"I can't believe this is happening," Reese said as she paced back and forth in the hospital waiting room. "She has to be alright, I will never forgive myself if she isn't alright."

"Reese, she is going to be fine. I promise you, Avalon is going to get through this just fine. She has to," Jeff said hoping to reassure his girlfriend. Quietly, he looked around the room at the people who waited for some sort of news on their friends. Shane, Avalon and Peter had been brought in as soon as the E.M.T.'s were able to get to them safely and transport them to the hospital.

Troy and Jason sat on one of the couches. Troy's cheeks streaked with tears of guilt. She felt responsible for Avalon's injury although no one could have been sure what was going to happen when they stepped into the ring to check on the two women. Adam sat in the chair next to theirs completely silent. He obviously wasn't sure what he should do. He didn't know any of the victims well, but he knew his friends needed him, especially Matt who was already mourning the loss of his girlfriend.

Peter's girlfriend Jaime sat alone in the corner. She had been brought to the hospital as soon as she had heard that Peter had been brought here. He was the least injured, only needing a few stitches, but she also wanted to be present when they received news on Avalon. The two had become extremely close in the time Avalon had been with the Nitro Girls, almost like sisters and Jaime was afraid to lose that.

Jeff then looked over at his best friend Shannon. He was pacing just like Reese; he couldn't seem to sit still for anything. Jeff couldn't help but feel bad for his friend. He had never seen Shannon happier than when he was with Avalon and now he could possibly lose her.

"Excuse me," a nurse said as she broke the silence. "I just wanted to let you know that your friend Peter Gruner will be released in a few minutes as well as Shane Helms. Mr. Helms injury although long was not very deep. The doctor stitched him up and is finishing him up right now. I still don't have any word on the young lady, but as soon as the doctor taking care of her comes out, I will let you know."

"Thank you so much for the update. We really appreciate it," Jeff said with a weak smile.

Time seemed to drag on as they waited for news on Avalon. Peter and Shane made it to the waiting room and were now sitting and waiting as well for news. An hour had passed before a new voice interrupted the silence again.

"Mr. Shannon Moore?"

"Yes," Shannon said as he stepped towards the man, his voice hoarse from crying.

"I'm Dr. Grant. I am the one who has been with Miss Carter since they brought her in. Her injury wasn't exactly serious. The reason it has taken so long to stabilize her is the loss of blood. She was very lucky that the knife missed her vital organs. She was also very lucky that nothing happened to the baby. The blood loss could have…."

"W..w…what? Baby, what baby?" Shannon stuttered.

"Miss Carter is about five weeks pregnant. I take it you didn't know?"

"Oh my God, we had no idea. If I had known I would have never allowed her to go out there," Shannon said as the tears began to fall freely down his face.

"Well like I said she was very lucky. She and the baby are going to be just fine. She is awake and asking for you, so if you could please follow me."

Reese watched Shannon follow the doctor out and then she let go of the breath she was holding in. Avalon was going to be okay and she was going to be a mother. With that thought a huge smile tugged at her lips.

"I can't believe she's pregnant. I am so glad she is okay, but I can't believe she is pregnant," Reese said as she began to laugh hysterically.

Troy joining in a minute later, one by one they all joined in the laughter, realizing that finally it was all over.
