"What did you do?" asked Amy after seeing Matt come running out of the hotel lobby giggling.

"Nothing, whatever would make you think that?" said Matt with a smirk on his face.

"Oh please, i know you too well. That look means only means one thing, you've been tormenting poor Jeff." said Amy.

"Damn, you're too good, guess that's why I love you so much." said Matt.

"So why were you picking on him this time? Did he cut holes in the ends of your socks again?" asked Amy.

"No. I was just trying to lighten him up a little. He was getting too serious and started lecturing me." said Matt.

"Lecturing you about what?" asked Amy. "Is he still upset we're dating?"

"No, it's not him, it's dad. He thinks dad is still going to have a problem with us." said Matt.

Amy gets quiet and starts staring at the floor of the car.

"What's wrong?" asked Matt.

Amy starts biting her lower lip to keep from crying.

"What is it? You're starting to scare me hon." said Matt.

"I just don't understand why he doesn't like me. I've always tried to be nice to him. But it seems like since the day he layed eyes on me, he doesn't want me to be a part of your life." whimpered Amy.

"Don't take it personally, he's just like that sometimes. I know he doesn't hate you." said Matt.

"Yes he does, why else would he be trying to keep us apart.?" said Amy with an angry tone.

"He's just overprotective. Ever since mom died, he's had to take on the role of both parents and he's just taken it a bit too far this time." "Anyways, isn't it more important what I think?" asked Matt as they pulled into the club parking lot.

"I guess so, it's just I want him to like me and accept me." said Amy.

"He does like you, as a friend of me and Jeff. I'm sure he'll come around, and if he doesn't, then it's his problem, not ours." snapped Matt.

Amy attempted a half smile, but Matt wasn't buying it.

Matt shut off the car and turned to Amy.

"Lemme ask you something, why is it so important that my father like you? I should be the only one you're worried about. As long as we love each other and accept each other, to hell with the rest of the world!" said Matt.

"I guess it's just that since my dad died before I born, I've always craved that father figure. Plus I don't want to be the cause of a family fued." said Amy.

"Oh, honey!" sighed Matt as he leaned over to kiss Amy on the forehead. "I think you're overreacting. Don't worry about him, he'll come around. When he see how happy you make me, he'll be fine."

"I hope you're right. Now let's get in there so I can try to get my mind off of all this." said Amy.

"Now you're talking girl!!" exclaimed Matt as he jumped out of the car and ran over to open Amy's door. "Let's get in there and show these people how to dance!!"

Amy chuckled as she said, "As long as you've learned to dance more like Jeff, we'll be fine, otherwise, they'll need to be teaching you how to dance."

Matt pretending to be hurt said, "Now that was uncalled for." and stomped ahead of Amy.

"Yeah, and I'm the one overreacting!" exclaimed Amy.
