Des Moines was a hot spot with PrimeTime in town, the first stop on the official road to WrestleMania with the Royal Rumble out of the way. The fans were treated to a jam packed night of action, starting with a full slate on Uprising. Tajiri and The Ultimo Dragon vs. War on America Tajiri and the Dragon made up a great team and War on America seemed to greatly underestimate them. As Tajiri locked on the Tarantula on Hirohito, Ultimo used a small package to get the pin on Aries out of nowhere. Paul London vs. Luther Reigns The smaller, more elusive London gave Reigns fits, employing a hit and run offense. But after ducking a swinging backhand, London ran into a blistering foot to the face and Luther covered him for the 3 count. Nick Dinsmore vs. Rene Dupree w/ Dawn Marie Dinsmore continued his push into the singles division but Dupree was the better man on this night, using a distraction from Dawn which led to a rollup and the 3 count. Non-Title: Essa Rios vs. Lightheavyweight Champ Chavo Guerrero Rios was more than a suitable opponent for Chavo, taking him out of his mat based attack by using his high flying offense. But Chavo was able to avoid a high risk move from the apron and that led to the "Gory Bomb" and a 3 count victory for the champion. AS CHAVO LEFT HOLDING HIS TITLE UP, THE SHOT FADED OUT, SIGNIFYING PRIMETIME WAS JUST MOMENTS AWAY. PRIMETIME GOES LIVE
"RAP SUPERSTAR" PLAYS AND LEADS INTO THE BROADCAST. THE FAMILIAR BLACK AND WHITE MONTAGE VIDEO RUNS AS FANS IN THE ARENA START TO SCREAM IN ANTICPATION OF THE LIVE CAMERAS ROLLING. AS SOON AS THE ARENA COMES INTO THE SHOT, EDGE's THEME BY METALINGUS HITS AND HE COMES OUT ALL FIRED UP AS THE CROWD LOUDLY CHEERS. Michael Cole: "We are in Des Moines, Iowa for the top wrestling program in the world today.... PrimeTime! Welcome folks, Michael Cole and Jesse "The Body" Ventura ringside here and we're jumping right into the action Jess, Hardcore title on the line"! Jesse Ventura: "That's why fans love this show Michael, no dilly dallying and screwing off, we've got a title match as our opening bout"! "HELL's GUARDIAN" BY SLIPKNOT PLAYS AND NAILS HEADS DOWN THE RAMP, CARRYING A NOOSE IN ONE HAND AND THE HARDCORE TITLE BELT IN THE OTHER. Cole: "I'm almost afraid to ask what Nails is gonna do with that but as we've learned througout this guy's storied character Jesse, he is capable of anything". Ventura: "Nails embodies the word hardcore, that title is on his waist for a reason and that's because these type of matches cater to him Cole". Cole: "Even with that being said, Edge still looks very confident that he can win that title"! TWF Hardcore Title Match Challenger: Edge vs. Nails Nails got into the ring and tossed the title down, charging at Edge with the noose. Edge was able to beat him to the punch though and he wrestled the noose away from him, wrapping it around his neck. Referee Charles Robinson was helpless, not able to make Edge, who was competing with a much different intensity than usual, break the hold. He finally let go and got a steel chair as Nails rolled the floor. From under the apron, Nails pulled out a No Parking sign and when Edge came over, Nails smashed him as he stuck his head through the ropes. Nails then picked up a Singapore cane and proceeded to beat Edge across the back with it. Feeling he had the match well in hand, Nails set him on the top rope, calling for his powerbomb. But Edge pushed Nails off and then came off with a missile dropkick. He picked up the steel chair and wedged it in the corner but Nails came from behind with a lowblow. After beating Edge about with a trash can lid, Nails shot him to the ropes and went for a backbody drop. But Edge landed on his feet, in perfect position for the spear. He went for it but Nails moved and he slammed head first into the chair! Nails rolled him up to get the 1............2.........., but somehow, Edge got his shoulder off the mat just in time. Axl Irvin and Orlando Jordan came out next. Axl got into the ring but Edge blocked a right hand and knocked him to the floor. Jordan managed to get the chair free from the corner and he brought it into the ring, taking a heavy swing at Edge. But when Edge ducked, the chair smashed Nails and Edge then put O.J. down with the spear. The crowd was on their feet as Edge rolled onto Nails and Robinson counted the 1...........2........3. Match Time: 6:41 Cole: "Yes! Edge got him! The long reign of Nails as Hardcore champion is over"! Ventura: "I hate to say this Cole, but it is all Orlando Jordan's fault! What a blunder that was and you know it's one Nails is not happy with". Cole: "Edge overcame the odds, using his enemies against each other for a brilliant win"! BACKSTAGE AREA...... IDALIS IS STANDING WITH RIC FLAIR AND MIKE AUSTIN. Idalis: "Mike Austin, even though you did not win the Royal Rumble, rumor has it that you are even more upset that Stone Cold Steve Austin did not accept your challenge to show up there"? Mike Austin: "Idalis, what my uncle did was prove to everyone........ JUST THEN, JORDAN ROCKWELL COMES UP AND TAKES THE MICROPHONE AND WALKS AWAY. Jordan Rockwell: "Sorry boys, but the franchise has got something to say and this was the only mic I could find. O'Haire...... you and I are gonna do it again, you can count on that! But first, Jason Oliver, I've got somethin' for you! You wanna be a star? You wanna mess with me? Well how bout I give you a chance to become a star? Tonight, if you beat an opponent of my choosing, I will give you a one on one oppurtunity to make yourself a household name..... against me. But if you lose, then you do what I say! You become my personal servant for thirty days! Now I've already got your opponent picked out Oliver..... someone who has already beaten you. All you have to do is accept". ROCKWELL TOSSES THE MIC BACK TO FLAIR AND WALKS AWAY AS A PROMO GRAPHIC WITH DYLAN JANSENS INSIDE THE PRIMETIME LOGO POPS UP. Cole: "In addition to all of the action we have tonight folks, Dylan Jansens is scheduled to be here and not only that, but what a main event we have in store Jess". ANOTHER PROMO GRAPHIC POPS UP. Ventura: "Two big studs are gonna be face to face Cole! It's not King Kong versus Godzilla, but it's close! Batista takes on Strife.... tonight"! COMMERCIAL BREAK....... A COMMERCIAL FOR GODADDY.COM IS SHOWN FOLLOWED BY ONE FOR PEPSI. RETURN FROM BREAK.... RINGSIDE.... Akio and Sakoda vs. A.J. Styles and Sychotic There was little semblance of a tag team match here as Akio and Sakoda took on Styles and the electrifying newcomer, Sychotic. Styles was able to hook Akio up for the "Styles Clash" after Akio ducked his head too soon off an irish whip but Sakoda kicked him right in the face before he could hit it. The legal man, Sychotic hit Sakoda with a flying wheel kick before tossing Akio out of the ring. Styles and Sakoda then battled as Sychotic took a running start and jumped on the ring ropes, coming off with an incredible corkscrew in which he must've been 10 feet in the air. But Akio scrambled out of the way and Sychotic came down sternum first on the ring barricade. Akio then rolled into the ring to beat referee Brian Hebner's 10 count but Sychotic couldn't do the same as Akio and Sakoda were awarded the match. Match Time: 4:13 STYLES CHECKED ON SYCHOTIC WHO WAS HOLDING HIS CHEST AREA AS THE SHOT SHIFTED BACKSTAGE. BACKSTAGE...... MIKE AUSTIN DUMPS OVER A TRASH CAN IN THE HALLWAY. Ric Flair: "Mike, calm down man, we'll get Stone Cold". Mike Austin: "Who does Rockwell think he is? That was my interview time"! JUST THEN, BATISTA COMES UP. Batista: "Ya know, you guys need to stop worrying about Stone Cold, he's old news". AUSTIN GETS UP IN BATISTA's FACE. Austin: "Old news? Maybe to you! I have a point to prove"! FLAIR SEPERATES THE TWO MEN. Flair: "Hey, come on guys. Batista, it's family business, let Mike handle it his way, you just go get ready for Strife". BATISTA WALKS AWAY AS THE SHOT GOES BACK TO RINGSIDE WHERE RICK CLARK IS WAITING IN THE RING WITH HIS MUSIC PLAYING. Ventura: "Settle 'em down Flair". Cole: "Tense feelings in the backstage area but this match is gonna be a little more than tense Jesse. A REPLAY OF CLARK BEATING TIRPAK DOWN AS HE MADE HIS WAY INTO THE ROYAL RUMBLE MATCH IS SHOWN. Because during the Royal Rumble, Chris Tirpak had his chance to win all but taken away by this man"! "TNT" BY AC/DC HITS AND CHRIS TIRPAK COMES OUT TO A GOOD CHEER. HE RUNS TO THE RING, NOT WANTING TO WASTE ANY TIME. Ventura: "Tirpak tried to gut it out anyway but he had nothing left by the time he got in there"! Cole: "Not to mention the fact that these two are former tag team partners and Tirpak is in there..... here we go"! Rick Clark vs. Chris Tirpak Clark was all over his former tag team partner the second he entered the ring, hammering him with some heavy shots. But Tirpak was full of too much adrenaline and worked his way up. He blocked a right hand and knocked Clark into the corner with one of his own. He then stomped away on him in the corner before referee Mike Enos pulled him away. Clark then got in a finger to the eye and went for an irish whip to the corner. But Tirpak reversed it and followed in with a hard clothesline before whipping him to the ropes for a tilt-a-whirl sideslam. Tirpak then raised an arm into the air, drawing a big cheer from the crown and when Clark got up, he pulled him in for the "New Jersey Turnpike", rolling him over for the 1.........2........3. Match Time: 5:31 Cole: "And emphatically, this one is over"! Ventura: "One hell of a performance by Chris Tirpak and that's how you get revenge"! Cole: "Wait a minute, there's Muhammad Hassan"! MUHAMMAD HASSAN CAME OUT ALONG WITH TIGER ALI SINGH AND THEY TRIED TO CORNER TIRPAK IN, GOING TO SEPERATE SIDES OF THE RING. BUT KID GUNDAM CAME OUT AND NAILED HASSAN FROM BEHIND, TAKING IT TO HIM. TIRPAK THEN GRABBED SINGH BY THE TURBAN AND PUT HIM DOWN WITH THE "NEW JERSEY TURNPIKE" AS WELL. TIRPAK THEN POINTED TO GUNDAM AS IF TO SAY "THANKS" AS THE CROWD WENT WILD. Cole: "Well that sure as hell backfired! Kid Gundam is beginning to show his true colors Jesse and this crowd loves him"! Ventura: "Being against this country will never do you any good Michael and these three punks just found that out first hand"! PRIOR TO COMMERCIAL.... PARKING GARAGE..... IN THE PARKING GARAGE, A LONG STRETCH BLACK LIMOSINE PULLS UP. THE CHAUFFUER GETS OUT AND WALKS TO THE BACK DOOR, OPENING IT TO LET THE NEW UNIVERSAL CHAMPION SHANE THOMPSON OUT. HE GETS OUT WITH THE BELT DRAPED OVER HIS SHOULDER AS THE CROWD LOUDLY BOOS. THOMPSON REACHES INTO HIS POCKET AND PULLS OUT SOME MONEY, HANDING IT TO THE CHAUFFUER. Chauffuer: "Mr. Thompson, this is a first". Shane Thompson: "Keep it.... I can do that now". THOMPSON PATS THE BELT AND ENTERS THE ARENA AS THE SHOT FADES OUT. COMMERCIAL BREAK........ A PROMO FOR TWF CODE RED IS SHOWN FOLLOWED BY A PREVIEW FOR THE MOVIE "THE CURSE". RETURN FROM BREAK.... RINGSIDE..... AS PRIMETIME RETURNS, "BOTTOM LINE" BY SWOLLEN MEMBERS PLAYS AND JASON TIGER OLIVER COMES DOWN THE AISLE TO A LOT OF BOOS. Cole: "Just before the Royal Rumble, this man here set up Jordan Rockwell for an attack and it has led to this. If Jason Oliver can beat the opponent that Rockwell has selected for him, he will get a match with him. But if he loses, he becomes Rockwell's personal servant for one month"! Ventura: "But who has Rockwell picked"?! "BODIES" BY DROWNING POOL PLAYS AND CHAOS WOLF COMES OUT TO A GOOD CHEER. Cole: "There's your answer! It's fellow New Breed member Chaos Wolf, a man who holds a pinfall victory over Oliver"! Ventura: "And a man who had a great showing in the Royal Rumble, he was the last PrimeTime guy in the match"! Cole: "And a win here could start to teach this youngster Oliver a lesson as he would have to do Rockwell's bidding"! Jason Tiger Oliver vs. Chaos Wolf Chaos Wolf came out swinging against the much bigger Oliver. But after catching Wolf with a straight kick to the face, Oliver began to take over and basically dominate him. After a jumping shoulder breaker, Oliver seemed to have the match locked up but Wolf kicked out at 2 and 3 quarters. Oliver wore him down for the next 3 minutes of the match and fans were surprised to see Wolf taking such a beating. But off an irish whip, Wolf ducked a clothesline and scored with a flying forearm followed by a big DDT. But just then, Sean O'Haire and Heidenreich both came out. As Heidenreich distracted referee Mike Chioda, O'Haire threw a steel chair to Wolf. Oliver then just fell to the mat as Heidenreich implored Chioda to turn around. When he did, he saw Oliver on the mat, acting as if he was in severe pain and Wolf holding the chair, so he called for the bell. Match Time: 9:05 Cole: "No! Not this again"! Ventura: "I think Chaos Wolf has been disqualified here"! Ring Announcer: "The winner of this match as the result of a disqualification..... Jason Tiger Oliver"! Cole: "Ah damn"! Ventura: "And you know what this means Michael! He won't be Rockwell's servant, but instead his opponent"! O'HAIRE AND HEIDENREICH LEFT AS OLIVER FOLLOWED WITH HIS RIGHT ARM IN THE AIR. CHAOS WOLF THREW THE STEEL CHAIR TO THE FLOOR IN DISGUST. Cole: "Well as Rockwell put it, Oliver will now get the chance to make himself a star, a household name if you will"! BACKSTAGE...... STRIFE IS POUNDING A PUNCHING BAG IN THE BACK WHEN BAHAMUT COMES UP. Bahamut: "Strife.... stop for a minute man. You're not gonna believe what Shane McMahon just told me". Strife: "What"? Bahamut: "Apparently, Jamal and Rosey from Rampage want to prove to the world that they are the best tag team in the TWF by beating us at WrestleMania six". Strife: "Really. Well if that's what they want, it's fine with me. I'd love to knock those two overweight Samoans off my tracks. But tonight, I get to do that to Batista". Bahamut: "Good luck big man". BACK AT RINGSIDE, ROME's MUSIC HITS AND HE COMES OUT TO A MIXED REACTION. Cole: "That match between Strife and Batista is still to come but you mentioned Chaos Wolf having an impact on the Royal Rumble match Jesse, how 'bout the damage this guy did in it"? Ventura: "There was a brief moment when I thought Rome was gonna win the whole thing Cole, he seemed unstoppable"! "BURN IN MY LIGHT" BY MERCY DRIVE HITS AND RANDY ORTON COMES OUT TO A HUGE CHEER, AMID HIS GOLD PYRO SHOWER. Cole: "And tonight he has his biggest match today against this man"! Ventura: "And I like Rome's chances Cole. Randy Orton is every bit as tough as his father was but Rome is a unique specimen and is going to be very hard to beat"! Cole: "Rome is undefeated and for the most part has been unphased and you're right Jesse, if Orton is to win this match, he's gonna have to do it with no mistakes"! Rome vs. Randy Orton Referee Charles Robinson had his hands full trying to call the action between these two young studs as he had to make them break three times in the early going. Rome finally just lifted Orton up and drove him into the corner. Rome then drove his shoulder into the gut of Orton before taking him by the hair and throwing him to the mat. Orton was on his knees, trying to get up but Rome stood over him and pounded him with some swinging forearms to the face. Rome then picked him up, looking for a belly to belly suplex but Orton elbowed him right in the head before hitting 2 european uppercuts and a big dropkick. Orton then bounced off the ropes but Rome grabbed him and this time, hit the belly to belly. Rome went for the cover but only got a 2 count. Rome went for an elbow drop but Orton rolled out of the way and then caught Rome with another standing dropkick. He went to the top rope and came off with a perfect cross body to get the 1...........2......., but Rome pushed him off. Rome then smashed him with a clothesline as they both got up at the same time and called for the "Ragnoreck Powerbomb". But Orton was able to squirm free and he grabbed Rome around the head for the "RKO". But Rome gave him a shove and Orton hit Robinson with a ton of momentum, knocking him through the ropes and to the floor. Rome then grabbed him for a german suplex but Orton hit him with a back elbow and then bounced off the ropes. But both men were thinking the same thing, crushing each other with clotheslines. Both men and the referee were down as Rhyno came running down the aisle and into the ring. Rome was the first to his feet but he didn't stay there for long as Rhyno steamrolled him with the "Gore"! Rhyno pounded his chest 3 times and got Robinson up before leaving. Orton made it to his feet and when Rome got up, he delivered the "RKO" to get the 1........2.......3. Match Time: 10:28 Cole: "Rhyno has come out here and not only cost Rome the match, but his undefeated streak as well"! Ventura: "This may've been the only way Orton could've won this match Michael, but thanks to Rhyno, we'll never know"! Cole: "I just hope Rhyno is ready to face the wrath of Rome because there is no doubt he will"! NEW BREED DRESSING ROOM....... CHRIS TIRPAK IS TRYING TO CALM DOWN A FURIOUS CHAOS WOLF WHO IS DESTROYING THE LOCKER ROOM WHEN JORDAN ROCKWELL ENTERS. Rockwell: "Calm down Wolf! A COMMERCIAL FOR TWF FIGURES IS SHOWN FOLLOWED BY ONE FOR BURGER KING. RETURN FROM BREAK.... RINGSIDE..... Rob Van Dam and Rey Mysterio vs. Charlie Haas and Rob Conway w/ Ted Dibiase This was the definition of a seesaw battle as these two teams trading the momentum multiple times. Late in the match, with all 4 men in the ring, Mysterio hit Conway with the 6-1-9 but referee Brian Hebner wanted to get some order and hauled Mysterio to his corner. RVD then tried to roll Haas up after running him into the ring ropes but Haas reversed it using RVD's own momentum against him and he hooked the tights as Hebner completed the 3 count. Match Time: 8:50 BACKSTAGE...... IN THE BACKSTAGE AREA, SEAN O'HAIRE IS SHOWN WITH HEIDENREICH, WEARING AN OLD NEW BREED T-SHIRT. HE TOSSES HEIDENREICH A SHIRT. Cole: "We promised you that the former Universal champion would be here and there he is Jesse, showing the after effects of that brutal Dragon's Lair match"! Ventura: "We knew there would be no winners physically Michael and we just saw Charlie Haas fight through the pain to pick up a win but Jansens took the worst of all when he was thrown through that table"! Cole: "This crowd here in Des Moines showing there appreciation for DJ's effort at the Royal Rumble". Dylan Jansens: "Thank you all very much. Ya know, I wanted so badly to be here tonight with that Universal title around my waist, but I have to say, I'm not ashamed of anything. Having that title was the highlight of my career, ade all the more better by you guys. THE FANS LOUDLY CHEER SOME MORE. At the Royal Rumble, I had the match I wanted and I truly believe that nine times out of ten, I'm gonna come out the winner there. But on that night, there was someone who was better than I and I would like to call him to the ring right now. Shane Thompson, if you would". Ventura: "This could get ugly Michael". Cole: "I don't think those are Jansens intentions here". "WAITING TO DIE" BY HED HITS AND SHANE THOMPSON COMES OUT IN STREET CLOTHES, A PAIR OF JEANS AND A BLACK LEATHER JACKET, THE UNIVERSAL TITLE OVER HIS SHOULDER. Jansens: "Come on in here Shane, I got something to say". THOMPSON GETS INTO THE RING AND GETS ANOTHER MIC. Shane Thompson: "Make this quick Jansens, I got two girls in the back who wanna see my belt, if you know what I mean. Oh, and please don't cry out here either". Jansens: "No, there's not gonna be any crying, I just wanted to congratulate you on one hell of a performance. I also have to admit something. You and I have known each other for a couple years now, but the first time I saw you compete, I knew you'd get to the top one day". JANSENS EXTENDS HIS HAND. THOMPSON PAUSES FOR A MOMENT BUT DECIDES TO SHAKE IT. Cole: "Wow, I didn't expect that". THOMPSON GOES TO LEAVE THE RING BUT JANSENS SUDDENLY ATTACKS HIM FROM BEHIND, A SHOT SO HARD IT KNOCKS HIM THROUGH THE ROPES. THOMPSON TRIES TO RETALIATE BUT OFFICIALS IMMEDIATELY GRAB HIM TO PREVENT ANYTHING. JANSENS SEEMS SURPRISED THAT HE DID IT. Ventura: "What the hell was that?! Just when you think Jansens is gonna be a good loser, he turns into a bad one"! Cole: "That's certainly a side of DJ we've never seen before. BATISTA IS IN THE RING, JUMPING IN PLACE AS STRIFE's OLD THEME SONG, "GET OFF MY TRACKS", BY P.O.D. HITS AND HE COMES OUT TO A POP EQUALLY AS LOUD. HE IS HOLDING HIS HALF OF THE TWF TAG TEAM TITLES. Cole: "One of the biggest, baddest men in TWF history is this man! A former Hardcore and World champion and currently, one half of the tag team champions"! Ventura: "What do you make of this apparent challenge put out by the Rampage champions, Jamal and Rosey"? Cole: "I think that would be a great match should it ever happen but right now, Batista is the only thing on the Locomotive's mind"! Batista vs. Strife The bell sounded and the two men began trading blows, with referee Mike Chioda in the middle to call the action. Batista smashed Strife with a right hand that seemed to knock him into another world for a moment. As Strife tried to fight off it's effects, Batista went to work on his body and then shot him to the corner, following in with a clothesline. Batista then showed why he is possibly the most powerful man in the TWF, gorilla pressing Strife and slamming him to the mat. Batista then pulled him up and wailed away with some over hand rights. Batista then sent him over the top rope with a clothesline but Strife landed on his feet and tripped Batista up, pulling him to the floor. After 2 hard right hands, he lifted him up onto his shoulder and drove him head first into the ring post. Strife then showed he may be equally as powerful, lifting Batista up and throwing him back in over the top rope. But then, Ric Flair and Mike Austin came out. Strife alerted Chioda that they were there and as Chioda went at them to tell them, Bahamut came running out and took out Flair with a big right hand. But Chioda cut him off before he could get to Austin and Austin went and grabbed Strife's tag team title, entering the ring with it. He took a shot at Strife with it but hit Batista went Strife moved! Strife then threw Austin out of the ring and grabbed Batista, delivering the "Wrong Destination" as Chidoa got into position to make the 3 count as the crowd went wild. Match Time: 9:50 Cole: "Another plan has backfired! Strife has defeated Batista"! Ventura: "And that's a match I am convinced Batista had won Michael, I don't think Strife was the better man tonight"! Cole: "Well I think you may be the only one thinking that way because Strife is your winner and if there wasn't any friction between Batista and Mike Austin before..... there is now"! OFF AIR............
