1.This was a match to determine the first ever MLW X-treme Champion with PAT being crowned the first X-treme Champion.

2.The MLW X-treme Title had been vacated when PAT lost a career ending match on the July 6th episode of Saturday Night Fire to Hot Shot Eddy Cashmere due to outside interference from MLW owner $E-Money$. Money vacated the title. The Sickness won a #1 Contenders match at Patriot Games on July 27th to earn the right to compete from the Xtreme Title. PAT was rehired and put into a Triple Threat match with The Sickness and $E-Money'$ apparent handpicked champ, Nemesis at Summer Madness on August 31st, 2002. Nemesis hit PAT with the Devastator, Sickess gave Nemesis the Infection, but pinned PAT to become the new MLW X-Treme Champion.
