Okerlund: "Well Goldust, it has been a great night from the TWF Livewire Inn, any surprises"? Goldust: "Well, I wasn't nominated for anything, but wait till next year. Next year, you will never forget the name of.....oooooh.... Goldust". Okerlund: "Congratulations are in order for High Octane who took home two awards and Akasha who transcended women's wrestling in the TWF in 2002 and you can't forget Jordan Rockwell, what a year he had! Folks, the hot group Linkin Park is on the stage ready to perform their smash hit "In the End" so we'll send it to them! Have a good night and we hope to see you all here next year, just outside Madison Square Garden at the TWF Livewire Inn"! LINKIN PARK PERFORMS "IN THE END" AS THE SHOW GOES OFF THE AIR.
NOMINEES Sam Wilde: After a brief absence from the TWF, the religious Sam Wilde returned to the TWF, saying he was told by the Lord to do so and he soon became one of the brightest stars on RAW. High Octane: High Octane had a rough start to his career but he was able to bounce back and get some big wins over top superstars and he even advanced to the semi-finals of the King of the Ring tournament. His shining moment in 2002 came when he won the Lightheavweight title from Justin Sane in April. Mr. Perfect: A legendary competitor, Mr. Perfect came back as a guest entrant in the Royal Rumble and later became Intercontinental champion. He also spent a good deal of the year helping mold newcomer Christopher Nowinski. Matt Hardy: After the TWF roster split, fans were very disappointed to see The Hardy Boyz go to different shows. But I doubt Matt is too upset with his success, even having a strong reign as Lightheavyweight champion.
MATCH DESCRIPTIONS First Blood: Drew Blood vs. "Stone Cold Steve Austin- King of the Ring 2002: The fans went home happy after watching these two tacticians battle for the IC Gold. Austin ended up winning it after 3 shots with a steel haliburton. I Quit: Travis Wakeman vs. Taz of the GWF- When World's Collide: In a match with a lot of pride on the line, Wakeman finally got the victory after 42 minutes of sheer war with Taz. Jessica Lopez vs. Akasha- August 2, 2002 edition of RAW: Very few may remember this one and even though it ended in a count out win for Lopez, it was the best women's match all year and showed how far women's wrestling has come in the TWF. Triple Threat/TWF Title: "Stone Cold" Steve Austin vs. Jordan Rockwell vs. Triple H- MeltDown: This was maybe the most exciting match of the year as these 3 warriors battled for 40+ minutes. But after Austin was counted out, Rockwell caught Triple H with a fisherman suplex to win it and rise to the top of the TWF mountain.
STORYLINES Roster Split: Soon after WrestleMania, the TWF decided it was best for the long term of their product to spilt the roster into 2 divisions and two shows, RAW and PrimeTime. W.E. Takeover: Even though Wakeman is still in charge of PrimeTime as of this writing, it was something he had in the works for months and was well planned out. Purchase of mFw: Who will ever forget the night on RAW when Stephanie McMahon and the TWF drove a stake through the heart of the GWF? Civil Rights: In a shocking turn of events, Teddy Long used the power of his attorney to build an anti-discrimination suit due to his firing after the 2001 King of the Ring. He waited a long time, but he came back with a bang.
THIS IS BASICALLY AN AWARD FOR THE MOST TOUCHING MOMENT OF THE YEAR. MOMENTS Rockwell wins the title: No one will forget the night Jordan Rockwell acheived his dream at MeltDown and won the TWF Title. Bret Hart farewell: Our first international tour to Turkey also included the end of the road for one of the best ever when Bret Hart wrestled his farewell match against Shawn Michaels. Hogan in red & yellow: Hogan came back to the TWF as a member of the nWo but soon left them and went back to his original colors, the red and yellow. The fans showed those are still the colors they bleed as the TWF started to experience record numbers for attendance. Jansens wins one for Ashley: Dylan Jansens has never been the same since his girlfriend Ashley died in a freak accident but after winning the Lightheavyweight title at DoomsDay, he pointed to the sky to say that he did it for her.
CONSIDER THIS....Triple H: Has pretty much dominated RAW since the roster split and been in the TWF Title hunt all year. Key wins: Hulk Hogan, Stone Cold, The Undertaker & Jordan Rockwell. Jordan Rockwell: Rockwell became European, IC and TWF champion within a 6 month time frame, a rise never before seen in the TWF. Key Wins: Scott Steiner, Val Venis, Stone Cold, Triple H, Cell of Survival. Drew Blood: Even though he still claims he hasn't "gotten what he deserves", this man is considered by many to be the best out there today. Key Wins: Shawn Michaels, Rhyno, Edge. The Undertaker: Still going strong, the deadman had a great 2002 defending his yard. The highlight was defeating Hulk Hogan in a TWF Title match.Key Wins: Hulk Hogan, Bahamut, Nails, High Octane. THERE YA HAVE IT GUYS. VOTE FOR WHO YOU THINK SHOULD WIN! PRESENTERS WILL BE ANNOUNCED SOON ALONG WITH ANY SPECIAL GUESTS SUCH AS MUSICAL PERFORMERS!
