The last time the stars of PrimeTime were in Memphis was as part of the Road to WrestleMania tour last year and on their return, things were shaping up for the 2007 Royal Rumble. Royal Rumble Qualifying Match Super Crazy vs. Snitsky Their was a major size discrepancy here but Super Crazy made the most of his oppurtunity, dizzying the big man with his speed and agility. Crazy came off the top rope with a missile dropkick that got him a 2 count but after getting up, he ran at Snitsky who just erased him with a big boot to the face to get the pin. Royal Rumble Qualifying Match Carney vs. Bill Cutting With spots in the Royal Rumble harder than ever to come by, these two went almost 9 minutes full throttle. Carney had the upper hand early but chose not to go for the cover after the "C-Drive" and he missed everything when he went for the Carney Bomb. Cutting took advantage, smashing Carney with right hands and kicks to the head and body while he was on his knees. After a big swinging neckbreaker, Cutting went for the "H-Bomb" but somehow, Carney was able to turn it into a pinning predicament to get the win! Strife vs. Chaos Wolf Uprising's main event featured the 7 foot Strife taking on Chaos Wolf, who has proven over the years that he will do whatever it takes to win. Strife was all over Wolf from the opening bell, just way too powerful for him to handle. But as he set him up for the Derailer, Vlad the Impaler made his way out to the ring to provide enough distraction. Bahamut came out to even the odds and he and Vlad traded shots at ringside. This had the referee's attention though and Strife ran in at Wolf who was in the corner. But Wolf moved out of the way and Strife came in contact with the turnbuckle which Wolf had removed the pad from. Wol then got behind the Locomotive and rolled him up for a 3 count and a huge upset. BAHAMUT CAME IN TO CHECK ON HIS PARTNER AS CHAOS WOLF AND VLAD LEFT WITH THE WIN, BEING BOOED BY THE FANS. PRIMETIME GOES LIVE
*DUE TO TIME CONSTRAINTS, THIS EDITION OF RESULTS WILL BE CONDENSED*
AS PRIMETIME COMES ON THE AIR, CLIPS FROM ALL 3 "BEAT THE CLOCK" MATCHES ARE SHOWN FROM LAST WEEK, WITH RANDY ORTON THE EVENTUAL WINNER. A SOUNDBYTE HAS MICHAEL COLE ASKING "WHAT STIPULATION WILL ORTON ADD TO THE TRIPLE THREAT MATCH AT THE RUMBLE"?
THE SHOT THEN OPENS INSIDE THE PYRAMID AND THE PANNING CAMERA GETS SHOTS OF SEVERAL TWF FANS. MICHAEL COLES AND JBL OPEN UP THE SHOW AS CHRIS MASTERS' MUSIC HITS AND HE COMES OUT AS BOOS FILL THE ARENA. TWF Intercontinental Title Match Challenger: Chris Masters vs. Bobby Lashley Very few TWF superstars can match strength with the Masterpiece, but Lashley is definitely one of them. Masters tried to shove the champion around to start the match, but that did nothing but backfire. After fighting off a quick attempt at the "Masterlock", Lashley hit 3 straight clotheslines which got the juices flowing. After a delay vertical suplex, he hoisted Masters up and delivered a running powerslam before drilling him with a spear to get the 3 count in a match Lashley completely dominated. Match Time: 5:06 COMMERCIAL BREAK....... RETURN FROM BREAK..... BACKSTAGE....... AS PRIMETIME RETURNS, AXL IRVIN AND TRACI BROOKS ARE SHOWN IN THE BACK WHEN CHAOS WOLF AND VLAD THE IMPALER COME UP. Chaos Wolf: "Axl...... you got Rockwell tonight, right"? Axl Irvin: "Yeah, what's it to you"? Vlad the Impaler: "We thought we might come and offer you our..... services". Axl: "And what services might those be"? Chaos Wolf: "Let's just say that if you accept, it'll give you a clear advantage over Mister Franchise". Axl: "I like the sound of that. What do you two want for payment"? CHAOS WOLF BEGINS TO EYE TRACI UP AND DOWN. Axl: "Oh no.... I don't think so". Vlad: "All we really want is to get our hands on Rockwell". THE SHOT GOES BACK TO THE RING AFTER IT SEEMS AXL HAS MADE A DEAL WITH CHAOS AND VLAD. Sean O'Haire vs. Robbie McCallister In a preview of the tag team title match at the Royal Rumble, Sean O'Haire came in clearly thinking he would wipe the mat with Highlander Robbie. But O'Haire, one of the more successful TWF superstars ever, had plenty of trouble with the gritty Robbie. After taking some of O'Haire's stiff martial arts kicks, Robbie fought back behind the cheers of the crowd. After O'Haire missed with a spinning roundhouse, Robbie picked him up and delivered a spinebuster which brought Dustin Kash out. Referee Charles Robinson got in the face of Kash, who was on the apron, demanding he leave the ring. Suddenly, Snitsky came from out of the crowd and got in the ring, drilling Robbie with a running boot to the face. O'Haire covered Robbie as Robinson turned to make the 3 count. The Blood Brothers left the ring with Snitsky as Rory McCallister came out to check on his cousin while Michael Cole could only ask what the relationship between those 3 men is. Match Time: 10:42 PJ CASH WALKS ONTO A SCREEN, STANDING IN A COMPLETELY WHITE ROOM. HE IS HOLDING A SHEET OF PAPER. PJ Cash: "What I have here is research I have done on the superstars here of PrimeTime and what I found, well is just ridiculous. None of these guys, not one of them, has any stock options. Not one of them is utilizing their TWF salaries' the way that they should be. So how smart can these guys be? That is why I have entered the 2007 Royal Rumble, where I will show these clowns what someone with the financial accumen and physical ability combined, can do in that ring. CASH STARTS TO WALK AWAY BUT LOOKS BACK OVER HIS SHOULDER. See you there". The arena lights suddenly dim, as the audience sits and wonders what is going on.
A spotlight fills the ring, highlighting a black stool and microphone, Suddenly 'Firefly' by Breaking Benjamin hits, and out steps Chris Platoon, on to center stage, the crowd boos, as Platoon taunts the audience and poses.. He finally makes it in the ring, his music fading out and Platoon raises the mic to his lips.
Chris Platoon: "At War in the Winter, you all saw what happened. In fact, let's take you back right now and show you what happened when I requested Flair to come down to the ring."
A video package airs, showing Arn Anderson explaining that Ric Flair cannot be just turning up, because Platoon requests. It ends with Platoon snapping and bloodying Anderson with a microphone.
Platoon: "Three times I asked my mentor and part trainer to come down here, and meet me in the ring! Did he once show up? No! He is too busy to take time out of his adultering life, to come and see a good friend of his!"
JBL: "He's right Michael. Even though Flair didn't show up, Platoon is starting to make some sense."
Platoon: "I am sick and tired of it. All I wanted was ONE match with Flair, in fact it was supposed to be a surprise request for WrestleMania! But, we've blown that now, the stupid feeble man sends his good old buddy Arn down here, to try and reason with me. Do you wanna know why I bloodied him?
I am sick and TIRED of being pushed to the back of the line by everyone here! I am one of the best damn athletes you'll ever meet! Five time former Heavyweight Champion across America. Nobody shows me any respect! And, all I get from you people is the same old cheap pop. I have had enough, of losing match after match and sacrificing myself in this ring, for your entertainment! I had cancer!
Cole: "We know what happened to you Platoon. Stop living off of it, you're here now aren't you? Stop getting all bitter about it!"
Platoon: "Tonight marks the time for someone new. From now on, I guaran-damn-tee, a new and focused Platoon. It's not about you guys out there anymore... it's all about ME! And, quite frankly, if no one likes it - just you TRY and stop me! If you wanna end up like Arn Anderson, face me, and find out what a sadistic bastard I can really be! The dawn of a new era has begun...."
Platoon's face expresses pure emotion and a sourness to it, as he brings down the microphone, his music blaring through the arena, to a chorus of boos from the crowd. JUST THEN, "OOOOH CHAVO" IS HEARD AND CHAVO GUERRERO COMES OUT TO A GOOD CHEER, READY FOR ACTION, AS IS PLATOON. Chris Platoon vs. Chavo Guerrero Platoon attacked Chavo right as he got in the ring, showing a real mean streak as he took it to him. After shooting him to the corner, he slammed into him with a clothesline before loading him up for a piledriver. But Chavo was able to counter with a backdrop and a fire was lit inside him. After back to back dropkicks, Chavo hit the ropes and drilled Platoon with a running forearm. Moments later, he delivered a brainbuster drop suplex before going to the top rope. After pounding his chest and pointing to the sky, Chavo flew off with the Frog Splash and it looked like it was going to connect but Platoon got his knees up at the last moment and Chavo was in an incredible amount of pain. Platoon then got up and delivered the "Last Chance" to get the win. Match Time: 7:06 Just as the match ended, "WOOOOO" WAS HEARD, FOLLOWED BY RIC FLAIR's MUSIC AND THE CROWD WAS JUST GOING NUTS AS FLAIR CAME OUT, RIPPING OFF HIS SPORT COAT AS HE RAN TO THE RING. FLAIR SLID INTO THE RING BUT PLATOON WAS WAITING FOR HIM, PUTTING THE BOOTS TO HIM. BUT FLAIR RESPONDED BY GRABBING HIM IN THE CROTCH AREA BEFORE FIRING BACK WITH 3 STIFF KNIFEDGE CHOPS. THE TWO MEN TRADED SHOTS AND WERE AT EACH OTHER's THROATS UNTIL OFFICIALS FROM THE BACK AND A FEW MORE REFEREE's RAN OUT TO PULL THEM APART. COMMERCIAL BREAK......... RETURN FROM BREAK.... RINGSIDE..... Royal Rumble Qualifying Match Gangrel vs. Johnny Hazard Hazard ran into a lot of trouble in this match as Gangrel was on top of his game. After a side russian leg sweep, Gangrel floated over into a cover to nearly steal the match. But Hazard was worn down by being whipped to the corners and Gangrel punished him with his hands and feet. After a boot to the head, Gangrel got a running start and drove a knee into the side of Hazard's head. Hazard looked out on his feet as Gangrel pulled him up, looking for the Impaler DDT. But Hazard countered, launching him across the ring before scoring with a flying wheel kick. Hazard then got Gangrel in a mount and blasted him with a fury of right hands. He then went for an irish whip, but Gangrel reversed it, but Hazard made him pay, catching him with the "Toxic Drop" to put him away and advance into the 30 man Royal Rumble. Match Time: 7:07 BACKSTAGE AREA....... MARIA IS SHOWN IN THE BACKSTAGE AREA WITH EDDIE SAINT JAMES AND MONICA. Maria: "Eddie, you just saw Johnny Hazard qualify for the Royal Rumble and now, you have an announcement"? Eddie Saint James: "My announcement is simple, even you can understand this, Maria. As PrimeTime's King of the Ring, I don't have to qualify for the Royal Rumble, so I am declaring my entry and now, with Johnny in there, can you imagine what kind of damage we can do"? Monica: "Oh yeah". TWF RE-WIND SHOWS ARIEL DEFEATING DAWN MARIE LAST WEEK, BLOODYING HER NOSE IN THE PROCESS. First Blood Match Rene Dupree vs. Kevin Thorn w/ Ariel For whatever reason, Dawn Marie did not accompany Dupree to the ring for this match, but he didn't allow Thorn to do what he did in the dressing room last week. Dupree broke Thorn down with a balanced attack, even performing his 'French Tickler' dance at one point. But from the mat, Thorn grabbed him by the throat before pushing him over the top rope to the floor. Thorn went out and removed the top half of the ring steps but Dupree reached into his tights and after avoiding the steps, he punched Thorn in the face, covering him with blood. Dupree was declared the winner until Ariel pointed something out to referee Mike Enos, who restarted the match when it was revealed the blood was fake, Dupree hit him with a packet of fake blood. As Dupree argued with Enos, Thorn came from behind and threw him into the half of the steps that were still there. He then took his walking stick and cracked it over his head, busting him open to end the match. Thorn and Ariel celebrated the win, as only they can. Match Time: 8:16 COMMERCIAL BREAK...... RETURN FROM BREAK.... BACKSTAGE..... CAMERAS SHOW RANDY ORTON AND EDGE IN THE BACK. Edge: "So, do you have a stipulation picked out yet"? Randy Orton: "Well, I've got a few that I've narrowed it down to. I just want something...... something that shows the world that I'm better than both Rockwell and Axl Irvin". Edge: "Well I've been thinkin' too man, and what about a ladder match"? Orton: "Yeah.... that's not a bad idea. I gotta run though man, I'll catch up with ya later man". Edge (to himself): "Yeah.... not a bad idea at all". Taz and CM Punk vs. Johnny Nitro and Finlay This quickly broke down and turned into a brawl with all 4 men in the ring. But Taz and Punk clearly looked like the superior team. After Taz hit one of his trademark Taz-plexes on Finlay, Finlay rolled out of the ring as Punk caught Nitro with a running knee in the corner. Punk fought to lock in the Anaconda Vice but referee Mickey Henson stepped in to pull Punk off as Nitro and Finlay were the legal men in the match. But as he did, Nitro saw an opening, grabbing Finlay's shillelagh and smacking Taz over the head with it. Finlay then got back in the ring and covered Taz for the pin. Match Time: 5:01 BACKSTAGE...... MARIA IS STANDING IN THE BACK WITH RANDY ORTON. Maria: "Randy, you've told me you have selected the stipulation for your match at WrestleMania, are you ready to share that with everyone else"? Randy Orton: "Yes, Maria, I am. At the Royal Rumble, our match will now be a ladder match, an idea my good friend Edge gave me". Maria: "Well up next, Jordan Rockwell faces Axl Irvin. Are you pulling for a winner"? Orton: "I'm pulling for them to beat the hell out of each other so that at the Rumble, I just have to pick up the pieces to get what belongs to me.... back"! Non-Title Match Jordan Rockwell vs. Universal Champion Axl Irvin w/ Traci Brooks The main event was the latest installment in this intense rivalry. Axl came out on the offensive, hitting Rockwell with a slew of right hands before delivering an impactful jumping shoulderbreaker. Axl tried to take advantage by locking in a reverse armbar, but Rockwell was able to get to the ropes to earn a break. Axl pulled him up but Rockwell came back with a european uppercut before whipping him to the ropes for a backbody drop. The crowd was back into it, and Rockwell had the champion reeling after hitting the Extreme Measures. But before he could get the 3 count, Traci put Axl's foot on the bottom rope. Referee Mike Chioda looked like he was going to send Traci to the back, but Chaos Wolf and Vlad the Impaler came out, just as they said they would. Vlad got on the apron on one side but Rockwell ran and knocked him off with a forearm. He then tossed Axl right into Wolf, who was on the apron on the other side, and they both went to the arena floor. Axl got back up on the apron and Rockwell went to suplex him in, but Wolf tripped him up and Axl landed on top. Wolf then held the feet of Rockwell down, ducking down behind the apron so as not to be seen, and making a kick out impossible as Chioda registered the 3 count. Match Time: 8:43 "LIT UP" BY BUCKCHERRY PLAYED AND AXL CELEBRATED THE WIN WITH CHAOS WOLF AND VLAD THE IMPALER WHEN "HERE COMES THE MONEY" CAME ON AND SHANE McMAHON INTERRUPTED THE VICTORY CELEBRATION. Shane McMahon: "Nice win Axl, even though you had to cheat to do it. But since you seem to have made some new allies, I've come up with an idea. Next week on PrimeTime, you, Randy Orton and Jordan Rockwell will all have to select a tag team partner, any guy you want, for a triple threat tag team match"! OFF AIR.......
