As the TWF rolled into California, there was several events taking place. Including all of the area baseball teams (Giants, Dodgers, Padres and Angels) in the thick of the playoff race. But none of that stopped the fans from coming out and showing their support for the stars of PrimeTime as stage 4 of the Million Dollar Challenge between Charlie Haas and Jordan Rockwell had been previewed locally all week. They all settled into their seats after hitting the merchandise and concession stands for an impressive lineup on Uprising. Low-Ki vs. Chaos Wolf For 7 minutes, these two really got after it. But after running into a straight savat kick, Chaos Wolf was victimized by the "Ki Krush Driver" and the surging Low-Ki got the win. Johnny Stamboli vs. Tajiri The Sacramento crowd was very much behind Tajiri but the strength of Stamboli was what controlled the match. But after slipping out of a vertical suplex, Tajiri kicked him in the gut and then right across the face with the Buzzsaw kick, hooking a leg for the win. Mark Jindrak vs. The Dark Prince Two guys very much in need of a win went at it here and it looked like Jindrak was gonna pull off the win when the Prince walked into his dropkick. But Jindrak miscalculated a flying clothesline from the middle turnbuckle and the Prince drove him into the mat with a sidewinder powerslam to get the pin. THE PRINCE SLOWLY WALKED UP THE RAMP WHILE THE CROWD CHEERED, MOSTLY IN ANTICIPATION FOR THINGS TO GET UNDERWAY. PRIMETIME GOES LIVE
AS PRIMETIME COMES ON THE AIR LIVE, FOOTAGE IS SHOWN FROM LAST WEEK OF SHANE McMAHON RETURNING TO SPOIL RAVEN's SHOT AT THE UNIVERSAL TITLE ALONG WITH THE ANNOUNCEMENT THAT THEY WOULD SQUARE OFF AT MELTDOWN FOR 100% OWNERSHIP OF PRIMETIME. THE MONTAGE THEN ROLLS AND "RAP SUPERSTAR" PLAYS AS THE BUZZING ARCO ARENA COMES INTO THE SHOT. Michael Cole: "It is a warm Summer night in the capital of California and we are live for PrimeTime"! Jesse Ventura: "Thank you Michael Cole and folks, like you didn't know, I'm Jesse the body Ventura and this is the number one wrestling broadcast in the world today"! A PROMO GRAPHIC WITH THE PRIMETIME LOGO IS SHOWN. TRAVIS WAKEMAN IS IN IT. Cole: "And as promised last week, tonight we will hear from Travis Wakeman on a huge decision regarding his future here in the TWF! Any idea what he'll say Jesse"?! "OVER MY HEAD" BY LIT TRACK HITS AND DYLAN JANSENS COMES OUT TO A GREAT POP TO START THE SHOW. Ventura: "Well I talked to Sean O'Haire earlier today and he's convinced that Wakeman is gonna call it quits and you can't imagine how happy that makes O'Haire feel Michael"! Cole: "That's sick.... that's all it is. But what do you expect from a guy like O'Haire"? A NEW ENTRANCE TUNE IS HEARD AND THE MUSCULAR LUTHER REIGNS MAKES HIS WAY DOWN THE AISLE TO A LOT OF BOOING. Ventura: "Take a look at this man. And Dylan Jansens wanted this match"? Cole: "The Hardcore title will not be on the line in this one but yes, Dylan Jansens will be the first TWF superstar to climb into the ring with Luther here, a guy who we've seen do nothing but aid in Shane Thompson winninig matches"! Ventura: "Come on Michael, Thompson could win those matches with or without him! He's an insurance policy is what he is"! Cole: "Needless to say, this guy Luther Reigns goes aboyt six foot seven and weighs right around three hundred pounds so Jansens is facing an uphill climb for sure". Non-Title Match Luther Reigns vs. Hardcore Champ Dylan Jansens Jansens showed he was not gonna back down from the big man but Reigns easily shrugged him off before hitting a big clothesline. Reigns slowed the match down with a pendulum backbreaker and then a bear hug. Jansens fought hard inside the hold while the crowd cheered and showed he'd resort to anything to escape, biting the nose of Reigns. Jansens got in 2 swift kicks to the body before ducking a clothesline and dropping Reigns with a crescent kick. Jansens then kicked at the legs of Reigns while he was down but Reigns got to one knee and caught Jansens foot, pushing him to the mat. Jansens charged in but Reigns was waiting with a big back elbow. He then lifted him up onto his shoulder for some sort of sideslam but Jansens elbowed him in the back of the head and then dropkicked him into the corner after Reigns let him go. Jansens ran into the corner but Reigns moved and bounced off the ropes, looking for a big boot. But Jansens avoided that and used a drop toehold followed by the shining wizard. Jansens maybe should've gone for a cover but he went to the top rope. While he was up there, Axl Irvin ran out and Jansens came off with the Deep Sea Dive. But he didn't go for a cover, instead taking Axl's bait. Next thing Jansens knew, he was grabbed around the head and put down with a reverse testdrive neckbreaker which got Luther the win. Match Time: 5:24 Ventura: "There ya go Michael, any more questions about why Shane Thompson selected this guy"?! Cole: "Oh I'm not gonna say Luther wasn't impressive, but he owes that win to Axl Irvin"! Ventura: "Wait.... Axl is in the ring"! AFTER LUTHER LEFT, AXL IRVIN WENT AND GRABBED THE HARDCORE TITLE, BRINGING IT INTO THE RING. WHEN JANSENS GOT TO HIS FEET, AXL PUT HIM RIGHT BACK DOWN, USING THE TITLE TO THE HEAD. AXL THEN HAD SOME HARSH WORDS FOR THE HARDCORE CHAMP. Cole: "What the hell is the meaning of this"?! Ventura: "Axl is sending a message Cole.... loud and clear"! Cole: "Well what would be wrong with facing Jansens like a man?! If you ask me, Axl Irvin just opened up a whole new can of problems for himself"! A PROMO GRAPHIC POPS UP WITH ROB VAN DAM ON ONE SIDE AND JAMIE NOBLE ON THE OTHER. Ventura: "Well what about the match that Raven and Shane McMahon agreed to for tonight"? Cole: "It's gonna be the Universal champ Rob Van Dam against Jamie Noble and the winner will give either Shane or Raven the oppurtunity to select the stipulation for their match at MeltDown! We'll let you figure out who's representing who"! COMMERCIAL BREAK...... A COMMERCIAL FOR IBM IS SHOWN FOLLOWED BY AN AD FOR THE NFL ON FOX.... SEASON STARTS SOON!! Lightheavyweight Title Tournament: 1st Round Guido Maritato vs. Essa Rios This tournament hasn't had a subpar match yet and that trend continued here. Guido thought he'd won it after a fisherman buster but Rios got his foot on the bottom rope just before the 3 count. Moments later, Guido went for a sunset flip but Rios sat down and hooked his legs forward to get the 3 count and advance to the next round. Match Time: 7:18 BACKSTAGE..... RAVEN TELLS JAMIE NOBLE TO COME THROUGH FOR HIM TONIGHT BECAUSE IF HE DOES, HE's GONNA SELECT A CLOCKWORK ORANGE HOUSE OF FUN MATCH BETWEEN HE AND SHANE O'MAC AT MELTDOWN. BACK IN THE RING, RENE DUPREE CALLS OUT THE NEWCOMER MIKE AUSTIN, WANTING A MATCH RIGHT NOW. IT ONLY TAKES A FEW SECONDS FOR AUSTIN TO RESPOND. Rene Dupree vs. Mike Austin This was a highly competitive match as the youngest man in the TWF Dupree hooked up with Steve Austin's nephew who looked a little "green" in the ring. But after a flying clothesline, Austin hit a swinging neckbomb but failed to hook a leg and Dupree kicked out at 2. Moments later, Dupree got in an undetected low blow followed by a schoolboy rollup to pin him, a travesty to say the least. Match Time: 9:17 DUPREE CELEBRATED AND THE CROWD GAVE IT TO HIM AS PRIMETIME WENT TO COMMERCIAL. COMMERCIAL BREAK..... RETURN FROMO BREAK.... BACKSTAGE.... AS PRIMETIME RETURNS, MICHAEL COLE ANNOUNCES THAT A DRAGON's LAIR MATCH FOR THE HARDCORE TITLE BETWEEN DYLAN JANSENS AND AXL IRVIN HAS BEEN SIGNED FOR MELTDOWN. MORE DETAILS WILL BE GIVEN NEXT WEEK. THOMPSON SAYS THAT HE's CERTAIN THE BEST MAN WILL WIN. HE LEAVES LAUGHING. BACKSTAGE.... RAVEN IS WITH TED DIBIASE, CHARLIE HAAS AND RHYNO. HE TELLS HAAS THAT HE DOESN'T CARE HOW HE BEATS ROCKWELL TONIGHT, JUST TO MAKE SURE THAT HE DOES. HE THEN CONFIRMS THAT THEIR MATCH WILL BE A 20 MINUTE ULTIMATE SUBMISSION. RAVEN THEN ABUSES HIS POWER SOME MORE, MAKING A MATCH FOR NEXT WEEK's PRIMETIME BETWEEN RHYNO AND SHANE McMAHON. RHYNO LIKES THE IDEA. DIBIASE AND HIS BOYS TURN AND LEAVE BUT RUN INTO RIC FLAIR, RANDY ORTON AND BATISTA. FLAIR SAYS THEY DON'T WANT ANY TROUBLE, THEY JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE CONWAY AND DINSMORE ARE GONNA BE ON TOP OF THEIR GAME WHEN ORTON AND BATISTA FACE THEM FOR THE TAG TEAM TITLES. *Winner earns a tag team title shot for his team Randy Orton w/ Ric Flair vs. Bahamut It didn't take long for Ric Flair to get involved heer but to even things up, Edge came out. But the brawl outside the ring between he and Flair got referee Chris Kay's attention, allowing Batista to come through the crowd, just as they seemingly planned and get a cheap shot on Bahamut which led to the "RKO" and Orton got the 3 count before Strife could get there to make the save. Strife checked on his partner as Orton, Batista and Flair left with a tag team title shot. Match Time: 4:01 COMMERCIAL BREAK..... RETURN FROM BREAK.... RINGSIDE.... Raven/S. McMahon Stipulation Decider Match/Non-Title Jamie Noble vs. Universal Champ Rob Van Dam As he did at TWF Breakthrough, Noble gave RVD fits, slowing things down with his methodic style. But a step over heel kick by RVD found the mark after countering the tiger bomb and he went to the top rope, hitting the "5 Star Frogsplash" on a face down Noble, rolling him over to get the 1......2.....3 which will allow Shane to decide the stipulation between he and Raven at MeltDown. Match Time: 5:23 BACKSTAGE..... CAMERAS SHOW SHANE O'MAC AND ROCKWELL CELEBRATING RVD's WIN. BACK IN THE RING, WAR ON AMERICA HAS COME OUT AND RECOGNIZED SACRAMENTO KINGS STAR CHRIS WEBBER SITTING IN THE FRONT ROW. THEY ASK HIM TO COME INTO THE RING WHICH HE GLADLY DOES. BUT ARIES BEGINS TO BASH HIM AND U.S. BASKETBALL, NOTING HOW MANY PLAYERS TURNED DOWN THE CHANCE TO GO TO ATHENS TO PLAY IN THIS YEAR's OLYMPICS. WEBBER RETALIATES WITH A WISECRACK ABOUT HOW ARIES HIDES BEHIND A MASK AND HIROHITO STEPS IN. THINGS ARE ABOUT TO GET REAL UGLY WHEN CHAOS WOLF RUNS OUT WITH A STEEL CHAIR AND CRACKS HIROHITO WITH IT. ARIES SCATTERS BEFORE GETTING THE SAME AND "BODIES" BY DROWNING POOL PLAYS AS WEBBER CELEBRATES WITH WOLF. COLE MENTIONS THAT TRAVIS WAKEMAN's BIG ANNOUNCEMENT IS JUST MOMENTS AWAY. COMMERCIAL BREAK..... RETURN FROM BREAK.... RINGSIDE..... Fatal Four way elimination/#1 Contender for the Intercontinental Title Nails vs. Ultimo Dragon vs. Kid Gundam vs. Jon Heidenreich 4 men that have all had their run ins with Shane Thompson went at it in a hectic enviroment here. All 4 men were in the ring at once and they battled for nearly 8 minutes. After taking Gundam out of the ring with a clothesline, Nails turned into a kick to the gut from Heidenreich who then hit his spiral bomb for the first elimination. Ultimo and Gundam then teamed up to take on the huge Heidenreich but Shane Thompson came out with Luther Reigns. As Reigns got on the apron, referee Charles Robinson came over and Thompson got into the ring and cracked Gundam with his belt. Not knowing what had happened, Ultimo pinned him with a mandara hineri. Robinson turned and saw Thompson and forced him to get out of the ring. But this allowed Luther to come in and drill Ultimo with a straight kick to the head and Heidenreich then hit his spiral bomb on him for the victory. Thompson and Reigns left after literally hand picking the winner. Most fans were curious about this decision. Match Time: 13:08 FROM AN UNKNOWN SPOT, TRAVIS WAKEMAN WAS PUT ON CAMERA. Travis Wakeman: "First off, I want to say hello to everyone out there who has supported me over the years and helped me become the superstar I am in the TWF. A few weeks ago, I suffered a severe knee injury at the hands of Sean O'Haire. Now I know O'Haire has been going around talking about how he ended my career. Now I'm not gonna lie, my doctor told me I should think about retiring. But at this point, I just can't do that. So to answer the lingering question..... hell no I'm not gonna retire! Because I am gonna put off reconstructive surgery to come to MeltDown and face you O'Haire. There's an open contract which I've already signed. All you have to do is do the same. Oh and O'Haire, one last thing, you left out one part in that highlight video last week. And after MeltDown, when I kick the living hell out of you.... we can fix that". COMMERCIAL BREAK...... RETURN FROM BREAK.... RINGSIDE.... Million Dollar Challenge #4/20 Minute Ultimate Submission Charlie Haas w/ Ted Dibiase and Rhyno vs. Jordan Rockwell It was the last leg of the Million Dollar Challenge and both men knew what they had to do. They locked up and went to the mat where Haas excels. But Rockwell kept up with him move for move and after coming up with a clever escape from a body scissor, he locked in a Crossface. Fortunately for Haas, he was able to get to the ropes. Both men not only came up with, but survived multiple submission holds. Haas was never able to lock in the "Haas of Pain" but after ducking a clothesline, Rockwell hit the Extreme Measures before locking in the Tranquilizer. But there was only 15 seconds left and Dibiase yelled at Haas not to tap out. Haas beat the bell and held on, ending a brilliant 20 minutes with a 0-0 tie. Raven then came out to announce that since he didn't win, Rockwell would not get his rematch with Rhyno. But Rhyno got the house mic and said he is sick of all this, accepting the rematch with Rockwell anyway! A stunned Raven then watched Shane McMahon come out to announce that it would be a Stretcher match, the original match for TWF Payback. OFF AIR........
