ABOUT THE NOMINEES:
Wrestler of the Year
The Undertaker: The Undertaker was probably the most unstoppable force in the TWF this year. He won the TWF title twice and won it for the second time after going through 32 other men to win the TWF title tournament at TWF Whiplash in May. He beat Stone Cold, The Rock, Big Show and Travis Wakeman to name a few and if injuries didn't plague him, he might be unbeatable!
Travis Wakeman: One of the big success stories of the year. As a rookie, claimed his first taste of gold after defeating Rikishi for the IC belt at Royal Rumble in January. He held that title twice as well as the TWF title twice. He won the first ever Eruption match at TWF Eruption in March and won the first ever Lethal Lottery in Februrary. He might have been even better without his women problems and his differences with his old group, Wakeman Enterprises.
Kane: Even though he didn't hold a single title this year, Kane posted a terrific win-loss record and was one of the most destructive forces in the TWF. He had a recent fallout with his brother The Undertaker and if he can step out of his shadow, there's no telling what this monster is capable of. Expect a huge year for Kane!
Ken Shamrock: Shamrock was very tough to beat which is evidenced by his win-loss record. He held the TWF European title and IC title. Amid many rumors he was leaving, Shamrock never planned to leave the TWF and is ready to strive for that next level.
Weapon R: Though also a rookie, this man was undefeated for the first 3 months of his career. He was crowned the first ever TWF Lightheavyweight champion after winning an 8 man tournament at the Survivor Series and is now a two time lightheavyweight champion. He is also currently the MFW Japan Lightheavyweight champ after he defeated their best lightweight at a show in Milwaukee, Wisconsin last April. He has indicated he wants to compete outside the division and he could be very successful.
Match of the Year
Travis Wakeman vs. Vader: This match was just witnessed at Summerslam. It was the "Last Man Standing" match for the TWF title and it was decided by Shane McMahon's "Wheel of Death". Each man gave it his all. It looked like both men had been through hell. But in the end, Vader hit Wakeman with the Vader bomd for the 5th time to keep him down and win the TWF title.
The Undertaker vs. The Rock: This match was the main event at Wrestlemainia 2000. It was fought in a steel cage under "First Blood" rules. The two men literally killed each other trying to draw blood. The Undertaker retained the TWF title when he tombstoned Rock on a steel chair, splitting him wide open.
Dean Malenko vs. D'Lo Brown: This match was for the fans that love pure wrestling. It was a first round match in the 32 man TWF title tournament held back in May. The two men had the crowd on their feet as it was one of the best pure wrestling matches anyone had ever seen. In the end, it was the man of 1,000 holds who defeated D'Lo on a beautiful counter to advance in the tournament.
Shane McMahon vs. Vince McMahon: One of the most memorable matches of the year was this one as the father and son duo squared off at Wrestlemainia 2000 in an "I Quit" match. Vince was so tired of his son's actions, he decided to put the rights to the company on the line. In a long brutal match, the crowd was impressed by the effort of both men but it was the younger Shane who defeated his dad to earn the rights to his company.{He would later ask Vince to come back anfd help him}
Eruption Match: One of the most unique matches of all time took place at TWF Eruption, known as the Eruption match. It was a 12 man elimination match for the TWF title. The reasoning for the match came after Vince McMahon got a fluke victory over Travis Wakeman to become TWF champ. Vince then forfeited the title saying he wasn't a TWF superstar. He put it up for grabs in the Eruption match which was eventually won by Travis Wakeman.
Rokkie of the Year
Weapon R: Accomplishments listed above
Travis Wakeman: Accomplishments listed above
Crash: Crash was introduced as the cousin of Hardcore Holly. Crash's greatest accomplishment came when he defeated Hardcore Holly at Wrestlemainia 2000. He is a 4 time TWF Hardcore champion.
Masato Tanaka: Tanaka was discovered in Japan by TWF scout Bruce Pritchard. But once he was added to the TWF roster, he had immediate success including being a 3 time TWF Lightheavyweight champion and being the first man to defeat Weapon R at Wrestlemainia 2000.
Kurt Angle: Even though an injury has kept him out of action, Angle will be a major player in the TWF. He was a member of Wakeman Enterprises and has gotten some big victories. He is scheduled back in late October or early November.
Tag Team of the Year
New Age Outlaws: Widely considered the greatest team ever, the Outlaws held the tag team titles 3 times in the past year!
Acolytes:Probably the most destructive team of all time, The Acolytes back down from no one and they held the tag titles twice this year.
Edge and Christian: This brother duo is rising to the top of the tag team division and they can compete with anyone.
The Headbangers: Even though they're no longer in the TWF, the Headbangers had the longest tag team title reign this year of a little over 3 months.
Dudley Boyz: The Dudleyz have been out of action for several months but a comeback is being planned. They had a couple tag team title oppurtunities in the past year but couldn't quite win the gold.
Lightheavyweight of the Year
Weapon R: {Most of accomplishments listed above} Dominated lightheavyweight division. 2 Time lightheavyweight champion and possibly the best lightheavyweight in the world!
Tanaka: Accomplishments listed above.
Essa Rios: Competed a lot outside the division, but when he competed in it, he was as good as anyone. Held lightheavyweight title for only about 1 week.
Funaki: Is considered one of the best lightheavyweight's around. Former lightheavyweight champ.
Kid Gundam: Although fairly new to the TWF, the sky is the limit for this man. He could be the man to dethrone Weapon R in the division.
Women's Wrestler of the Year
Jessica Lopez: The current TWF Women's champ has the longest title reign in TWF history for any of the titles. She won the title from Jacquelyn almost 10 months ago and has defeated all comers since. Many TWF fans wonder if anyone can win that title from her. Her career started off as the personal secretary for Travis Wakeman in Wakeman Enterprises but after she broke away from them and got into the ring, she was an immediate success.
Jacquelyn: She was the first ever TWF Women's champion and she successfully defended the title several times by beating Ivory, Tori and Debra.
Chyna: Although she competes strictly with the male wrestlers, Chyna has proven she can hold her own in any division and be a major force one day in the TWF.
Surprise Wrestler of the Year
Test: Test has gone through an emotional year. His marriage to Stephanie McMahon was destroyed by Triple H but he got his revenge with two pay-per-view wins over "The Game". Test has been a top contender virtually all year and has the potential to one day be the TWF champ!
Hardcore Holly: Holly is one of the toughest individuals the TWF has to offer but he has beaten men twice his size. He's been as hot as anyone in the past couple months and one can only wonder just how good Holly could be.
Crash: Crash was introduced to TWF fans as Hardcore Holly's cousin and found immediate success with his cousin as they became TWF Tag Team champs at the Royal Rumble in January. But after he and Hardcore couldn't see eye to eye, Crash went the singles route and became a 4 time TWF Hardcore champion.
D.W. Jones: Although he and Albert now make up Excessive Force, Jones was a 2 time Hardcore champion and many believe he'll be a major star soon.Moment of the Year
Foley wins title in last match: Mick Foley went out in style. After informing everyone it was his last match, Foley challenged The Undertaker to a no DQ match on national television for RAW IS WAR. The Undertaker dominated but Foley's will was to strong as he upset The Undertaker to win the title. This was followed by one of the most emotional post match celebrations of all time.
Commissioner Foley: After a brief retirement, Mick Foley was announced as Linda McMahon's choice for TWF Commissioner on RAW IS WAR.
HBK Returns: Wrestlemainia 2000 saw the return of the "main event" Shawn Michaels as Michaels returned to face Triple H for the rights to the D-Generation X name. HBK won the battle between the two co-founders.
Hogan defeats Kane: After Kane made an open challenge to anybody in the world to face him, Hulk Hogan came back for one night only at Wrestlemainia 2000 to face him. The crowd was stunned. Hogan pulled the upset when he rolled up Kane in a small package to win it. After the match, Hogan's "Real American" music played for 10 minutes as Hogan did his trademark in ring routine in front of the pumped up crowd, proving Hulkamainia truly will never die!
