The stars of PrimeTime hadn't been in Providence in almost two years and the fans were definitely psyched for the show. As announced last week on Rampage, each division will hold their own 16 man single elimination tournament and Uprising staged 4 of those first round matches tonight. King of the Ring 1st Round Ultimo Dragon vs. Frankie Kazarian For 4 minutes these two went at it at a rapid pace but Kazarian had the "Wave of the Future" blocked and Ultimo then hit the Dragon DDT to get the victory. King of the Ring 1st Round Vlad the Impaler vs. Rene Dupree w/ Dawn Marie Dupree really had a tough time against a charged up Vlad who knocked him from one side of the ring to the other. Dupree took 2 breaks to regroup but still couldn't come up with an answer. But after a hard clothesline by Vlad, Dawn Marie saw Dylan Jansens come out and she got on the apron to distract the ref. Jansens then pulled Vlad down over the top rope with a hangman and Dupree got in position and rolled Vlad up as the ref turned to issue the 3 count. King of the Ring 1st Round Chris Platoon vs. Gangrel w/ Johnny Swinger Platoon found himself in an early hole and was still showing the effects of his cage match last week. But he got back into it by ducking a backhand and taking down Gangrel with a flying clothesline. That led to the "Last Chance" but before Platoon could get the 3 count, Swinger came in and broke up the pin, causing a DQ. But Platoon fought through their double team efforts, clearing the ring of The Brood. King of the Ring 1st Round Tajiri vs. Muhammad Hassan w/ Tiger Ali Singh Tajiri looked like he was going to advance as he pelted Hassan with sharp kick after kick. Tiger Ali Singh got on the apron but Tajiri misted him and then kicked him right in the face, knocking him to the floor. But when he turned around, Hassan was lying in wait, putting him down with his reverse faceplant manuever which got him the win. AFTER THE MATCH, HASSAN's MUSIC PLAYED AND HE RAISED HIS HANDS OUTWARD, ALMOST IN PRAYER BEFORE TURNING AND LOOKING AT TIGER, WHO WAS COVERED WITH THE GREEN MIST. HASSAN DID NOT LOOK HAPPY AS THE SHOT FADED OUT. PRIMETIME GOES LIVE THE SOUND OF A 10 BELL SALUTE IS HEARD AS THE ARENA, FILLED WITH GRACIOUS, YET VERY HEARTBROKEN EDDIE GUERRERO FANS IS SHOWN. "WHEN I'M GONE" BY 3 DOORS DOWN THEN PLAYS, LEADING A TOUCHING 5 MINUTE VIDEO HIGHLIGHTING THE AMAZING CAREER OF GUERRERO. BACK TO THE ARENA, "VIVA LA RAZA" IS HEARD AS EDDIE's ENTRANCE THEME PLAYS. HIS PICTURE IS DISPLAYED ON THE PRIMETRON AS CHANTS OF "THANK YOU EDDIE" START UP. MICHAEL COLE AND JESSE VENTURA HAVE YET TO EVEN SPEAK, THEY ARE JUST DOING THEIR BEST TO FIGHT BACK THE TEARS. COMMERCIAL BREAK......... DUE TO TIME CONTSRAINTS, THERE RESULTS WILL BE CONDENSED. RETURN FROM BREAK.... RINGSIDE..... King of the Ring Tournament 1st Round Dylan Jansens vs. Mariner Mariner really hung tough with the veteran Jansens who has shown a real mean streak lately. His repertoire is full of moves like choke holds and eye gouges now but Mariner fought through it all and caught him with a jumping enziguri. That led to a diving cross body off the top rope which got a long 2 count. Mariner then hit the ropes and went for a spinning headscissor takedown but Jansens countered it and dropped him right across his knee with a backbreaker. From there, he got him onto his shoulders in position for the "Dragon's Bane" and Mariner was forced to give it up. After the match, Vlad the Impaler ran out looking to return the favor from Uprising but Jansens got out of the ring in time and was full of laughter as Vlad helped Mariner up. Match Time: 9:32 PRIMETIME KING OF THE RING BRACKET Ultimo Dragon vs. Frankie Kazarian (Ultimo advances) Vlad the Impaler vs. Rene Dupree (Dupree advances) Rob Van Dam vs. Mordecai Dylan Jansens vs. Mariner (Jansens advances) Chris Platoon vs. Gangrel (Platoon advances) Axl Irvin vs. Ken Kennedy Tajiri vs. Muhammad Hassan (Hassan advances) Bobby Lashley vs. Edge BACKSTAGE...... The shot shifts to the dressing room where Jordan Rockwell is shown sitting on a chair wearing an Eddie Guerrero t-shirt and a black band around his arm with the letters "EG".
Jordan Rockwell: "Tonight and on all of our programs you are going to hear things said about without a doubt one of the greatest men to ever lace a pair of boots and in my honest opinion one of the greatest men i ever had the honor of knowing, Eddie Guerrero.
The fans begin chants of "Eddie".
For me, Eddie made an impact on me personally as well as professionally simply because when I battled my demons and I fell from grace one of the few people that cared enough to help me up, was Eddie Guerrero. He knew what I was going through cause it was what he had to deal with so he took it upon himself to call me on the phone and to read me scriptures out of his bible. And to just be there to give me someone to talk to while I was taking care of my problems because he new how hard it was to talk to family and other loved ones, as I would go on to find out that is the type of man Eddie was cause no matter what happened, he'd always call me, like the night I won my first world title, Eddie was one of the first few people to congratulate me.
The fans cheer.
Rockwell: He also did that when I won my first Universal title and for me the one thing that stuck out was that he always said he was proud of me for making my comebacks and for my sucess up to that point, and no matter what I did, that was always a constant. He'd tell me how proud he was of me or when I was down with my knee surgury he made it a point to call me and wish me well. Eddie meant a great deal to me and....
Rockwell starts getting choked up.......
the fact that he took time off to fly down to be at my wedding with his wife showed once again that he cared and also when he called me and my wife the day our son was born showed it cause as I said that was Eddie, he loved this business and he treated everyone like they were indeed part of his family so that is why tonight I, along with the rest of PrimeTime and our other shows do not mourn Eddie's passing but we celebrate his life and what he loved second to his family, the business!
The fans cheer again.
And I on behalf of the whole TWF want to dedicate tonight and all of our broadcasts to my fallen friend and brother, Eddie Guerrero.
Rockwell stands from his chair showing another Eddie Guerrero shirt and places the Universal title on the chair and walks off as the camera centers on the chair and gold belt. COMMERCIAL BREAK...... RETURN FROM BREAK..... RINGSIDE...... King of the Ring Tournament 1st Round Bobby Lashley vs. Edge Those out there who are unsure if Lashley is the real deal or not can rest those thoughts. Edge came into the match thinking he could outsmart the massive Lashley by using some of his old tricks. Edge used a lot of rest holds, trying to slow him down and he used every chance he could get to gain some extra leverage. Referee Chris Kay caught him with both feet on the top ring rope while having Lashley in a reverse headlock and Kay forced Edge to break the hold. Lashley caught up and ran through him with a clothesline before picking his left leg and just heaving him into the air over his head. Lashley then got a head of steam and charged Edge in the corner but Edge escaped and Lashley crashed into the turnbuckle. Edge then hit the ropes and went for the spear but Lashley kicked him right in the head, looking like an NFL punter. Edge was definitely hurt as Lashley then picked him up and drove him into the mat with his inverted Dominator drop and that got him the 1........2........3. Match Time: 5:20 EDGE LOOKED LIKE HE DIDN'T KNOW WHAT HIT HIM AS LASHLEY LEFT, HEADED FOR A SECOND ROUND MATCH WITH MUHAMMAD HASSAN. BACKSTAGE AREA..... IDALIS IS IN THE BACK WITH TED DIBIASE, WHO HAS REQUESTED THIS TIME. WANTING TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE RAMPAGE VS. PRIMETIME ATMOSPHERE AT KING OF THE RING, DIBIASE CHALLENGES SHELTON BENJAMIN TO PUT THE KING OF CABLE TITLE ON THE LINE AGAINST HIS "MONEY MAN", ROB CONWAY. DIBIASE SAYS HE WILL BE AT RAMPAGE FOR THE ANSWER. TWF Tag Team Title Match Challengers: The Orient Express w/ Sonny Onoo vs. The New Road Warriors Heidenreich came into this match the clear favorites, outpowering the martial arts duo of Kato and Tanaka. Sonny Onoo tried to rally his men from the outside but when he tried to get involved physically, he was smashed by an Animal clothesline. Animal set Kato up for the "Doomsday Device" but Tanaka kicked him in the back of the knee, knocking him down. Heidenreich came off the top rope with the clothesline on Kato anyway and went for the cover but Tanaka broke it up. Animal then charged Tanaka but he lowbridged the top rope and sent Animal sprawling to the floor. Kato had the attention of referee Charles Robinson and Onoo reached into his pocket, pulling out a handful of salt and throwing it in the face of Heidenreich! Kato then grabbed Heidenreich from behind and Tanaka superkicked him as Kato muscled him over with the bridged german suplex to get the 3 count! Onoo went and grabbed the tag team titles and gave them to his men as the crowd was in utter shock. Match Time: 6:45 COMMERCIAL BREAK....... RETURN FROM BREAK...... Mariner: "I've never met Eddie or seen him wrestle live. I did have the pleasure though of seeing him wrestle every week on tv. When I found out the news I was looking on the TWF site and I saw it. I thought maybe it was someone that died that played him. So I checked another site and it was all over that. It was just so surreal, I mean I just saw him wrestle on Friday. I couldn't believe it, I didn't want to believe it. I miss seeing him wrestle already. My thoughts go to the Guerrero family. I will see you wrestle again and I can't wait. Lie, Cheat, Steal". King of the Ring Tournament 1st Round Axl Irvin vs. Ken Kennedy This was probably the most competitive tournament match of the night as two guys trying to get to that next level had a back and forth match that could've gone either way. After a dangerous looking neckbreaker, Kennedy tried to set Axl up for the "Lambeau Leap" but Axl countered into a sunset flip rollup and got the 3 count, surprising Kennedy. Match Time: 6:59 BACKSTAGE..... SHANE THOMPSON TALKS TO IDALIS ABOUT KING OF THE RING AND ENCOURAGES THE MAN THAT WINS THE TOURNAMENT TO INCLUDE HIM ON HIS TEAM FOR THE 6 MAN TAG TEAM ELIMINATION MATCH. THAT IS, IF THEY WANT TO WIN. CHRIS MASTERS AND RICK MARTEL ARE IN THE RING FOR ANOTHER "MASTERLOCK CHALLENGE". THEY CALL ANOTHER FAN INTO THE RING AND ALTHOUGH HE IS A BIG GUY, HE STANDS NO CHANCE OF ESCAPING THE HOLD. AFTERWARDS, MARTEL CHALLENGES ANYONE IN THE WORLD TO SHOW UP AT KING OF THE RING TO TRY AND ESCAPE THE MASTERLOCK WHERE MASTERS WILL BE OFFERING $20,000 OF HIS OWN MONEY. BACKSTAGE..... CHAVO GUERRERO WANTS INTO THE DRESSING ROOM OF LA FAMILIA, ALMOST EXPECTING A CONFRONTATION. BUT THE THREE OF THEM JUST GET UP, TEARS IN THEIR EYES, AND EMBRACE HIM IN A VERY TOUCHING MOMENT. COMMERCIAL BREAK......... RETURN FROM BREAK....... MICHAEL COLE CONFIRMS THAT A SUBMISSION MATCH BETWEEN CHAOS WOLF AND VLAD THE IMPALER HAS BEEN SIGNED FOR KING OF THE RING BUT THIS TIME, IT WILL BE AN IRON CIRCLE MATCH MEANING IT WILL TAKE PLACE IN A PARKING LOT INSIDE A CIRCLE OF VEHICLES. Chaos Wolf w/ Chae vs. Ric Flair This was just an excellent match that seemed like it would go all night. Flair really took Chaos Wolf to school, battering him with his trademark knifedge chops and working diligently on his right leg, looking to set up the figure four. Chaos Wolf got back into the match with a reverse flying forearm off the top rope after Flair whipped him in and he then took it to him and really beat the heck out of the Nature Boy. But as he held Flair with a handful of hair, trying to really show him up, Flair picked Wolf up and delivered a hard shinbreaker. Chae got up on the apron but Flair turned and grabbed her by the hair, planting a kiss on her. He turned into a clothesline attempt but ducked and he then smashed the chest of Wolf with some more knifedge chops before whipping him to the ropes for a hard back elbow. He then grabbed the left leg, looking to set in the figure four when for the second time of the night, Dylan Jansens ran out. Flair met Jansens in the aisle and ducked a right hand before ramming him face first into the guard rail. In the ring, Wolf looked like he was hurt by he was just playing possum because when Flair got back in the ring, he popped up and kicked him in the gut before sticking him into the mat with a DDT that made Flair stand straight up on his head. Wolf rolled him over and hooked the leg to get the 1.......2........3. Match Time: 16:54 AFTER THE MATCH, JANSENS AND WOLF LOOKED TO DO MORE DAMAGE BUT VLAD THE IMPALER RAN OUT WITH A STEEL CHAIR AND THEY QUICKLY GOT OUT OF THE RING. TWF RE-WIND TWF BREAKTHROUGH: JULY 2004 EDDIE GUERRERO VS. REY MYSTERIO No surprise, but this was the match of the night. After some quick exchanges on the mat that drew an applause, Rey fell right into a front facelock and the bigger Guerrero began to use his size to wear down Rey. Off an irish whip, Eddie shot him into the air and Rey landed hard on the mat, stomach first. Eddie then hit his trio of suplexes and went for a cover but Rey kicked out at 2. Eddie stayed on the attack and shot him to the corner for a monkey flip. But Rey landed on his feet and ducked a clothesline before hitting a front dropkick that knocked Eddie into the corner. That led to a monkey flip by Rey. Rey then went to the apron for a slingshot legdrop which he likes to call dropping the dime and he hooked the leg for the 1........2......, but Eddie was up. Eddie got up and stumbled into a drop toehold right over the middle rope. Rey then called for the 6-1-9 and he went for it but Eddie avoided it. Eddie then shot him to the ropes and went for a leapfrog but Rey caught him on his shoulders. He had trouble holding him up though and Eddie rolled forward into a victory roll to get the 3 count. Match Time: 7:30 REY LOOKED STUNNED AS THE BELL SOUNDED AND "VIVA LA RAZA" WAS HEARD. Grisham: "Eddie Guerrero has done it! What a win for Latino Heat"! HTM: "And Rey looks absolutely dejected"! Grisham: "Look at this! EDDIE HELPED REY TO HIS FEET AND OFFERED HIM HIS HAND. REY QUICKLY SHOOK IT AND THE TWO GAVE A QUICK HUG, A MOMENT THE FANS TRULY ENJOYED. What a show of class! This has been a classy night all around and I think it's safe to say the TWF has been a hit in Mexico"! THE SHOT FADED OUT WITH EDDIE AND REY STILL IN THE RING. King of the Ring Tournament 1st Round Mordecai vs. Rob Van Dam Mordecai seems to get more dominant every time he steps in the ring and that was very evident in here as he just beat RVD down. RVD got back into the back with a back footsweep followed by the Rolling Thunder but he seem to pull a muscle of something as he went for his split legged moonsault, juts collapsing to the mat. Mordecai capitalized and smashed him with a running boot to the face before delivering the "Crucifier" to get the victory, setting up a second round match between he and Dylan Jansens. Match Time: 4:08 COMMERCIAL BREAK........ RETURN FROM BREAK.... RINGSIDE.....Shane Thompson and Nails vs. Jordan Rockwell and Christian Christian and Rockwell brought the crowd to their feet by coming out in one of Eddie Guerrero's custom lowriders. They were each wearing an Eddie Guerrero t-shirt that they threw into the crowd but Thompson and Nails wasted no time getting into it, jumping them before the bell sounded. But as the fight spilled outside, Christian was able to reverse an irish whip, sending Thompson into the steel ring post before putting him down on the arena floor with the "Un-Prettier". In the ring, Rockwell flew off the middle rope but Nails kicked him in the midsection and went for a suplex. But Rockwell was able to work his way out of it, landing behind Nails and running him into the ropes for a tuck through roll up and that got the 3 count. Match Time: 6:01 AFTER THE MATCH, THOMPSON AND NAILS WENT TO THE BACK AS ROCKWELL CUED UP EDDIE GUERRERO's MUSIC AGAIN AND DIRECTED EVERYONE's ATTENTION TO THE PRIMETRON WHERE ANOTHER VIDEO TRIBUTE FOR EDDIE GUERRERO RAN TO END THE SHOW. OFF AIR......
