PrimeTime made it's first stop in Colorado Springs since June '06 and it was also the last official stop before MeltDown. Fans in the arena got a full slate of action as the card for MeltDown, traditionally one of the biggest events of the year, was completed.
Ricky Ortiz vs. Adrian Grimm (invitee) Ricky Ortiz did everything he could to get the crowd behind him, and they seem to be coming on, albeit slowly. Ortiz was very crisp in this match against a tough customer in Grimm. After a big hip toss, Ortiz ran the ropes and caught Grimm with a flying shoulder tackle. Moments later, a textbook powerslam off an irish whip led to a big splash which Ortiz got great height on along with a 3 count.
CM Punk vs. Daivari The fans in Colorado Springs were very pro-CM Punk and he didn't let them down. Although, he did take quite a beating from Daivari, who did everything but win the match. Punk was able to rally back and after a very stiff knee to the jaw, Punk delivered a big bulldog. After waiting for Daivari to get up, he hit the "GTS" to put him away.
Domino vs. Scott Steiner w/ Cherry The main event of Uprising featured Big Poppa Pump taking on Cherry's very own brother, Domino. The crowd was all over Steiner and Cherry was caught several times cheering for Domino, who really struggled with Steiner's power. After running right into a belly to belly suplex, Domino found himself on the receiving end of a big clothesline. Steiner then flexed his bicep and went for an elbow, but Domino rolled out of the way. After several punches to the head and body, Domino hit the ropes but Steiner kicked him in the stomach before hitting a reverse STO/Complete Shot manuever before rolling Domino over for the win. After the match, Steiner left with the clearly unhappy Cherry as the crowd hastily booed. PRIMETIME GOES LIVE
"RAP SUPERSTAR" PLAYS INTO THE BLACK AND WHITE, OPENING MONTAGE VIDEO. THE WORLD ARENA THEN COMES INTO THE SHOT, BLAZING WITH PYRO AND THE LOUD CHEERS OF THE TWF FANS. BOOS FILTER IN WHEN "EX's AND OH's" BY ATREYU COMES ON AND PJ CASH MAKES HIS WAY OUT WITH THE MASSIVE WARLORD. Michael Cole: "We have arrived in the final destination before MeltDown and just as the Summer season cools off, it is only heating up in the TWF"! Honky Tonk Man: "And we have a huge show tonight for all you wrestling fans.... yes I did say wrestling, so stay tuned, we've got John Cena in a rematch with JBL, Joe Corey seeking retribution against Rene Dupree and Chaos Wolf taking on the Italian Muscle that is Aldo Corleone"! Cole: "Well it looks like we're ready for our first match, so let's send it down to the ring"! PJ Cash w/ The Warlord vs. Carney This was a great way to start the show as both Cash and Carney showed their quickness and agility. Carney was able to scale the top rope and take Cash out with a corkscrew attack for a near fall. After a low dropkick, Carney scored with a tornado DDT. He then hit a flipping legdrop before pulling Cash up and slinging him to the corner. He followed in with a crossbody attempt, but missed everything and landed on the top turnbuckle. From there, Cash got a running start and punted Carney, kicking him right in the ribs. He tried to pull him off into the "Cash Register", but Carney pushed free. He became slighyly distracted by the Warlord outside the ring, but flew off with a crossbody. Cash was able to roll through it, hooking both legs deep to score the 1........2.........3. Match Time: 5:08 After the match, Carney discussed the count with referee Charles Robinson, thinking it was only a 2 count. But Cash came from behind with a kick to the back of the head and that allowed the Warlord to come in and pull Carney up into the Full Nelson. The crowd yelled and booed as he swung him around in his monstrous arms before just tossing him to the mat. BACKSTAGE AREA........ IN THE BACK, EDGE IS WITH ALDO CORLEONE, WHO IS CURLING A PAIR OF 25 POUND DUMBELLS. Edge: "Yeah.... yeah.... that's it! That's what Chaos Wolf has to deal with tonight! But I warn you, he must be taken care of tonight..... or I'll have to go with plan B". THE SHOT FADES OUT AS EDGE WALKS AWAY. COMMERCIAL BREAK....... RETURN FROM BREAK..... BACKSTAGE...... EDGE IS WALKING THROUGH THE BACK WITH A BIG SMILE ON HIS FACE WHEN SHANE McMAHON COMES UP. Shane McMahon: "Oh, Edge, there you are". Edge: "Here I am". Shane McMahon: "Look, I know you are aware of tonight's main event between Chaos Wolf and Aldo Corleone. I just wanted to let you know that if you personally interfere in that match..... I'll strip you of your precious Universal title". SHANE WALKS AWAY AND EDGE IS CLEARLY ANGRY. John Morrison and Kato w/ Sonny Onoo vs. Chavo Guerrero and Super Crazy Whether it was the tension within ECW or the fact that this was their first tag team match together, Morrison and Kato were blitzed from the onset by the Mexican combination of Chavo and Crazy. After a double dropkick took Morrison out of the ring, they focused on Kato. Chavo was able to rough Kato up on the mat before pulling him up into the 3 Amigos suplexes. Super Crazy tagged into the match, keeping the pressure on Kato with a flying wheel kick. But Morrison tripped him up when he hit the ropes and Kato then dropped him with a vicious savate kick. Morrison quickly made the tag and picked Crazy up, delivering a rolling neckbreaker drop before covering him for the 3 count. Match Time: 4:12 BACKSTAGE...... IN THE BACK, LENA YADA IS STANDING BY WITH MARK HENRY. Lena Yada: "With me at this time is the World's Strongest Man, Mark Henry. Mark, tonight you will compete in a triple threat that involves two other pretty intimidating guys, Nails and Umaga". Mark Henry: "One man calls himself the Samoan Bulldozer.... the other is the Hardcore Icon. Well I call myself the King of the Jungle and tonight, I will prove that I am the most dangerous man in the entire TWF"! HENRY WALKS AWAY AND LENA WIPES HER FACE AFTER BEING SPRAYED WITH SALIVA BY THE INTENSE HENRY. THE CAMERA PANS OVER TO SHOW KEVIN THORN, WHO OVERHEARD ALL OF HENRY's WORDS, AND SEEMS LESS THAN IMPRESSED. Triple Threat Match Mark Henry vs. Nails vs. Umaga Three of the toughest men in the entire TWF were ready to square off, but just as the bell sounded, Kevin Thorn and Ariel made their way out from the back. Thorn was invited into the ring by the other 3 men and he went in, trading shots with all of them as the fight was on. But from the back came the rest of The Requiem, Drusus and Gangrel. They got into the ring to help Thorn, by the other 3 men were fighting amongst each other as well. Officials came out from the back in droves to pull the men apart. They had a hell of a time doing it, but when they did, it was The Requiem who was still in the ring and Thorn held up his Intercontinental title as his music played. COMMERCIAL BREAK............ RETURN FROM BREAK..... RINGSIDE..... JBL vs. John Cena This was a rematch from the last PrimeTime and without any involvement from Tito Ortiz or his posse, Cena was rolling. JBL did all he could to fight him off, even delivering his fallaway slam after catching him on a crossbody attempt. JBL was able to escape an attempt at the STFU but Cena was relentless, staying on him. Finally, JBL poked him in the eye to slow him down before kicking him square in the face. JBL then dropped 8 consecutive elbows before making a cover, but Cena was up at 2. JBL pulled Cena up and whipped him to the corner, looking for the Clothesline from Hell. But Cena ducked and got him up on his shoulders. JBL slipped off and threw his big lariat again, but Cena avoided it again, got him up on his shoulders and hit the "F-U" for the 1........2..........3. Match Time: 6:45 A VIDEO CLIP IS SHOWN OF WEMBLEY STADIUM IN LONDON BEING MADE READY FOR MELTDOWN. BANNERS ARE BEING HUNG AROUND THE STADIUM AND MORE SEATS ARE BEING MADE AVAILABLE DUE TO INCREDIBLE TICKET SALES. "Misteria Cantare" hits and "The Show" Joe Corey starts to make his way to the ring to a chorus of boos. In a rather unique turn, Paul Heyman is not with Corey, as he enters the ring alone.
Joe Corey: "Two years ago, I walked into MeltDown and picked up the biggest win of my career up to that point. I went to Puerto Rico and I defeated Jordan Rockwell. Since that time, I have been on the fast track to greatness in the TWF, and not one of you people give a damn about it! I held the ECW Championship for over a year, and still to this day, the majority of you people still do not recognize me as a former World Champion! It is amazing to me how much you don't care about success. But don't let me stop at you people, because my fellow members of ECW here on Primetime feel the same way. I try to motivate those men, and they do not respond at all. On Rampage, my influence is felt at every turn. Look at who controls the gold on that brand. You have the Knockout-Tap Out Connection of Elijah Burke and Sylvester Terkay holding the Tag Team Championship belts. The Manbear is also holding the ECW Championship, and JJ Ramplin has quietly become the longest reigning King of Cable in this company's history. That means so much to me, that I personally bestowed on him the honor of carrying the same title belt that I carried around for nearly ten months when I set that record a few years ago.
That is why I decided to prove to everyone that my message is still going to be spread throughout this industry. And that is why several weeks ago, I came to this ring and attacked The Undertaker. For years, The Undertaker has been the most feared competitor in the wrestling industry. People have run away from him in fear of looking at him the wrong way. That is the reason why I came out here and took the fight to him. Not only am I not afraid of The Undertaker, I despise The Undertaker! He comes and goes as he pleases, and you people act as if he has ruled the TWF for the entire time he was gone!
Where was The Undertaker for the entire year I was ECW Champion? Where was The Undertaker when I was winning the King of the Ring? Where was The Undertaker when I was main eventing WrestleMania? He was at home, but you people still cheered for him! And then when does he come back? He comes back to cost me the number one Contender spot for the Universal Championship. If it wasn't for him, I would have won the Elimination Chamber match, and I would be the one facing Edge at MeltDown for that title. So instead, I am going to walk into MeltDown, two years after the win that put me on the map, and I am going to get the win that is going to cement my place in the annuls of time. I am going to pick up the win that is going to earn me another shot at the Universal Championship, be it against Edge or Chaos Wolf. And last but not least, I am going to do, what no man has been able to do. I am going to walk into Wembley Stadium and finally end the career of the phenom! So enjoy this night fans of Primetime, because this is the last time you will ever, ever, see The Undertaker, because MeltDown will be Showtime, and your hero will rest… in… PIECES!!!
"The Show" Joe Corey vs. Rene Dupree Dupree came out and he nearly got the upset win again, on two occassions, getting two near falls on rollups to start the match. After catching him with a sharp kick to the midsection, Corey took the match over and seemed to be looking to punish Dupree. After back to back spinebusters, Corey got on Dupree and hit him with 9 or 10 solid right hands in the hand. Corey continued to pour it on but he missed with a clothesline after sending Dupree into the corner. Dupree followed with a backdrop suplex but he went into his French Tickler dance, and that turned out to be a mistake. Corey got up and pulled Dupree right into the "Showstopper" before covering him for the win. Match Time: 7:04 After the match, Corey asked for the microphone again. Joe Corey (catching his breath): "Ya know what, that wasn't even a challenge. Come on, Undertaker, I know you're lurking around here somewhere. Come on out! Come on out Undertaker! Have Michael Cole mention your bone-chilling entrance! Come out and face me know"! Cole: "Is Joe Corey realy begging for The Undertaker to come out"? A BELL TOLLS AND THE CROWD GOES WILD. HTM: "Oh boy, I'd hightail it outta there if I was you, Corey"! THE UNDERTAKER COMES OUT FROM THE BACK AND BEGINS TO WALK DOWN THE RAMP TO THE RING. HE CLIMBS INTO THE RING, STARING RIGHT AT COREY. HE REMOVES HIS LONG COAT AND THEN HIS HAT. THAT's WHEN IT BECOMES VERY OBVIOUS THAT THIS ISN'T THE UNDERTAKER, BUT SOME VERY BAD IMPOSTER. COREY HITS THE MAN WITH A RIGHT HAND BEFORE TAKING HIM TO THE MAT AND POUNDING HIM WITH RIGHT HANDS. COREY THEN PULLS HIM UP AND DELIVERS THE SHOWSTOPPER AGAIN BEFORE STANDING OVER THE "UNDERTAKER" WITH ONE FOOT ON HIS CHEST AND ONE FIST IN THE AIR. THE CROWD IS BOOING WITH ALL THEY HAVE BUT SUDDENLY, A BOLT OF LIGHTNING STRIKES THE STAGE AND ANOTHER BELL TOLLS. THE CROWD CHEERS AND COREY's EYES LOOK LIKE THEY ARE GOING TO POP OUT OF HIS HEAD! COMMERCIAL BREAK........ RETURN FROM BREAK..... ECW DRESSING ROOM...... WHEN PRIMETIME RETURNS, PAUL HEYMAN IS SHOWN TALKING TO JOHN MORRISON, KATO AND SONNY ONOO AND HE SEEMS TO BE ENCOURAGING THEM WHEN THE DRESSING ROOM DOOR BURSTS OPEN AND DUSTIN KASH IS STANDING THERE IN STREET CLOTHES. Dustin Kash: "What the hell was that? I thought he knew what he was getting into here". Paul Heyman: "Now Dustin, we can't........ Kash: "Shut up! I've made my decision, and it wasn't a tough one. When I came to the TWF, I was the top up and coming rookie on the entire roster. I went on to form the greatest tag team in the history of this company. I had it all, I had the future in the palm of my hands...... then I fell in with you..... with this horrible reincarnation of ECW..... something that failed the first time. Well it failed this time too and not only that, it has sucked the life out of me.... it has sucked the passion I once had for this business out of me. So count me out, I'm done, I quit! Not just ECW...... wrestling in general". KASH TAKES HIS ECW T-SHIRT OFF AND FLINGS IT ACROSS THE ROOM BEFORE WALKING AWAY. HEYMAN AND THE REST OF ECW LOOKS SHOCKED. IN ANOTHER PART OF THE BACKSTAGE AREA....... EDGE IS SHOWN PACING BACK AND FORTH IN A DIMLY LIT ROOM. THERE IS SOMEONE IN THE ROOM WITH HIM, BUT THEY CAN'T BE SEEN. THE MAN IN THE ROOM PULLS OUT A CIGARETTE. Edge: "What are you doing? You can't smoke in here! They prohibit smoking in buildings.. especially arenas!"
The man lights his cigarette and laughs, billowing smoke.
Man: "Well, now, this isn't the first time I've done something I shouldn't."
Edge: "You're hilarious, man. Hilarious! Now what do you suggest we do about tonight?"
Man: "What is there to do, Edge? You can start first by paying me. I don't work for free. TWF doesn't exactly put good food on the table."
Edge: "You want me to pay you?"
Man: "It's either that, or have me breathing down your neck for it. I'm good for it. Consider it an investment for your future."
Edge: "Investment? Future? What are you talking about?"
Edge places two stacks of cash in the unknown man's hand.
Man: "You think this is my first trip to the rodeo? We've got a whole line of bulls just waiting to be next in line."
Edge: "What? Sound like bull alright, bullsh--!"
Man: "Now, now, Edge. Did you not get what was promised to you? I told you I would take him out of the equation. And I will. His vengeance will be with me.".
Edge: "Oh... Oh.. Now I get it."
Edge begins a wide smile.
Edge: "Oh, you're good. You're real good."
Man: "That's right, I am. Just wait till you see what I've got up my sleeve next!" Cole: "Who the heck is Edge talking to"? HTM: "I don't know, it had to be Aldo Corleone". Cole: "Whoever it was, Edge has something up his sleeve for MeltDown and speaking of MeltDown, two huge matches have just become official"! PROMO GRAPHICS FOR THE NEWLY SIGNED MATCHES ARE DISPLAYED. HTM: "Well look at this one, for the first time in TWF history, we are gonna see a Monster's Ball match for the Intercontinental title! Umaga, Mark Henry, Nails and Kevin Thorn are gonna battle it out"! Cole: "And look at this one..... Joe Corey wanted The Undertaker, he's got him! It's The Show one on one with the Deadman at MeltDown"! 6 Man Tag Team Match Jordan Rockwell, Shawn Michaels and Finlay vs. The U.N.: Vladimir Kozlov, Harry Smith and Paul Burchill w/ Katie Lea and William Regal The tag champs and Finlay had their work cut out for them, especially in what was basically 5 on 3 odds. Referee Mickey Henson had his hands completely full and he pretty much stood idly by as the 6 men brawled in and out of the ring. Regal tripped up Finlay and pulled him under the bottom rope. The two men began trading shots until Kozlov came out and hit Finlay from behind. Regal then grabbed Finlay's arms and held them behind his back as Kozlov went for his headbutt, but Finlay moved and he struck Regal! Finlay then grabbed his shillelagh and smashed the Moscow Mauler over the head with it! In the ring, Rockwell took Burchill down in the STF but Harry Smith broke it up with a falling double axe handle. But when Smith turned around, HBK smoked him with the "Sweet Chin Music" before covering him for the win. Match Time: 4:19 BACKSTAGE....... JOHN CENA IS IN THE BACK TALKING TO MATT HARDY WHEN SHANE McMAHON COMES UP WITH SOMETHING IN HIS HAND. John Cena: "Ah, I didn't do it, I swear". Shane McMahon: "Do I look like trouble or something? Nah, I'm actually here with good news". SHANE HANDS CENA A CLIPBOARD WITH A PIECE OF PAPER ON IT. Cena: "What's this"? Shane McMahon: "What you've been waiting for..... that is a contract for you to face Tito Ortiz at MeltDown". Cena: "Got a pen"? SHANE HANDS HIM A PEN AND CENA SIGNS IT VERY QUICKLY BEFORE HANDING IT BACK TO SHANE. A MAN IS SHOWN FROM BEHIND, WALKING. THE SUNLIGHT CREATES A SHADOW OF THE MAN, WALKING RIGHT NEXT TO HIM AS A VOICE BEGINS TO SPEAK. Voice: "Did you really think I wouldn't be back? Oh, I will, and I will let you know the truth. You will realize that the more things change..... the more they stay the same". HIGH OCTANE.......... Returns at MeltDown! Aldo Corleone vs. Chaos Wolf Chaos Wolf came right at the bigger, stronger Aldo Corleone, showing no fear. Like he was fending off a pesky bug, Aldo kept pushing him away before finally smashing him with the Mafia Kick out of nowhere. That led to Corleone punishing Wolf for the next several minutes. He then picked Wolf up above his head as if to go for a shoulderbreaker, but Wolf freed himself and landed on his feet. Aldo threw a clothesline that missed badly and he hit referee Mike Chioda, turning him inside out. Wolf kicked Aldo in the back of each knee before knocking him to the ropes with a clothesline. He then got a running start but Aldo avoided him and threw him over the top rope. Wolf landed hard on the floor but after Corleone followed him out, he reached under the ring and pulled out a fire extinguisher, spraying it in the face of Corleone. He then grabbed a nearby steel chair and cracked the big Italian over the skull. Wolf rolled into the ring and Chioda got up and issued a 10 count as the crowd counted along, giving the win to Chaos Wolf. Match Time: 5:48 But Wolf wasn't able to celebrate long as the newcomer to the TWF known as Samaiel hit the ring on attack mode. He beat the heck out of Wolf, who had just competed in a hard fought match. After delivering a nasty inverted death valley driver, he gave Wolf a taste of his own medicine, smashing him over the head with a steel chair! As the crowd booed, an elated Edge came out clapping! HTM: "This must be plan B"! Cole: "And this must be the man that Edge was talking to earlier"! HTM: "I wonder what the price tag for the services of Samaiel was"! Cole: "Who knows, but more importantly, what is Chaos Wolf up against at MeltDown"?! OFF AIR.............
