St. Pete Times Forum

Tampa, Florida

Attendance: 10,185

February 6, 2008

Fans flocked to the Tampa area for a huge night of PrimeTime action. Several pro-Jordan Rockwell and Shawn Michaels signs were spotted, as fans knew the tag team champs would be in action later in the evening. That action was kicked off by Uprising.

Finlay vs. Brian Black (invitee)

The fighting Irishman didn't do much to endear himself to the crowd, and Black, who is trying to make a name for himself in the business, tried to start the show with a huge upset. A sunset flip got him a long 2 count, but Finlay was up. Despite a great effort by Black, he couldn't keep Finlay down and after a nasty fireman's carry slam, Finlay delivered the "Celtic Cross" for the victory.

PJ Cash vs. Tim Arson (invitee)

PJ Cash tuned up for the Royal Rumble and looked very good in doing so against Tim Arson, who never got off the starting block. After a blockbuster neckbreaker off the top rope, Cash measured Arson and put him away with his "Cash Register", heading into the Rumble match with some momentum.

Royal Rumble Qualifying Match

Carney vs. Gregory Helms w/ Talia Madison

The crowd was very into Talia, who has already created a unique entry into the ring for herself. But Helms seemed very protective of her, and that caused him to lose focus against Carney, who took the fight right to him and was able to catch him with the "C-Drive". He went for the cover, but Talia put Helms' right foot on the bottom rope before the count of 3, and the referee never saw it. Carney tried to grab Talia, but Helms came from behind with a schoolboy, only to get a 2 count. Carney got up and charged at Helms and kicked him in the abdomen but when he went for a flying forearm, Helms moved and then hung him over the top rope. Carney dropped to his knees, holding his throat and Helms saw an opening, blasting him with a Shining Wizard to get the victory, and a spot in the Royal Rumble match.

As Helms' music played, he walked up the ramp, shielding Talia from the crowd as they heckled him with boos.

PRIMETIME GOES LIVE

***THIS EDITION OF RESULTS WILL BE CONDENSED, DUE TO TIME CONSTRAINTS***

THE ST. PETE TIMES FORUM IS BUZZING WHEN IT COMES INTO THE SHOT FOLLOWING PRIMETIME's OPENING MONTAGE. MICHAEL COLE KICKS OFF THE ACTION BUT HE IS DOING SO BY HIMSELF. THE CROWD GOES WILD WHEN "BACK IN BLACK" BY AC/DC HITS AND JORDAN ROCKWELL COMES OUT WITH HIS HALF OF THE TWF TAG TEAM TITLES. ALONG WITH HIM IS CHAOS WOLF.

Michael Cole: "Welcome to TWF PrimeTime, folks, I am Michael Cole and as you can see, I'm here by myself tonight. That empty seat was once occupied by JBL and I have a feeling that's why Jordan Rockwell and Chaos Wolf are on their way to the ring".

THE TWO MEN GET INTO THE RING AND CHAOS WOLF ASKS FOR A MICROPHONE.

Chaos Wolf: "I know everyone remembers what happened last week! First, I lost my match and was eliminated from the King of the Ring tournament thanks to that piece of trash Paul Heyman! Then, I come out here to return the favor and someone who likes to call himself my former mentor, jumps out of his seat at the broadcast table and attacks me! JBL........ I'm pretty sure your job description didn't include attacking active superstars, so now let's hear your explanation! Now let's hear why you decided to stick your nose in my business"!

ROCKWELL TAPS WOLF ON THE SHOULDER AND TAKES THE MIC.

Jordan Rockwell: "Actually, Wolf, it's our business. Ya see, I had Joe Corey beat and JBL, your distraction cost me that match. Your distraction cost me a chance to main event WrestleMania. So it's not just Chaos Wolf asking you to get out here.... it's the........

JUST THEN, ROCKWELL IS CUT OFF BY "SEXY BOY" AND HIS TAG TEAM PARTNER SHAWN MICHAELS COMES OUT, HEADING TO THE RING.

Cole: "Well that's not JBL, that's the other half of the TWF Tag Team champions, the Heartbreak Kid Shawn Michaels"!

Shawn Michaels: "Jordan, Jordan, you gotta wake up here man. Chaos Wolf, you and JBL may have issues, there may be some issues from the past, I don't know. What I do know is that Jordan Rockwell and I are the TWF Tag Team champions, but I seem to be the only one who realizes it! Look, you lost your match and got eliminated from the tournament last week, yeah, it sucks. But you and I have a match with Dustin Kash and Kato tonight, not to mention the fact that we're both in the Royal Rumble. Now call me crazy, but being around this industry as long as I have, it seems we should be focusing on those two things, not JBL, let's save him for another time. Besides, I was just told JBL didn't even come here tonight".

ROCKWELL GAZES OUT INTO THE CROWD AND WOLF SEEMS TO BE TELLING HIM SOMETHING.

Rockwell: "Yeah, I see where you're coming from, but JBL, wherever you're hiding, you can bet that this is far from over".

ROCKWELL DROPS THE MIC AND "BACK IN BLACK" HITS BEFORE HE, MICHAELS AND CHAOS WOLF LEAVE THE RING.

Cole: "Folks a huge night here on PrimeTime and as you can see, the fireworks have already started. Still to come, the final four on the PrimeTime side of the King of the Rimg tournament will be in action and we will hand out a few more spots in the thirty man Royal Rumble"!

COMMERCIAL BREAK.........

RETURN FROM BREAK.... RINGSIDE.....

Cole: "Welcome back to PrimeTime here on FOX and what a start we've had to this.......

SUDDENLY, "COOL, COCKY, BAD" HITS AND A PINK CADILLAC PULLS INTO THE ARENA. THE HONKY TONK MAN IS BEHIND THE WHEEL AND THE CROWD REACTS WITH A MIXED RESPONSE AS HE GETS OUT OF THE CAR AND HEADS TO THE BROADCAST POSITION.

Cole: "Wait a minute, what the hell is this"?

HONKY TONK MAN GRABS THE EXTRA HEADSET AT THE TABLE.

Honky Tonk Man: "Didn't they tell you"?

Cole: "Tell me what"?

HTM: "I'm here to save this broadcast you idiot, I'm your new color commentator"!

Cole (throws his hands up): "Great, I'm sure it's gonna be plenty colorful".

King of the Ring Tournament Semi-Finals

Harry Smith vs. Eddie Saint James w/ Monica

With a spot in the PrimeTime finals on the line, Eddie Saint James was looking to advance in the tournament as he did last year. Saint James was all over Smith from the opening bell and he was able to fight off every effort Smith made to get back into the match. After a big swinging neckbreaker, The Saint shot Smith to the corner and followed him in, but Smith got up a foot in the face before running him over with a clothesline. Harry Smith then got The Saint up for his delayed vertical suplex, but The Saint jabbed him in the ribs before he could complete it. Saint then hit the ropes and kicked Smith right in the side of the head before making the cover, but Smith kicked out at 2. The Saint pulled him up and went for an irish whip, but Smith reversed it and sent Saint James into the corner before slamming into him with a clothesline. Smith then showed some true strength, lifting The Saint to his shoulder and delivering the running powerslam with plenty of force. Monica couldn't believe her eyes as Smith hooked the leg and got the huge win!

BACKSTAGE AREA.......

IN THE BACK, CAMERAS PICK UP A CONVERSATION BETWEEN PAUL HEYMAN AND ARIEL.

Paul Heyman: "So.... as I said, there is no reason for your man to face my client tonight. If you can convince Mister Thorn to forfeit this match, we will make it worth your while".

Ariel (runs her finger down Heyman's chest): "That's very enticing...... but so is the idea that Kevin and I can become King and Queen of the night. We'll take our chances".

ARIEL WALKS AWAY

Heyman (to himself): "Suit yourself".

Royal Rumble Qualifying Match

Chaos Wolf vs. Daivari

Chaos Wolf came out to "Remember the Name" by Fort Minor as his new theme music, but he still exhibited a lot of intensity he came out with to begin the night. Daivari stood little to no chance here and after being clotheslined right out of the air on a high risk move attempt, Daivari found himself on the receiving end of a Roll the Dice style neckbreaker. Wolf then got Daivari in a very unique submission hold, using somewhat of a triangle to choke Daivari out for the win.

RETURN FROM BREAK..... RINGSIDE.....

Axl Irvin and Chavo Guerrero vs. Umaga and Kenny Doane

As soon as Axl Irvin came out, he went straight for Umaga and they battled all over the outside of the ring. In the ring, Kenny Doane traded shots with the number one contender for his Lightheavyweight title, Chavo Guerrero. Doane missed with a dropkick and Chavo locked in an STF. Doane looked ready to tap out, but he was able to will himself to the bottom rope to break the hold. Outside the ring, Umaga caught a charging Axl Irvin with a backdrop that sent him into the crowd! After pulling the front of Chavo's tights and sending him face first into the middle turnbuckle pad, Doane slapped the hand of Umaga as he came to their corner. Umaga came in and steamrolled into Chavo, charging from across the ring and using his posterior to crush the face of Chavo. He then pulled him up and delivered the "Samoan Spike" to get the easy 1........2.........3.

Match Time: 3:12

With Axl still in the front row, Umaga stood in the ring with his thumb in the air as Doane grabbed his belt and stood over Chavo, taunting him.

FONT COLOR= "WHITE">BACKSTAGE........

In the back, Lena Yada is with Harry Smith, who has a towel around his neck and is still sweating.

Lena Yada: "Harry, just a few minutes ago, you advanced to the PrimeTime finals of the King of the Ring tournament".

Harry Smith: "It feels great, but my journey is not complete. I wanted this interview time to tell everyone that I am dedicating the rest of this tournament to my father, Davey Boy Smith, who I know is watching down on me right now. (Looks up) Dad, no one thought I would get this far, but I know you did, and I'm gonna win the whole thing".

Deuce N' Domino w/ Cherry vs. The Hardy's

With the recent trade, this would be the last time the Hardy's would team together, at least for now. They had the crowd 100% behind them. Deuce N' Domino seemed overwhelmed by the energized Hardy's in a match that would send one team to the Royal Rumble. After Matt caught Deuce with the Side Effect, Jeff Hardy went for a plancha on Domino, but he missed when Domino moved and he landed hard on the floor. Cherry got up on the apron on the other side of the ring to check on Deuce, but referee Mike Enos did all he could to get her down. Matt went over to check on his brother, but Domino had gotten a steel chair and cracked Matt over the head with it. Matt fell back to the mat and Domino got up to make the cover and get his team the upset win.

Non-Title Match

Dustin Kash and Kato w/ Sonny Onoo vs. Tag Team Champs: Jordan Rockwell and Shawn Michaels

Dustin Kash and Kato were eager to spring the upset in this one for ECW, but the champions were focused and the match didn't last long. Shawn Michaels avoided a roundhouse kick from Kato and caught him with a nice powerslam that set up a flying elbow off the top rope. Michaels then positioned himself for the "Sweet Chin Music" but turned the superkick on Dustin Kash when he came into the ring. Michaels made the tag to Rockwell who came in and measured Kato. Sonny Onoo got up on the apron, reaching into his pocket, presumably for his salt, but Rockwell grabbed him by the collar. Kato came from behind with a shot to the back of the head before trying to whip Rockwell to the ropes. Rockwell reversed that and kicked Kato in the abdomen before delivering the "Extreme Measures" for the victory.

Match Time: 3:31

BACKSTAGE........

EDGE IS SHOWN GETTING READY FOR HIS MATCH WHEN RANDY ORTON COMES UP.

Edge: "Heh..... I assume you're not here to wish me luck tonight".

Randy Orton: "Just like last week when you sat at ringside for my match, I'll be out there tonight for yours, watching your every move".

Edge: "You do that, Randy, and bring a spiral notebook.... you might learn something".

Orton: "Anything I have to do to beat you, Edge, anything I have to do".

ORTON WALKS AWAY AND EDGE JUST LOOKS ON.

Non-Title/King of the Ring Tournament Semi-Finals

Intercontinental Champ: Kevin Thorn w/ Ariel vs. ECW Champ: "The Show" Joe Corey w/ Paul Heyman

This was a great match with a spot in the PrimeTime final on the line. Thorn seemed angry about Paul Heyman's attempt to get him to forfeit the match earlier, and he was all over Corey after the opening bell. Thorn delivered a stiff sidewalk slam before clotheslining Corey over the top rope and to the floor. From there, Thorn came off the apron with a double axe handle that found it's mark, but at the same time, Thorn seemed to tweak his knee as he landed. Corey recovered and drove Thorn into the ring apron before grabbing his right leg, lifting it up and slamming it down on the guardrail! Corey got back in the ring to prevent a count out and even though Thorn was able to get back in, he had a bullseye on him. Like a great technician, Corey went to work on the right knee of Thorn, pulling and twisting it in several awkward directions. Finally, Corey pulled the reigning Intercontinental champion to his feet and went for the "Showstopper", but Thorn was able to block it and counter with a backbody drop, even though that too hurt his knee. Thorn grabbed Corey and pushed him to the corner before driving 3 back elbows into the side of his head. With a running start, Thorn went for a big boot but Corey moved and he got his leg hung up in the corner. Corey came back and took him down with a nasty chop block before pulling him to the center of the ring. Corey then locked in The Cage, ripping at the knee of Thorn. Thorn did all he could to fight it, but there was just no way out and finally, he tapped out.

Match Time: 7:05

COMMERCIAL BREAK........

RETURN FROM BREAK..... RINGSIDE......

JOHN CENA COMES OUT TO CUT A PROMO AND TALKS ABOUT HOW HE WILL WIN THE ROYAL RUMBLE FOR A THIRD TIME. FOR SOME REASON, RENE DUPREE TRIES TO RUN IN AND ATTACK HIM FROM BEHIND, BUT CENA IS READY. AFTER FIGHTING DUPREE OFF, HE CATCHES HIM WITH HIS SWINGING SIDESLAM WHICH LEADS TO THE "F-U". CENA CELEBRATES IN THE RING AS "THE TIME IS NOW" PLAYS. SOME FANS BOO AND SOME FANS CHEER.

"BURN IN MY LIGHT" HITS AND RANDY ORTON COMES OUT IN STREET CLOTHES TO DO GUEST COMMENTARY. ON HIS WAY DOWN, HE CROSSES PATHES WITH CENA AND THE TWO ENGAGE IN A LONG STAREDOWN.

Non-Title Match

Ric Flair vs. Universal Champ: Edge

Flair got into the ring for the first time in a while but he hadn't missed a beat, taking it right to Edge. Flair looked great as he battered the champion with knifedge chops and a shinbreaker. Moments later, he locked in the Figure Four, but Edge was fortunate to be able to get to the ropes. Flair competed like it was his last match, fighting with everything he had. Edge came back with a kick to the gut before slamming Flair face first into the turnpad. Edge went for the spear, but Flair moved and sent him shoulder first into the corner before coming up with a schoolboy for the 1........2........, but Edge was up. Flair then hit the ropes but Edge popped up and connected on a low dropkick to the right knee. Flair was in a tremendous amount of pain and Edge pulled him right into the "Edge-a-cution" for the win.

Match Time: 9:09

After the match, Orton grabbed the Universal title and brought it into the ring, ready to hand it to Edge. Instead, he took the belt and drilled Edge right in the head with it, knocking him to the mat. "Burn in my Light" played again as Orton stood over the fallen champion with a cold look in his eyes.
