Vince McMahon:"Ah hell, who is it"? VAL VENIS COMES IN Val Venis:"Listen Vince, I'm sick and tired of being held down here. I've beat everybody and I want the respect I deserve! Hell, maybe I should go to WCW, they'd give me a shot"! Vince: (looks angry)"Now calm down pal! I ain't in the mood for that tonight! But you're right, you have been impressive the last few months so I'll tell ya what, since the Intercontinental title is now vacant, I'll throw your name in the hat of top contenders. Now get the hell out of my office"! VAL TURNS AND LEAVES. THE ARENA IS THEN SHOWN AS FIREWORKS GO OFF FOR ABOUT A MINUTE. Jonathan Coachman:"Mr. McMahon seems just a little on edge tonight Brain". Bobby Heenan:"Well what do you expect ya dummy? His wife will be here later to make a statement that I'm sure he's not gonna like". THE BRUTILE BULLDOG's MUSIC HITS AS HE AND TERRI APPEAR. THE KING OF THE RING LOGO THEN APPEARS ON THE SCREEN. Coachman:"Well Brain, big night here on Saturday Night's Main Event. Not only will Linda make her big announcement but the King of the Ring tournament gets under way with four qualifying matches". "ENTER SANDMAN" BY METALLICA HITS AS DUKE WILLIAMS COMES OUT. Heenan:"The winner of this one will be the first man to qualify". Coachman:"Earlier this week on RAW, we saw Duke Williams join this new group The Confederation and it looks like they'll be a force to reckon with". King of the Ring Qualifying Match The Brutile Bulldog vs. Duke Williams Both of these guys had their struggles early. After a fallaway slam, the much bigger and stronger Williams got the first advantage. But after a miscue off the middle turnbuckle, the Bulldog put him down with a spinebuster. He followed that with a piledriver and a scoop slam into another piledriver. He then went up top and came off with a guillotine leg drop but Williams rolled out of the way. Williams was in perfect position to put the Buldog away but his attention was caught by Terri getting up on the apron and flashing him. Williams made a rookie mistake by going towards her and the Bulldog came from behind and hit him in the back of the head with a nasty uppercut. Williams crumpled to the ground and the Bulldog covered him, hooked the leg deep and got the pin to advance. Match Time: 5:26 Coachman:"Well with the help of Terri, the Bulldog has pulled off somewhat of an upset and advanced to the round of sixteen". Heenan:"That proves that she's a great asset to have at ringside. Great eye candy too"! X-FACTOR's MUSIC BY CRACKER HITS AS JUSTIN CREDIBLE COMES OUT WITH TORI. Coachman:"Interesting matchup here as members of X-Factor make their way to the ring". WEAPON R's MUSIC HITS Heenan:"Two very different wrestlers here but Credible has some help with him". Justin Credible vs. Weapon R As the match started, it became clear that Weapon R was alot quicker than Credible. But after he grabbed Credible from behind, Credible caught him with a mule kick. Referee Teddy Long gave him a warning and said he'd be DQ'd if it occured again. Weapon R then hit Credible with a series of martial arts kicks and was set to put him away when Tori got up on the apron and distracted Long as X-Pac got into the ring. Weapon R caught X-Pac with a roundhouse but was lowblowed again by Credible who rolled him up with a small package as Long turned around and made the count. Match Time: 4:08 Coachman:"Oh come on! See, all these people should not be allowed at ringside"! AS X-FACTOR WAS STILL IN THE RING, THE ACOLYTES CAME OUT AND HIT BOTH X-PAC AND CREDIBLE WITH DOUBLE POWERBOMBS. TORI HURRIED BACKSTAGE AS THE CROWD WENT NUTS. Heenan:"Oh, I suppose that was okay though"! Coachman:"X-Factor had that coming after jumping The Acolytes on RAW"! FOOTAGE OF BAHAMUT BEING ATTACKED BY COBRA IS SHOWN AS AN UNFAMILIAR ENTRANCE SONG HITS. COBRA MAKES HIS WAY TO THE RING. Coachman:"Well we saw this man attack Bahamut on RAW and then ask if he remembers him. What's going on here Brain"? STEVE BLACKMAN's MUSIC HITS Heenan:"Well he's obviously a man Bahamut screwed or double crossed in the past". Coachman:"Steve Blackman's gonna provide the opposition here for Cobra but hopefully we'll learn more on this situation soon". Cobra vs. Steve Blackman This was a good, back and forth match. Cobra showed a lot of versatility in his in ring debut. He used hard right hands to wear Blackman down and then flew out of the ring with a suicide dive. But Blackman got back in it with a footsweep-thrust chop combo and moments later, nearly made him tap out in a butterfly lock. But Blackman ran at Cobra and got caught and dropped over the top rope. He followed that with the "Venom Drop" to get the win. Match Time: 12:39 AS COBRA WALKED BACKSTAGE, BAHAMUT AMBUSHED HIM WITH A STEEL CHAIR. HE THEN DELIVERED THE "CRUSHER" ON THE HARD FLOOR! Heenan:"What is Bahamut thinkin? Is he tryin' to kill the man"? Coachman:"Well it's apparent that there's an ugly history between these two men and it's obviously very personal"! PRIOR TO COMMERCIAL.... VINCE's OFFICE.... VINCE AND HIS ALLIANCE WATCH FOOTAGE OF STRIFE TALKING TO KANE ON RAW. Vince:"Ya see that? We need to put those two out. We don't need any more alliances against us". Electric Coma:"Understood boss". COMMERCIAL.... A COMMERCIAL FOR THE NEW TOYOTA CAMRY IS SHOWN. RETURN FROM BREAK... BACKSTAGE..... KANE IS IN HIS DRESSING ROOM WHEN ELECTRIC COMA COMES IN AND RAMS HIM HEAD FIRST INTO A LOCKER. HE CONTINUES TO ASSAULT HIM UNTIL STRIFE COMES IN TO HELP. SUDDENLY, TAJIRI COMES IN AND HITS STRIFE IN THE BACK OF THE HEAD WITH A STEEL CHAIR. ELECTRIC COMA AND TAJIRI THEN LEAVE. Heenan:"Didn't take them long to follow Vince's orders"! "YOU THINK YOU KNOW ME" HITS AS EDGE COMES OUT. Coachman:"How does Vince figure they're forming a group to wage war against him? Anyway, this will be our second King of the Ring qualifying match and get this Brain, Edge has asked Christian to stay in the back". SHAWN STASIAK's MUSIC HITS AS HE COMES OUT WITH MISS HANCOCK. Heenan:"Well I think that's a mistake, especially against a guy like Stasiak". King of the Ring Qualification Match Edge vs. Shawn "The Star" Stasiak This one started out in Stasiak's favor as the well conditioned athlete took it to Edge. He hit him with a delayed suplex and then a cradle suplex. He had Edge set up for a fisherman suplex but Edge jabbed him in the ribs to escape. He then caught him with a nice hurracanrana which was a huge momentum swinger. Edge then hit Stasiak with an enziguri when Miss Hancock tried to get involved. Stasiak tried to clothesline Edge from behind as Edge watched Miss Hancock dance but Edge turned around just in time, ducked and then dropped Stasiak with an awesome electric chair drop to get the win. Match Time: 4:43 Coachman:"Well Edge has just surprised Stasiak and look at Miss Hancock, she doesn't look happy"! Heenan:"Of course she doesn't! Stasiak had to be one of the favorites and he's already out"! BACKSTAGE..... VINCE's OFFICE.... THERE's A KNOCK AT THE DOOR. Vince:"Now who is it"? MIKE NORTON COMES IN WITH SPICE. Norton:"Did you see what happened on RAW? How the hell did a WCW wrestler get into the building and attack me during my match"? Vince:"Yes I saw it and I've already talked with security and I can assure you that no WCW wrestler will ever get into another TWF show". NORTON AND SPICE LEAVE HIS OFFICE. EDGE COMES INTO HIS DRESSING ROOM STILL PERSPIRING FROM HIS MATCH. CHRISTIAN IS SITTING ON A BENCH LACING HIS BOOTS. Edge:"You see my match"? Christian:"No man, I just got here. Hey where were you on RAW when Rockwell slapped the taste out of my mouth and hit me with "Extreme Measures"? Edge:"I had stuff to do bro. You shouldn't have smarted off to him". Christian:"Well I'm gonna beat him tonight to advance in King of the Ring". Edge:"You mean like I already have"? Christian:"Well don't bother coming out there. I wanna beat him alone". Edge:"Okay, well I'll just leave then". Christian:"Fine then". Edge:"Fine" (he walks out) Heenan:"What is with those two"? STEVE CORINO's MUSIC HITS Coachman:"Well get this Brain, due to what occured earlier tonight, Strife has demanded to defend the Hardcore title against Tajiri". YUJI MATASAMO's MUSIC HITS Heenan:"That'll be brutal and here comes the former lightheavyweight champ and he's got a big challenge in front of him here". Steve Corino vs. Yuji Matasamo Corino looked very good in this one as he picked the former lightheavyweight champ apart. After absorbing several hard knife edge chops and a big superkick, Corino used 2 consecutive leg whips. He then went for his "Corino Driver" but Matasamo blocked it. Corino then spun him around, hooked his arms back and delivered a beautiful tiger suplex into a bridge pin to pull out the win. Match Time: 3:21 Coachman:"That's an important win for Corino, getting a pinfall victory against a former champion". SUDDENLY, MATASAMO RESUMED THE FIGHT, GETTING THE BEST OF CORINO UNTIL RHYNO CAME FLYING OUT AND SLAMMED HIM WITH THE "GORE". Heenan:"Oh my gosh! This manbeast is impressive and along with Corino, form a great team! Keep your eye on these two"! "I AM" BY EMINEM HITS AS MIKE NORTON, TEST AND SPICE COME OUT. Coachman:"Well we're ready for tag team action as you see members of the Reluctance of Society on their way to the ring. Now earlier tonight, we saw Mike Norton go to Mr. McMahon himself". THE SOUND OF A BOMB DROPPING IS HEARD FOLLOWED BY THE DUDLEY BOYZ' MUSIC. BUH BUH, D-VON AND SPIKE ALL COME OUT. Heenan:"Well Norton was attacked by a WCW wrestler on RAW. He's just making sure it doesn't happen again". Coachman:"Well the Dudleys still have a score to settle with this group after what's happened over the last couple of weeks". Mike Norton and Test vs. The Dudley Boyz This was a long, tag team war. It was one of the better tag team matches all year and it could've gone either way. Both teams hit many big moves which were broken up. Buh Buh dropped Test with his "Buh Buh Cutter" but Norton made the save. Later on, Norton and Test hit D-Von with one of the best double team moves in awhile when Norton powerbombed D-Von as Test came off the top rope with his big elbow drop at the same time. But in the end, it was team continuity that prevailed. After weathering the storm, The Dudleys hit Norton with the "Dudley Device" and Test walked right into the "Dudley Death Drop" and D-Von hooked the leg for the 1-2-3. Match Time: 24:27 BUT SUDDENLY, JERRY LYNN CAME OUT OF THE AUDIENCE AND ATTACKED SPIKE. HE THEN HANDED TEST A CHAIR AND HE IN TURN TOOK OUT BUH BUH AND D-VON WITH IT. Coachman:"What's this all about"? NORTON GRABS A MIC. Norton:"Well it looks like we've got another"! NORTON TOSSES AN ROS T-SHIRT TO LYNN AND HE PUTS IT ON! Heenan:"Jerry Lynn has joined the Reluctance of Society"! PRIOR TO COMMERCIAL.... BACKSTAGE.... EDGE IS WALKING TOWARDS THE EXIT WHEN HE COMES BY DREW BLOOD's DRESSING ROOM AND SEES THE OPEN CONTRACT TAPED TO THE DOOR. EDGE LOOKS AROUND AND THEN TAKES A PENCIL OUT OF HIS DUFFEL BAG AND WRITES ON THE CONTRACT. HE THEN WALKS OUT OF THE ARENA AS THE CAMERA GETS A CLOSEUP OF THE CONTRACT. ON THE CHALLENGER LINE IT SAYS EDGE. OTHER SIDE OF THE ARENA.... Mean Gene Okerlund:"Alright guys, I'm here with Jessica Lopez and Ms. Lopez, on RAW we saw you cost Jordan Rockwell a match when you tossed Shawn Stasiak a pair of brass knuckles. What caused you to do this"? Jessica Lopez:"Jordan Rockwell is a filthy pig! For the record Gene, he and I don't have that type of relationship. He asked me to help develop his career but if he wants to fool around with Lita he can do it without me". Okerlund:"So where does that leave you in the TWF"? Lopez:"Well Gene, I'm not gonna be a valet for anyone. Right now, I'm gonna concentrate on becoming Queen of the Ring". COMMERCIAL.... A COMMERCIAL FOR 1-800-CALL ATT IS SHOWN. RETURN FROM BREAK.... "YOU THINK YOU KNOW ME" HITS AS CHRISTIAN COMES OUT. Coachman:"We're back and we're ready for another King of the Ring qualifier"! FOOTAGE OF JORDAN ROCKWELL ATTACKING CHRISTIAN ON RAW IS SHOWN AS "THE KINGS" BY RUN DMC HITS. JORDAN ROCKWELL COMES OUT WITH LITA. Heenan:"Look at this! Rockwell's already got a new valet"! Who will advance to the round of sixteen"? King of the Ring Qualification Match Christian vs. Jordan Rockwell Rockwell seemed to have new confidence with Lita at ringside as he had one of his best performances of his short career. After dropping Christian with a torture rack drop, he drained a lot of energy with an abdominal stretch before catching him with a huge powerslam. But suddenly, Christian caught him with a dropkick that sent him through the ropes. He then knocked him off the apron into the barracade, changing the complexion of the match. But Lita came to his aid and quickly helped him recover. After dodging a baseball slide attempt, Rockwell pulled Christian to the floor by his feet. He then rolled him in and hit him with a version of "Extreme Measures" off the top rope to pick up the victory. Match Time: 5:21 Coachman:"What a move! Well Edge has advanced in the tournament and Christian is out. Rockwell seems like a new man with Lita out here". Heenan:"Wouldn't you"? FOOTAGE IS SHOWN OF THE CONFEDERATION FORMING ON RAW. "ENTER SANDMAN" BY METALLICA HITS AS MADDOGG AND KING KILLER COME OUT. Coachman:"We've got more tag team action between two of the more hated groups in the TWF including this newly formed faction". A RING OF FIRE BUILDS ON THE ENTRANCE RAMP AS THE GATES OF HELL's MUSIC HITS. NAILS AND PAPA SHANGO COME OUT WITH PAUL BEARER. Heenan:"What a horrible night is was for the Gates of Hell on RAW"! Coachman:"It was the end of the career of Jake "The Snake" Roberts but what a way to go out"! King Killer and Maddogg vs. Nails and Papa Shango The Gates of Hell seemed to be having problems early as Nails and Shango didn't appear to be on the same page. On the other hand, Maddogg and King Killer worked like a well oiled machine. They punished Nails for much of the match, not allowing a tag to be made. Maddogg caught Nails with a big superkick to get a 2 and a half count. But Maddogg became frustrated when he kicked out and then the match broke out with all 4 men in the ring. Maddogg was then inadvertently hit in the face with a big boot by King Killer. Shango occupied King Killer as Nails used a combination of a sambo and german suplex to pin Maddogg. Match Time: 12:30 Coachman:"Well it hasn't been a great night for the Confederation. First, Duke Williams fails to qualify for King of the Ring and now this". Heenan:"And suddenly all seems well with the Gates of Hell. Paul Bearer can put this back together". FOOTAGE IS SHOWN FROM THE EARLIER ATTACK BY ELECTRIC COMA AND TAJIRI ATTACKING KANE AND STRIFE. TAJIRI's JAPANESE THEME HITS AND HE COMES OUT. Coachman:"Hardcore title is gonna be on the line as Tajiri is apparently in Mr. McMahon's back pocket". Heenan:"Oh come on Coach, he just wanted a bigger oppurtunity in the TWF and look at this, he's got the oppurtunity to be Hardcore champion". TWF Hardcore Title Match Challenger... Yoshihiro Tajiri vs. Strife Tajiri came right into the ring with a kendo stick but Strife was ready. Strife was using his big size advantage to dominate Tajiri until Electric Coma came out and the 2 did a number on Strife. But then Kane came out and hit Coma with a chokeslam as Tajiri quickly got out of harms way. Kane and Strife gave a long look at each other across the ring until Strife grabbed the Hardcore title and walked away. Heenan:"Have these two formed some sort of alliance? They're sure pickin' the wrong group as enemies"! Coachman:"Can Strife trust Kane? Or vice versa"? PRIOR TO COMMERCIAL..... BACKSTAGE.... CHRISTIAN IS SHOWN WALKING OUT OF THE ARENA. HE COMES BY DREW BLOOD's DRESSING ROOM AND SEES THE OPEN CONTRACT. HE NOTICES EDGE's NAME ON IT, TAKES A PENCIL AND ERASES IT! HE THEN WRITES HIS OWN NAME ON IT! Heenan:"What's he doing"? OTHER SIDE OF ARENA Okerlund:"Okay guys, I'm here at this time with the ninth wonder of the world Chyna. Now Chyna, on RAW Vince McMahon set up an attack on you by Xstasy. Do you think you should've just joined his alliance"? Chyna:"Are you kidding? There's no way I'll ever join his alliance and Xstasy, your day is coming too". COMMERCIAL..... A COMMERCIAL FOR CHEF BOYARDEE IS SHOWN. RETURN FROM BREAK.... X-FACTOR's MUSIC BY CRACKER HITS AS ALBERT COMES OUT AND THE KING OF THE RING LOGO AGAIN IS SHOWN. Coachman:"This will be our fourth King of the Ring qualifying match tonight as X-Factor's big gun is on his way out". HARPER BANE's MUSIC HITS Heenan:"Well Albert is huge but this guy's unique style could be what it takes to beat him". King of the Ring Qualification Match Albert vs. Harper Bane This turned out to be an exciting contest. Bane however, came out with the right approach. He hit Albert with a variety of moves that amazed the crowd. He then caught an unexpecting Albert with a jumping roundhouse and went for the cover. Albert got a shoulder up at the last possible second. A determined Bane seemed to wake up a sleeping giant. Bane bounced off the ropes but Albert was ready and caught him sqaure in the mouth with a scissors kick. It hit with a sickening thud. Albert then picked Bane up and planted him with the "Baldo Bomb" to win it. Match Time: 4:11 Heenan:"Two moves! Two moves is all it took for Albert to put an end to that threat"! Coachman:"It looked like we were gonna see Harper Bane pull off the upset but that goes to show how tough Albert is". "TRUST" BY MEGADEATH HITS AS THE TWF TRON SHOWS AN IMAGE OF THE AMERICAN FLAG BURNING. A BIG MASKED MAN COMES OUT. Heenan:"What is this"? Coachman:"Well we saw this image on RAW and this is a strange man who is known as Dr. William Birkin". William Birkin:( in a very eerie voice)"I know you all want to know why I'm here. My name is Dr. William Birkin and I am America's worst nightmare. You see, I used to be an experimental scientist for the the United States Government until a special project they assigned to me backfired and destroyed my face forever. As a result, I lost my job, my wife and my future, I saw this American hero Hardcore Patriot and decided to take my frustrations out on him. But I'm not done with you yet Patriot, or America for that matter, so watch your back"! HE PUTS THE MIC DOWN AND LEAVES TO A SHOWER OF BOOS. Coachman:"What a disturbing individual". Heenan:"You got that right". VAL VENIS' MUSIC HITS Coachman:"Earlier tonight, we saw Val Venis go to Mr. McMahon in frustration and earn a spot in the vacant Intercontinental title situation. But if he's in, where does that leave the man he's facing tonight"? AHMED WALKER's MUSIC HITS AND HE AND TORRIE WILSON MAKE THEIR WAY TO THE RING. Heenan:"He may be on a roll but I think his luck's gonna run out tonight". Val Venis vs. Ahmed Walker This was a good matchup and good experience for the young Walker. Walker made several mistakes early as Val turned them into a russian leg sweep and a jumping knee drop combo. Venis then hooked Walker in a fisherman suplex but Walker was able to kick out. Walker then ducked a clothesline attempt and hit Val with a samoan drop. He then whipped him in and put him down with a powerslam. With the crowd firmly behind him, Walker took a chance. He sent Venis to the corner and went for a jumping splash. But when Venis moved out of the way, he hit face first on the post and fell backwards. Seizing the oppurtunity, Val went up top and hit Walker with the "Money Shot" to get the 1-2-3. Match Time: 4:38 Coachman:"So a big win for Venis but a valiant effort by Walker. He's got a tremendous future ahead". Heenan:"But what about Venis? This guy's as good as anyone on the TWF roster. Reminds me so much of my days managing Rick Rude". THE TWF REWIND SHOWS CHRIS MICHAELS MAKING A CHALLENGE TO HIS BROTHER SHAWN FOR KING OF THE RING. "SEXY BOY" HITS AS SHAWN MICHAELS COMES OUT. Coachman:"Well here comes the showstopper and we expect to hear an answer to that challenge". Michaels:"Now I know you can hear me little bro, so listen up. Let me get this straight. You attacked me at Evil Intentions because I abandoned you over fifteen years ago to become a wrestler? You heard the scouts back then when they said you weren't ready. And don't forget who helped you through tough times and taught you most of the moves you knew. So you want me in a match at King of the Ring? Well little bro, you got it"! Heenan:"He's accepted"! Michaels:"You wanna show everyone you're better than me? In just a few weeks time, you're gonna find out like everyone else has why they call me the showstopper, the main event and the Heartbreak Kid"! "SEXY BOY" HITS AGAIN AS MICHAELS LEAVES. Coachman:"So there ya have it. It's gonna be brother versus brother at King of the Ring"! Heenan:"Your brother can beat you Shawn and he's gonna prove it"! PRIOR TO COMMERCIAL..... HARDY BOYZ' DRESSING ROOM.... Jeff Hardy:"Man, it would be awesome to win King of the Ring". Matt Hardy:"I know, hey we're both in the tournament ya know". Jeff:"Yeah, hey what if we end up having to face each other"? Matt:"Then may the best man win". THEY KNOCK FISTS TOGETHER. OTHER SIDE OF THE ARENA..... CHRIS BENOIT KNOCKS ON TRAVIS WAKEMAN's DRESSING ROOM DOOR. TRISH ANSWERS AND OPENS IT JUST A CRACK. BENOIT TRIES TO FORCE HIS WAY IN. Trish:"Stop it"! WAKEMAN COMES TO THE DOOR. Wakeman:"What's the problem"? Benoit:"We're next"! BENOIT WALKS AWAY. Coachman:"Wakeman and Benoit versus The Game and the rattlesnake is next"! KING OF THE RING PROMO IS SHOWN. RETURN FROM BREAK..... CHRIS BENOIT's MUSIC HITS Coachman:"Big tag match here fans as you see the Crippler on his way to the ring". TRAVIS WAKEMAN's MUSIC BY WESTSIDE CONNECTION HITS AS HE APPEARS WITH TRISH. Heenan:"Well not too long ago Coach, these two had a bitter rivalry. Not only that, but they're paired against each other in the King of the Ring qualifying round"! "THE GAME" BY MOTORHEAD HITS AS TRIPLE H STEPS OUT WITH STEPH AND POURS WATER OVER HIS HEAD, SPITTING SOME OUT AS HE WALKS TOWARDS THE RING. Coachman:"Well they'll have to co-exist against the alliance here tonight". "STONE COLD" STEVE AUSTIN's MUSIC BY DISTURBED HITS AS HE COMES OUT CARRYING THE TWF TITLE. Heenan:"Well here comes the TWF champion and right after this match Coach, we're gonna hear Linda McMahon's big announcement"! Travis Wakeman and Chris Benoit vs. "Stone Cold" Steve Austin and Triple H This one belonged to the alliance as Austin and The Game were too much. Much of the match took place outside the ring as Triple H choked Benoit with an electrical cord and Austin rammed Wakeman into the announce table. The fight carried backstage as referee Earl Hebner allowed a lot. Wakeman located a trash can and hit both men with it. But moments later, Triple H lowblowed Benoit and Pedigreed him on the arena floor! The fight then went up and down the aisle with all 4 men getting in good shots. But in the ring, Austin caught Wakeman with a spinebuster and went for the cover. Benoit ascended the top rope and came flying off with his big headbutt but Triple H pulled Austin off and Benoit struck Wakeman! Triple H then tossed Wakeman out of the ring and delivered the Pedigree to Wakeman. Austin, the legal man in the match, then covered Wakeman as Hebner counted the 3. Match Time: 11:10 Heenan:"Benoit has just cost Wakeman the match"! Coachman:"Well Wakeman doesn't look to happy as he's staring a hole through Benoit".
