*I received this show from Jeff Lynch as part of my 8-hour joshi comp. It cost me $25.

*Sweet GAEA intro starts off the show!

*Highlights from 1/16/00 are shown featuring various wrestlers! They are some pretty good highlights. The show is referred to as DEAD or ALIVE!

*Some guys introduce the show.

Sakura Hirota vs. Saika Takeuchi
Hirota comes out in a Valentine's flower?! Geez. Her teeth are looking pretty bad. Hirota says some stuff. Hirota goes to give Takeuchi chocolate (?), but Takeuchi knocks it out of her hand and stomps on it. I guess that is heel heat. Takeuchi attacks Hirota with a huge slap and a dropkick. Clip! Hirota picks Takeuchi up for a body slam, but can't seem to be able to slam her! She eventually does though. Takeuchi manages to get up and fall back down again. Hirota keeps going for a Tequila Sunrise (Belly to Back Half Nelson and Chicken Wing Suplex), but Takeuchi blocks and gets two dropkicks. Blah! Hirota comes back with a hip attack and then a off the top rope hip attack for the 1...2...3 Ah! The match was pretty bland and weak. I wasn't digging the comedy at all and the wrestling was too basic. Oh well. 1/4*

Mayumi Ozaki vs. Toshiyo Yamada
Ozaki already has a red stick in her hand before the match even starts! Yamada kicks the stick and takes down Ozaki. Yamada locks on a cross armbreaker with the stick. Odd! Ozaki ducks a stick swing and starts choking Yamada with the stick. Ozaki locks up Yamada in the rope and starts posing (heh!). They block each others blows, but Yamada thrust kicks Ozaki down. Yamada starts to work the arm. She backdrop suplexes Ozaki and goes for the cross armbreaker, but Ozaki gets rope. They tumble outside. Ozaki takes Yamada into the crowd. ECW! ECW! ECW! Ozaki throws chairs (!) at Yamada. Yamada comes back throwing Ozaki into the guardrail and into the turnpost a few times. Yamada takes her turn beating on Ozaki in the aisle way. This must be JOSHI VIOLENCE! Yamada takes Ozaki up in the crowd then levels her with a lariat. Ozaki is bleeding! Yamada lariats Ozaki down again and takes her back ringside. Back in the ring Ozaki blocks Yamada's Diving Enziguri Kick with Twist then thunderfire powerbombs her for a two. Ozaki follows with a thunderfire powerbomb turnbuckle smash of sorts! Ozaki gets a third thunderfire powerbomb for a 1.KICKOUT! GAH! Out of nowhere Yamada locks on a cross armbreaker!

Ozaki gets out and blocks a reverse spinkick. Yamada lays down playing possum and kicks Ozaki in the head when she comes over! Yamada follows with her Diving Enziguri Kick with Twist. Ozaki comes right back with a mega BACKFIST for a near fall. Ozaki calls for another. Ozaki misses a spinning backfist, but nails a slap to the face. Ozaki follows up with the TEQUILA SUNRISE for a 1...2..2.99999. Yamada blocks another and kicks Ozaki in the head, but Ozaki comes right back with a huge slap for a 2 1/2 count. Out of nowhere once again Yamada reverse spinkicks Ozaki in the face for a 2 3/4 count. Yamada gets another kick. Ozaki blocks her Reverse Gory Special Bomb (Reverse Gory Special Suplex), but falls victim to an armbar. Yamada looks a bit CRAZED! Yamada converts into the cross armbreaker and stops Ozaki from getting rope! Ozaki gets rope eventually though. Ozaki gets a fluke spinning backfist, but Yamada axe kicks her right after. Yamada follows with her GORY SPECIAL BOMB for a 2 9/10 count. NEAR FALLS. Ozaki levels Yamada with a BACKFIST for a near fall. Ozaki nails another for a 1 count! Ozaki gets TWO BACKFISTS for a 1.kickout! Yamada is crazy! Yamada blocks a spinning backfist, but Ozaki comes right back with a FLURY of BACKFISTS for the 1...2...3 Awesome! Good build! The near falls meant a lot. The match could have been longer and Ozaki's selling seemed to be non-existent. ***3/4

Chigusa Nagayo/ Toshie Uematsu vs. Akira Hokuto/ RIE
Hokuto & Nagayo shake hands, but Uematsu slaps RIE (who has a taped shoulder). Nagayo catches a cane meant for Aska, but RIE canes Nagayo with another cane anyway. Three people now have canes! RIE gets an armbar on Nagayo, but Uematsu flying splashes RIE to break it up. Hokuto backdrops Uematsu on the apron, knocks her outside, and follows with an awesome Top Rope SOMERSAULT PLANCHA! RIE nails a Destiny Hammer (Off the Top Rope Knee Smash) on Nagayo for a two. Nagayo blocks a double team attack and double bulldogs Hokuto & RIE for a two. Hokuto & RIE block a double lariat and lock on a double fujiwara armbar! Hokuto lets go and RIE keeps the hold on, while Hokuto pounds on Nagayo's other hand! Hokuto does a flying cane shot to the shoulder. Hokuto works the arm until Nagayo comes back with a backdrop suplex. Uematsu in. Uematsu stomps on Hokuto, but she goes after Nagayo. HEH! Uematsu finally gets her away from Nagayo and Nagayo spinkicks Hokuto. Nagayo thunderfire powerbombs RIE. Nagayo knocks Hokuto off the apron to the outside and follows with an odd top rope somersault plancha! In the ring RIE blocks a Uematsu flying splash with knees then gets an armbar! Uematsu escapes and gets a near fall. Nagayo works Hokuto outside. Uematsu blocks a Thunderfire Powerbomb with an odd arm submission (!) and RIE taps! Didn't see that coming. A solid match. They did everything pretty good, but it was too short and lacked a lot of action. Nagayo and Uematsu celebrate and give each other high fives! Hokuto says some things, but Nagayo keeps celebrating. They even pose for pictures! GEEZ! ***

Some of the brawling seemed useless as well. The build was very good. Aja & KAORU embrace then Ozaki, Yamada, and Aja talk. They get into a small fight with Aja getting the last word! GREAT STUFF ****

Recommendation: Awesome Show!! 5 out of 6 matches are *** or above. The tape also gives you variety of styles. This is one of my first joshi shows and frankly I'm impressed. The Aska & Kato vs. Sato & Nagashima match was just great! I suggest getting this tape if you like wrestling and you have an open mind. RECOMMENDED
