The arena lights went pink.
“What is this?” King said.
“I don’t know.” JR replied.
“Everything is pink” King said.
My own music and titontron video started playing. It was a music box with a ballerina spinning while the music box twinkle music played. Then all of a sudden a spiked heel came down on the music box and smashed it and the rock music started playing. Then the words started. “ You call me a baby. . . . You treat me like a child . . . I’ll show you baby, . . . Baby!!!” As that all started pictures of me in my new costume flashed and baby pictures o f me flashed.
I walked out wearing my new costume. It was a light. pink baby doll dress with bloomers. It had spaghetti straps and was rather low cut (like most of the women’s clothes are in the WWF). Along with the baby doll dress I was wearing spike heels. My hair was in pig tails and I was carrying a teddy bear.
“That’s Edge and Christian’s baby sister Emma-Leigh” King said.
When I got to the top of the ramp I waited until everyone stopped screaming , although I liked there reaction to my new character. Then I started to speak. Edge and Christian stood there in amazement. They had been in the ring waiting because they were told their sister had a special announcement.
“Edge, Christian, You call me your baby sister. You treat me like a child. I am 22! I am an adult but I decided if you guys are going to treat me like a child I will act like a one. So what do you think?”I said as I spun around slowly showing off my new outfit.
“I like it” King said
“Shut up you fool!” JR said to him.
The crowed started screaming again. I waited until they died down and began to speak again.
“So from now on I am going to be known as ‘Baby Emma.’ Just like you wanted, everyone will call me baby. Oh and one more thing boys. Ya know how you want to protect me and never let me do anything and how I have been going out every night with a friend? I have been, only problem is that he is YOUR FRIEND!” I screamed just as Jeff walked out. I grabbed him and threw my arms around his neck and planted a big kiss on his lips.
“That’s Jeff Hardy!” King yelled, “One of Edge and Christian’s best friends”
Jeff put his hands under the back of my dress and we stood there kissing.
“She’s going to get it now.” JR said as Edge and Christian ran up the ramp.
“Can I give it to her.” King said.
Edge grabbed me and pulled me off of Jeff as Christian attacked Jeff. I was kicking and screaming “Let me go” as Edge held me by my waist off the ground.
That is how I changed characters from being Emma-Leigh, Edge and Christian’s sister to ‘Baby Emma,’ Jeff and Matt;s Valet. I was also Jeff’s girlfriend on and off screen.
For weeks after that, every time I came out it was with Jeff and Matt. It was to mixed reactions. Most male fans cheered and screamed for me. The female fans would usually chant ‘SLUT.’ They didn't like that I caused the feud between the Hardy Boyz and Edge and Christian.
After about two month of being called a ‘SLUT’ every time I came out, and seeing signs with phrases like “EMMA -LEIGH IS A HOOCHIE” and “BABY SHOULD JOIN THE HO TRAIN” I was starting to get upset.
“I don’t like being hated, Jeff.”I said almost in tears before one of his matches.
“No one does, Baby.” Jeff said almost ignoring me.
“Cut it out! Can’t you just call me by my name when were are alone?”I snapped at him as I began to cry.
“Huh? Oh man! I am sorry Em. I am kinda distracted about this match. I didn’t mean to call you ‘baby as in ‘Baby Emma’ I called you baby because you are my baby! I love you!, Jeff said giving me a hug.
“I am sorry too,” I said putting my head on his shoulder. “I am a little moody tonight.”
“You won’t be hated after tonight if everything goes right.” he said petting my head as he hugged me.
Edge and Christian were fighting the Holly’s in a non-title match. Mr.McMahon came up with an idea for the boys to become friends again and for me to be put in a better light.
As Edge and Christian’s match with Crash and Hardcore holly began I took my spot in the back getting ready to go out. Edge and Christian were getting beat pretty bad. Just then the arena lights turned pink.
“Oh no! Everything’s gone pink. You know what that means. Baby Emma! Wahoo!” King screamed.
They stopped fighting when my music and titontron started. I walked out and the crowd started screaming.
“What a time for Baby to come out. She is going to ruin everything for brothers!” JR said.
“Sorry guys but I have something to say.” I screamed over the crowd. “I just wanted to say that I miss my brothers and I want to try to make it up to them all the stuff I put them and the Hardys through. I know it is my fault they started fighting and I am sorry but I love Jeff and I love my brothers too, so here is my solution” I said as Jeff and Matt walked out and stood at either side of me.
“WHAT?” Edge and Christian both yelled about to run up the ramp and attack.
“Wait. Please just listen and hear me out. I came up with a way I can make everything up to you.” I said as I turned around. “Go get ‘em, boys.” I said dropping the mic and my teddy bear and walking backstage.
Jeff and Matt ran down the ramp and attacked the Hollys. As all four attacked them Jeff and Matt did an ‘Event Omega’ on Crash. Then Edge pinned him and won. All four boys celebrated their victory and refound friendship. I was glad to see they were friends in the ring again.
“Now people will stop hating my character.” I thought.
All four guys walked up the ramp together. Edge picked up my teddy bear, paused, looked at it, and tossed it to Jeff.
I was still upset after the match. Only I knew why though. I was in my dressing room crying when Jeff tried to walk in.
“Emm, You in there? Let me in.”
“No.” I answered trying not to let him hear me crying.
“Come on Em, Let me in.What’s the matter? Are you still mad at me from before?”
“NO! I am not mad from before. I just need to be alone for a while.” I said no longer holding back the tears.
“Okay,” Jeff said walking away.
Just as Jeff was walking away Stephanie walked by.
“Hey Steph, Can you talk to Emma-Leigh please. She upset but she doesn’t want to speak with me.”
“Okay Jeff, maybe she’ll talk to me woman to woman.” She said walking up to my door. “Emma? Can I come in?”
“Who is it?” I snapped.
“It’s me, Steph! Can I come in and talk to you?”
“I guess.” I said getting up to open the door.
“See Jeff, It’s a woman thing.” Stephanie said to Jeff who was standing next to my door.
"I'll make sure she's okay."
"Thank you."Jeff said walking away.
“I’ll make sure she’d okay.”
“Thank you.” Jeff said walking away.
I opened the door to let Stephanie in. She could tell I had been crying.
“Oh Emma, what’s the matter?”
“I don’t know what to do, Stephanie.” I said beginning to cry again.” Jeff is going to kill me.”
“What’s wrong? What happened?”
“Oh Steph, I’m . . I’m . . .pregnant. I don’t know what to do. I didn’t mean for it to happen.” I said between sobs.
“How far along are you?”
“About two months. Jeff doesn’t know.” I said calming down some.
“I think you should tell him.”
“I can’t. He’ll be so mad. We were always so careful except one time. My life is ruined.”
“I don’t think he’ll be mad. I’ll go get him and I’ll stay with you while you tell him.”
“If you think he won’t be mad, okay.”
Stephanie went down the hall to get Jeff. When they came back I was sitting in front of the vanity trying to make my eyes look less puffy.
“Emma has something very important to tell you, so just sit and listen and don’t interrupt.” Steph said as Jeff sat down. “Go ahead, Emma.”
“Jeff, Honey, I have some news. Whether it is bad news or good news is all depends on you.”
“What is it?”
“Don’t interrupt, Jeff.” Stephanie scolded him.
“Okay.” Jeff snapped.
“Well remember a few months ago when we were back in New York? Remember we went to my parents house? Remember how we made love in my bedroom at home? Remember how we had no condom? Well, uh, I’m, um , pregnant. Please don’t be mad.”
“Your what? We only did it once with out a condom.”
“See I told you he’d be mad.” I said bursting into tears again.
“Emma, I am not mad just shocked.”Jeff said walking over to hug me.”It was only that once.”
“What are we going to do, Jeff?”
“Don’t worry Hon, we’ll figure it out. Stephanie please don’t tell your dad just yet, not until we figure out what we are doing.”
“Okay,” Stephanie agreed “I’ll let you two be alone.”
She walked out. Just stood in Jeff’s arms and cried.
“Don’t worry sweetheart, we’ll get through this. Here sit down. I have to get something”
I nodded and sat down. Jeff walked out of the room,When he came back he didn’t have anything with him.
“Emma, I’ve had this for about a week but i could never find the right time.” he said as he took a small velvet box out of his pocket. He got down on one knee in front of me.
“What?” I said puzzled.
“Emma-Leigh Landly, would you do me the pleasure of becoming Mrs. Jeff Hardy?”
“Oh, Jeff, of course I’ll marry you. I love you so much.”
“I’ve loved you ever since that night in the hotel lounge when we talked till down.”
“Jeff, but what about the baby?”
“Well do you want to keep it?”
“I don’t want to have an abortion. But I don’t want to loose my job because a big fat pregnant baby is not sexy!”
“Well there is only one thing we can do then.”
“What?”
“We’ll tell Mr.McMahon you are going on maternity leave once you start showing. He’ll work it into the storyline.”
“Okay.”
“See Hon, everything is going to be all right just as long as we are together.” Jeff said comforting me.
We had a meeting with Mr.McMahon that night. He said he would think of some reason I have for leaving so I could come back. We didn’t wan it to leak out so we only told people directly involved at first. Matt, Adam and Jason were the first to find out. We called them all together in our hotel room when we got to Miami the next night.
“Guys, I bet you all are wondering why Em and I got you all together. Well we have a few announcements to make and since you guys are the closest to us we figured we’d tell you first.” Jeff said after everyone sat down.
“So what’s up?” Jason asked.
“We’re getting to it, hold on.” Jeff snapped. “Emma is going to tell you.”
“Well Matt, you’ll be happy to know there will be two additions to the Hardy family.”
“Huh?” Matt said confused.
“He finally popped the question, dumbass.” Adam said smacking Matt’s arm.
“ That’s only one though.” Jason said.
“ Oh my God, Our Baby Emma is going to have a baby.” Adam screamed.
“How’d that happen?” Matt questioned.
“No wonder Laurette doesn’t come and visit for as long as she used to. You don’t know what sex is.” I laughed as Matt gave me a nasty look. “ No really. We were careless one time and now we are going to have a baby.”
“Does Vince know?” Adam asked.
“Yeah, We told him yesterday in Atlanta. He said he’ll figure some way for Em to take time off as she begins to show.” Jeff explained.
“When do you fine out about your story line, Emma?” Jason asked.
“Soon I hope, Jay. Less stress , better for the baby.”
“When do you find out what it is?” Jason asked.
“Not sure.” I replied.
“Oh yeah guys, don’t tell anyone. The only ones who know are you three, Stephanie, Vince, and Laurette.”
“Do your parents know, Emma? Does dad know, Jeff?” Matt asked.
“No, we don’t want to worry them. We’ll wait to tell them until she leaves.” Jeff answered.
“When are you going to leave?” Adam asked.
“When I begin to show. I suppose in about three or four months.” I said.
“How far along are you?” Matt asked.
“We figure about two months because that is when we were in New York.”
“Ha Ha, You got pregnant when you went to your parent’s house.” Jason laughed.
“Shut up, Jay.” I snapped.
“So you met her near our home and got her pregnant near hers.” Matt laughed at Jeff.
“Maybe we shouldn’t have told them.” I snickered at Jeff.
Mr.McMahon called me right before we were leaving to go to the airport.
“Emma-Leigh, we thought of a way to give you time off for the baby.” he said as i got on the phone.
“Really? That’s great. What’s the story?”
“Well, I think ‘Baby Emma’ is going to catch Jeff talking to another woman.”
“What?” I screeched, “Jeff is not going to be with another woman.”
“Calm down, Emma-Leigh. He’s not going to do anything he’s just going to talk to her.”
“Okay, I guess.”
“Baby Emma will walk up to Jeff’s door and hear him talking to another girl. Baby will slam open the door yell at Jeff that she’s leaving and run out of the arena and supposedly get hit by a car. You will not be touched by any cars. We’ll cut to Jeff running after you and then cut to you laying in the road and a car speeding away. Baby Emma will be in a coma and then you can come back when you are ready. How does that sound to you?”
“Great and you promise neither my baby nor I will get hurt?”
“Yes no one gets hurt.”
“Okay, you just let me know when you think I am showing too much.”
“Will do Emma-Leigh. You have a nice trip and tell Jeff.”
“I will Mr.McMahon, and thanks again.”
I hung up the phone and went to find Jeff. When I found him he was down in the lobby, sitting with his head in his hands.
“Jeff, Hon, what’s wrong?”
“Em, you scared me.” Jeff said sitting up with a start. “Nothing’s wrong. I was just thinking.”
“What’s on your mind, Sweetheart?” I asked as I sat down besides him.
“Do you realize we are going back to North Carolina tonight?”
“Yeah?” I said a bit confused.
“It’s where we met. It’s Where I fell in love with you. We haven’t even known each other a full year yet and already we are getting married and you are having my baby.”
“Yeah, It’s a bit overwhelming , isn’t it?” I said grabbing his hands.
“Yeah, we are not even a quarter of a century old yet we have come full circle. I was just thinking about how much I love you and how excited and scared I am with everything that’s happening.”
“Darling, If we don’t go soon we are never going to come full circle because we will miss our plane and never make it to North Carolina.”
“Okay. Stay here I’ll go get our bags.”
Three months went by very fast. I could hardly believe it. My pink baby doll dress quickly changed to overalls. I still carried the teddy bear and wore pigtails. No one could tell I was starting to show when I was wearing the overalls. They were pink with ruffles. True baby type overalls.
Finally the day came for our story line to unfold.
“Are you ready for this, Em?”
“oh yes,Jeff, I can’t wait to go on leave. Laurette is so excited that I am going to stay with her and we can finally tell your father and my parents. Then when you come to New York next month we’ll have our wedding.”
“I can’t wait until you become my wife and the mother of my child.” Jeff said putting his arms around me.
Just then there was a knock on the door. It was Kaitlin. She was one of the Ho’s that night. She was supposed to be the girl Jeff was going to be talking to. Mr. McMahon didn’t tell anyone our story line except Matt , Adam, and Jason. Kaitlin was just told to go talk with Jeff for a story line she was not told who’s or why. We wanted the new to be a surprise!
“Oh well I guess it’s time to go, Hon.” I said to Jeff as I picked up my teddy bear.
“Remember I love you and I always will.” Jeff whispered in my ear.
“I love you too, Sweetheart.” I said to him kissing him on the cheek and walked out.
