Hello and welcome to the debut edition of "The Cain Connection". This column will be similar to my former column, "X marks his spot", which ran from July 14, 2007- August 5, 2008, because this column will feature many of the same segments of my former column, including "The Review", "Top 10", "News" and my personal favorite, the "Interview" segment. This column will differ from my previous column because instead of only reporting on developmental, this column will report on both Rampage and PrimeTime as well as a few brief notes from The Asylum. Today's edition of "The Cain Connection" will be all about the build up to Meltdown. We will review the current rivalries of the TWF which may or may not end at Meltdown. So now that the the top columnist of the TWF has returned, let's get down to business. To the review!
The Review
Let's start off with the rivalry between GeNext and the team of Austin Pyromania & Taylor Made. This all started a few weeks back when a fight broke out backstage between Candice and Kelly, which soon turned their tag teamS against each other. Jason Oliver recieved the first win over Austin Pyromania, and just one week later, M.X. defeated Taylor Made. As soon as that match had ended, we all found out that M.X. had traded Candice in for Stacy Keibler. On the last Rampage before Meltdown, Pyromania & Taylor Made mocked GeNext by dressing like them and after their easy victory, they continued to mock Genext until the young team appeared on stage and delivered many insults to Pyromania and Taylor Made in return. I think that Genext will win this one. Even though they are on the bad side of Roddy Piper and sometime soon you have to figure Candice will want her revenge. Despite that I believe the young tag team will prevail.
Now I want to take a look on how this triple threat match for the #1 contendership for the King of Cable title and how it came to be. This all started when Dylan Jansens was drafted to Rampage and made his debut on the June 9, 2008 edition of Rampage. During his speech to the fans, he was interrupted by Sebastian Cain who suggested the two team up, before Jansens could give an answer Sean O'Haire made his way out to insert himself in this "team", but when Jansens refused the offer he was attacked by Cain and O'Haire. Just one week later Jansens was defeated by Sebastian Cain. The following week the deck was stacked against Jansens as he lost to Cain and O'Haire in a handicapped match. Cain and O'Haire had formed an alliance that had lasted several weeks but this was the first time that O'Haire held Cain back so that he could get the win for the team. It was time to even the odds as D'Lo Brown stepped in to team with Jansens against the influential Sean O'Haire and Sebastian Cain. Once again Cain and O'Haire were victorious. On the last Rampage before Meltdown Sean O'Haire took on Dylan Jansens and even though Sebastian originally planned to fly back home, after a talk with O'Haire he stayed and watched the match at ringside. O'Haire picked up the win over Jansens. I think that Cain might be able to pull out yet another win here and become the number one contender for the King of Cable title. At least I really hope so.
Next up is the King of Cable Championship match. When ECW recognized J.J. Ramplin as the longest reigning King of Cable Champion in TWF history, it didn't turn out the way they had planned. The celebration was cut short by Axl Irvin who didn't waste any time in challenging Ramplin for the title. Which Ramplin was more than happy to accept. The next week Randy Orton teamed with The Ram in a winning effort against Axl Irvin and Chris Tirpak. On the Rampage right before Meltdown, Axl Irvin picked up a win over Trevor Murdoch, while Ramplin was on commentary, and as the match ended, Axl made his way to the broadcast table before attacking J.J. which led to a huge brawl. I think that J.J. being the longest reigning champ makes him the favorite in this match, I would love to see his reign continue but I also think if he does lose it, it might give him the chance to pursue the TWF Championship.
Since returning to the TWF, Travis Wakeman has been on a rampage, no pun intended. He has since defeated Vince McMahon, and since Roddy Piper now has power on Rampage, Wakeman will now take on Muhammad Hassan. A few weeks back, Ricky Steamboat held an interview with Wakeman, during the interview Wakeman blamed McMahon for his new killer instinct. Hassan made his return to the ring and defeated Lenny Armstead. This match will be an easy one for Wakeman. All I know is that I feel sorry for the next unfortunate individual who crosses paths with Travis Wakeman.
On the last Rampage before Meltdown, it was made official that Matt Cruz would face Carlito. A few weeks back Matt Cruz was thinking of retiring but after a slap from Carlito, Cruz changed his mind and in the same night, he attacked Carlito after his match with RVD. On the most recent Rampage, Cruz accepted the challenge by coming out as Carlito was holding a Cruz fan hostage, the two traded right hands.
Rampage will also put on a TWF Heavyweight Championship match which will be a fatal 4 way between Chris Masters, Money Mike, Rob Van Dam and Mr. Kennedy. This match was made by Roddy Piper and on that same Rampage, Mr. Kennedy and RVD defeated Money Mike and Eddie St. James, as the TWF Heavyweight champion was the guest referee. After the match, it was Masters who took out Mike with a chair shot. The rivalry continued over the next week and on the last Rampage before the PPV, Money Mike defeated Chris Masters when Monica inadvertently hit Masters with the chair, costing him the match. I dont know who could come out as champion in this one. The champion has 25% chance of winning this match, I don't know what to think of this.
On to the PrimeTime side of things, the newly formed United Nations takes on the Tag Team champions Rockwell and Michaels with the titles on the line. Since forming, the United Nations has been focused on trying to take the tag belts from the current champs but they have ran into a few road blocks, Rockwell defeated Harry Smith, then the next week Paul Burchill defeated Shawn Michaels. On the last show before MeltDown, Rockwell, Michaels and Finlay teamed up against three men from the United Nations. Even though the tag champs and Finlay were outnumbered by Regal and Katie Lea at ringside, they were able to get the win. If things go the way I'm thinking after Meltdown, we might have new tag team champions.
We now have a few more matches signed right before the event takes place, first is Joe Corey taking on The Undertaker, in what should be a great match. This all started when Corey wanted to make an impact and try to fire up the PrimeTime side of ECW, now even though he didn't motivate ECW the way he had hoped, he sure made an impact and at Meltdown, Joe Corey may have his work cut out for him.
After weeks of waiting, John Cena is going to get his shot at Tito Ortiz. Ortiz has cost Cena a few matches over the last month with JBL and at Meltdown, Cena might be able to get some payback on Tito Ortiz.
Also signed was a Monsters Ball match with Kevin Thorn defending his Intercontinental Championship against Mark Henry, Umaga and Nails. This has been one of the more stranger fueds in the TWF but it should seem out of the ordinary when the stars competing in the match are anything but ordinary. I'm glad to see Thorn defend his Intercontinental title, and for Thorn to retain at Meltdown he is going to have to fight an uphill battle.
And finally in the TWF Universal Championship match Chaos Wolf Challenges Edge. These two have been ivolved with each other for a while but this really heated up when Edge was attacked by Wolf in the parking garage when Wolf planted a decoy mannequin in Edge's car. The next week, Edge recruited the help of the huge Italian Aldo Corleone. In the beggining of the night, Edge had the upper hand and at the conclusion of the show, Chaos Wolf had beaten Aldo with a chair. Wolf sent Edge an invite but Edge didn't want him on that night. On the final show before MeltDown, we found out that Edge had hired the services of the newcomer to the TWF, Samaiel, who attacked Wolf after the match . I'm not sure who will win this one but this rivalry has gone back and forth, and at times it has been very odd. It seems that Edge has two tough guys in his corner for his match, the question is what role will they play at Meltdown?

Okay finally the column is winding down, and it is just about time with "The Cain Connection's" first interview with GeNext member Jason Oliver.
Interview
Cain: "In case some people might not know, what is the purpose of GeNext"?
Jason Oliver: "The purpose of GeNext is to give hope to all the younger wrestlers out there that just aren't getting on the card because of older wrestlers who are past their prime. You look around the locker room and it looks like we're in a freaking museum. All those dinosaurs walking around, it's ridiculous".
Cain: "What is in the future for GeNext? Possibly Tag titles"?
Oliver: "No, me and M.X are not a tag team. GeNext isn't a tag team. GeNext is an ideal we both hold very highly. We've both won tag titles, it's just not something ether of us wants to do again. At least right now. We have more important things to do right now. Too many older guys still keeping the young guys down".
Cain: "How long can we expect this alliance between yourself and M.X. to last"?
Oliver: "You got to understand me and M.X. aren't all that alike. We don't dress the same, we don't talk the same, and we don't like the same things. What we do is we have a common ideal. And as long as that ideal is front and center you will never, EVER see GeNext split".
Cain: "Obviously you don't care much for the veterans of the TWF, do you see any younger stars that you think will make it to the top"?
Oliver: "P.J. Cash is amazing. You watch that guy and the way he moves In that ring, he is simply amazing. Sebastian Cain is also extremely good. He really impressed me, still he's got no style. He's a block of wood. He fixes that and there is nothing but gold in his future".
Cain: "What do you think about your opponents for Meltdown, Taylor Made & Austin Pyromania"?
Oliver: "You know what, I'll let my ring work do the talking in that area. All I know is that I get my choke on either of them, and just like everyone else, they're tapping out".
Cain: "Put yourself in a TWF veteran's shoes, what do you do"?
Oliver: "Get the hell out of my ring. You are not going to see Jason Oliver doing this forever. As soon as I can't go one hundred percent and do it at the level I can do it at now, I'm done, good bye. See you never".
Cain: "Alright, do you have any unanswered questions left you wish to address? Or maybe a closing statement"?
Oliver: "Okay three things. I want everyone to go and watch the tapes of every last pay-per-view of last year. From this MeltDown to the last one. Have I lost? No. second thing is that Tirpak wins one match, one freaking match, and suddenly he's the man. He's a giant joke that needs to get the hell out of my ring. And the last thing that the King of Sting has to say is that this is my world, you people just live in it".
I would like to first off thank my interview guest today, Jason Oliver and I would also like to say I look forward to putting out a new Cain Connection in about a month. Thanks for reading.
