2008 TWF AWARDS

2008 was certainly a down year for the TWF, but much like today's economy..... we can only go up! While we didn't have as many events, matches and the usual stuff we do, awards are still necessary! On with the voting...................

Formation of the UN: William Regal, long regarded as one of the best wrestlers to ever come from overseas, put together one of the more formidable groups in recent memory. Along with Vladimir Kozlov, Harry Smith, Paul Burchill and Katie Lea, the group quickly set their sights on Shawn Michaels, Jordan Rockwell and Finlay. After securing the Tag Team championship, it is clear that this group will be very tough to deal with in 2009.

Wedge Driven into ECW: Joe Corey has long claimed that everything he has done within ECW and everything he expects of his members is "for the group". But when he asked Sylvester Terkay to relinquish the ECW World title the same way he did the 2007 King of the Ring crown..... Terkay decided not to be part of the group anymore.

Out with the Old: M.X. Ogden and Jason Oliver, two of the most brash, cocky superstars the TWF has ever seen, claim they are sick of certain veterans sticking around and wearing out their welcome. They seem to be banding together with several second generation superstars to create a new found youth movement.

Piper takes over: After Muhammad Hassan was relinquished of his duties as general manager of Rampage, Rowdy Roddy Piper came in and relieved him. But after Travis Wakeman put Hassan out of the TWF, maybe for good, Piper took the role permanently.

Lifetime Achievement Award: This year's lifetime achievement award goes to a guy I have considered giving it to in year's past. He is a wonderful member and an even better person. I would be lying if I said this guy has never gotten under my skin, cause he has and he knows it. But, he is also a very good person to talk to and when it comes to wrestling and the TWF, he always is on top of it. He still sends me ideas for his character on a regular basis and is always wanting to improve his position and standing in the company. More than that, he has become a very good friend and someone I know I can confide it. Plus, I respect the fact that he is not afraid to speak his mind. When he joined the TWF, I'll be honest, I didn't think he'd get out of SMW. But he did and he has made quite the career for himself and it is still going strong to this day. He knows he has a place in the TWF as long as he wants it and I am talking about none other than Max Ogden. Congratulations, Max.

That concludes this years awards, thank you to all those who voted and a special thanks to those who did what I asked and voted correctly.
