The A-List

April 24, 2005

Well Folks it's that time again for another edition of the A-List. Like the last edition, I am going to evaluate 3 guys from Primetime and 3 guys from Rampage and at the end of the column, I will have an exclusive interview with Travis Wakeman. First though I want to comment on the whole GSE situation. When I first found out that GSE was now under TWF control I didn't like it. The more I thought about it though the more I got excited. We get to see stars from both GSE and TWF go at it. I think this could be one of the most interesting things ever to happen in TWF and I am looking forward to it. Now back to the column and lets start off with Rampage.

"The Show" Joe Corey-Rampage

It seems like whenever I do the A-List Corey always seems to find his name on it. This time is no exception, and like I've said, he is so impressive it's unbelieveable. Not only did he win at WrestleMania to keep his King of Cable title, but he beat one of the best athletes ever, the Heart Break Kid Shawn Michaels. Yes Carney did play a role, but I don't think it would of mattered that night because Corey was on fire. As for matches coming up for Corey I see him going into a short stint with Carney for a little bit, but then I am thinking he will get a shot against Cena and that feud could go down in history as one of the best feuds in a long time. As for his grade, well I have been against giving guys an A+ Without being the top star, but I am sick and tired of giving him an A so it's time Corey gets his A+ and thats what he gets!

Kurt Angle- Rampage

Kurt Angle went into mania knowing he had the chance of choosing his own destiny if he could win the match that let's you do that, and that is exactly what he did. He outlasted 5 other guys and now the future is in his hands. I am thinking that he will stay on Rampage and may go after that world title for a little bit. That would be a great match between Angle and Cena, or maybe he may start something up with Karam Ibrahim, everyone knows their past and that would be one hell of a feud as well. As for Angle's grade I am going to give him a B+, that may seem low but for right now I think it's good. Plus he is on his way up the ladder.

Drew Blood- Rampage

I was disapointed in Drew. Maybe I just made him out to be too good. For a while there, I thought he couldn't be defeated. Well not only did he lose at Wrestlemania 6 to John Cena, but the Rampage after that he lost to Nemesis. Maybe it was the talk with Wakeman, but Nemesis looked like he was on a mission and he pulled off a gigantic upset in my mind. I don't see Blood letting this go though, that's why I think Nemesis and Blood will continue a feud to go on for many Rampage's to come. As for a Grade, I give him a B-, now remember this is just his grade until my last comlumn not in the last 2 months or anything.

Jordan Rockwell- Primetime

Going into Mania I knew Rockwell wouldn't let me down, I just knew his team would win. I just knew they would get the job done. It did come with a price though because Chaos Wolf is now out for a little bit of time. Ever since this whole New breed vs. Old breed thing happened J Rock has risen to the occasion. He has showed that he again can be the top star in this business and I believe it may be time for him to step it up a notch and start main eventing and stuff. As for a grade he gets B+, I'm gonna pull a Joe Namath and guarantee that grade will rise by my next colmun. Then again I write the column so I can gaurantee anything.

Edge- Primetime

Edge is very interesting, he has been on a hot streak as of late and has been in one of the best feuds in TWF with Axl Irvin. This feud has lasted for months now and finally came to a close at Wrestlemania when he beat Axl in a blood bath barbed wire ladder match. So what does he do? He throws away the title on the very next edition of Primetime. He did gain a chance at becoming a contender for that Universal title though and now for his future it has to do with Jordan Rockwell, that's why I didn't say what Rockwell's future was cause these 2 go together. I think they will fight at Foul Play to determine the Number one contender and I am thinking Rockwell wins it. Edge will get a B though, I would have given him a better grade but he threw away a championship.

Batista- Primetime

Batista has been on a roll as of late. Taking out anyone in his path. I think he may be ready to start fighting for that IC belt soon but that's not what I see him doing. I see him breaking away from Mike Austin and Flair which I know Austin won't like so those 2 will go at it at Foul Play and you know Ric will have a say in that match. After that though I think Batista is going to become a major player on Primetime or get drafted and leave Primetime. As for his grade, since he didn't fight at mania and doesn't have a title I give him a C+.

Recap

"The Show" Joe Corey- A+

Kurt Angle- B+

Drew Blood- B-

Jordan Rockwell- B+

Edge- B

Batista- C+

And the honor student goes to..... The Show Joe Corey! Now it's time for my exclusive one on one interview with Travis Wakeman.

Andy- The days before Wrestlemania what did you do, what went through your mind going through a match that most people thought you had no chance of winning?

Travis Wakeman- I've been an underdog before, so it only drives me to win when people think I can't. In the days leading up to the match, I got no sleep, nothing but training and preparing myself mentally, that was the key.

Andy- After going through your match with Undertaker, what are your feelings towards him?

Travis Wakeman- The Undertaker is one of the greatest of all time and probably the toughest guy I've ever faced. I've got nothing but respect for him.

Andy- Will you be going back to Primetime now?

Travis Wakeman- I have actually been elected to stay on Rampage.

Andy- What are your feelings towards Hulk Hogan?

Travis Wakeman- Hogan is the greatest of all time in my opinion. As a young fan, I was definitely a yellow and red bleedin' Hulkamaniac.

Andy- What do you consider to be your greatest match and accomplishment?

Travis Wakeman- That's a good question. There are several that stick out for me but none more than WrestleMania five against the Hulkster. My greatest accomplishment..... making Ken Shamrock tap out. I still love that one.

Andy- What are your thoughts on TWF and GSE becoming together and Money Mike beating Vince at Wrestlemania 6?

Travis Wakeman- I think what used to be the GSE brings some interesting things to the table, as long as they stay in line. I'm not surprised Money Mike won at Mania either.

Andy- What does the future hold for Travis Wakeman?

Travis Wakeman-Well it started with the draft. Now that I'm a full time part of Rampage, there are many avenues I can take. There's still some things I wanna accomplish in my career and there are still some people I wanna get into the ring with.

Well there you have it folks, another column in the books, I hope you enjoyed!
