THE FOLLOWING ARE NOTES FROM THE PRESS CONFERENCE WHICH WAS HELD EARLIER TODAY FROM MADISON SQUARE GARDEN, SITE OF TWF/GWF WHEN WORLD's COLLIDE.
THERE WERE ABOUT 100 PEOPLE IN THE CONFERENCE ROOM BETWEEN EMPLOYEES OF BOTH COMPANIES AND MEDIA. BRAD CONNER, PART OWNER OF THE GWF, WAS INTRODUCED AND HE PUT THE GWF OVER AS THE #1 WRESTLING COMPANY IN THE WORLD. VINCE AND STEPHANIE McMAHON WERE THEN INTRODUCED. BRAD AND VINCE BOTH SAID IT WILL BE A PLEASURE WORKING WITH EACH OTHER AND STEPHANIE ANNOUNCES THAT ALL PROCEEDS WILL GO TO BENEFIT THE VICTIMS FAMILIES OF THE 9/11 TERRORIST ATTACKS. STEPHANIE THEN RUNS THROUGH THE INTERPROMOTIONAL MATCHES ON THE CARD, THEY ARE AS FOLLOWS: 1. Main Event: TWF champion Jordan Rockwell vs. GWF champion King T 2. GWF North American Title Match.... Challenger: Nemesis vs. Ravishing Robert 3. Six Man Tag: nWo vs. nWo- Loser must stop using the name. 4. Fatal 4 Way elimination to decide the best wrestling show on tv: "High Octane" Damion West vs. Rhyno vs. Jimmy Justice vs. D.W. Jones 5. I Quit Match: Travis Wakeman w/ Brock Lesnar vs. Taz w/ Tommy Dreamer
THE MEDIA THEN ASKED VINCE AND BRAD A FEW QUESTIONS: To Brad: "After such a short tenure in the business, what makes you think you can take on the TWF, a very strong company"? Brad: "Well, we are very confident in our product. We know what we have to do to win and we will. In just a short time, we have taken something that was very small and we have created serious competition for these guys. I hope they're aware of that". To Vince: "What is your overall opinion of this upstart company, the GWF"? Vince: "Well, to answer Mr. Conner's question yes, we are aware of what they've accomplished. But the big question is can they maintain that over a period of time? That remains to be seen. As far as my opinion, I haven't personally watched their product too many times but I like some of what they've done, definitely". To Brad: "How do you respond to all the criticism you have received over the last several months"? Brad: "We all take it in stride, you get used to it. If it's not one thing, it's the other. Either we got someone breathing down our necks cause our shows are a little extreme or we got someone saying we steal the TWF's ideas. Either way, we don't care. We're gonna continue to give the fans exactly what they want and as long as our television ratings continue to get better, there's no need for a change". To Vince: "Does the TWF really have something to prove at this event"? Vince: "You bet we do. This is an upstart company who'd like to be where we are. This is real competition and we thrive on that. So yes, the TWF needs to come out looking good here so we don't have any doubters. And one of the men who's gonna help us do that is about to join us now. Please welcome Travis Wakeman folks". "MAKE WAY" BY METHOD MAN HITS AS TRAVIS WAKEMAN COMES OUT WITH BROCK LESNAR AND TRISH AND FEW CLAPS ARE HEARD. Travis Wakeman: "Thank you Vince. Now I'm not out here to take any reporters questions so just save it. I'm out here to send one last message to Taz. If I didn't make myself clear on PrimeTime Taz, I am going to teach you a lesson. Now I see you accepted my challenge and you asked that Tommy Dreamer be able to come out with you. Well that's fine. Because..... WAKEMAN IS INTERRUPTED BY "THUG SUPERSTAR" BY BONE THUGS -N- HARMONY AS TAZ AND TOMMY DREAMER COME OUT. Wakeman: "What the.... Taz: "Now you save it Wakeman. I want you to look at the big screen in here and take a look at what you're up against. TAZ THEN PRESENTS ABOUT A 2 AND A HALF MINUTE VIDEO SHOWING FOOTAGE OF HIS DAYS IN THE OLD MFW, WCW2 AND NOW IN THE GWF. COUNTLESS VICTORIES ARE SHOWN. THE FOOTAGE ENDS WITH A SHOT OF TAZ SITTING ON THE TOP TURNBUCKLE IN A GWF RING AND THE PHRASE "THE MOOD IS ABOUT TO CHANGE" IS SHOWN IN YELLOW LETTERS. See Wakeman, where I come from, you're nothin' but a bitch that likes to run his mouth! And the reason I asked that my boy Dreamer be there is because I know how you operate. You're gonna have to win this one the old fashion way! Wakeman, I've been waiting for this day forever, you just don't know it. And at When World's Collide, I'm gonna make you scream I quit"! WAKEMAN TRIES TO GO AT TAZ BUT A HOARD OF SECURITY STEPS BETWEEN THE TWO AND ESCORTS THEM IN OPPOSITE DIRECTIONS. LESNAR TAKES A SWING AT DREAMER THAT DOESN'T CONNECT BEFORE THE 4 MEN ARE TAKEN OUT OF THE ROOM. WE THEN GO TO THE RING, WHERE DYLAN JANSENS IS FACING FORMER MULTI-TIME TWF LIGHTHEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION WEAPON R. Interpromotional Match Dylan Jansens vs. Weapon R This was a good match between two men with very different styles. Weapon R started the match off as he's accustomed to doing, laying in a few karate kicks to Jansens who had a hard time figuring out how to defend against them. But after ducking a roundhouse kick and countering with a back foot sweep, Jansens did exactly what he had to do and locked in a side headlock. The ground based attack helped Jansens slow down the martial arts expert and he worked on his right leg and lower back like a hungry predator and Weapon R had no answer for Jansens' style. But after ducking a clothesline, he blasted him with a crescent kick but Jansens was able to kick out at 2. He then wrenched one of Jansens' arms back and went for a hook kick but Jansens ducked and kicked him in the gut, hitting a ddt that stuck Weapon R straight up. Jansens then locked in the "Dragon Stretch" and after trying to fight his way out, Weapon R had no alternative but to tap out as Jansens pulled off a shocker. Match Time: 5:48 BACK IN THE CONFERENCE ROOM, BRAD CONNER INTRODUCES THE GWF CHAMPION KING T AND HIS VALET, ARIEL. King T: "I'll take questions here in a minute but I can't wait to get that piece of crap, sorry excuse for a company's champion Jordan Rockwell out here, bring him out"! "ROCK HARD" BY JA RULE PLAYS AS JORDAN ROCKWELL AND LITA COME OUT. ROCKWELL IS HOLDING THE TWF TITLE OVER HIS SHOULDER. Reporter: "King T, it has been seen many times on GWF tv that you refer to this man's sex life. What for"? King T: "Well ya see, I now how to get under a virgin's skin and it's obviously workin'. Lita is just a cop out, she doesn't like this guy. And if she does, it doesn't matter, she doesn't look nearly as good as my Ariel". Reporter: "Mr. Rockwell, what do you think of King T as a person"? Jordan Rockwell: "I have been part of the TWF for over a year now and in that year I have bled, sweat and given every ounce of myself to Mr. Vince McMahon and his family and to the fans of the TWF. I've given everything I have and everything I am for one year to the business that I love and have dedicated my entire life to being part of and being the best at and for those of you that don't know, I've been given the monarch Mr. Showtime not because I need a cool nickname but simply because of what I have just stated and because of all that at MeltDown I earned the right to own this ( holds up the TWF world title as photo's are taken) and I earned the right to be called TWF world champion and King T, (turns his way a bit) when you defaced this title you disrespected my company, my hard work and above all else you disrespected all the past champions that have worn this title so to answer your question, I think this man is the lowest form of life possible. Make fun of my sex life if you want to, we'll see who laughs last". Reporter: "After winning the GWF World title for a second time, do you think you have the momentum necessary to win this match"? King T: "Well that's kind of a stupid question. I think I could beat this guy on my worst day. But with the momentum I have now from kicking Booker T's ass, I'm gonna make this guy look like the chump that he is"! Reporter: "Rockwell, can you gaurantee us a victory"? Rockwell: "I won't promise a victory but I promise two things. One, that when it's over you will be a believer and secondly, I promise..... (pauses and looks down at vince mcmahon) no I guarentee that I'm gonna disrespect you! Thank you". THERE YA HAVE IT! WE'RE ALL READY FOR WHEN WORLD's COLLIDE!
