Paul E and Madusa can’t even behave at a weigh-in! Paul E weighed in at a handsome 188 pounds, while Madusa weighed in at 144 pounds. Apparently, Paul E said something to piss her off and they got into another pull-apart brawl. Wow, such sexual tension! Why don’t they just do it already?

Brad Armstrong vs. Brian Pillman

Back at the last Clash in September, Armstrong couldn’t compete against Pillman in a light heavyweight title defense because of an injury and now Pillman is injured and on a crutch. OR IS HE? Armstrong turns away during the pre-match confrontation and Pillman starts nailing him in the back of his knee with the crutch! JR ~ “He wasn’t hurt!” Ya think? Pillman’s ready to go and he dares Armstrong to get into the ring. Armstrong’s knee is gone, but he still manages to knock Pillman to the other side of the ring. When he turns away again, Pillman strikes with a chop block and pins Armstrong for the 1-2-3. (0:28) That JERK! As far as I know, this ends the Pillman/Armstrong feud and pretty much the end of any kind of push for Armstrong. This gets a * just for Pillman being such an awesome heel douche bag.

We get another misogynistic promo from Paul E. He’s been working out and stuff!

Arn Anderson & Bobby Eaton (w/Michael PS Hayes) vs. Kensuke Sasaki & Erik Watts – Bounty Match

By bounty match, I mean Paul E has given Anderson, Eaton and Hayes a money-earning opportunity to injure Erik Watts. Probably because he’s so green, he stinks up the joint and he’s doing WCW a favor. Eaton starts off paintbrushing this Erik dork on the mat and winds up taking a slap to the mouth for it. Watts armdrags out of an abdominal stretch, but misses a charge and falls on the floor only to catch himself and climb back in the ring and onto the middle rope. He leaps off onto a dazed Eaton, but he misses and still for some reason collides with Eaton. Bobby’s got to be thinking, “WHAT THE &*#$ ARE YOU DOING?!” That’s enough of that, so Sasaki comes in so that the whole match isn’t a complete waste of everyone’s time. Anderson corners him in the DA corner and tags in Eaton. Sasaki kind of screws up a monkey flip and nails Eaton with a dropkick. Arn pulls Eaton out of the corner to avoid a charge and then Sasaki gets dumped. Back in, Arn tags in and chokes Sasaki in the ropes with Hayes getting in a cheapshot. Watts comes over and chases Hayes away. Eaton tags in and takes a powerslam. Watts gets the tag and monkey-flips Eaton into some mounted punching. It turns into a pier-six brawl as Watts gets a near-fall off a lame fireman’s carry slam. Eaton goes to the eyes and climbs up top, but Watts catches him on the way down and applies the STF for the submission win. (6:08) Watts has no idea what he is doing in there. Even the Kensuke Sasaki stuff was off tonight. To make this match even worse, Anderson and Eaton don’t even get in any post-match attacks or anything. CRAP

So now Johnny B. Badd is back with Teddy Long? Johnny’s here to fight and he’s a BAD MAN!

After the commercial break, we meet up with Raven, DDP and “Big Sexy” Kevin Nash! I mean, Scotty Flamingo, Diamond Dallas Page and Vinnie Vegas. Flamingo even has a Don King look-alike on his side. How can he possibly lose? Haha, Vinnie has a little trouble shooting off his mouth so…yeah…let’s go to the ring!

Johnny B. Badd (w/Teddy Long) vs. Scotty Flamingo (w/Diamond Dallas Page & Vinnie Vegas) – Boxing Match

Three two-minute rounds with a one-minute rest period in between rounds. Badd owns Flamingo for the first two minutes of the first round until Vinnie distracts the ref and Flamingo sneaks in a clothesline. Badd comes back with left hooks and knocks Flamingo down, but the end of the round saves Flamingo from a knockout. During the first round rest period, DDP drowns Flamingo’s right hand glove in a bucket of water. Badd punches away to set up for the big wind-up KO punch, but Page distracts him and then Flamingo takes a good hard swing with that right glove. DOWN GOES BADD! DOWN GOES BADD! Patrick counts 1…2…3…4...5…6…7…8…9…10! Scotty Flamingo has just defeated Johnny B. Badd in a boxing match! (2nd round, 1:05) Looking back, there’s something pretty hilarious about Raven, Kevin Nash and DDP giving it their all in these sort of silly comedy matches.

They show a clip from last year’s Starrcade: Battlebowl when Sting & Abdullah the Butcher took on Bobby Eaton & Brian Pillman to show how unpredictable the battlebowl drawings can be, which brings us to Jesse and Missy Hyatt drawing the first two teams at this year’s Starrcade: Battlebowl. The first match will be Cactus Jack & Johnny B. Badd competing against Danny Spivey & Van Hammer! That sounds…like one sucky match.

Cactus Jack, Tony Atlas & The Barbarian vs. Ron Simmons & Too Cold Scorpio – Handicap Match

Scorpio was supposed to be a mystery partner since Robbie Walker was “injured”, but Simmons and Scorpio storm the ring instead. JR & Ventura have no clue who this guy is or anything about him. Anyways, they clear the ring of the crazies and regroup, but Scorpio isn’t satisfied so he topes out onto the meeting of the minds. Once everybody settles down, Simmons clears the ring again. Scorpio and Jack go for a bit. He flips out of a suplex from Cactus and tries a moonsault press (!!!), but Cactus looked to be expecting a crossbody and has no clue how to sell that, so he just falls to the mat. That gets two. Simmons tags in and face slams Jack, but then the champ whiffs on a dropkick. Barbarian tags in for some elbow drops and then “Way Past His Prime” Tony Atlas tags in for some hammering. Jack tags and goes for an elbow drop off the middle rope, but Simmons’ gets his foot up to block. HOT TAG TO SCORPIO! He’s so fast and these guys are so slow, he doesn’t even know what to do so he sticks with dropkicks. Atlas tosses out Scorpio so they can triple-team Simmons. Barb goes for the KICK OF FEAR, but Simmons ducks and Atlas gets nailed with it instead. Simmons takes care of Jack and Barb while Scorpio hits the 450 SPLASH on Atlas for 1-2-3. (5:58) Nobody in America had ever seen such a move. Scorpio was instantly over for having the most awesome finisher in all the land. *½

Jesse HAS to find out this guy’s name. Why Jesse, his name is Too Cold Scorpio and he’s here to stay! At least for the next sixteen months!

Next up, we get a special video look at the new tag team of Tom Zenk and Johnny Gunn! Remember all those great matches they had with those other great tag teams? No? I didn’t think so. During the video (which is set to a rip-off of ZZ Top’s “Legs”), our heroes go to a department store and get measured for suits with as little clothing on as possible while the saleswomen get all excited! After they buy suits, they walk out of the store arm-in-arm with two ladies each! Those chicks are going to get fired for real if they don’t get back to work!

Hey, did you know there’s a Jesse Ventura Strongest Arm Competition going on? The winner gets a cool plaque! Simmons has already beaten Austin and Barbarian beat Anderson. Next week on Worldwide, Vinnie Vegas takes on Scotty Flamingo in the arm-wrestling contest. Exciting!

Dangerously cuts one more misogynistic promo before heading out to face Madusa.

Paul E. Dangerously (w/Michael PS Hayes) vs. Madusa – Five Minute Time-Limit

Paul E. Dangerously (complete with head gear and elbow pads like a five year old learning how to skateboard) KO’s Madusa with the phone before the bell and with one hand tied behind his back as previously agreed. That’s it. There’s nothing more to see here because that’s really Madusa and she is totally knocked out cold. Paul E gets the mic and taunts Madusa some more until he grabs her hair which turns out to be a blond wig. HEY WAIT A MINUTE! That’s not Madusa! She’s crawling in the ring behind Paul E right now and then nails him with the CHICK KICK. Madusa gets a slam and Paul E bails all the way to the dressing room, but she brings him back with him on her shoulders. Paul E begs away and Hayes trips up Madusa with two minutes left. Dangerously stomps away and poses, then heads up top for a double ax handle and connects. He poses some more and then turns around into a clothesline. She puts the knees to him and then comes off the middle-rope with a front dropkick! She proceeds to take off his head gear and then his pants! Paul E bails again and the time limit expires. (5:00) Just more silly comedy stuff. Paul E pretty much left WCW within the month and would begin revolutionizing the business elsewhere by the end of ‘93.

Tony meets up with a word from Vader. He can’t wait to be crowned King of Cable and get back his World title. In due time, my friend. At least for the more important prize anyways.

Sting vs. Rick Rude – King of Cable Semi-Finals

In case this match goes to a 20-minute time limit draw, we’ve got Hiro Matsuda, Larry Zbyszko and Ole Anderson as our esteemed judges. Makes it interesting with three former wrestlers who just so happened to all be back-stabbing heels. Sting’s whole game plan is to go after Rude’s ribs, while Rude goes after Sting’s back. After the feeling out process, Sting hits a gutbuster and goes to work. He follows up with kicks and a pair of gourdbusters. Next up, he sits on Rude’s back for a reverse chinlock and then hooks an ab stretch. Rude escapes with a hiptoss and rakes the eyes. He starts burying forearms into Sting’s back, but Sting blocks a suplex and drops Rude across the ropes. They go to the floor where Sting tries a Stinger Splash into the guardrail, but that never works and he nails the steel! Back in, Rude comes down on Sting with a clubbing forearm. Now Rude sits on Sting’s back and applies the reverse chinlock. When Sting starts to stand up, Rude comes down on him. He tries to do some hip swiveling, but boy does his ribs hurt! Matsuda is MESMERIZED! Back to the chinlock. Rude comes down on him again and then delivers a vertical suplex. Back to the chinlock again. When Sting starts to get up this time, he avoids Rude sitting down on him and lets the guy bust his tail on the mat! Sting fires back and tries a slam, but his back gives way and Rude gets two out of that. Rude whips Sting from corner-to-corner and hooks a bearhug with five minutes remaining in the time limit. When Sting starts to fight out, Rude backs him into the corner. He applies the hold in the center of the ring. Sting hammers away, but Rude goes to the eyes. Whip reversal and Sting grabs a sleeper, but Rude quickly escapes with a jawbreaker! Rude slams Sting’s face into the mat several times and then heads up top, but Sting is there to slam him to the mat so that he falls ribs first! Sting follows up with a pair of atomic drops and then a face slam gets 1-2-NO! With under a minute to go, Sting hits a Flying Crossbody for 1-2-NO! He goes for another one, but Rude nails him on the way down. Rude goes for the RUDE AWAKENING, but his ribs are hurting too bad and Sting escapes! Great psychology. Sting knocks Rude into the corner and hits the Stinger Splash! He wants the SCORPION DEATHLOCK, but the time limit has expired. (20:00) Hey, that was one awesome psychological battle mostly thanks to Rude with all the little things he does. Matsuda votes for Sting, Zbyszko votes for Rude and Ole votes for…Sting! Hey I loves my Stinger, but I would’ve probably voted for Rude here. Sting moves onto the finals to face either Rhodes or Vader at Starrcade for the King of Cable cup! ****

WCW/NWA World Tag Team Champions Dustin Rhodes & Barry Windham vs. Ricky Steamboat & Shane Douglas

Interestingly enough or not so interestingly enough, last year at this same event, Ricky Steamboat made his surprise return to WCW by replacing Barry Windham as Dustin Rhodes’ mystery partner to win the WCW tag belts. And now they are facing each other for the WCW and the NWA tag belts! Can’t we all just get along? Why do we have to such greedy, greedy people! They’re all babyfaces by the way, so there shouldn’t be any cheapshots happening in this one. Rhodes and Douglas start the match. Both men trade near-falls in the first minute. More feeling out going on with armbars. Douglas escapes, but gets run down with a shoulderblock and then a school boy gets two. Both guys go for armdrags, then they both try dropkicks and wind up tagging in their partners. Steamboat and Windham go to the floor and boy is that Windham fired up tonight. That goatee of his must be real itchy. They almost throw down out there, but Douglas and Rhodes calm them down because they’re all buddies! Back in, they trade chops and then Steamboat hooks the armdrag into an armbar. Some quick tags exchanged between the challengers while they work on Windham’s arm. Windham punches out, but his suplex is countered. Back to the armbar. Windham punches again, but then misses a corner charge! Steamboat works the armbar some more and then tags in Douglas for a double backdrop. More armbars, but then Douglas misses a crossbody and lands in the ropes. The champs deliver a double-team dropkick for two. Suplex/elbow drop combo gets two. Now the champs go to work on Shane’s arm for a good while. Rhodes works the hammerlock on the mat and tries to turn him over with the half nelson for two. Double-team clothesline gets two. Douglas elbows out of a chinlock and hits a crossbody on Rhodes for 1-2-NO! Windham tags in and delivers a beautiful back suplex for two. Lariat gets another two. Steamboat comes in and Windham has some cross words for him. Rhodes comes back in and works a wristlock, but Douglas comes back with a nice crossbody out of the corner for two. Rhodes then whiffs on a dropkick and Douglas makes the HOT TAG TO STEAMBOAT! He delivers a couple shoulderblocks and gets nearfalls off them. Crossbody gets two. Rhodes reverses a whip with a hiptoss and hits a dropkick for two. Inside cradle gets two. Shoulderblock from Rhodes gets two. Rhodes runs the ropes and then nails Steamboat in the crotch with his head off a leapfrog. Rhodes likes to follow the rules and not take advantage of a hurt man, so he doesn’t follow up. Windham is freakin’ LIVID! He tags himself in and gives Steamboat an inverted atomic drop! HAHAHA! That gets 1-2-NO! Douglas comes in and Windham scares him away with words! Windham lifts Steamboat up and gives him ANOTHER inverted atomic drop! He follows that up with the Lariat and goes for the cover, but Rhodes pulls him off of Steamboat! Windham shoves Rhodes, so Rhodes tries to slap some sense into him. Meanwhile, Steamboat crawls over and tags in Douglas. Windham slaps back and Rhodes punches him in the face! Windham is dazed! He turns around and takes a BELLY-TO-BELLY SUPLEX from Douglas for 1-2-3! (15:53) We’ve got NEW tag champs! After the match, Windham just sits there on his knees and stares at Dustin. As Dustin walks away, Barry SCREAMS for Dustin to get back in the ring with him. He comes back in and tries to explain why he did what he did, but Barry doesn’t want to hear excuses so he BLASTS him in the gut with a kick and gives him a DDT! Ref Randy Anderson tries to stop it, but Windham shoves him away and then gives Rhodes a SUPERPLEX! Yeah, I believe this friendship stuff is over! By the way, a very good match with an awesome ending. ****

In the back, Jesse Ventura meets up with the new champs. Ricky says he ‘s glad they won the belts and calls Dustin his friend. That’s when Barry has heard enough and KO’s Steamboat and Douglas with a STEEL CHAIR! Somebody call security.

Final Thoughts: A very entertaining show except for the Erik Watts fiasco of a match. Luckily, that guy would never be on my Clash of the Champions shows ever again. Anyways, a major improvement over the last Clash with a couple of four-star matches, a somewhat memorable heel turn, and that mid-carder Kevin Nash makes an appearance! Again, an entertaining show plus the absolute end of the Dangerous Alliance era in WCW. I’ll give Clash #21 a thumbs up, but just fast-forward past the Erik Watts match. *shivers*
