LOVE STINKS

Love stinks
by Mike Pachuta

Love stinks.
That's all there is to it. It's not worth the trouble or the expense. Of course, I'm speaking from the male point of view here, but really, what's the point?
You meet a girl. She is the most absolutely beautiful, stunning and amazing person in the world. All you think about is how you are going to talk to her. After worrying and freaking out for however long, you finally work up the courage to ask this woman out. At this point, two things could happen. She could say yes, or she could say, "No I don't think so, and by the way, I would never like to look at you again." Great choices right?
About a year ago, one man in the World Wrestling Federation risked total embarrassment in front of thousands of people, and millions more on TV. Test, my hero when it comes to asking women out, got a microphone and simply asked the one woman he wanted to be with to have dinner with him.
What a moment it was when Stephanie McMahon came out smiling and said yes.
Over the course of the next few months, we saw a strong bond develop between the two. They fell in love. At first, it was kind of a forbidden love. Both her dad and brother were against the relationship from the start. No way was their little girl going to date a superstar. They thought that in the end she would get hurt.
Stephanie's family finally came around. And the love between Stephanie and Test grew even stronger than anyone could have imagined. Test was in love, and knew who he wanted to be with for the rest of his life. What a strong feeling that must be. It's an emotion that some people only wish they could feel, and that others think they may never feel.
So, in front of millions of people, he asked that woman to marry him. This is the bravest man ever. And she said yes again!
The rest of the story is pretty sad. Stephanie gets amnesia and can't remember Test. Finally she does, and asks him to marry her. The night of the wedding, another man reveals that he, in fact, married the woman of Test's dreams the week before. The whole scenario was part of a diabolical plan to get to her father. And Stephanie has been happy ever since.
But what about Test? Speaking from experience, he must feel like he is stuck in a permanent Stink Face. To make matters even worse, his former fiancee is also his boss and he works with her every day. So he has to suffer the pain of seeing her at the side of Triple H wherever he goes.
When a person breaks your heart, your love for them quickly turns into anger and hate. How must Test feel after being left at the altar, again in front of millions of people? While the possibility of embarrassment is pretty high when you just ask a girl out, the sheer pain of embarrassment must be even greater standing alone on your wedding day.
Stephanie has not been shy about using her power in the World Wrestling Federation as a tool to get anyone to do as she wishes. Recently, Test has been the subject of her and her husband's power trips. And he has not been happy about it.
It should be Test who makes his entrances with Women's Champion Stephanie McMahon-Test by his side. He should be holding his title high in the air. He should be the man who gets to take her home at night. After all, he was the man who put his career on the line just by asking her out. What did Triple H do to get this girl to love him? He used her to get to her dad and win the Federation Championship. Real classy.
Test is obviously still in love with the woman. He tried to get in Triple H's face backstage on RAW a few Mondays ago. If he really hated Stephanie that much, he would have lay down and let The Rock pin him. But he didn't. He battled harder than ever. He wanted to win. In his mind, maybe if he won, she would have seen what he was still willing to do for her. Maybe she saw that anyway. Maybe she still feels something for him, but who knows.
Right now the good guy, my hero, Test, is losing. I only hope that one day this love story will have a happy ending. That's the way all love stories should end.
Unfortunately, the World Wrestling Federation is rooted in reality. Stephanie would just break his heart again.
