Pro Wrestling is divided into three categories: Lucha Libre, Puroresu, and Sports-Entertainment. Each them wrestling a different stlye. Sports- Entertainment focuses on storylines, Puroresu on storylines and wrestling, and Lucha Libre on wrestling and a little comedy.
Sports Entertainment
WWF
The WWF is probably the biggest and most popular league in the world. They focus on daytime tv like storylines. They also focus on T&A. The WWF does focus on wrestling at PPVs, but the free tv wrestling takes second fiddle to storylines. So the wrestling is not as good as in other places, but it usually doesn't matter because the storylines actually seem to make the wrestling better than it should be. The WWF is owned by Vince McMahon. The WWF's top stars are "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, Chris Benoit (currently injured), Triple H (also injured), The Rock, and the Undertaker. The WWF has a huge roster with lots of depth making even better.
Puroresu
NPJW
One of the biggest leagues in Japan. Has declined a bit over the years, but is still good though. The league focuses on wrestling. Unlike in the WWF submissions mean a lot here. NPJW has a great junior division with the likes of Jushin Lyger, Koji Kanemoto, El Samurai, and Minoru Tanaka. NPJW does have storylines also. One of the big ones was the WCW/NPJW NWO angle. Currently the NPJW is in battle with All Japan.
APJW
The other big league in Japan. Also has declined a bit over the years. The league hit a big stag when Misawa left AJPW in 2000 with many of their stars. The league is known for neck dropping. APJW focuses only on wrestling. The league has been home to some of the greatest matches in history (Misawa vs. Kawada 94 and Misawa vs. Kobashi 97). Currently the APJW is in battle with New Japan.
NOAH
Started in 2000 when Misawa left AJPW with many of it stars and formed this league. The league is loaded with talent old and new. Unlike the APJW the crusierweight division is bigger and more focused on. NOAH is very elaborate when it comes to wrestlers, intros, and themes. The league like All Japan focuses on wrestling and has lots of neck dropping moves. Submissions are also very important. Top stars are Kenta Kobashi (injured) , Jun Akiyama , Misawa, and Takao Omori.
FMW
Often called the garbage wrestling league. This league has dropped big over the years. Recently they lost one of there big stars Masato Tanaka. The league has high fly wrestling and is very submission oriented. They are also known for their crazy angles and hardcore matches. They also contain serious women wrestling matches. The only sports entertainment league in Japan. Their top star is H aka Hayabusa.
Toryumon
The premiere lightheavyweight league of Japan. The stlye is mixed between Lucha Libre and Puroresu wrestling. Owned by Ultimo Dragon. It top stars are CIMA, Magnum Tokyo, and Dragon Kid. The league has dropped a little simply because the same people wrestle each other all the time.
Michinoku Pro
Used to be the best place for crusierweight action. Has dropped a lot over the years. The stlye is mixed between Lucha Libre and Puroresu wrestling like Toryumon. Owned by Great Sasuke. The league's greatest year was 96' when Kaientai DX was its strongest. The star that shines the greatest is this league is Tiger Mask IV.
