Chapter Nine

"Atta BOY! Show her who dah man!" I heard Jeff call before the ever so obvious thwack of Melanie slapping him in the back of the head once again.

Matt hurried to the edge of the pool, filled with water far cooler than the Jacuzzi I might add. I opened my eyes briefly and just in time to see the blur of the scenery as Matt heaved me in laughing.

"SHIIITTT!" I cried hitting the freezing cold water and becoming completely submerged as I practically hit the bottom.

Just as I was regaining my sense of direction and about to swim back to the surface I saw two familiar legs followed by a body plunge in beside me. Not wasting a perfect chance to exact playful revenge I took the opportunity to grab the leg and tug it down as I swam up. Then of course I took even more liberty pushing Matt's head down to further my ascent to the surface. I reached the surface and got a quick breath before being yanked back underwater. I almost burst out laughing, but decided to restrain myself as not to run out of air. Matt pushed up ahead of me and took his quick breath before I, in perfect turn, pulled him back under. I swam away to the side and ducked up for a longer breath and then dove back down to see if I could possibly terrorize him any more than I already had. Fortunately I found him clinging to the side of the pool taking a breather. I popped up directly in front of him, giving him somewhat of a shock.

"That was fun. I'm freezing," I announced before looking up at Matt.

"Floatie boy pushed me in," he answered.

"Well, we'll just have to go get him back now won't we,"

"How do you propose to do that?"

"I have a few ideas. Just watch the master at work," I swam away to the ladder as I noticed Jay back to his spot with Adam at the diving board, heckling the divers.

"Hey stupid," I teasingly called out to Jay who innocently suspected nothing.

"Not to much retard. Still blissful an hour later?"

"You bet. You talked to Kaylin yet?"

"And monkeys might fly out of my ass long enough for Shane to suck their nipple," Adam managed to spit out before Jay could even think to respond.

Even Jay had to laugh on that rip-off of a comment.

"No, I haven't, but I did notice Andrew checking out Trish. I feel as though a giant weight has been lifted, or I would if I cared or something,"

"You are the worst person to try to pull of denial you know that,"

"What denial,"

"See, that's my point. You suck at being in denial. You're so transparent. You have no tan whatsoever. You are transparent white boy!"

"And that would make you?" he implied.

"That would make me," I started working my way around behind him acting as if I was walking around to be next to Adam, "Not a dead ringer for Powder!"

"That's so lame," Jay snickered turning to face me with his back now to the deep end of the pool.

"Yeah, well if you think that's lame. Try this out," I lunged at him and gave him a healthy push knocking him backwards into the pool.

He flew into the cold water with a splash that ended up giving tidal wave like reaction to Adam and I. For a while he floundered trying to figure out how to get back to the surface. Soon enough his head popped up, and he noticed the roar of laughter emerging from Adam. That coupled with my giggles and Matt's in and out chuckles as he swam over to help Jay who immediately swatted him away.

"You better be glad Jeff the human fish taught me how to swim. You'd feel bad if you ended up drowning me," Jay muttered pulling himself up the ladder.

"Aw, I knew you could handle it. Just a little sibling rivalry that's all. Besides if you didn't want to go in the water, why'd you buy the board shorts?"

"To impress his girlfriend Kaylin," Adam sing songed much to Jay's annoyment.

"Why don't I leave you two so you can think up some real good ways to torment me. The way I see it the Kaylin jokes are getting old,"

"So are you. Ask her out," I demanded not buying his guilt trip for a second.

"Shuddup. Like I said, the relationship would never work out so why even bother wasting time, energy and emotion,"

"Because, you and you alone will carry on the family name. Think about that, then,"

"Mercy, I could just go donate to a test tube baby. That would work out,"

"The other way's more fun," Adam interrupted, "Besides even if you don't want kids, might as well just practice,"

"I can't believe you two are philosophizing over little old me. How sweet. Knock it off!"

"Jay, c'mon don't get all upset. It was just a little joke. If it really upsets you this much we wont tease you about your undying love and unspoken crush on Kaylin!" said I, trying to reconcile the situation.

Matt climbed out of the pool, "It's no fun when it's just me in there,"

"Mercy, just drop it. For real, I'm sick of you always bringing her up. Things were going great today. You didn’t bring her up once, until this evening,"

"I'm sorry Jay. I just want you to go and be happy. But you're standing in your own way. If you don't talk to her by the end of the week I'm going to start dropping hints for you,"

"Don’t you dare. I'll take care of it myself. The last thing I need is you playing Chuck Woolery on me,"

"No, I see myself more as the Jenny Jones Love Doctor, but either way, seriously set a goal to at least do more than talk to her. Go on a damn date,"

"Well, whatever. Enough about me, what are you two planning on doing before Monday,"

Matt put his arms around me from behind, "It's a secret,"

Jay crossed his arms defensively, "Not for long it better not be,"

"That's what I'm saying. Even I don't know," I admitted, "I didn't even know there was a secret,"

"Well, I figured it all out when I was having my affair with the ice packs in my room,"

"I see. So what's the secret?" I asked again more to the point this time.

"You'll just have to see tomorrow,"

"I don't mean to ruin the happiness, but guess who just showed up,"

Matt and I synchronically turned our heads in the direction Jay nodded. My stomach gave a small lurch of discomfort at the sight. Amy was walking through the glass doors in her slut red string bikini. She sauntered over to Trish giving me a nasty look on the way. Apparently only I had picked up on it though, because Jay and Matt just gritted teeth and shook heads in disgust before returning to the original topic.

"Well, Matt, be sure to clue me in on "the big secret"," Jay reminded making the dumb little quotation marks with his fingers.

"Okay," Matt agreed making the dumb little finger gestures as well.

"And with that I will now go back to my kiddie pool. If you need me, I'm just a floatie away," he marched off to his destination seeming his normal self again.

"That was nice of you to push your brother in, but that still doesn’t excuse you pushing me under," I heard Matt whisper as his grip around my waist tightened.

"OH great, not again," and with that I was tossed into the cold water once again.

Matt splashed in beside me a moment later. I back stroked away from him, bumping into Chris who was still not daring to doggie paddle his way out of the 5/6 foot mark into the 12 foot diving mark.

"Oh sorry, didn't see you there kid," I teased.

"Zip it. Not my fault I don't have Jay's floaties or his skills,"

"Here's a tip. Consult Skittles the human fish over there, better known as, the Jacuzzi Rat," Matt added joining up with me.

"And we trust him with human lives," Chris sarcastically noted glancing over at Jeff who was still in the Jacuzzi, but only because part of him was in it doing a handstand to impress Melanie.

"Well, we try to encourage him to embrace sanity from time to time," Matt explained.

"Holy shit," I nearly wheezed looking behind Chris to the kiddie pool.

"What?" he and Matt both asked turning their attention as well.

"It's Amy, with her hands on," I gulped with question in my voice, "my brother,"

"What's up with that?" Matt wondered out loud.

"Slut," I mumbled starting to wander towards getting out of the pool as I received questioning looks from both men.

I walked quickly to where Amy was sitting in the water next to Jay, floating on his back.

"Oh, hi Amy, may I ask what's going on," I asked with a faked sweet demeanor.

"Hi, Mercy, I was just talking to your brother Jay about a few things. Congratulations on your engagement. I'm so happy for you two," she returned faking equally as much.

"Thank you," I returned smiling, "Is that all?"

"Geezus, Mercy, way to give her the third degree," Jay spoke up, interrupting the stare down Amy and I were sharing.

"It's okay Jay, she didn’t mean anything by it I'm sure," she cooed, "By the way, no, that wasn't all of it. I was just telling Jay my friend from wrestling school just got a contract with WWF a few months back. He's set to be debuting on Heat Sunday,"

"How nice for him. You two keep cozy then," I snidely remarked before storming away.

"Who the hell does she think she is. Eyeing my brother right after practically brawling with me over my boyfriend, now fiancee,"

I pushed the thought aside slinking back into the pool to have some more fun with Matt.
