Skittles Under The Rug

PART 3

"Where is he?" Matt asked, impatiently. Jen was sitting on his lap at the autograph table. "Don't worry, I'm sure he'll be here soon, although I'm not quite sure this is the way I want to meet him," she said. Matt smiled, "don't worry, after the session, we'll all go to lunch. Sound good?" "Great!" Jen said, excitedly. "But, goddamn, where IS he?" Matt asked, going back to being impatient. Fans were scheduled to enter the arena at 9AM and it was 8:55 now. Matt had met Jen in front of her door at 8:30 just like he'd said. Jen loved a punctual man, as they had had enough time to grab a cup of coffee before heading to the arena. Jay and Adam walked in the doors, and Adam gave Jay a high five. "Five minutes early, all right!" Matt laughed. Those two were also coming in at the last minute, but at least they were on time, which was more then he could say for his brother at the moment. "Hey, Matt, who's the chick?" Adam asked, as the two blondes took their seats beside Matt. "And where's that brother of yours?" Jay wondered. "Well," Matt started, "this is Jen. I met her last night just before I threw up all that beer we chugged." "Yeah, man, Jay was upchucking ALL night," Adam said, making a face. "Yeah, but at least I wasn't moaning 'God, please, kill Jack Daniels, please!'" They all started laughing, and Adam said, "well, anyway, it's nice to meet you, Jen. Matt really needs a woman to keep him in line." Matt shot him an evil eye, and Jay asked, "so, where's Jeffy? He's got less then a minute!" Just as those words escaped Jay's lips, Vince got on a microphone. "All right, wrestlers and WWF employees. The fans are coming in now. This session will last until noon and anyone not here now will face my wrath then." He winked, then smiled, and handed the microphone to an official as the first set of fans started in. Jen jumped up from Matt's lap, and gave him a quick peck on the cheek. "Better get to work! See you at noon," she said, as she ran off to get her camera ready. Matt watched after her, a dazed expression coming across his face. Jay smacked him and said, "well, well. Finally found someone, Matty? We haven't seen that expression for ages!" Matt smiled. "Yeah. She's great. I only met her last night, but we talked for hours. I can't wait for a real date." "She seems nice, cute, too." Adam said. "I know," Matt sighed, happily. Suddenly, Jeff and Amy came running through the doors. "Fuck!" Jeff yelled, noticing the fans. "We're late, aren't we?" he asked his brother. "Yes, dipshit. You need to see Vince at noon, so he can bitch at you. You're lucky we're having a big match next PPV or your ass could be gone for a week or so. This isn't the first time you've screwed up," Matt answered. "Save it, Matt, please." Jeff said, taking his place next to Matt and signing an autograph. Amy had run off to her table without even giving Jeff a kiss goodbye. "So, why are you late, lover boy?" Adam teased. "We overslept. Would you guys get off my case?" Jeff replied. "So touchy!" Jay said, but they stopped with the questions. None of the men talked to each other for the next hour, they had autographs to sign, pictures to pose for. Matt kept looking for Jen, but it turned out they'd placed her on the other side of the arena. Around 10:30, the wrestlers were given a break while the fans were to attend a half hour WWF special in the main arena. All the photographers were sent there, so Matt decided just to stay with his brother and buddies. Jeff peered at Matt, noticing him being unusually quiet. "Did you sleep okay?" Jeff asked. "Yeah, fine." Matt answered, for some reason not wanting to tell his brother about Jen. Adam and Jay noticed the uneasiness, and Jay piped up, "Anyone want a soda? It's on us." "Yeah, I'll take a Cherry Coke," Matt said. "Make that a double," Jeff said. The two blondes nodded and jumped up to go to the Coke machine. Matt turned and faced Jeff, "Jeff, look." He began, "I know I've acted like a shit about you and Amy, but I've decided to stop being a stupid bitch and start being your brother. Even if I don't like her, I'll try and be nice because it makes you happy. I promise my attitude has completely changed. Just as long as you don't plan on making her my sister-in-law anytime soon," he said, eyes twinkling at the last sentence. Jeff smiled broadly, "hey, thanks, bro. That makes me feel great! Did I ever tell you you're the best big brother ever?" Matt laughed, "did I ever tell you you're the biggest pain in the ass of a baby brother ever?" Jeff pretended to pout, "I'm not THAT big of a pain." The brothers started laughing as Adam and Jay rejoined them sodas in hand. "I'm guessing everything's good?" Adam asked, tossing a soda at each Hardy. "Yup!" Jeff replied, flipping back the lid of his Cherry Coke. "Hey, Jeff, I've got someone I want you to meet," Matt said. "What do you say we do lunch today after the session?" Jeff looked at Matt in shock, "don't tell me my brother has finally found a lady friend! Hallelujah! There is a God!" Matt hit him, "shut up, man. Seriously, though, want to come?" "Definitely!" Jeff said, "how about we double? Amy can come too." Matt frowned, but remembered his new resolve to be happy for his brother, "sure," Matt said, "sounds like a plan." Jeff smiled at him, as the fans began flooding back in for more autographs.

"Finally," Matt sighed, as he signed the last autograph for a young Asian man. It was noon and the session had ended. Matt loved being around his fans and it made him feel terrific that people cared so much for him as a wrestler, but sometimes, his hand hurt! Matt chuckled, and Jeff looked at him. "What's so funny, bro?" Matt looked up, "nothing, man. Ready for lunch?" He asked, noticing Amy approaching. "Yup!" He answered, jumping up to greet Amy. "Babe, how does lunch with my brother and his new girlfriend sound?" Amy looked surprised. "Girlfriend?" She asked, arching an eyebrow. "Well, she's not technically my girlfriend. I just met her. I want Jeff to meet her today over lunch." Matt replied, purposefully forgetting to mention Amy's invitation along. "Well, I'm in." Amy thought, feeling strangely jealous upon hearing the news of a girl in Matt's life. She shook it off, wondering where it had come from, when a cute redheaded popped up beside Matt. "Hey, Matty," she said, pecking him on the cheek. Jeff smiled and said, "Matt, she's perfect for you, I can tell already." The girl smiled, "hi, I'm guessing you're Jeff. I'm Jen." She said, extending a hand. Jeff looked taken aback, "Jen, Jen," he tsked, "I always love my brother's girlfriends, and that means they're too good for handshakes!" He said, leaning over to give her a friendly hug. "Nice to meet you." He said. Jen laughed, "well, you're certainly a charmer!" She said. Amy felt irritated at Jeff's friendliness and Matt's happiness that his brother and new girlfriend had hit it off so well. "Aren't you the help around her?" Amy asked, interrupting the nice mood. Jen looked shocked, "well, actually, I'm a photographer. That doesn't classify me as help," she answered. Matt shot Jeff a look that said, "look at the way she can take care of herself." Jeff arched an eyebrow, and put an arm around Amy's waist. "Settle down, girls," he said, half-playing, "we got a lunch to get, too!" Jeff was forever hungry and lunch was his favorite meal of the day. "Wait a second, bro," Matt said, stopping his brother, "you need to see Vince since you were so tardy!" Jeff laughed weakly, "oh, heh, I forgot," he said sheepishly. "C'mon, Amy," he said, grabbing her arm, "let's hurry, if we're lucky, we'll make it out before dinner!" He said as he pulled her towards Vince's office. "You know where to meet us!" Matt shouted after him. Jeff waved, and disappeared into Vince's office. Matt laughed, "what a card," he said. Jennifer smiled and said "I like him." Matt looked at her, "not too much, I hope," he said, wrapping his arms around her waist. "Not as much as another Hardy," she said, allowing her lips to reach Matt's for a soft, passionate kiss.

"Should we order?" Jen asked. It was been twenty minutes since they'd arrived at the pizza joint around the corner from the arena. "No," Matt answered, "they'll be here any minute, it usually only takes five minutes. Jeff's been in trouble before that's why I know. God, that boy is so fucking slow sometimes, I could smack him!" Jen laughed, covering her hand with Matt's. "Don't worry," she said, "relax! We don't got much to do today until 5, so your brother still has, oh, about four and a half hours." Matt laughed, "true," he said. "You know who I don't like, though?" Jen said, the mood suddenly shifting. Matt looked at her and they both said, "Amy." "Oh, aren't you the help?" Jen said, mocking what Amy had said to her earlier. "Bitch. I'm not a maid." Matt laughed at Jen's hatred towards Amy. "Jen, you know exactly how I feel! Doesn't it break you up seeing those two together? Jeff can do so much better!" "I know!" Jen said. "We need to do something, get rid of her somehow." Matt looked at her, "Jen…" he said, warningly, "I just promised my brother I'd be supportive of him and Amy, we can't go screwing it up even though we hate her." Jen sighed. "You're right, I just wish he'd get rid of her!" "Where have you been the last six months!" Matt wondered aloud. "You're saying everything I've been saying. Too bad I'm being supportive now or we could of came up with devious plans," he said winking at her. Jen opened her mouth to reply, but just then Amy and Jeff came in, sliding into the seat across from her and Matt. "Hey, bro! Jen!" Jeff said, talking loudly. "Damn, am I glad to be out of there! Vince sure knows how to bitch! So, my bad, we're late, what's the biggie? Where's the pizza?" Jeff asked, noticing only two glasses of soda on the table. "We've been waiting," Jen informed him. "Well, we're here, wait no more! Waiter!!!" Jeff screamed. Jen laughed, and leaned over to Matt and asked, "is he always like this?" Matt laughed in response, which Jen took as a yes. The waiter came over and took the group's order that consisted of two pies and three pitchers of soda. For someone as skinny as Jeff, he could sure down food. Amy had been unusually quiet, but no one had seemed to notice. Jen and the brothers were caught up in a conversation on how much they liked life on the road. Suddenly, Amy stood up, "I'm going to the bathroom, want to join me, Jen?" She asked, faking friendliness. Jen took this opportunity to try to get to know Amy, so she agreed. The two women got up and Matt wondered aloud, "why do chicks always needs to go to the bathroom in groups?" "Beats me, bro," Jeff said, spotting the waiter with their order. "Over here!!" He shouted, excitedly.

In the bathroom, Amy was taking a compact out of her purse. She began powdering her nose, and looked at Jen as she applied some of her light pink lip-gloss. "So, Jen," Amy said, saying Jen's name like it was a piece of garbage, "how close are you and Matt?" "Well, Aim," Jen said, using the same tone Amy had, "we just met, and considering that, I'd say we aren't extremely close yet, but there's plenty of time for that, you know?" She said, trying to level with Amy. "Oh, sure," Amy said, "but, you do know how Matt is, right?" "What do you mean?" Jen asked, eyeing her suspiciously. "You know," Amy said, "with women." Jen looked at her blankly. "Oh, c'mon! Wake up, girl! Hasn't had a girlfriend in a year? What kind of man goes a year without sex?" Jen still didn't understand. Amy leaned over to her, looking her squarely in the eye, "Jen, you know who his last girlfriend was, right?" "Who?" Jen wondered. Amy leaned over to her and looked her squarely in the eye. Jen's heart began to pound faster; Amy was giving her the creeps. Who was Matt's last girlfriend, she wondered? Amy then whispered, "me."

Back at the table, Jeff asked his brother through a mouthful of pizza, "what's taking them so long?" Matt threw a napkin at Jeff, "wipe your mouth, you have cheese all over you. And I don't know, they're girls." Just then Jen and Amy came walking back to the table, Jen considerably whiter then she'd been before she left. "I-I-I have to go," she stammered. "What?" Matt asked, confused. Jen ignored him, and grabbed her purse. "Let me walk you out," Matt said, reaching for her hand. Jen abruptly pulled back. "No, don't. I have to go." She said coldly. She walked out the doors and Matt watched her go, not being able to shake the feeling of the coldness that had just passed between them. He suddenly looked at Amy, "you fucking bitch! What did you say to her?" "Whoa, Matt, relax!" Jeff said, putting down his pizza, "I don't think Amy had anything to do with that." "Goddamn, Jeff, still ignorant, aren't you?" Matt asked, his eyes gleaming with hurt and anger. "What?" Jeff asked. "You know Amy said something! Jen would have never left like that if it wasn't for this stupid bitch right here!" Matt clenched his fists together, feeling the blood flowing through his veins. "Matt, fucking calm down, all right. Amy, baby, what happened?" Jeff asked, looking at Amy. "I don't know, she just went psycho." Amy replied simply. "LIAR!" Matt shouted, bouncing in his seat from the anger. "Amy, you goddamn bitch! Tell me what you said to her! Tell me now!" He said, grabbing a chunkful of her hair. Amy screeched and Jeff hit Matt as hard as he could. "Back off!" Jeff shouted to his brother. "Your fucking girlfriend is ruining my life!" Matt shouted. "She steals my brother's clear thinking abilities and chases away my girlfriend. I can't stand this!" Matt was irate. Jeff put his hands on his brother's shoulders and Matt violently shrugged them off. Matt turned around and stormed out of the pizza place, with Jeff staring after him, shocked while Amy smirked.
