MLW Interview with Ryan "Shotgun" Morris! Part 1.

Interview with Ryan Shotgun Morris conducted on 11-10-01

This is a 2 part interview conducted with one of the key members of the original MLW: Ryan Shotgun Morris, in this segment, Ryan talks about the begining of MLW, his most memorable matches and the begining and the end of the MLW/UWA relationship in his own words.

MLW: Hello there Shotgun, how are you today?

Shotgun: not bad, one sec while i tell my bitches to get out of the room, just kidding

MLW: Better reload your ammo there Shotgun

Shotgun: hey, u better watch ur step there interviewing man before i unload on you

MLW: Ok, ok relax, now to the interview, First of introduce yourself to the fans

Shotgun: Well, unless you've been underneath a rock or a very fat gay man, my name is Ryan "Shotgun" Morris, one of the founding fathers of Major League Wrestling

MLW: Treamendous, would you care to add more?

Shotgun: No, but since you asked politely, I am a 4-time MLW World Champ, 15 time MLW International Champ, and an only God knows how many time MLW Tag Champ. But, none of those tag title wins will matter until myself and The Outlaw Vic Prime win the tag titles as Rebel Arsenal

MLW: Yes, that is quite the title history, how is your partner The Outlaw doing?

Shotgun: He's doing just fine, but why don't you ask your mom, he was with her last night! Boom!

MLW: AH ha ha! 1 for you Mr. Morris, bet lets get serious, lets talk about the begining of MLW since you are one of its franchise players

Shotgun: Well, if I remember correctly, MLW began in 1983, 1 month before I was born with Crazy Iggie as the first MLW Champion. I started actively competing in the fed in 1987. We wrestled in Granny's Arena, which was our Grandmother's basement. By we, I mean myself, and my two cousins, Notorious Neil and Matt Casey.

Shotgun: There were other wrestlers there, including Cindy The Black Rose, who I'm sure is the first female wrestler to wrestle with males in history, Charlene The Queen, Sara Da' Boss, Hammerin' Aaron Boo, Edgar The Joker, too many names to remember, but it was basically me, Neil, and Matt.

MLW: And from that list of superstars, only you 3 survived, can you tell us why you decided to move MLW from underground to mainstream?

Shotgun: Well, we were really confined in that small 6 foot 5 inch tall basement and we had done all we could. We couldn't have ladder matches, our best attempt at a cage match was who could escape the basement first and it ended in about 30 seconds. Plus, we wanted the public to know about MLW. We knew there were more wrestlers who wanted to be in MLW and I doubt our grandma would let them into her basement.

MLW: Yes, that would be a tight fit. So what happend with the other MLW wrestlers?

Shotgun: Cindy the Black Rose, Charlene The Queen, and Sara Da Boss are on a street corner somewhere in Times Square, Aaron Boo is training to get a growth spurt so he can compete with MLW, Crazy Iggie is retired, but works in the MLW front office along with Manny The Hamm, and Edgar The Joker returned to his homeland of Malta where he runs our MLW Europe Offices.

Shotgun: And unfortunately, long-time jobber, Jonathan Weidermeyer got hit by 5 mac trucks while giving a construction worker a blow job. He died shortly after and no one seemed to care.

MLW: That is quite sad, That the 3 female MLW wrestlers are now working the street corners of NY, but now onto the new MLW, what do you think of the current talent MLW has aquirred?

Shotgun: The truth is, we are the best talent in the backyard wrestling circuit in NY. Top to bottom, this is a great roster.

Shotgun: With more talent to come.

MLW: As a wise man said...aint that the truth!

Shotgun: Who said that? They stole that line from me! I'll kill that bastard!

MLW: Calm down Shotgun! Now onto the begining of the new MLW, When MLW started anew, MLW invaded the Underground Wrestling Association, care to give us more information on that?

Shotgun: Ok. While searching on the internet for other backyard talent, the webmaster of mlwwrestling.com stumbled across the UWA. We got in contact with their owner, Doug aka The Reaper. I talked directly to Doug about the possibility of us doing some matches at one of their shows because we didn't have an arena yet. Doug said sure, invited us down, and as MLW fans know, The Outlaw and myself had a match and showed the crowd what MLW was about.

MLW: Yes, it was quite the match, Then more MLW matches followed and it would be iminent that a MLW/UWA showdown would happen, but it got sidetracked, care to enlighten us on what happened?

Shotgun: Well, as you said, we had more matches at their shows. The triple threat match with myself, Achy Breaky Heart, and Notorious Niel, Pat and DangeRuss Diddy for the Extreme Title, The Outlaw and Big D, $E-Money and The Sickness, and who could forget me giving Sickness a concussion with my Speeding Bullet in the match also involving UWA wrestlers, Max, Reaper, and Deadpool!

MLW: Yes, quite possibly the parden the pun sickest move ever delivered in MLW

Shotgun: yes it is.

Shotgun: The stage was set for When Worlds Collide, MLW v.s. UWA, but problems arose and egos clashed and the plug got pulled on the show because of fear that a brawl would ensue.

MLW: That really could have gotten ugly, but it looks like both parties have had an agreement to each do their own thing and not have a problem like that again, any thing else you would like to add to the UWA topic?

Shotgun: Yea, things have been worked out for the better and I respect the UWA and its talent. I wish them the best of luck in the future.

Shotgun: But, MLW has its own shows to worry about.
