WCW World Television Champion: Diamond Dallas Page (9/17/1995)

Your hosts are Eric Bischoff, Bobby Heenan and that Emmy-award winning Steve “Mongo” McMichael.

Randy Savage vs. Kurasawa (w/Col. Robert Parker)
We immediately go right into our first match. Typical Savage match for Nitro. He takes kick after kick from Kurasawa. Since his finisher is the Fujiwara armbar, he works the arm a little bit too. After a commercial break, Kurasawa is still in control. On the floor, Kurasawa misses a roundhouse kick and hits the post! Back in, Savage blocks an attempt at a armbar takedown and sends Kurasawa throat-first into the top rope. And just like that, the MACHO ELBOW gets the 1-2-3. (6:05 shown) 95% Kurasawa, 5% Savage. Yeah, that sounds about right. *

While Bischoff and friends talk about things, the arena goes pitch black! The Dungeon of Doom gate keeper shows up either on a screen or a ledge to introduce the insurance package to end Hulkamania. The package comes in the form of a big huge block of ice. The Dungeon of Doom father/gate keeper goes on and on about nothing. But what’s in the block of ice? Hope it’s not the Gobbledy Gooker. Kevin Sullivan and the Giant finally come along to make some sense of what that guy said. Okay, the Yeti is inside the ice. Scary stuff. We’ll find out who the true immortal is at Halloween Havoc! Call your cable operator!

After a commercial break, Gene Okerlund calls out Hulk Hogan and Jimmy Hart. He’s still dressed all in black. Hogan tells us that he feels all alone. He explains that there’s evil stuff you can do when you wear black gloves and a black rag on your head. He says he might even keep these black clothes after Halloween Havoc. Hmm. Hogan says he’s tired of licking his wounds and then rips off his neck brace. This interview basically separates him from Savage, Luger and Sting since he feels he can’t trust anybody. EMO HULK~!

WCW Saturday Night! Watch it! 6:05PM eastern! TBS! The American Males defend the WCW world tag titles against Harlem Heat! Lex Luger battles Shark! Hulk Hogan will make an appearance to whine some more! Don’t miss it! It’s the MUTHASHIP! PAY WINDAHS AND ALL THAT PLUNDAH, BABY!

Eddie Guerrero & Mr. JL (w/Alex Wright) vs. Chris Benoit & Dean Malenko
JL’s subbing for Alex Wright since he’s got a knee injury. Wright shows up at ringside on crutches though. We see some nice chain wrestling from Eddie and Benoit to start. Benoit and Malenko attempt a double team as Benoit looks to hiptoss Malenko on top of Guerrero, but he slides out to avoid all that. Malenko delivers a pescado on top of Guerrero and then holds him for a suicide dive from Benoit, but Eddie moves and Dean gets nailed! With both men down on the floor, Eddie launches JL out on top of them. Awesome! Back in, Guerrero lucha armdrags Malenko, but then gets hit with a jumping shin kick. Eddie comes back with a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. Tag to JL, Guerrero launches him into Malenko in the corner. There’s stuff happening in the locker room! Shark and Scott Norton are fighting one another because of a match Shark cost Norton against Randy Savage like six weeks ago. Why couldn’t that have waited?! Back to the ring. Benoit avoids a victory roll and leads JL into a right hand from the apron by Malenko. Tag to Malenko, he grabs a deep abdominal stretch as we go to a freaking commercial break. Afterwards, Malenko hits a corner clothesline and a belly-to-belly suplex for two. Benoit tags in for a double headbutt to JL. Now JL counters a powerbomb with a lucha armdrag, but then whiffs on a dropkick. Benoit drops JL across the top rope. He blocks a turnbuckle smash and gives Benoit one instead. JL heads up top, but Malenko grabs hold of his leg to keep him from flying. Benoit comes over and delivers a superplex that nearly breaks his own neck in the process. Malenko tags, but his Tiger Driver is countered into a backslide for 1-2-NO! Jumping back elbow from JL connects. HOT TAG TO EDDIE! Malenko tries to cool him off immediately with a kick to the gut on his way in, but Guerrero doesn’t let that stop him. Dropkicks for everybody! Armdrag and headscissors to Malenko AND Benoit! Fantastic. Eddie and Benoit go to the floor, leaving JL and Malenko in the ring. As Malenko comes off the ropes, Alex Wright sticks one of his crutches under Malenko’s feet to trip him into a VICTORY ROLL by JL for 1-2-3! (9:10 shown) On Guerrero’s way to the back, Brian Pillman comes in out of nowhere and drops him with a DDT. **¾

Harlem Heat (w/Sister Sherri) vs. Sting & Lex Luger
Mongo makes a joke about In Your House by calling it “In Your Outhouse”. Lame. Heenan says nothing. Smart man. Sting’s wearing the red and yellow and sporting a Fu Manchu to show he’s still a Hulkamaniac. Booker and Sting start the match. Leapfrogs off headlocks kick us off. Sting takes Booker over the top rope for a hiptoss, which should be a DQ. Back in, Sting delivers a backdrop to Booker. Luger tags in and drops a double sledge to take us into a commercial break. Instead of returning to the match, Bischoff hypes a movie that comes on after Nitro starring Burt Reynolds and Loni Anderson called Stroker Ace. Fast cars, fast women and fried chicken? I couldn’t possibly make this crap up. We come back to see Stevie Ray working a nerve hold on Luger. Stevie Ray’s not foreign? When he starts to get to his feet, Stevie Ray tags Booker for a dropkick. The Heat begin to cheat here and there by cornering Luger for some choking action. Axe Kick connects as we see Sherri looking at some Polaroid shots of her and the Colonel. She literally pulls them out of her butt. Stevie Ray works on a chinlock for a little bit. He tags Booker for the HARLEM HANGOVER, but that misses. HOT TAG TO STING! He goes nuts on Harlem Heat – hitting them with Stinger Splashes all over the place. Stevie Ray saves his brother from certain doom with a SCORPION DEATHLOCK with a side kick. The Heat dump Sting and gives Luger a double suplex. They think Sting’s gone, but he’s on the top rope. Flying clothesline to Booker! Cover, 1-2-3. (7:39) Felt more like a main event on Saturday Night. *½

The Giant attacks! Chokeslam to Luger! Chokeslam to Sting! Savage runs down to save, but Hogan steals his thunder by coming down and slapping the Giant on the back to get his attention. Savage leaves Hogan to himself as he starts firing away on the Giant. NO EFFECT! Giant hammers Hogan down, but he HULKS UP and starts punching him again. He rocks him good a couple times and then smashes Giant’s head into the turnbuckle. The rest of the Dungeon of Doom storm the ring with Hogan and Savage taking them all on. Head of Security Doug Dellinger brings a billy club with him to stop this madness! Meanwhile, the ice explodes with the YETI breaking loose! And like an explosion, the video feed cuts off and leaves you hanging as to what the heck just happened.
