Edition #2
"By the fans, for the fans"
April 17, 2007
A retrospective of the TWF’s first ever fan interactive pay per view, Anarchy Rulz 2006.
Hola amigos and welcome to another edition of the Cash Flow, once again I’m your host with the most, Peter Cash. We here at the Flow believe it is important to take a look back once in a while. Take a look back at events that got us to where we are today, and we here plan on doing many retro TWF PPV reviews in the future, but what better one to start out with than one of the most unique in TWF history!
The scene is set......
July 30th, 2006.......
Pepsi Center, Denver Colorado......
The show starts out as always, amazing video package letting us know that tonight is your night, that’s right you the fans, something the TWF specializes in. We then head inside the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado which is absolutely rocking as pyro goes off left and right and Jim Ross and The King take us into our first contest of the night.
Without a doubt it was a blowout that night as hair versus hair won with an astonishing 60% of the vote!
Carlito versus Mark Henry
Now no doubt on this night Carlito wasn’t too keen on the possibility of losing his Brillo Pad, and on paper this definitely seems like a mismatch. But Carlito showed his huge heart and his run and gun quick offense to catch the big man off guard. A very good back and forth opener and Henry got in his usual powerhouse offense. But somehow Carlito connected with his unorthodox Back Cracker, much to the jubilance of the fans and he picked up the win!
Carlito had a huge smile on his face and he was handed the clippers! He then proceeded to humiliate the Worlds Strongest Man and shave him bald! Oh and of course Carlito doesn’t leave until he gets to spit apple in the face of Henry, much to the applause of the crowd!
Backstage Segment: Jimmy Hart begs not to be chosen as Max Ogden’s opponent, but on this night it wasn’t up to TWF officials, superstars, or owners. 50% of the vote didn’t lie and Hart had to step in the ring with one of the TWF’s fastest rising stars.
“ The Memory Maker” Max Ogden vs “The Mouth of the South” Jimmy Hart
Very cool match to see Ogden get some much warranted revenge. It was funny to see Hart try to scramble away after the rake of the eyes, but to no avail. He couldn’t avoid “The Memory Maker” and there was no kicking out for the “Mouth of the South”.
After the match another historic thing took place, as Jake Roberts helped Max fend off an attack by Sylvain Grenier, and then the two shake hands much to the surprise of many, but a great moment nonetheless.
Next match was absolutely amazing to witness, I’m pretty sure it was one of the most brutal TLC matches ever!
TLC Match won by an astounding 84%!
The Spirit Squad: Kenny and Nicky w/Mitch, Mikey, Johnny Jeter, and Ashley K. Vs. The Hardy Boyz
This match had the fans on the edge of their seats all the way through, and there was non stop action at all times. This very well could have been considered a handicapped match, because at certain points the Hardyz were held down by the other members of the Squad. What we would come to see is one of the most amazing spots in the history of the TWF. A 20 foot painter’s ladder was set up, and Kenny climbed up it, even intimidated a bit himself. As the other members of the Spirit Squad held Jeff Hardy down on a table, Kenny flew off through him breaking it to pieces as well as probably Jeff’s back. Nicky covered him in the ring and after 12 or so minutes of action, they pick up the amazing victory.
That match left many fans with the same feelings as I did first watching it, Holy Shit!
Now, the following contest was for the prestigious King of Cable championship. And it was chosen to be a Steel Cage match by 45% of the fans. And it is one I still look back on to this day.
Challenger/ Rey Mysterio vs. K.O.C Champion- Jason Oliver
This match was great with a lot of back and forth action, but at one point Oliver seemed to have a sound strategy, and began working on the legs of Mysterio, using moves like a shin breaker and even the Figure Four to slow the speed demon down. Oliver then attempted to get out, but Rey hobbled over and grabbed his foot, but got kicked away. Oliver made the mistake of coming off the cage wall with an axe handle, but he was then sidestepped and given a dropkick, giving Mysterio an opening. After a few more minutes of non stop chaos, the battle took to the top of the cage. This was Oliver’s downfall as he was given a hurricanrana and he fell all the way to the mat below and crashed to the mat as Rey got himself out of the cage for what must have been considered an upset.
The fans get another treat tonight as we have crowned a new TWF K.O.C Champion, and I guess on that night the soon to be recognized King of Sting underestimated the little man with the huge heart.
Up next was a clash of shows as Slaughterhouse looked to beat some Respect out of Rampage.
Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit representing SH against Shelton Benjamin and Sylvester Terkay representing Rampage.
This was one hell of a wrestling match as expected, when you have four of the most gifted athletes in the TWF in the same ring, it is bound to happen. But towards the finish, it most definitely escalated from a wrestling match into a brawl, but in the end, the Crossface was too much for Benjamin to overcome and Slaughterhouse proved to be dominant on this night.
Up next Sam Wilde got the opportunity to come back if he were able to defeat Money Mike.
Sam Wilde 47% of the vote versus Money Mike w/ Stephanie McMahon
Mike didn’t seem too worried here as before the match even started, he seemed to laugh off the challenge. But it was not without a fight as eventually Wilde saw an opening and he took it. He even had Mike set up for his old submission hold, The Call of the Wilde, but Mike used his versatility to escape, and eventually finish his opponent off with his always dangerous Money Pit for the victory.
And now it was main event time, as High Octane who many considered a long shot to even be in the TWF World Title match, faces off against possibly the greatest of his time, Travis Wakeman.
TWF World Championship Match
“High Octane” Damion West 55% of the vote versus TWF Champion- Travis Wakeman w/ Melina
Now throughout the entire grueling feud these two men had last year, in my opinion only believe this to be the best match they had. It was amazing watching the chemistry unfold and the fans couldn’t stay on their asses as the champ and challenger battled it out. Octane even hit the Head on Collision earlier in the match but amazingly, Wakeman kicked out. The one thing that may have hurt Travis Wakeman on this night is that he couldn’t quite get West with the Royal Flush. Eventually, West delivered with a super kick from out of NOWHERE and fell into a cover. And, controversial finish and all, Damion West was yet again crowned TWF Champion.
What an amazing night this was and it will be remembered for years to come. It was an event that gave superstars second chances, opportunities to come into their own, get revenge, and live their dreams. It also shows how far the TWF will go to please their fans, and it is only a piece of what could be in store for the future. If last year's event was any indication, I can only imagine what this year’s event will be like. Well as much as I know it disappoints you, it is time for this edition to come to a close. So like I always say that’s a rap, until next time.
