Diano's 2 Cents

May 11, 2005

It's time once again for everyone's favorite column..................... mine! So kids put your parents to bed cause the show is about to begin.

RAMPAGE

1. John Cena's title reign: As a Cena fan, I am glad to see him as TWF champion, but I think he has a lot more to worry about now than ever. He has a seriously large amount of guys gunning for him with the likes of Joe Corey, Austin Pyromania, Kurt Angle, Drew Blood and countless others.

2. Guys on a roll: Speaking of guys gunning for the TWF title, I think the two biggest threats are the two guys that have been on a roll. Kurt Angle and Joe Corey have been hot as of late and they both have legit challenges. Angle is a former TWF champion whose amatuer backround will give Cena a problem. Corey on the other hand holds numerous wins over the champ, one of which was Corey's first reign as King of Cable champion.

3. Wakeman on Rampage: Following the TWF draft, Travis Wakeman found himself the number two pick for Stephanie McMahon's brand, which was a bonus seeing as how last year he lost the right to challenge for the Universal title on PrimeTime.

PRIMETIME

1. Unlikely title reigns: Over the past few months PrimeTime has seen some unlikely people become champion and then dominate their defenses. In the past we have seen Shane Thompson become Universal champion defeating men everyone did not think he had a chance to beat, then we have seen Sean O'haire become the Intercontinental champion and walk into his defenses and either out con his opponents or just outright beat others that once again no one thought he would. And then we have the simply spectacular Paul London showing his heart in the ring in his winning and defending his newly acquired lightheavyweight title.

2. Out of the past: Recently we have also been witness to Jordan Rockwell's past coming back to bite him in the butt, with long time friends like Rhyno and Edge turning on him and others like Sean O'haire outright disrespect him. This goes to show that old saying is true when they say be wary of the past cause you'll be doomed to repeat it.

3. On his own: I must say that it is good to see Batista on his own and away from Ric Flair and Mike Cirriani cause in my opinion the only thing holding the animal down was the two anchors he just got done dropping.

Slaughterhouse, SMW and Asylum

The past few weeks have been going well for all three of these shows with their top guys still showing why they are on top and their on the rise talent showing why they have bright futures.

Sound off: This month's sound off topic is the TWF's overseas events which would bring all three brands to foreign countries and what will bring the latest addition Asylum also with hopes of SMW following. Joe Corey: "I personally love taking part in international tours. In places like Europe and Japan, I am respected for what I do in this ring. Here in America, if you aren't playing to the fans, then they just write you off. It isn't just the fans, there are people in the locker rooms who still kiss up to these jackholes. Take Chaos Wolf for example. He likes to speak publically about his feelings towards my methods in this ring. My response to that is the title I carry out to the ring with me night after night. The money, the power, the prestige that it comes attached to being a champion, I would give my mother up for that, forget about the rules and the fans. I will do whatever I need to do to keep this title, or to win the World Championship one day as well. Around the world, that is looked at as greatness, but here in the U.S., it is looked at as dishonorable. To hell with these American fans, I would take a Japanese crowd any day".

Austin Plavljanich (smw commisioner): "Overseas tours are excellent in my book, crowd is always hot, not only do they generate good sales, it also helps my boys get used to performing in front of different people, not just the same people every week".

Jason Oliver: "I like the idea, it lets people from diffrent countries see the TWF and of course all of them see the ever perfect Jason Oliver".

Jordan Rockwell: "The overseas events are a great part of the TWF since it gives us a chance to connect with a diffrent variety of fans, we always meet interesting and very unique people but they are very loyal and excited when we come to whatever area we come to and I think sometimes more so than when we are in the states. It is so exciting to say that I am only a twenty seven year old man and yet I have traveled around the world and back again with the TWF. I have the greatest job in the world, meeting the fans in places like England, Mexico, Japan, Australia and others is a great time for me when I get to do the autograph sessions and meet the fans and then seeing the difference from their version of wrestling and what we have in the United States is amazing".

That's all the time for this month kids so until next time, this is ya boy jd and I am telling you till next time, enjoy the anticipation, cause I'll be everything you dreamed I would be................ AND THEN SOME!!!!!!!!!!!!
