Let’s take a look at Johnny Gunn and Tom Zenk! It’s the same “Legs” video we saw back at the Clash.

Johnny B. Badd vs. Diamond Dallas Page These two guys careers would follow each other until Mero left for the WWF in March of ’96. I guess you could call this the revenge match for Page helping Flamingo cheat at the Clash in the boxing match by drowning his glove with water. That’s right - Johnny wants his REVENGE! Page sneak attacks Badd and whips him into the corner, but Badd tries to counter a corner charge with a Jack Brisco rollup and they screw it all up. Page works a front headlock and Badd escapes into an armbar. Badd runs into an elbow and then takes a swinging neckbreaker from Page. Badd then avoids a pair of elbow drops and fires back with the High Knee to set up the Flying Sunset Flip for the 1-2-3. (2:45) Pretty energetic little match there. *

It’s WCW Magazine time with Eric Bischoff. Johnny Gunn and Tom Zenk are feuding with newcomers Tex Slazenger and Shanghai Pierce (better known as the Godwinns from the WWF). They cut a short promo and say they are going to rope those cowboys up and ride ‘em! Whoa.

Next up, we’ve got the final first round arm wrestling match in the Jesse Ventura Invitational Strongest Arm Tournament or JVISAT for short. It’s going to be Vader vs. Nikita Koloff. Vader tries to intimidate Koloff by turning the table over and grunting at him. Once they finally agree on the grip, they go back and forth until Vader psyches himself up “NO PAIN! NO PAIN!” and then screams “VADERRRRR!” and puts Nikita down to advance. Shouldn’t Nikita seriously be gone by now?

Tony meets up with Rick Rude and Madusa for an interview. Rude blasts the Watts family and makes a challenge to Erik for next week’s Worldwide. Will he accept the challenge? We’ll find out later in the show!

Scotty Flamingo vs. Brad Armstrong

I think you can put Brad right beside Bobby Eaton as one of the most underrated wrestlers of all time. Brad hits a Mr. Wrestling II knee-lift for two, then goes to a headlock. Flamingo escapes into a headscissors, but Armstrong counters that into a toehold as Flamingo makes the ropes. Headlock again, but they’re doing things with it. That makes all the difference. Armstrong hits a shoulderblock out of the headlock and then a hiptoss, but runs into a boot in the corner. Armstrong catches him with a back elbow though and delivers the RUSSIAN LEGSWEEP. Cover, 1-2-NO! Flamingo has his foot under the bottom rope. When the ref walks away with Armstrong, Flamingo whips out some taped knux out of his trunks and nails Armstrong for the 1-2-3. (2:59) Johnny B. Badd runs down and he’s PISSED at Flamingo has succeeded AGAIN from his cheating ways. Badd tells the ref what happened and Flamingo pleads innocence until he slips the knux back on and takes a swing at Badd. Badd ducks and punches him in the stomach. The knux fall to the mat, so Johnny puts them on and takes a swing at Flamingo to send him running away. With all the taped knux business going on, ref Nick Patrick reverses the decision and gives the match to Armstrong by DQ. *

WCW Magazine segment #2. Bischoff plugs Starrcade. The weird tag-team possibilities are endless!

Now let’s go back to the Clash where Rhodes and Windham not only lost the WCW/NWA tag belts, but lost their friendship as well. Awesome stuff.

Oh snap! Jim Ross is in the Starrcade control center! The matches on the card will include the NWA world champ Masa Chono defending his title against Great Muta, WCW world champ Ron Simmons taking on the #1 contender Rick Rude, Sting will face Vader in the King of Cable finals, and don’t forget about all the endless crazy insane tag-team possibilities for Battlebowl. It’s going to be NUTZ!

Erik Watts vs. Chick Donovan

Donovan is a decent jobber and all, but not even he can get a good match with this guy. STF gets the win. (1:02) Watts accepts Rude’s challenge. It’s ON!

WCW Magazine segment #3. Bischoff puts Slazenger and Pierce over and then they cut a promo about beating up pretty boys down in Texas. After that promo, Bischoff tells us that Slazenger and Pierce like to do their talking inside the ring. In other words, they suck on the mic and you probably won’t hear much from them once I’m in charge.

Sting vs. The Barbarian (w/ Cactus Jack)

Nothing like a good ol’ fashioned Sting glorified squash to end a show. He tries to match power with Barbarian to start, but that’s not going to happen. Sting out-quicks him instead and dropkicks Barb to the floor. Sting follows him out and chases Cactus away. Will Barbarian capitalize on the sneak attack? No! Sting beats him back into the ring instead. Sting runs the ropes and gets his balls introduced to Barbarian’s head off the leapfrog. Man, 1987 called. Barbarian takes over on Sting with power moves. Sting flips out of a Canadian backbreaker using the ropes, but then Barbarian puts him down with a clothesline and hooks a bearhug. Sting hammers out, but runs into a knee. Barbarian goes for the FLYING HEADBUTT, but Sting moves. Some heel miscommunication follows and Sting hits a flying body press for 1-2-3! (6:57) About as good as you’re probably going to get . *½

Final Thoughts: I bet that Rude/Watts match drew a better rating than this past week’s Impact. Baha. All kidding aside, definitely not one of the better Worldwide episodes.
