Jeff HardyNewsMatt Hardy

June 11, 2001

Wow! Has a lot happened in the lives of Matt and Jeff Hardy since I last updated, or what? I guess it's only fair to start at the beginning (meaning since I last updated this section). Matt and Lita have since become an item. Notice I said "Lita" and not "Amy" - there's a reason for that, people, and it is because, contrary to what I've been reading these past few months on certain websites, Matt and Amy are not  dating, are not  a couple, but are just friends. Amy herself has stated exactly that in the Rolling Stone Magazine issue in which she and The Rock are featured. Okay, that was just to clear things up for some of you.

Congratulations must go out to Jeff for having defeated Jerry Lynn for the Light Heavyweight Title on last week's SmackDown (it's about time!) and a belated congrats also goes out to Matt for having defeated Eddy Guerrero for the European Title. So far, he's been very successful at retaining the championship, and I commend him for that as well. I guess this is the "split" the WWF were waiting to give the Boyz, even though they still team up quite often. It's refreshing to see both of them with singles titles and in singles matches, but I'm glad they still team up.

Finally, what's the deal with Eddy Guerrero? (it's been rumored that Eddy has a problem with his leg, perhaps a reaggravated old injury, which is why he hasn't been around for the past week or so) Guerrero has split from the Radicalz to join up with Lita and the Hardyz, which is quite suspicious. Before his recent absence, as recently as two weeks ago on RAW, it appeared as if Eddy might have had more than a friendly interest in Lita as he enveloped her in a hug after she helped him to defeat Albert. It also appeared that he and Matt were possibly going to have their problems, as Matt was extremely jealous when he saw Lita go to Eddy Guerrero's aid after "Latino Heat" was tossed out of the ring to the arena floor during their tag team match against X-Factor. I honestly don't know what, if anything is going to come out of this if Eddy is injured, but I'll be very disappointed if this angle doesn't continue where it left off when Guerrero returns to action.

(Sorry for the lack of updates to all who are reading this; I have very limited internet access due to my internet being deleted from my work computer and not having access at home) Anyways, onward to the Boyz!

Rumor has it, unfortunately, that Matt and Jeff are going to be splitting up pretty soon, despite their surprise win against the Dudley Boyz on this past RAW. By the way, I must interject for a moment - WOO HOOOO!!! Four-time tag team champions! You go, Boyz! :) Seriously, though, did anyone else think they were going to break up the team right then and there on Monday? After Jeff told Matt that he'd accidentally splashed Lita (instead of intended victim Val Venis), it seemed that a dispute would certainly arise. Then, later, when the Boyz came out for their title shot, Jeff seemed not at all like his usual, jovial self. He obviously felt really badly about what had happened earlier. Poor guy, he really took the worst abuse in that match. Matt seemed to get a bit pissed off, too. But the end result, of course, was sheer beauty - even though Christian came out and attacked D-Von Dudley behind the referee's back, thus helping the Hardyz to win the match.

Even so . . . anybody else smell a split between Matt and Jeff? And if Matt is (evidently) the one who will be turing heel, don't be surprised to see Lita dump him for Jeff!

Whew!  Finally I have a chance to do another update on our favorites - Matt and Jeff.  Over the last two months the Boyz (as well as Lita) have had their hands full.  Winning championship gold only to lose it unfairly to "The Conquistadors" at No Mercy last month.  It was quite obvious that these were not the jobber Conquistadors that some of us remember from the 80s WWF era.  On the contrary, their high flying maneuvers of late were just too similar to those of our favorite goofballs, Edge and Christian (SO reeking of awesomeness! :).  Matt and Jeff knew it was the two blond crybabies who were under those metallic gold outfits and masks and took it upon themselves to attempt to de-mask them at the last PPV, but to no avail.  "The Conquistadors" walked away with Matt and Jeff's tag team belts.

However, what occurred the very next night on RAW really reeked of awesomeness . . . Edge & Christian were slated to face a pair of phony Conquistadors masquerading as Edge & Christian as the Conquistadors (what???) for a title shot.  But after Christian was attacked and put through a table backstage by the Dudley Boyz, Edge vowed to take on the "new champs" alone and, to quote him, "totally bring home the gold!"  Edge looked a bit confused as he watched the Conquistadors coming down the ramp to the ring.  Perhaps he thought these were the real Conquistadors - and after he smacked one of the duo around a bit in the ring, arrogantly thinking he had the match in his pocket - whoo hoo!  Once the other "Conquistador" was tagged in, it was clear that the guys under the masks and outfits were our very favorites.  The crowd went wild as they executed Poetry in Motion, the Twist of Fate and finally, the Swanton Bomb for the pinfall and win on Edge.  :)))

Championship belts in their hands, Matt and Jeff climbed up the ramp to unmask.  At this point Christian had come out to investigate what happened.  Edge & Christian were busted!  Commissioner Mick Foley announced that the cameras had caught them red-handed, admitting to having posed as the Conquistadors the night before at No Mercy.  The two guys originally to pose as the team were named Rick and Sparky, whom they'd found at, according to Christian, a Sunoco station.  Mick allowed their title win from the PPV to stand, but as the shortest tag team title reign in history - and then allowed the Hardyz their win on RAW that night!

However, since then, Matt and Jeff have been robbed of their championship. :(  New tag champs Bull Buchanan and the Goodfather of Right to Censor defeated them in part thanks to Edge and Christian and Steven Richards' interference.  What are the WWF thinking?  Why oh why would they award any championship gold to the Goodfather?!  That guy sucks, no matter what persona he takes on!  Bull Buchanan is good, but the Hardyz are the most deserving!!!  Hopefully, over the next few weeks the feud between RTC and the Boyz continues so that Matt and Jeff will get plenty of chances to reclaim their title.

Finally, another update...What's going on lately? Every time it looks as if the Boyz are about to recapture the tag team title, it's snatched up from under them like a rug! There was so much speculation by so many that Matt and Jeff would wear the gold once again after SummerSlam, especially as the PPV was held in their home state of North Carolina. But no, once again the Boyz got shut out and Edge and Christian prevailed, despite Lita's helping hand. When, oh when are the Hardyz going to get the belts again?! If not in their home state during a pay-per-view, then where/ when???

June 14, 2000

Over the last couple of weeks, the Boyz have been venturing into the singles match territory. Not a bad thing at all, although lately I've been having to review twice as many matches! :) After incidents between Jeff Hardy and Chris Benoit, could the WWF be setting something big up? Benoit dogged Jeff not once, but twice, nailing him with the Intercontinental belt. Although Benoit faced Matt in a title defense this past RAW, it seems as if Benoit's got a bigger problem with Jeff than with Matt. Maybe a feud is being set up here??? If so, it would be nice to see it end up with a Hardy once again wearing gold!

It seems lately that the WWF is giving the Boyz an anti-push. Strange, considering the fact that only a month ago, they were being pushed quite nicely. It seemed that they were going to be the ones to go after Edge and Christian's tag team championship. But no. Instead, Matt and Jeff have been losing their tag team matches as of late, and although Jeff won a match on Heat a couple of weeks back, Matt lost his. What's going on??? I hope the WWF realizes what bright stars they have in both Boyz and that they get their good push again, because they deserve it!

It was interesting to see the Hardyz involved in the Hardcore thing for a short while, even though Matt and Jeff battled against each other.  While I was disappointed that Matt lost the title (unfairly!) to Crash "Elroy Jetson" Holly on SmackDown last week, it was mega cool to see him as a singles champion.  I am, however, glad that he and Jeff are back together in tag team competition, and although they were defeated by Too Cool during their first match back together on Raw this week, this is where they're at their absolute best - as a team.  Hopefully, the WWF will start giving them a push once again so they can achieve their ultimate goal, becoming the WWF Tag Team Champions, once again.

Congratulations to Matt for winning the Hardcore title on RAW last night!!! I have to admit, this was something I personally never expected. At first I thought if one of the Boyz won, that he would get pinned seconds later by one of the other guys. I also thought that Jeff would have been the Hardy to win such a match and title. Not to take anything away from Matt; he is actually my favorite Hardy - but I have to be honest and say that I worry about him being involved in the Hardcore mix because of the injuries he's sustained over the past couple of months. I would hate for him to get hurt again.

Scanning and re-scanning the tape of that very impromptu Hardcore title match last night, I couldn't help noticing (sort of) Jeff's reaction to Matt's victory. From what I saw, he looked . . . shall I say, less than thrilled! I noticed that little brother didn't follow big brother up the ramp like he usually does. Uh oh. What does this mean???

While I definitely think Matt and Jeff could produce some excellent matches as opponents, I would hate to see the Hardy Boyz split up as a team. They are the best tag team in the WWF, or in any of the 3 major feds, for that matter. But as always, only time will tell what's in store for Matt and Jeff Hardy. I can't wait - I'm already thirsting for more.

April 20, 2000

Well, it seems like lately the Boyz aren't involved in any sort of angle.  They are, however, winning a lot of matches against very impressive opponents, which is good.  It must mean that the WWF is setting them up for big things as far as a championship match against Edge and Christian sometime in the (near?) future.  The only complaint I have is that Matt and Jeff have not been on the mic since WrestleMania.  Hopefully, that will change soon.  And I would expect there to be a post-WrestleMania  interview lying around somewhere after the unbelievable, impressive match they had with E&C and the Dudleys.  Time will tell...

April 4, 2000

After WrestleMania 2000's triangle tag team championship ladder match, the Boyz were spared from wrestling on RAW.  Although I was disappointed they didn't have a match, I was glad that they didn't have to wrestle.  As always, Matt and Jeff took some incredible bumps at WM, and they are only human.  And lord knows, they DESERVE a break!  If you cruise on over to their official site, you'll see a post from Matt on the message board - he says that he and Jeff emerged from WM without any major injuries but that it would be several days before they would wake up without pain.  (poor guys)  In any event, it should be interesting to see where the Boyz's feud with Edge and Christian takes them next.
