PART 1Matt watched his brother walk away with Amy on his arm. He couldn't believe the same argument they'd already had far too many times had happened once again. Amy is such a manipulative bitch, Matt thought. He thought to moments earlier when the argument had erupted. Jeff had come to his older brother seeking advice, "Matt?" he had asked, "yeah, bro, what'cha need?" Matt had answered. "Well, see, I know this is a sore subject between you and me, but I need some help. I went to meet Amy in front of her dressing room and the door was locked. When she finally opened it, her clothes were rumpled and the bathroom door was locked. I'm kind of suspicious, Matt. You don't think she was cheating on me, do you?" Jeff asked, hoping for reassurance. Instead, Matt got hot, raving mad about his brother's ignorance. "Jeff! You fool! I've told you far too many times, Amy is a goddamn bitch! She is fucking worthless! She is just using you, bro. I don't know why and I can't understand why you are subjecting yourself to this when it's so painfully obvious how horrible she treats you. Everyone can see it, and everyone feels sorry for your stupid ass." Jeff's face went bleak. "Matt, goddammit." He said, breathing in slowly. "Stop treating me like I'm stupid. I know what I saw, I know it looked bad, but I know Amy loves me, and when it comes to love there's always a good explanation." "Jeff!" Matt yelled, shaking his shoulders. "The girl is a WHORE. It's not love, I've told you far too many times to dump her worthless ass." "You know what, Matt!" Jeff yelled, "fuck you!" Matt was shocked. His brother had never said that to him, ever. "She is not a whore! She does not treat me horribly! You just don't know what it's like to have someone who loves you, you stupid asshole!" Matt went white. That last line was a low blow. Jeff knew how Matt was when it came to women. In his 26 years, Matt had never actually been in "love." He'd had girlfriends and had been very happy with at least two, but he'd never known someone who "completed" him, like Amy supposedly did for Jeff. Matt clenched his fist. "Damn you, Jeff. Why did you go there?" He shoved his brother back, and Jeff tumbled over the bench where he'd been changing his clothes. Jeff, being a bit more agile then Matt, quickly jumped up and hit his brother in the gut. Matt grabbed his stomach and Jeff jumped on him, knocking them both to the floor. They wrestled on the ground, and the commotion brought their friends Adam and Jason into the room. "What the fuck is going on in here?" Adam asked, pulling Matt off his brother. Jason grabbed Jeff, and held him back while he tried to jump out of Jason's grip. "Get the fuck off me! Matt needs to learn a lesson!" Jeff yelled while squirming. Matt resisted Adam's grip, but soon realized what fools he and his brother looked like and calmed down. Jeff was still wiggling and Jason smacked the back of his rainbow colored hair. "Damn, Rainbow Bright," Jason said, using his favorite nickname for Jeff, "calm down, Matt's not trying to hit you anymore." "Don't call me that," Jeff said, shrugging Jason off. Matt walked over to the bench, away from his brother and sat down where he could hide his face from the others. Whenever he thought, he never liked knowing someone was watching him. He felt like they could read his mind. And right now he didn't want Adam or Jay to know how much he wished they hadn't interrupted so he could've beat some sense into Jeff. "Okay, now what the hell just happened?" Jason asked, peering at Jeff and looking over to where Matt had turned his back on the other three men. Jeff looked Jason squarely in the eye and said "Matt was talking shit about my girl again." Jason sighed. "Guys, you two cannot let a woman break you guys apart. You're brothers. You're also friends and a tag team. Why are you ruining it over Amy?" Matt turned around, "I'm not the one ruining it, Jay. You know how she treats him. I can't stand seeing my baby brother being treated like crap and being so oblivious to it." "Goddammit, Matt!" Jeff shouted, almost lunging for him again. "Calm down," Adam said, stepping in front of Jeff just in case. He then turned to Matt. "We've been through this. Jeff is old enough to make his own decisions. Whether we think they are good isn't for us to decide! Matt, you need to accept this. If Jeff says he's happy, believe him! When he says he's not happy is the time to go all protective older brother. Not now, when he IS happy. Do you see?" Matt sighed. Adam and Jay had explained this to him so many damn times. He knew what they said made sense and he did try to accept it. He hated when his brother and him fought. He really did. And with their number one contender match coming up thirteen days on Pay-Per-View, he knew they'd need to be getting along like they had before Amy had been in the picture. Matt stood up. "Look, Jeff, Adam's right. We need to stop fighting about the same - " He stopped talking when he noticed Jeff wasn't even there anymore. "What the -?" Matt asked, then ran to the door. He watched his brother walking down the hall with Amy on his arm.
Jason watched Matt standing at the doorway watching his brother walking away with Amy. Jay sighed and leaned over to Adam, whispering, "we need to do something about this. These guys are our friends and they're being ripped apart by that goddamn bitch." "Whoa!" Adam said, arching his eyebrow. "I thought you agreed, Jeff was the one who should be making Jeff's decisions." "Yeah," Jay said, "but it's killing Matt and you have to admit, Amy's a whore. How many times has she hit on us while with Jeff?" "I know," Adam sighed, "I hate her too. I just wish Jeff could of found a nice girl, that way Matt would be happy for him, instead of being torn up about Jeff getting hurt." "What are you guys whispering about?" Matt asked, interrupting the duo. "Nothing," Adam said, jumping up. "Matty, don't worry about Rainbow Bright." Adam said. "He knows what he's doing and you guys really need to be concentrating on that match. You after all are coming out the number contenders and you guys have been looking forward to that for a long time." "You're right," Matt said, almost cracking a smile at the thought of the gold strapped to his waist. "C'mon, you two, let's get a drink" Jay said, and the trio walked out of the door.
Jeff and Amy were sitting in an outdoor café enjoying the spring weather. "Aim?" Jeff said, looking into Amy's eyes. "Yeah?" She said casually, looking away. She hated when he said her name like that. It meant he was about to start grilling her for information and even thought lying was her specialty, the novelty had worn off. "About earlier, when I came to your dressing room. I couldn't help notice your bathroom door locked and your clothes rumpled. What was going on?" He asked. "Oh, baby, is your brother planting ideas in your head again?" She sighed. "I fell asleep on the couch which is why my clothes were rumpled and the bathroom door is a bitch and gets jammed sometimes. It wasn't locked." Jeff sighed and hung his head. "I'm sorry. I knew there was a good reason." Amy cupped his chin in her hands. "Jeff." She said, looking straight into his eyes. "Your brother is ruining this relationship. He makes you so suspicious. You know I love you and I trust you. I want you to feel the same about me." Jeff smiled, "I do love you, baby, and I completely trust you. I just needed to make sure." "Okay, okay." Amy said, "I just don't get what your brother hates about me. I always try to be sweet around him. Maybe he's just afraid I will take you away from him?" "No," Jeff said, "I'm sure that's not it. He's my brother, nothing could take me away from him." Jeff had no doubt in his mind that jealously was not provoking Matt. "Okay, baby, then what?" Amy wanted to know. "I dunno, Aim, I just don't know." He said. "Well, don't worry about it, he'll come around eventually I'm sure." She said smiling and taking his hand into hers, gently rubbing it. "Yeah, but this match coming up, we need to be at our best. We're going to become number contenders, you know." He said, beaming. "I know." Amy said, inwardly thinking how little she could care. "Well, baby," Jeff said, "shall we head back to the hotel? I want to catch up with my writings and get some sleep before tomorrow. Is that okay?" he asked. "Perfect." Amy responded and as they gathered their things to go catch a cab back to the hotel.
"Chug, chug, chug!" Jason cried as Adam swigged down a large foaming mug of bar. "Yeah!!!!!" Matt shouted, as Adam finished the beer. Matt jumped off the stool he'd been sitting at and slapped Adam on the back. "Good job, my boy!" He giggled, clearly drunk. The three men had started sipping beers and turned it into a chugging contest. Matt rarely drunk, but he felt like letting loose after everything that had been going on between his brother and him. Jason threw his head back with laughter when Adam began sticking straws up his nose. Other people in the bar noticed the three drunken men and their crude behavior and found it obnoxious. The bartender, noticing his other customers' disapproval went over to the men and told them they'd have to settle down or leave. After all, it was a Wednesday afternoon, not a Saturday night. Matt slapped his hand onto the glossy surface of the bar and shouted, "All right, man! We're going to leave anyway. This place sucks!" Adam and Jason burst into laughter and the obviously unfunny situation to everyone, but them. They shuffled out of the bar, and headed back to the hotel. They all decided to go to Matt's room, not expecting Jeff to be there. "Whadda want to do when we get there, guys?" Matt slurred. "Play cards?" Adam suggested, not really caring. "Who the fuck plays cards anymore?!" Jason shouted, for no real reason at all. "I wanna play Go Fish!" Matt yelled, giggling, while he turned his key into the door of his hotel room. The three men stumbled into the doorway and Jeff jumped off the bed. "Shit! You scared me." Jeff said as his notebook fluttered to the floor. Jeff loved writing poems and keeping track of all the cities Matt and he visited. He was in the middle of a poem when his brother and friends had came in. "Jeffy!" Matt shouted, running to his brother and grabbing him into a bear hug. "What the -?" Jeff started to inquire when he smelled the alcohol on his brother's breathe. "Have you been drinking?" Jeff asked, accusingly. "No." Matt answered, smiling. "Fuck, Matt, you have been! What the hell! You're always bitching at me when I come back wasted, then you go out and come back fucking reeking like you've been drinking from a goddamn keg. Adam, Jay, where's your sense?" Jeff said, peering at the two men still standing in the doorway. "We were thirsty." Adam shrugged. "Goddamn!" Jeff shouted. "All of you are going to have a fucking hang over like a bitch tomorrow and we've got shit to do! Signings starting at 9 and fucking Smackdown. Matt, where's your sense? You're the older brother!" Matt started laughing. "Is this what I sound like?" He wanted to know. Usually Matt was the one ragging on Jeff, but now the tables had turned. Jeff sighed. "Oh, Matty." He said, calming down a bit. Adam and Jay, even through their drunkenness noticed the need to leave the two brothers alone. "See ya tomorrow," Adam said, as those two headed back to their room. Matt plopped down onto his bed. "Thanks for chasing off the guys, moron," Matt said, "We were going to play Go Fish." "Matt, goddamn, just goddamn. First this morning, now now. What's going on?" Jeff wanted to know. Matt started fumbling for the remote to the TV, his head starting to ache. "Get me some aspirin, will you, bro?" Matt asked, ignoring Jeff's question. Jeff stared at him for a moment and realized he wouldn't be getting much of out of his brother this evening. He walked into the bathroom and grabbed the bottle of Tylenol. He poured a glass of water and took two of the capsules out of the bottle. When he walked back into the room, Matt was already fast asleep, drool starting to form on the side of his mouth. Jeff sighed, putting the glass of water and capsules next to the bed for when he woke up, his head surely to be pounding. It was early, only about Six o'clock. Maybe he could catch Amy for dinner, he thought, as he grabbed his jacket on his way out the hotel room door.
Amy was sitting in her room, munching on some cheese doodles when there was a knock at the door. "Who the hell?" She wondered. Tonight was supposed to be a free night for all wrestlers and she really wanted to lavish in it. She opened the door to find Jeff, looking like a lost puppy. Great, she thought. She knew he was her boyfriend, but lately, she'd been getting tired of him. He always wanted to be around her, she felt she could never get any peace. "What's up, baby?" She asked. He walked into her room and plopped himself onto the bed causing her bag of cheetos to fall off. "Matt, Adam and Jay are drunk off their minds." Jeff told her. "They came to the room, and I just flipped. Matt's the responsible one, what the fuck was he doing?" Amy sighed. "He's a grown man, just like you, baby." Amy said, not seeing what the big deal is about Matt getting drunk with his buddies. "Yeah, but, you see, Matt's never been like that. He only drinks himself stupid when he's feeling really down. This is probably only the fourth time he's ever gotten that drunk in his life." Jeff said. So, he's a dweeb, Amy thought, but she said, "Well, maybe he felt like letting go tonight." "I think it's because of me and you that he's feeling bad." He said. She looked into his sad eyes, feeling a tug at her heart. "Jeff, I know you love your brother, and I know it kills you that he can't be happy for you and me, but I don't know what to tell you to do. You've talked to him, you tried to convince him, but face it," she said, cupping his face in her hands, "he just doesn't like me. You can accept it and live with it or continue to let it bug you like this." Jeff sighed. "You're right," he said, smiling a bit. He linked his arms behind Amy's head and pulled her in for a kiss. They fell back onto the bed, and Amy suddenly forgot about wanting to be alone that night.
