Salt Lake City, Utah
Attendance: 10, 437
November 17, 2006
The stars of PrimeTime made their second trip of 2006 to the great Salt Lake, which seems to be tournament city. In March, fans in Utah got to see action in the Oppurtunity Knocks tournament and on this trip, it was the first round of the King of the Ring. Rene Dupree w/ Dawn Marie vs. Super Crazy Super Crazy electrified the crowd with his high flying style, really frustrating the French Phenom. But after rolling out of the way of his top rope moonsault, Dupree kicked him in the gut and delivered his finisher, now known as the "French Bomb", and that was it. CM Punk vs. Tanaka w/ Sonny Onoo CM Punk took on one half of the Orient Express in this one and put on one heck of an exhibition. Punk was able to counter the martial arts prowess of Tanaka with his own jujitsu skills and after catching him with the Uranage, Punk locked in the "Anaconda Vice" and Tanaka quickly tapped out. "THIS FIRE BURNS" BLARED OVER THE LOUDSPEAKERS AND PUNK CELEBRATED HIS WIN WITH THE CROWD BEFORE UPRISING CAME TO THE CLOSE. PRIMETIME GOES LIVE
*THIS EDITION OF RESULTS WILL BE CONDENSED*
"RAP SUPERSTAR" PLAYS AND PRIMETIME OPENS UP WITH IT's MONTAGE VIDEO BEFORE THE DELTA CENTER IS SHOWN AND MICHAEL COLE OPENS THINGS UP ALONG WITH JESSE VENTURA, AMIDST THE THOUSANDS OF SCREAMING TWF FANS. THE LIGHTS GO OUT AND A RED HAZE COMES OVER THE CROWD AS KEVIN THORN AND ARIEL MAKE THEIR WAY TO THE RING. BOTH ARE DRESSED IN THEIR USUAL GOTHIC, VAMPIRE ATTIRE AND THORN IS CARRYING AN UNUSUAL WALKING STICK. King of the Ring 1st Round Kevin Thorn w/ Ariel vs. Ultimo Dragon It looked like Thorn was going to run right over the much smaller Ultimo Dragon, pounding him with a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker and a heavy clothesline in the corner. But when he went for a gutwrench suplex, Ultimo escaped and caught him with a jumping spin kick to the face followed by a basement dropkick. Thorn got up and missed with a clothesline, allowing Ultimo to spring off the middle ring rope and catch him with a flying calf kick. A concerned Ariel got up on the apron, holding the walking stick but when she swung it, the Dragon caught it, only to have Thorn come from behind with a heavy shot to the back of the head. Thorn then picked Ultimo up for his Crucifix Powerbomb but Ultimo was able to free one of his arms and counter with a quick rollup and referee Chris Kay issued the quick 3 count and Ultimo stole one. Ultimo left to plenty of cheers but Thorn had a very evil look on his face in the ring. Match Time: 4:48 BACKSTAGE.... SHANE McMAHON's OFFICE..... CAMERAS GO TO SHANE's OFFICE, TO FIND HIM WITH RANDY ORTON AND THE BLOOD BROTHERS. Randy Orton: "Let's get to the point Shane, I don't have time for this, I have...... Shane McMahon: "You have what? See, I know you guys think that since you won that six man tag team match last week, you don't have anything to worry about now. Well, you're wrong. Kash, O'Haire, you guys may never have to defend those tag team titles of yours against Strife and Bahamut, but you will be in the ring at King of the Ring, against a team from Rampage...... the Hardy Boyz! And Orton, the stipulation said that by winning that match, you could never lose the Universal title to Taz, but that didn't mean you'd never have to face him. So tonight, in that very ring, you will go one on one with Taz...... sorry to spoil your party plans boys". Randy Orton, Sean O'Haire and Dustin Kash leave the office, obviously unhappy about the decision. COMMERCIAL BREAK....... RETURN FROM BREAK..... RINGSIDE..... Carney vs. Bill Cutting Carney came out to "Loose" by Eminem and a huge pop from the crowd to face a man who demanded to be his first opponent. It had been years since Carney competed on PrimeTime, but he looked like he hadn't missed a beat, scoring with everything against Cutting. After a corkscrew attack off the top rope got him a 2 count, Carney went for the "C-Drive" but Cutting had it well scouted, countering into a backdrop suplex. Cutting then went to his gameplan, pounding Carney on the mat and working on his lower back. But off an irish whip, Cutting missed with a back elbow and when he went for a leapfrog, Carney stopped his momentum and punched him in the gut before hitting an impressive hurracanrana. Carney then actually hit Cutting with his own H-Bomb manuever before connecting with the C-Drive and hooking the leg for the win. Match Time: 7:47 BACKSTAGE....... THE BLOOD BROTHERS ARE SHOWN BACKSTAGE. Dustin Kash: "This is unbelievable man, I thought we'd taken care of those punk ass Hardy Boyz.... now we've got to face them at King of the Ring"?! Sean O'Haire: "Don't worry about the Hardy sisters man, they ain't....... JUST THEN, A MAN WALKS UP WITH A BOX. Man: "Uh, I was told to give this to you guys". O'Haire: "What is it"? KASH GRABS THE BOX AND OPENS IT UP BEFORE ANGRILY THROWING IT AND IT's CONTENTS AGAINST A NEARBY WALL. KASH AND O'HAIRE WALK AWAY AS PLENTY OF LIVE WORMS BEGIN TO CRAWL OUT OF THE BOX. King of the Ring 1st Round Finlay vs. Psychosis With a spot in the semi-finals on the line, these two went after it. Finlay brought his shillelagh to the ring but Psychosis got the jump on him, attacking him from behind when he went to set it down. Off an irish whip, Psychosis connected with a flying wheel kick and made a quick cover but Finlay was up at 2. After hitting the ropes, Psychosis caught a knee in the gut and Finlay then hit the ropes himself, kicking him right in the head. Finlay's rugged style then wore the luchador down and led to the "Celtic Cross" which finished him off. Match Time: 5:30 COMMERCIAL BREAK....... RETURN FROM BREAK...... BACKSTAGE...... WHEN PRIMETIME RETURNS, CAMERAS PICK UP A HEATED CONVERSATION BETWEEN GREGORY HELMS AND DAIVARI. Daivari: "I don't care what happened on Uprising last week..... I'm still the champ"! Gregory Helms: "Yeah well next week, Shane McMahon has signed the match, me against you for the title and I will finally get my chance to prove that I am the greatest lightheavyweight in the world"! JUST THEN, CARNEY WALKS UP AND LOOKS AT BOTH MEN. Carney: "So I just heard about your title match next week. But it doesn't matter who wins, because whoever does, will have to watch out for me". HELMS AND DAIVARI STEP UP AND STAND NEXT TO EACH OTHER, ALMOST IN UNION AS CARNEY WALKS OFF. King of the Ring 1st Round Johnny Nitro vs. Eddie Saint James w/ Monica This was a great match that went back and forth throughout. After catching Saint James with a running forearm and his breakdance legdrop, Nitro seemed intent on impressing Monica, who would only give him dirty looks. After a floatover suplex got him a 2 count, Nitro went to the top rope, but missed everything with a corkscrew moonsault. Revived, The Saint got up and beat Nitro into the corner with both punches and kicks. The Saint shot Nitro to the corner and followed in but Nitro moved out of the way and he drove his own shoulder into the steel post. From there, Nitro delivered a nasty tornado DDT and hooked the leg for the 1........2........, but Saint James got a shoulder off the mat just in time. Thinking a second tornado DDT would do the trick, Nitro went for the move again but The Saint countered and tossed him across the ring. Nitro landed on his feet and ran at him with a clothesline but The Saint avoided it and got him up for the "Death to Humanity", dropping him right on his head to get the 3 count and a huge victory, possibly the biggest of his young career. Match Time: 7:43 BACKSTAGE........ JORDAN ROCKWELL IS SHOWN IN THE BACK, DOING SOME SHADOW BOXING IN PREPARATION FOR HIS MATCH LATER. JUST THEN, SHANE THOMPSON AND ALEX SHELLEY COME UP. Shane Thompson: "Well, well, well, if it isn't my arch rival Jordan Rockwell, the man I face in a Lumberjack match tonight. But ya know, Jordan, should we lose this match to Cena and Hazard, ya know, the Loser Leaves Town, at least you can breathe easy knowing the stipulation that you can never win the Universal title as long as I have it will be gone". Jordan Rockwell: "Ya know, Shane, I wish you did have the Universal title one more time so you could show some balls and let me beat you for it...... but I won't be upset to see you go either". ROCKWELL WALKS OFF AS THE SHOT GOES BACK TO THE RING. Non-Title Match Taz vs. Universal Champion Randy Orton It was time for one of the night's feature bouts as the Universal champion Orton took on Taz, who was still undefeated in singles competition. For much of the match, Taz made Orton realize how lucky he is that he'll never have to defend the title against him, delivering a barrage of suplexes. After a stiff clothesline, Taz stood over Orton, who was on his hands and knees and just blasted him with swinging shots to each side of the head. But after pulling Orton up, Taz had his eyes raked and Orton then shived Taz towards referee Charles Robinson. Orton threw a dropkick and it struck Robinson when Taz moved! Taz then hit a release german suplex on Orton and probably had him beat but from the back came Edge, carrying a steel chair. Taz turned around and Edge wrapped the chair around his head! He then slid out of the ring and helped Robinson to his senses as Orton delivered the "RKO" to the man from the streets of Brooklyn and he hooked the leg for the 1.......2.........3! "BURN IN MY LIGHT" BY MERCY DRIVE AND THE FANS BOOED INCREDIBLY LOUD AS ORTON RAISED HIS TITLE UP, CELEBRATING HANDING TAZ HIS FIRST TWF DEFEAT. COMMERCIAL BREAK....... RETURN FROM BREAK........ RAMPAGE REPLAY SHOWS MUHAMMAD HASSAN's INAUGURATION SPEECH FOLLOWED BY SCENES OF HIS MEETINGS WITH MONEY MIKE, ROB STORM AND CARLITO. FROM THERE, IT SHOWS BATISTA TELLING TRAVIS WAKEMAN THAT SOMEONE NEEDED TO DO SOMETHING TO REVOLT AGAINST HASSAN's REFORMED RAMPAGE BEFORE THEY INTERRUPTED THE END OF THE SHOW, TAKING OUT THE BASHAMS WHO HAD JUST DEFEATED CARLITO IN A HANDICAP MATCH. King of the Ring 1st Round Chris Masters vs. Paul London It was the last match in the first round of the tournament and it was the classic battle of speed and agililty versus size and power. Masters started the match on the offensive, taking it to the former Lightheavyweight champion. After shooting him to the ropes, London slung himself over Masters but Masters turned around with his swinging Polish Hammer manuever and he covered him for the 1........2......., but London got his foot on the bottom rope to prevent the 3 count. Masters stayed on him, trying to finish him off. But off an irish whip, he missed with a clothesline and London scored with the dropsault. A missile dropkick off the middle turnbuckle knocked The Masterpiece off his feet and London then went to the top rope, looking possibly for the 450 splash. But Masters got to his feet and London flew off with a clothesline. He then tried to catch Masters with his dragon suplex but that was a mistake, a big mistake. Masters blocked it and caught London right in the mouth with a back elbow before using a standing switch right into the "Masterlock". London did all he could to find it, but soon, Masters was shaking him like a rag doll and that was all London could take. Match Time: 7:19 BACKSTAGE AREA...... RANDY ORTON IS SHOWN IN THE BACK WHEN EDGE COMES UP. Randy Orton: "Hey man.... that was nice"! ORTON SLAPS HANDS WITH EDGE, WHO LIFTS UP A STEEL CHAIR CONTAINING A HUGE DENT. Edge: "That was a nice plan is what it was! Ya see that dent? That's where this thing made contact with Taz's ugly head! But I'll catch up with ya later..... I've got one more thing to do tonight". Lumberjack Match Shane Thompson vs. Jordan Rockwell Just about every superstar on PrimeTime had come from the back to be lumberjacks and it didn't seem that Thompson had many allies, other than Alex Shelley, who was filming the whole thing. John Cena, Johnny Hazard, Bobby Lashley and many others all got their shots in on the 3 times Thompson was thrown out of the ring. But Thompson hung tough, fending off Rockwell and after a superkick, he caught a Singapore cane from his friend Shelley and then busted it over Rockwell's head. A cover was made but Rockwell got his shoulder up at 2. Shelley then got into the ring, looking to help his partner, but John Cena and Johnny Hazard came in and quickly took him out with a double clothesline. Rockwell then grabbed Thompson and dropped him on his head with his old Killswitch move and hooked the leg for the 1........2............3. Match Time: 5:15 But after the match, Edge came out and with the same chair, cracked Lashley in the back of the head, returning the favor from last week! Edge wanted to do more damage but a few of the lumberjacks came to defend Lashley, namely The Highlanders and Super Crazy. But in the ring, Rockwell's celebration was cut short when he was ambushed from behind by Axl Irvin, who hadn't been seen all night! Traci Brooks got into the ring and dumped a black bag, spreading thumbs tacks all over the mat! Axl then lifted Rockwell up and just threw him right onto the pile of tacks. The fans couldn't believe it as Rockwell had tacks coming out of his back, arms, legs and even his head! It was symbolic, due to the fact that it will be nails at King of the Ring. Axl and Traci stood over Rockwell, proud of their handywork as the shot faded out. OFF AIR.........
