July 31, 2007
After 3 trips to Florida in '06, this was the first time the stars of PrimeTime were in the Sunshine state in 2007, and the first time a PrimeTime event was ran in Ft. Lauderdale since May of 2004. PJ Cash vs. Glen Ruth (invitee) PJ Cash opened the show with a promo, talking about what a sad state Ft. Lauderdale was in economically. The fans booed him as he said someone like himself could instantly change the city, but he wouldn't do it because everybody looked like they were inbred. He then turned his focus to his opponent, Glen Ruth, who many may remember as Headbanger Thrasher. Cash was able to back up his strong words, taking it to the ring veteran. Ruth didn't get much offense in and after being whipped to the corner, he was blasted with a jumping enziguri from the very athletic Cash. Moments later, Cash connected with the devastating "Cash Register" for the convincing win. Deuce and Domino w/ Cherry vs. Mark Canterbury and Dennis Knight (invitees) Deuce and Domino took on the team formerly known as The Godwinns. Knight also competed in the TWF several years ago as Mideon. But neither of them seemed ready for the surprise attack to start the match by the greasers. Deuce and Domino took turns taking it to Canterbury, working on his neck, which was once surgically repaired. But Canterbury missed Domino charging into the corner and made it to his corner to tag Knight as Domino went shoulder first into the steel ring post. After an atomic drop, Knight hit the ropes for a big clothesline. But he hit the ropes again and Deuce drove a hard knee into his back. That allowed Domino to get up and deliver a big jumping DDT. After knocking Canterbury off the apron with a cheap shot, Domino made the tag to Deuce who hit the ropes and kicked Knight right in the face, also known as the "Crack in the Mouth". Domino then topped Knight, hooking the leg for the 3 count. Daivari vs. Chavo Guerrero Uprising's main event was a good one inside the Lightheavyweight division. Daivari and Chavo exchanged several big moves in a fast paced battle, but after a kick that was a little low, Daivari delivered a swinging neckbreaker that put him in firm control of the match. After setting Chavo up on the top rope, he kicked him right in the back before pulling him down into the tree of woe. But when the former Lightheavyweight champion went for a sliding dropkick, Chavo used his upper body strength to pull himself out of the predicament and Daivari went crotch first into the steel post! As Daivari rolled around on the mat in pain, Chavo came off the top rope with the move his Uncle made famous.... the Frog Splash! He hooked the leg for the 1........2.......3. THE FANS CELEBRATED ALONG WITH THE VICTORIOUS CHAVO AS THE STAGE CREW GOT THINGS SET UP FOR PRIMETIME. PRIMETIME GOES LIVE
*DUE TO TIME CONSTRAINTS, THIS EDITION OF RESULTS WILL BE CONDENSED* PRIMETIME KICKS OFF WITH IT's OPENING MONTAGE VIDEO, SHOWING EVERY SUPERSTAR OF THE DIVISION, WHILE "RAP SUPERSTAR" PLAYS. THE ARENA THEN COMES INTO THE SHOT AND THE IMPRESSIVE DISPLAY OF OPENING PYRO ILLUMINATES THE ORANGE AND SILVER PRIMETIME RING. MICHAEL COLE AND JBL OPEN THE BROADCAST, WELCOMING THE TELEVISION AUDIENCE AS "MISERIA CANTARE" BY AFI PLAYS AND THE BLOOD BROTHERS COME OUT ALONG WITH KATO AND SONNY ONOO, THROUGH THE ECW ENTRANCE. 6 Man Tag Team Match ECW: The Blood Brothers and Kato w/ Sonny Onoo vs. The Highlanders and Super Crazy ECW started the night off strong against a threesome with some Scottish and Mexican flavor. Early in the match, The Highlanders were able to get some shots in on Dustin Kash, and after they combined to take him down with a battering ram, they got him up for the "Scot Drop" but Sean O'Haire came into the ring and kicked Rory McCallister across the midsection. The tag was then made to the silent assassin Kato and he came in, using kicks and a nerve hold right on the carotid artery of Rory. Rory was able to get to his feet and after driving 3 elbows into the midsection of Kato, he ran the ropes but Kato smoked him with a savat kick right in the chops. But Super Crazy had made a blind tag and he came in and was all over Kato. After a sitout spinebuster, Super Crazy looked outside the ring where the Highlanders and Blood Brothers were brawling. He then scaled the ropes and came off with an asai moonsault that took out all four men! Kato was still down in the ring and Crazy slowly made his way to the top rope. But Kato got up and knocked Crazy down with a roundhouse kick to the ribs. He then nailed a reverse tornado DDT and Super Crazy's head bounced off the mat. He grabbed his head with both hands but Kato covered him and hooked the leg for the 3 count. Match Time: 6:04 COMMERCIAL BREAK........ RETURN FROM BREAK..... BACKSTAGE AREA..... WHEN PRIMETIME RETURNS, THE BLOOD BROTHERS AND KATO SEEM VERY HAPPY ABOUT THEIR VICTORY BUT THEY GET VERY SERIOUS WHEN DUSTIN KASH NOTICES CARDBOARD STANDUPS OF BOTH JORDAN ROCKWELL AND SHAWN MICHAELS SET UP RIGHT BY THEIR DRESSING ROOM DOOR. KASH AND SEAN O'HAIRE EACH GRAB THEIR MARTIAL ARTS STAFFS AND BEAT THE LIFELIKE STANDUPS, BREAKING THEM INTO PIECES. AS THE ECW CONTINGENT GOES INTO THEIR DRESSING ROOM, THE CAMERA GETS A CLOSE UP OF WHAT IS LEFT OF THE STANDUPS. Umaga w/ Armando Alejandro Estrada vs. Rick Fuller (invitee) Umaga was in the ring with a man who stood over 6 feet tall and weighed over 300 pounds- and he handled him like a small child. After a swinging sideslam, Umaga came off the middle turnbuckle with a big headbutt before pulling the overwhelmed Fuller into the corner before charging in and slamming his posterior right into Fuller's head. After watching Estrada snap a Cuban cigar in two, Umaga picked Fuller up and put him right back down with the "Samoan Spike" for a statement win. Match Time: 4:02 BACKSTAGE....... IN THE BACK, MARIA IS STANDING BY WITH BOBBY LASHLEY. Maria: "Bobby, you have a match coming up in a minute, but you asked for this time. Did you just want to come see your favorite interview girl"? Bobby Lashley: "Heh, actually Maria, I asked for this time so I could send a little message to the ECW World champion, Joe Corey. LASHLEY STARES RIGHT INTO THE CAMERA Corey..... I don't have anything to do at MeltDown, and so far, neither do you. So how about you and me for that ECW World title? You wanna attack me backstage? Let's see what you're willing to do when I know you're coming". LASHLEY WALKS OFF IN THE DIRECTION OF THE RING. Gangrel vs. Bobby Lashley Gangrel broke a collar and elbow tie with a rake of the eyes, but that was about his only offensive move. After going for a clothesline and missing, Lashley lifted him over his head with a military press and slammed him to the mat. Following a heavy clothesline, Lashley picked Gangrel up and whipped him to the corner for another huge clothesline. He then hoisted him up onto his shoulder and ran across the ring, powerslamming him into the mat. Feeding off the energy of the crowd, Lashley got down in a 3 point stance and when Gangrel got up, he drilled him with an incredible spear, hooking the leg for the very emphatic win. Match Time: 2:40 LASHLEY ASKED FOR HOWARD FINKEL's MICROPHONE AND GOT IT. Bobby Lashley: "What's it gonna be, Corey?! I got all night! So I will........ JUST THEN, LASHLEY WAS ATTACKED FROM BEHIND BY THE BLOOD BROTHERS AND KATO. DUSTIN KASH AND SEAN O'HAIRE WERE USING THEIR FIGHTING STAFFS AND KATO THEN LANDED A BIG SUPERKICK. WITH LASHLEY COMPLETELY INCAPACITATED, JOE COREY CAME TO THE RING TO A TON OF HEAT. COREY GOT IN AND DROPPED HIS TITLE BELT TO THE MAT BEFORE PICKING UP THE MICROPHONE THAT LASHLEY WAS USING. Joe Corey: "Lashley..... you don't just go and challenge the ECW champion... who the hell do you think you are?! WITH THAT, COREY SLAPS LASHLEY HARD ACROSS THE FACE AS THE REST OF ECW HOLDS HIM UP. But I'll tell ya what, I'll gladly accept your challenge, because I'd love to beat you on a huge stage like MeltDown. We just have one problem....... I doubt you'll make it there"! COREY DROPS THE MICROPHONE AND PULLS LASHLEY IN, DRIVING HIM INTO THE MAT WITH THE "SHOWSTOPPER". LASHLEY IS LEFT LAYING AS "MISERIA CANTARE" PLAYS AND ECW LEAVES TO SOME SERIOUS BOOS. COMMERCIAL BREAK.......... RETURN FROM BREAK... RINGSIDE..... Jeff Hardy w/ Matt Hardy vs. Bill Cutting w/ Gregory Helms Cutting and Jeff Hardy locked up and exchanged arm drags but after reversing an irish whip to the corner, Jeff flew in with the one man Poetry in Motion on Cutting before coming off the middle turnbuckle with a senton bomb. He made the cover, but Cutting was up at 2. Jeff then grabbed both his legs and flew through with a legdrop across the throat but Helms distracted him by taking a swipe at his right foot. Jeff grabbed the top rope and went feet first through the top and middle rope, dropkicking Helms in the face. Cutting came from behind for a backdrop suplex but Jeff flipped off his shoulder and rolled him up for the 1........2......, but Cutting was up. When Jeff got to his feet, Helms saw referee Mickey Henson arguing with Matt Hardy and he got on the apron, pulling Jeff down throat first on the top rope. Matt saw this and ran around the ring, pulling Helms off before dropping him with a right hand. But in the ring, it looked like Cutting was going to go for his own version of the Twist of Fate. But before he could deliver it, Jeff tripped Cutting up and used his legs to flip over into a bridged pin and he got the 3 count. Match Time: 3:42 BACKSTAGE...... IN THE BACK, GABRIEL CROSS IS SHOWN HAVING A CONVERSATION WITH PAUL LONDON AND BRIAN KENDRICK WHEN ARMANDO ALEJANDRO ESTRADA COMES UP. Armando Alejandro Estrada: "Hola amigo..... did ju just see what Umaga did out there"? Gabriel Cross: "Yeah I did, pretty impressive". Estrada: "What you did by challenging my Samoan Bulldozer last week was..... como se dice...... suicide". Cross: "Really? That's riveting stuff, Armando, if that is your real name. But you tell Umaga..... that he better be ready.... cause the fight is still on". ESTRADA LOOKS AT CROSS AND LAUGHS BEFORE WALKING AWAY. "THE TIME IS NOW" HITS AND JOHN CENA COMES OUT TO A VERY GOOD REACTION WITH THE UNIVERSAL TITLE IN HAND. Michael Cole: "Listen to this, JBL..... the champ is here"! JBL: "John Cena told me today that he was gonna come out here and address this Universal title situation and it looks like that's what he's out here to do"! CENA GETS INTO THE RING AND IS HANDED A MICROPHONE. A MIXTURE OF CHEERS AND BOOS IS HEARD. John Cena: "Thank you for that warm..... and cold.... Fort Lauderdale response. But let's move on, because tonight, I'm out here to talk about more important things. CENA UNFASTENS THE TWF UNIVERSAL TITLE FROM AROUND HIS WAIST AND HOLDS IT IN HIS LEFT HAND. Last week, I gave two guys a chance to earn a shot to face me for this. Now, they didn't quite get to the ring to do that and according to Shane McMahon, a man I respect very much, don't get me wrong, Bobby Lashley and Joe Corey threw their shot at a match with me away. So I was left to ask myself, who......... SUDDENLY, A FAMILIAR TUNE HITS AND THE CROWD COMES TO THEIR FEET IN APPLAUSE AS RIC FLAIR MAKES HIS WAY DOWN THE AISLE AND TO THE RING. Cole: "What the heck is this?! The Nature Boy is here in Fort Lauderdale"! JBL: "Ask no more, Cena, I think you just found your challenger"! FLAIR GETS INTO THE RING AND ASKS FOR THE MICROPHONE, WHICH CENA GIVES HIM. Ric Flair: "John, I was watching a couple weeks ago when you told Bobby Lashley that you wanted to tear the house down at MeltDown. And I was watching last week when Shane McMahon told you that a challenger would emerge for your Universal title. John, you know that before I leave this business, I want to style and profile one more time..... wooooooo! And, even you have to admit, I'm partially responsible for you getting that title back. CENA NODS HIS HEAD IN AGREEMENT. So, I am out here asking you, for a chance at the Universal title at MeltDown". Cole: "Wow..... this is somethin'". CENA TAKES THE MIC BACK FROM FLAIR Cena: "Ya know, Ric, as much as I'd hate for it to come at my expense, I would love to see you style and profile one more time. Now, I'm not sayin' I'm gonna let you beat me, because at MeltDown, you'll get my best. But to be perfectly honest with you....... it would be an honor". CENA EXTENDS HIS HAND AND FLAIR SHAKES IT. THE CROWD LET's OUT A HUGE CHEER AS "THE TIME IS NOW" PLAYS AGAIN. JBL: "This is great, Michael! Ric Flair and John Cena at MeltDown and I gotta concur with Cena, I'd love to see the Nature Boy style and profile one more time myself"! Cole: "I don't think there would be very many people against it! No one expected Ric Flair to be the man to get this match...... and I think it's great"! COMMERCIAL BREAK....... RETURN FROM BREAK....RINGSIDE..... Non-Title Match Kenny Doane vs. Lightheavyweight Champion: Carney Carney has been on a heck of a roll as of late, but Kenny Doane was coming off a big win of his own and the two men entertained the crowd with a back and forth, very athletic contest. Carney had the upper hand for the first part of the match and when Doane whipped him to the corner, he scaled the top turnbuckle and flew off with a reverse crossbody block, but Doane put his knees up and fell to the mat with Carney, an impressive counter. Doane then pulled Carney up and slammed him to the mat before going to the top rope and flying off with a legdrop that he got incredible elevation on. But he missed everything when Carney rolled out of the way. After hitting the ropes, Carney connected with a basement dropkick before pulling Doane up and whipping him to the corner. But Doane got a back elbow into Carney before grabbing him and throwing him right into referee Charles Robinson, something that looked completely intentional. It wasn't enough to knock Robinson off his feet, but it gave Doane enough time to kick Carney hard in the groin before delivering a Roll of the Dice neckbreaker, a move he is calling the "Doaneation" to get the 1....2.....3 and upset the Lightheavyweight champion. Match Time: 5:35 ECW DRESSING ROOM BACKSTAGE, ECW IS LAUGHING AND CARRYING ON, VERY HAPPY ABOUT WHAT THEY DID TO BOBBY LASHLEY EARLIER. SUDDENLY, THERE IS A KNOCK ON THE DOOR. DUSTIN KASH GETS UP TO ANSWER IT. A MAN IS STANDING THERE, SHIRTLESS WITH A BLACK BOWTIE ON. Man: "Did someone order Chip N' Dale's"? WITH THAT, THE MAN AND 3 OTHERS DRESSED JUST LIKE HIM, IN BLACK THONGS, ENTER THE ROOM AND SOME DANCE MUSIC BEGINS TO PLAY. Man: "It's your lucky night fellas.... free lap dances"! THE MEN BEGIN TO DANCE AND SPRAY OIL ONTO THEIR BODIES AS ECW PUSHES THEM AWAY. Fatal 4 Way/Number 1 contender for Intercontinental Title Finlay vs. "High Octane" Damion West vs. Rene Dupree w/ Dawn Marie vs. Kevin Thorn w/ Ariel In this match, the first man to score a decision would be the winner. Shortly after the bell sounded, CM Punk came out with his Intercontinental title to observe. High Octane and Finlay went right at it and Thorn and Dupree began trading shots. Each man came close to winning the match on several occasions. But late in the match, Finlay hit High Octane with the "Celtic Cross" and covered him to get the 3 count, but Rene Dupree had rolled up Kevin Thorn and pinned him at the same time. Not quite sure what to do, referee Mike Enos ordered the match be restarted, and Finlay immediately began to argue, even shoving Enos across the ring. But Finlay turned around and High Octane erased him with the "Head on Collision". Finlay rolled out of the ring but High Octane didn't pay any attention to Dawn Marie who was up on the apron and when he went to try and get her off, Dupree came from behind with a backdrop suplex. Dupree then went outside the ring and climbed the turnbuckle, but Ariel came over and grabbed his foot. Dupree tried to shake her off, but Thorn came over and punched him right in the abdomen before positioning him and delivering the "Dark Kiss". He then covered the French Phenom and Enos registered the 3 count. Match Time: 7:18 ARIEL HURRIED INTO THE RING AND JUMPED INTO THORN's ARMS AS HIS MUSIC HIT. HE THEN STARED DOWN AT PUNK BEFORE THE SHOT WENT TO THE BACK. BACKSTAGE.... DRESSING ROOM AREA....... CAMERAS IN THE BACK PICK UP RANDY ORTON AND EDGE, WHO ARE GETTING READY FOR THEIR MATCH. Randy Orton: "Look, all I'm saying is be a little more aware this time, I didn't appreciate getting hit over the head by Shawn Michaels last week". Edge: "Oh, and ya think I did? See, that's the problem, Randy, you try to put everything on me. You're so immature, you can't accept any responsibilty". Orton: "All I know is if we win tonight, we're number one contenders and to win..... it's most likely gonna take an R.....K.....O". ORTON LEAVES THE ROOM. Edge (mocking Orton): "It's most likely gonna take an RKO. Yeah, whatever". THE SHOT FADES OUT AS EDGE LEAVES THE ROOM. COMMERCIAL BREAK................ RETURN FROM BREAK...... RINGSIDE...... #1 contenders for TWF Tag Team Titles Edge and Randy Orton vs. Jordan Rockwell and Shawn Michaels Referee Mike Chioda had his hands full here as this never resembled a tag match, but more like a street fight. All four men went at it and after Rockwell put Orton down with the Scarlet Fever, he and Michaels combined for a double suplex on Edge. Edge rolled out of the ring as Michaels pulled Orton up and held his arms behind his back. But when Rockwell ran the ropes, Edge got up and lowbridged the top rope, sending Rockwell sailing to the floor. Orton then pulled Michaels down across his own back for a nasty backbreaker as Edge dropped Rockwell with a spear. He then got back into the ring, sizing Michaels up for the spear but when he went for it, Michaels leapfrogged and Edge smashed Orton with it! HBK then clotheslined Edge over the top rope and when Orton stumbled to his feet, Michaels put him right back down with the "Sweet Chin Music" before covering him for the 1.........2.........3. Match Time: 5:07 AS "BACK IN BLACK" PLAYED AND THE CROWD LOUDLY POPPED FOR ROCKWELL AND MICHAELS, THE BLOOD BROTHERS CAME OUT AND HELD THEIR TAG TEAM TITLES UP FROM THE TOP OF THE SET.
