerned secrecy.

We had just entered the doors to the whole backstage area. As Matt continued on a head, I veered to the left down a hall. I had absolutely no clue where I was headed. That didn't matter at this point. I had too much to process. It was closer to the show than it had been that morning, I didn't know my angle, Officially I wasn't even at work because I was walking down a hall. Jay was being a pain in the ass and I didn't even know why everything suddenly became conflicted and a big huge confusing mess! The dreams I had been, having weren't making me feel better either. It had been a while since I had the "cave nightmare" every single night. Not since, well, not since before I had joined up with the WWF. I sat down against the wall and tried to have a decent private thought. I thought about walking away from Matt the way I had. I thought about Jay and his strange behavior, well not strange for him, but strange for normal human beings it seemed. I even spent a deal of time wondering about my stupid dreams. Just as I was trying to piece together as much of the cave nightmare as I could recollect happening in the last couple of days I was interrupted.

"Hey there, so this is where you disappeared off too?"

It was Matt. I kept silent. I didn't really have anything to add to that particular statement.

"I've never seen you throw a fit over not getting your way. This is quite," he paused looking for the word, "interesting,"

I looked away suddenly feeling dumber than dumb and more embarrassed the longer he stood before me.

"I'm not throwing a tantrum. It was more a thing of trying to get the point across for you not to "whatever" me,"

"Point taken then,"

"So I walked off which led me down here and I got to thinking about some stuff that had been going on lately. I guess I just needed some think time that's all,"

Matt took a seat across from me in the hall, "So you going to punish me for the rest of the night?"

"I wasn't really sure. It was more of a spur of the moment thing,"

"Is that a no?"

I took a deep breath for added effect, "Well I guess it just wouldn't be proper to make you suffer more than a few minutes now would it,"

He exaggerated a relieved sigh, "Good, because it'd be really hard to pull off the angle where I steal you from Jay and Adam, if you were pissed at me!"

"What!" I cried happily.

"Yeah, I checked on it while you were throwing a fit. It's a definite thing. You turn on Edge and Christian still tonight, but just as Damia is about to leave in the arms of Kurt Angle accompanied by Bob, Matt and Jeff Hardy come out of nowhere and procure a beat down on Kurt and Bob,"

"Yes!" I victoriously agreed jumping to my feet and embarking on the "happy dance" I had learned from Scott Taylor.

"I thought you'd be overjoyed. I just wish everyone else could have seen the look on your face,"

Matt got up and some how slowed my hip-hop grooving down. I was embraced and completely at attention in his arms.

"I'm glad you're happy," a sincere smile formed on his lips.

I couldn't resist, but to give a musing look into his serious gaze and draw him closer to me. With his features coming nearer to mine, the tempting and distracting feelings once again came.

"Even throwing a fit I had you on my mind," I started, "You make me so happy,"

Matt hushed my lingering word with a soft kiss. Quickly the rippling kiss was turning to a passionate moving creation. Somehow I had backed myself against a wall and yet still I had no concept of time and space. I only knew how good I felt in Matt's arms, and how good and taken care of I knew I was at that moment, most of all the effortless magic electric connection coming from our kiss.

After minutes of heated and remarkable kissing, Matt was the one to pull away.

"We gotta go to work. Well," he stopped to think about it looking down the hall he had come from and back to me, "I mean, sometime today we have to,"

I pulled his face back to mine and took him into another kiss. Then I was the one to pull away.

"You're right we do. I mean, I'd rather do this all day, but we have five days after tonight until the next show. No house shows, hell, make it six days without Heat," Matt gave it a thought and came back to my lips once more.

"Okay, this sucks, but we really do have to go," he reluctantly freed me from the warm cuddle in his arms.

"This is going to be so much fun. I get to hit Jay with a chair," I exclaimed as we began walking.

"Actually, that sort of got changed too. You hit Adam with the chair and he knocks goes over the rope taking Jay with him,"

"Was that Jay's idea?" I laughed recognizing Jay's signature mark of escaping the brunt of the injury.
"Oh yeah, you know it!"

"So what else is going to happen?"

"Well I get to carry you away like a deranged caveman,"
"Let me guess, at your special request?"

"Hmm, I have no idea to what you are referring. I wouldn't dare ever try to use an angle for personal pleasure or gain,"

Heh, Liar," I coughed mocking him.

"Let's see, Jeff get's to bring some pain to Bob Backlund, I bring pain to Kurt Angle, doing get this, three twist of fate consecutively. I didn't ask for that and personally I think it's going to look stupid as hell,"

"It'll look fine," I patted his shoulder, "While you're beating the hell out of them what am I doing?"

"You go back to the ring to fetch that chair you so dearly love. Right before you smack me with it, after I finish Kurt off, I grab it, toss it off the ramp, where all this is taking place by the way, and throw you over my caveman shoulder,"

"Sounds pretty good. Where'd you think of all of it?"

"Just came to me in the car. You're good inspiration,"

"So I've been told," I laughed.

We then entered the main dressing room area. I saw Vince and some of the other crew off to the right corner discussing something with Paul and the rest of DX. Over to the left Jay, Adam and Jeff had engaged in a pow wow with Melonie Stacy and Joanie. Matt and I made our way to the group, instigating a few whistles from Stacy and Melanie who always suspected that we were up to something when Matt and I arrived last to any place.

"Hey girl," I greeted giving Stacy a hug.

Melanie ducked away from Jeff to join Stacy and I. Matt took her place by his brother.

"Come here, I have got to talk to you," Melanie whispered urgently pulling me and Stacy with her a few yards away from the boys.

"I supposed you already know the angle for the night?" she asked me looking more concerned than giddy.

"Yeah, Matt told me a few minutes ago,"

"Well, that's just for Jay and Adam's fight," she began, "After Matt carries you backstage, you have to go back out again about two acts later for Matt and Jeff's fight,"

"That makes no sense, wasn't I taken back there unwillingly!"
"Exactly what I thought, but apparently there's going to be a GTV in between all that, showing you and Matt getting frisky,"

My eyes nearly bulged out of my sockets.

"Vince is allowing that!" I wondered.

"Well, not as frisky as you two usually are, but you do come to an agreement or some such thing over you being their valet,"

"Okay, so then what happens when I come out?"

"You get to do this cool gun thing that I made up," Melanie cut in demonstrating the move for me.

I arched an eyebrow skeptical that I would look anything but stupid pulling that off.

Stacy continued, "Okay, well, Amy does a move on Matt while the referee isn't watching as she defends Essa, and thus begins your gigantic new angle - a feud between you and Amy,"

"Which should be easy seeing as she's been all over Matt since day one!" Melanie again cut in mischievously grinning.

"The best part is, tonight you win. You pummel the biotch on the side of the ring and then get on the top rope and fist of rage her,"

"Cool," I remarked thinking how fun it would be to finally do some damage to Amy without giving away the whole jealous girlfriend vibe.

Before any more discussion could be had, I heard Vince calling me from where he stood with the writing crew.

"Be right back,"

I left Stacy and Melanie to join Vince and the writers.

"There's been another change of plans for tonight. I don't know what everyone's already told you, but we had some problems with Kurt and that whole angle,"

I nodded.

"First of all, we've been trying to find a way to give him a push as a tag team with Bob Backlund, but we scrapped that angle. The audience just isn't buying that. We thought it would be better to keep things as real as possible. So, tonight, the Edge and Christian match will continue with you in their corner, only instead of Kurt Angle and Bob Backlund they will face Test and Albert," I silently wondered how much of the angle Stacy, HAD, gotten right when she told me.

"You hit Adam with a chair, propelling him into Jay and they both fall over the ropes. The only reason you do this is, Trish is distracting the ref, and Matt and Jeff have entered the ring. The only action they take in the ring is some punches, as they turn to duck out of the ring. While they are still in the center, Adam goes off the ropes, once and then on the second you come running behind him clock him with a chair. He goes over the ropes with Jay. Matt picks you up and carries you backstage,"

"That sounds pretty quick," I remarked, "What's the explanation for this sudden heel?"

"Backstage after the next act is finished, a clip will air in which Jay, Adam and you have words. The scripts still in production. Mainly, you should be concerned about your roles in this match and the next match. You valet for Matt and Jeff in their match against Essa Rios. Amy is going to perform a move on Matt while the referee is distracted. She'll be low on the canvas, all you have to do is pull her out of the ring by her hair and start a cat fight,"

"Sounds like fun," I joked thinking how truly enjoyable the beating of Amy would be.

"That's going to be your new angle. Valet for Matt and Jeff and a feud with Lita, we plan to give one or both of you a push since you're really rating high with the audiences,"

"Great, thanks Vince, I appreciate it,"

I turned to walk back to Stacy and Melanie who were waiting with anticipating looks on their faces.

"Mercy, what'd he say?"

"The angle got reworked, again, but I have a really good thing going. It sounds a lot better without Kurt Angle, and I get to hit Adam with a chair still, then I get to have GTV televised fight with Jay, then of course get to beat up on Amy,"

"Sounds like fun, I just wish Amazon would get a damn push like that," Melanie lamented over her character status.

"Hey, I wouldn't doubt it would happen soon, in the next few shows even. Vince likes to keep everything as near reality as possible and when he heard how me and Joanie were getting along as friends he put me into that angle with her after the Jeff Jarrett Good Housekeeping Match,"

"That's true,"

"Oh no, here comes Amy," Stacy whispered nodding toward Amy Dumas approaching us.

"Amy, come here, I need to discuss tonight's matches with you," Vince called to Amy.

"Thank God," I smirked, "Let's go. I think I should go ask Adam to come practice his beating or something. The last thing I need to hear is her voice in my ear telling me she'll go easy on me,"

"Right," they both agreed shamelessly giggling.
