The LowDown

June 3, 2004

It's time once again for the new Smartass of the Squared Circle to give you the LowDown on the Primetime Brand!! I'm going to hit you with something different this time around, so let's go.

Power. Who really has it? It's the one thing in life, other than money and sex, that everyone jones' for. It also corrupts absolutely. Despite what outsiders may think, the wrestling world is a microcosim of our society. Good vs Evil, right and wrong, the ability to be in control. All those wars are fought in our domain. That couldn't be more true on the Primetime side of the TWF universe. The way I see it, three men fight and wage war amongst themselves for what they need, for what they crave: Power.

Jordan Rockwell came into the TWF as a 24 year old rookie intent on setting the world on fire. Not too many of the veterans took him seriously because, as they saw it, he was a wet behind the ears rook who hadn't paid any dues. You can't hold talent down, that's what I always say. He became one of the fastest rising superstars in the history of the business. He can also be considered the future of the TWF. Someone the company can be built around. He's already captured the Universal title, and anyone suggesting more and longer reigns with that title, won't be accused of crazy talk. Being discussed as the future centerpiece of the company, don't you think that entitles him to a little stroke around here? In time, he WILL be the top dog around here, but he still has to go through some of the biggest names and legends to get there.

Travis Wakeman has been there since the beggining. He has seen it all and done it all. His matches and feuds are stuff that will be talked about for a long time. It's not a stretch to say he's ruled over the TWF for years. To lose him to a rival company or to injury would be a huge blow to this organazation. With this much power in the company, he can pretty much do whatever he wants. Vince or Shane would have to be brain dead to fire him. He even took control of Primetime from Shane McMahon for a time. He has the ability to make or break stars just by wrestling them. If the inmates run the asylum, you could probably call him the Warden. In the end, though, no one is bigger than the company. It would be hard, but the company will go on and thrive when he decides to call it a career.

Shane McMahon has many nicknames, The Boy Wonder, The Heir Apparent, and so on. It seems that being a wrestilng genius is in the genes. When his daddy Vince hands the company to him, I don't think he could find a better successor than his own son. He's also as physically tough as he is mentally smart. He proved that by winning the 2000 King of the Ring. Shane is apsycho bump taker and it's a wonder that he's not in a wheelchair by now. He's proven time and again that he will go above and beyond to give the fans what they want. I guess that's also a family trait. However, it's not up to him to tell the fans what they want. People don't want to be dictated to, as far as who to cheer for or boo. The fans will tell him what to put on the air. It's up to him to figure out what they want to see, and for the fans to approve of it.

In the end, the one who controls all the power is real simple: You, the fans. Without you, there would be no company, and I would be out of a job!! You decide who will be the big stars, what are going to be the hot storylines, if we make a lot of money. So believe me, we're grateful. I believe I made my point, so I just want to say thank you to the fans. I hope we continue to provide you with even more awesome entertainment in the future. In the meantime, I'll see you at ringside.
