Grimacing, Reese limped her way back up the ramp and into the backstage area. The match had gone really well, with her boys winning the match and becoming the number one contenders for the tag titles. They would be eight time tag team champions after they beat Jericho and Benoit at the next pay-per view, which of course they had to point out to the crowd and everyone at home.
"Great job out there tonight, Reese," a voice complimented her from behind.
"Thanks Nora, sorry about the conchairto they gave ya," Reese said as she turned around to face her new friend.
"It surprisingly didn't hurt as bad as I thought it would. The chairs take the brunt of it and if you move just right you barely get any chair. Plus Jason and Adam were way gentle with me."
"That's my boys. I'm sure you'll have a slight headache later though so I would take some Advil now if I were you," Reese said with a smile. The two said their goodbyes as Nora headed down the opposite hallway towards the locker room she shared with her "cousins."
Reese continued on down the hallway hoping to catch Jeff before he left for the hotel. Hearing voices behind her, Reese turned around to see K Kwik with a very pretty girl on his arm.
"Hey Reese, great job out there tonight. That move you pulled on Amy was pretty cool," Kwik told her as they approached. "This is my girlfriend Isis. Isis this is Reese one of the newest members of the WWF roster."
"It's very nice to meet you Isis," Reese said as she shook the girls hand.
"You too Reese. I really enjoyed your role in the tag match tonight. You girls really went at it out there."
"Are you a wrestler?" Reese asked her.
"No, my friend Bobcat is though, that is how I met Kwik. Tonight, I brought my friend Maria with me cause she is dying to meet Adam Copeland. I left her outside cause the security guard wouldn't let her in, something about her pass not being official even though it looked exactly like mine," Isis explained.
Reese was a little puzzled by the guards actions and then when the screaming began it hit her all at once. "Oh shit," Reese said as she started to run towards the back door. The pain in her leg seemed to disappear as the adrenaline started pumping through her veins.
She could hear the sound of people running behind her, but wasn't sure if it was Kwik and Isis or someone else who had heard the screaming.
Pushing through the heavy arena door, Reese surveyed the area. IN front of her a woman was lying on the ground, she could see her chest moving with each labored breath and knew she was alive. To the right she noticed a figure running into the shadows and decided that was the direction she needed to head in.
"Kwik make sure you call an ambulance and get Vince out here. They need to make sure that girl is alive and if you can find Troy grab her and tell her where I went," Reese yelled out behind her as she ran into the shadows.
"What is with all the commotion outside?" Jason asked Troy as they walked hand in hand to the parking lot.
"I don't know, I hope everything is okay," Troy answered as she shifted her gym bag on her shoulder.
"Troy, Troy, I have been looking everywhere for you," an out-of-breath K Kwik said as he approached the couple.
"Dude, what's going on?" Jason asked him.
"My girlfriend Isis and her friend Maria came to visit me tonight and watch the show. The security guard out back wouldn't let Maria inside because of her pass, so Isis came in to get me and as we were heading back out to the lot we ran into Reese. While we were all talking we heard a scream and then Reese was running outside.
Maria was lying unconscious and bleeding in front of the door, the security guard was gone and Reese took off after someone she saw by the trucks. She told me to come find you and tell you what was going on," Kwik explained and then he took off back the way he came, probably to check on his friend, Troy thought.
"Oh man," Troy said as she reached into her gym bag and pulled out a gun.
"What the hell is that, Troy? Where are you going?" Jason asked her, anger and confusion evident in his voice.
"Please Jason just trust me. Hold my bag and I promise I will be right back. Meet me outside where everyone else is. IF you can find Jeff and Matt and get Reese's bag that would be great. And I swear I will explain everything to you as soon as I get back," troy said as she leaned in and kissed him. Before he could object or ask any more questions she was gone.
Tucking her gun into the back of her pants, Troy headed out towards where the trucks where parked hoping to run into Reese before Reese found the perp. She slowly creeped her way in between the trucks looking in every knook and cranny she came across, but found nothing.
"Reese," she whispered, hoping that her friend may hear her. She couldn't believe Reese was being stupid enough to run after someone without anything to protect her, sure she was a black belt in Karate, but kicks and punches never did much against guns and bullets.
"Son of a Bitch."
"What the hell," Troy whispered to herself. She recognized the voice as Reese's but couldn't quite tell where it was coming from. "Reese, where are you?"
"Troy, I'm over here, a little ways passed the trucks. The fucker got away dammit. If it wasn't for that stupid match tonight I would have caught him."
Troy laughed a little as she found her friend sitting on the bumper of one of the rental vans.
"What is the matter with you?"
"I hurt my damn leg during the match and when I came running after the guy it cramped up even more and I lost him. Is the girl going to be okay? She may be our only hope for catching this guy."
"I didn't have time to check on her before coming after you. And we may have a slight problem."
"Great what now?" Reese asked as she steadied herself on her friends shoulder.
"Um, well when Kwik found me I was with Jason and things sounded so serious that I grabbed my gun and handed my bag to Jason and he kind of wants to know whats up. I really don't think he is a suspect. I would have noticed him planning something like this or the last kidnapping and we are always together…"
"It's okay, Troy. I have been thinking and I have ruled him out as a suspect. I think it might be good to have a couple people on our side, so tell him. Maybe if you tell him now it won't end up like it usually does. Maybe he won't hate you."
Smiling, Troy nodded, "One can only hope, now lets get you back to the action. Maybe a paramedic will still be there and they can take a look at your leg. If not I think we should take you to the hospital. We need to check on Isis' friend."
"Good idea. Isis may be able to help us as well. The guy was wearing a security uniform and when she was telling me about her friend she said the security guard wouldn't let her in.
Maybe Isis can give us a good description of the guy."
"I hope so, I really want this case to be over with."
"Me too," Reese said as she started thinking of Jeff again.
