Hey guys its me again but this time and from now on I am going to have a partner helping me with the Superstar Corner. His name is Max Ogden.
The New Nature Boy
To be called the Nature Boy you have to be one of the greatest bar none, to stand with the kind of people like Buddy Rogers and Ric Flair you have to be able to talk the talk and walk the walk. I believe we have a new nature boy in the palm of our hands and apparently so does Ric Flair. I am talking about Axl Irvin, who has been an amazing wrestler. While his tactics have been a little under handed, The "Super Hero Killer" has been amazing in the ring. He has the same fluid movements as Ric Flair and some of the mic skills. While some think that Axl won't measure up to Slick Ric, I disagree. Look at Flair when he was just starting out, no one gave him a shot, 30 years later, he is the measuring stick for anyone trying to get into the business and a 16 time world champion. Now I don’t think Axl can win 16 world championships, but 2 to 10 isn’t out of the question and we all know he’s going to be wearing championship gold very very soon.
Memory Maker
Welcome to the first edition of The Memory Maker. Each show we will take a look at the life and career of one former TWF superstar, and then we'll be asking one current TWF Superstar to name three retired, or deceased, superstars, and three current superstars they'd love to team or make a stable with.
On this edition of The Memory Maker, we will take a look at a man, who had a career, filled with two of the biggest feuds of all time, with Shane McMahon and Jordan Rockwell, this man is Raven. Whether it was teaming with Chris Kanyon, trying to figure out who gets 100% ownership of Primetime, or taking and giving beatings in matches with Jordan Rockwell, Raven has always been a very impact wrestler. On December 20, 2000, Raven beat Steve Blackman at War in the Winter to become TWF Hardcore Champion. Raven was a dominant Hardcore Champion as he held the title for three months, losing it March 25, 2001 to Nuke at Wrestlemania 2. Then on May 26, 2001, at Evil Intentions, he took part in the historic 6 Pack Hardcore Title Match. With The Brutal Bulldog, Nails, Strife, Kane and Nuke as the men in the ring, Raven made a name for himself just being qualified for the match. He made it to the final 4, but was finally eliminated by Strife after what was an incredible Flipping Slam from the Top Rope. Then June 20, 2001, Raven participated in a 12 Man over the top Battle Royal, in which he was the 4th elimination. Finally, in a "Raven's Rules" Match, Raven defeated Mike "The Texan" Smith, but after the match, was beaten down by Smith, getting a Flying Leg Drop from the Top Rope while Raven's head was on a Steel Chair. After that, we didn't see too much of Raven and his career was thought to be over. However, on January 16, 2003, we saw the return of Raven when he aligned himself with Travis Wakeman and Kanyon, at least we thought so. After a brief stint with Wakeman, Raven went his own way with Kanyon, and teamed up with Sean O'Haire to make Raven Enterprises. Raven's stable was not his first though; he also had the Flock earlier in his career, one of the most well known stables in the world.
One of the most personal feuds of all time was the feud between Raven and Dylan Jansens, Raven Enterprises versus Four Elements. This feud became even more personal when Raven, once again, did the unthinkable. This time however, many believe he crossed the line when he stole Dylan Jansens dead fiancée’s bracelet. Jansens ended up beating Raven at Payback 2003, but Raven definitely made this feud that much better, and more interesting.
Arguably the most historic match in TWF History was at Wrestlemania 4 when Raven and Jordan Rockwell faced off in Raven's Clockwork Orange House of Fun Match. Two of the most hardcore men went at it, and Rockwell came out on top, but in the end both men were battered and bruised. This feud went down to be one of the most memorable feuds in TWF history.
In 2004, Raven was enforcer of Primetime, and made great matches such as the Raven's Rules Intercontinental Championship match between Shane Thompson and The Dark Prince. On May 7, 2004 however was when he announced officially that Vince McMahon supported him as Enforcer. On July 8, 2004, Raven announced the new #1 Contender for the Universal Title... Himself. After that however, he had a feud that will never be forgotten, a feud with Shane McMahon. Back in the days of the Raven Enterprises, Raven gave Shane a "Raven Effect", putting him out of action, and Raven as the enforcer. But at Meltdown, on August 29, 2004, Raven squared off against Shane McMahon for rights of Primetime. After that however, Raven was completely gone from the TWF. However he was able to compile an impressive 24 wins while he was here.
This week, we'll be interviewing Max Ogden to ask him two questions with four big answers.
Todd Grisham: "Max, how are you doing tonight"?
Max Ogden: "Just get on with the damn show".
Todd Grisham: "Okay then. Now, if you could tag with, or make a stable with three deceased or retired superstars, who would they be"?
Max Ogden: "The first man I would tag with is very simple, a man who brought me into the business, and a man who helped me get through everything, Road Warrior Hawk. Secondly, I wish I could've teamed with one of the greatest performers to ever step foot in a wrestling ring, Owen Hart. And finally, a man who is retired, but not dead, Raven. Raven was a mastermind and an incredible in-ring performer, and I would kill to team with him".
Todd Grisham: "Those are all very respectable choices, now the second and final question we have for you, out of all current TWF Superstars, whether on Rampage, Primetime, Asylum or in SMW, who would you team with or make a stable with"?
Max Ogden: "First, a man I respect greatly, a current Slaughterhouse Superstar, Christopher Daniels. I think he is one of the smartest in-ring competitors out there, and I hope one day he goes to Rampage so we could team up. Second, a man who is hands down the greatest athlete in all of wrestling, that man is AJ Styles. He's an incredible athlete and there is no way he won't win a World Title, that is unless he faces me. And last but not least, a man who is currently a part of a dominating Stable called the Four Horsemen, and the man who looks to have the future to become the next Jordan Rockwell, and that man is Jason Oliver. There you have it Todd, now I'm leaving"!
Ogden gets up and walks out the room.
Todd Grisham: "Well, that was Max Ogden, and this was The Memory Maker, thanks for watching".
Fantasy Match
A.J Styles Vs Rey Mysterio
Max Ogden: "AJ Styles wins because he's Simply Phenomenal and the best athlete in
the world, except me but he is someone I'd love to tag with".
Jordan Rockwell: "Well I think while Rey has the experience advantage along
with the high flying, AJ is smarter and would hang a bit in the air but out
wrestle him and set him up for the Styles Clash to put him away. For me the
Styles Clash is the difference maker, it's like the Pedigree or the Crippler
Crossface, one mistake and bam.>{?
Shane Thompson: "Rey Mysterio would win every single time. The experience he
brings to the ring is invaluable. He knows his strengths and weaknesses and
uses them to defeat his opponents. AJ has holes in his game, which he makes
up for in explosiveness. Rey would catch AJ at some point and pick up the
victory in a way only Rey Mysterio can".
Matt Cruz: "That would be a great match to watch. I would give it to Mysterio
only because he has the experience edge. It would be close, though. If they
did a best of 7 series, it would come down to the last match".
High Octane Damion West: "Rey because he's got great heart. He always seems
to come through and win the big ones".
There you have it folks, the winner is the master of the 619, 1 2 3.
TURN BACK THE CLOCK
This month on Turn Back the Clock, we're going to be looking at Code Red
2002. This event is important to numerous superstars, but today we're going
to be talking to Max Ogden.
This PPV featured some of the most memorable matches, including when Team
nWo took on Team TWF where if anyone on Team TWF got the pinfall on any nWo
member, they'd become TWF Champion. But, before we get to the main event,
we'll start out with the other matches. With two of the best Light
heavyweights of all time in the ring, we saw Matt Hardy with Stacy take on
Carney in a Grudge Match. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that Jeff Hardy was
the Special Referee. It was a great match in which Jeff ejected Stacy,
showing he'd take no sides whether his brother was in it or not. Late in the
match, Carney went for The Carney Bomb but got pushed into Jeff setting up
Matt hitting the Twist of Fate for the victory.
In the second match, it was a match that many knew would be pure brutality,
Vlad the Impaler versus Drew Blood in a Hardcore Rules Match. However, Drew
Blood dominated this match in just 3 minutes and 31 seconds and used a
devastating finisher to win the match when he hit a Full Nelson German
Suplex onto the Steel Steps to capture the win. But, there was more hardcore
and brutal matches. The TWF Lightheavyweight Title was on the line when "Too
Hot" Scott Taylor defended against Justin Sane in a match that made your jaw
drop. After hitting a Double Arm DDT onto thousands of Thumbtacks, Sane
looked to have it won, but instead he brought a picnic table into the ring
and set Taylor up onto it. He then climbed a ladder and went to the Arena's
Parking Garage Roof! In one of the most amazing moves ever, he leaped off,
but Taylor was able to move out of the way, and make the cover to retain his
championship.
Goldust versus Rock isn't a famous match, but the crowd was crazy about it.
The roof came off when The Rock hit the People's Elbow and got the 1, 2, 3
and the "Rocky" chants wouldn't stop. A match that is famous, was between
arguably the two greatest Tag Teams in TWF History, The Acolytes versus
Strife and Bahamut. This match was 20 minutes of incredible action, but in
the end we saw Bahamut get the 1, 2, 3 after debuting his new finisher, The
Halt of Time. And the last match before the Main Events, The Undertaker
versus Nails. This turned out to be more of The Undertaker versus Nails,
William Regal and Stephanie McMahon. After Regal got kicked out though, it
was just Nails and Stephanie. However, when Stephanie threw Nails a Steel
Chair, he got it crushed into his own face when The Undertaker nailed him
with a Big Boot! Taker overcame the odds and beat all three of them really.
Now, for the Main Events of the evening, always wanted to say that. The
first one, was for the UFC Title in a 30 Minute Ultimate Submission Match
between probably the two best Submission Wrestlers ever, Travis Wakeman and
Ken Shamrock. It did not disapoint as it was Tied 1-1 when at 1:50 left in
the match, it got even more interesting. Shamrock was in total control and
he locked on the Ankle Lock! Trish dragged Wakeman to the ropes, and many
think Shamrock would've gotten it if it wasn't for her. Then, after Shamrock
yelled at Trish, he ducked a Clothesline and went for a Hurricarana which
was reversed into a Powerbomb! Wakeman then locked on the Sharpshooter, and
with 33 seconds left, Shamrock tapped out. Wakeman would win the UFC
Championship as Shamrock was purely stunned.
In by far one of the most brutal matches ever thought of, Scott Steiner took
on Jordan Rockwell. Rockwell backdropped Steiner onto the hood of the
Ambulance and hit a Diving Elbow Drop onto a Trash Can crushing Steiner's
chest, but Steiner somehow elbowed the door into Rockwell's face. Steiner
even went as far as trying to run Rockwell over with the ambulance!
Rockwell then got the upper hand again, and looked to have it won as he came
flying off the Ambulance, but he then got sprayed with the fire extinguisher
in his face! Then probably the most devestating move ever, Steiner hit the
Steinerizer, a Screwdriver Suplex, onto the Steel Ramp! Steiner threw
Rockwell into the ambulance and got the win.
Finally, The Main Event, the grand daddy of 'em all! Team nWo consisitng of
Hollywood Hogan, Scott Hall and Kevin Nash took on Team TWF consisting of
"Stone Cold" Steve Austin, Triple H and Shawn Michaels. If anyone on Team TWF
pinned anyone on Team nWo, they would become TWF Champion. So the stakes
were obviously high. With Six of the Greatest Singles and Tag Team
Competitors of all time in one ring, it was no doubt a great 15 Minutes of
Fame. Austin and Nash constantly went at it outside of the ring, but the
worst timing of them all was after Triple H's Second Pedigree when Earl
Hebner was distracted by them fighting. In the end, Shawn Michaels and Hulk
Hogan were left in the ring. HBK "tuned up the band", and nailed Hogan with
the Sweet Chin Music! Michaels got the 1, 2, 3 and won the TWF Title for the
first time in his career!
Max Ogden: "This was the first TWF Pay-Per-View I ever saw, and it featured
some of my idols so I had to have loved it. My favorite match of all time
was and always will be Team TWF versus Team nWo where HBK won his first TWF
Title. A Shot that was heard round the world. That's what I like to call
HBK's Sweet Chin Music on Hulk Hogan. HBK has been a friend of mine for
around 2 years now, and if it wasn't for him I probably wouldn't be in the
TWF right now, so it was definately good for me to watch. And one day, at
Code Red, I'll be facing Shawn Michaels for the TWF Title, that's a
guarentee.
BACK TRACK
The man known as The Memory Maker, Max Ogden, has not always had the glory
of being in a wrestling ring. Whether fans love him or hate him is beside
the matter, he is out doing what he's dreamed of doing his entire life.
After his parents tragically died when he was 7 years old, he moved in with
a pair of foster parents who then found their own house. Except 2 years
later, those parents got divorced. Living in Brooklyn wasn't easy for him,
being a white kid in a black neighborhood, but he managed to survive.
Fights, drugs and alcohol are basically all his life consisted of as a kid,
and now he takes out that pain in the ring. When he turned 11, he started in
the "drug game." Dealing drugs on the side of the block, he never realized
how much of a risk he was really taking. Finally, one day he got arrested.
After going to juvenile for a few months he came out a changed man. But
again at age 16, he got arrested for assaulting a police officer. After two
parents dying, two parents divorcing, two jail sentences, and two best
friends being murdered, he had two more big hits. First, his best living
friend stabbed Max in the back, literally. Having Max meet him somewhere,
then jumping him with other people, simply saying it was just business.
Since then, he picked up two new hobbies, basketball and wrestling. Starting
with bare-knuckle fights where the loser would be the man who couldn't answer
the 10 count, Ogden had an impressive 51 straight wins before quitting at
the top like famous fighter Rocky Marciano. The reason his fighting career
ended however was because of a person he met. It might sound like it got
ruined, but it was actually one of the best moments in his entire career. He
met the late, great and legendary superstar, Road Warrior Hawk. Becoming
close friends with Hawk, and meeting people along the line such as the late
greats, Curt Hennig, better known as Mr. Perfect, and Davey Boy Smith,
better known as The British Bulldog, he learned valuable things about
wrestling. He eventually trained with the Legion of Doom at a small gym and
tried out some independent leagues. With the greatest Tag Team of all time
behind him, and meeting new people such as Rocky Johnson, Dwayne "The Rock"
Johnson, and even Shawn Michaels, Max thought he was at the top of the
world. But, it got better. At just 16, Max won the ESW World Heavyweight
Championship in a local New York Indy Fed. "Finally," he thought, "This is
my chance to prove to the world what I can do!" However that feeling became
bittersweet when his brother, the only blood-relative he had left, passed
away in a car crash. After feeling that hardship in his life, he felt it was
all over for him, his basketball career, wrestling career, and his life too.
After going through the thoughts of going back to drugs, his long time
friends Paul Ellering, Michael Hegstrand (Hawk), Joe Laurinaitis (Animal)
and Michael Hickenbottom (Shawn Michaels) helped him through the hard time.
However, October 18, 2003, the man who brought him into wrestling, Michael
Hegstrand, Road Warrior Hawk, passed away. Dying in his sleep, Ogden says
it's how Hawk wanted to pass away. Since then, Ogden has trained to become
one of the top superstars.
At only 18 years of age, Max Ogden looks like he could definitely be the
future of wrestling today. With guys like Matt Cruz, Jason Oliver, Chris
Platoon and Mariner as some of the younger stars, he will have to work that
much harder to do that though. His first big break with the TWF came in mid
2004 when he was signed to the SMW, after long-time friends Road Warrior
Animal and Shawn Michaels gave good word to the TWF. He made a quick
impact, winning his debut match, and in just a few matches, he had a shot to
get the SMW Championship. At SMW Lethal Lottery he overcame a battle royale
that left the last two men Carney, the legendary TWF Lightheavyweight
superstar, and Max Ogden. Ogden somehow managed to beat Carney and earn a
shot at the SMW Championship. And he did not disappoint when later that
night, he won the SMW Title from the champion at the time, Recon Rage. And
fittingly, he did all of this two days after his 18th birthday. And in his
first SMW Championship title defense, he took on the man he beat the night
before, Carney. And he went on to surprise everyone and prove that it was no
fluke when he beat Carney again. When he was called up to
Rampage, he aligned himself with Joe Corey and Chris Masters, giving himself
a huge boost. After a slow start to his career, going 2-5, he has turned it
around with three straight wins, including the feud-ending win over Rob
Storm. With his painful past, and his promising future, Max Ogden seems
determined to make a name for himself, whether it's for self pleasure, or in
the honor of his fallen friends and family. But for whatever reason he does
it, he definitely looks like he will be able to carry this company on his
shoulders for years to come.
