SMW Agression

August 7, 2002

Nashville, Tennessee

The show begins without any pyro or loud music. The cameras scan the small arena containing approximately 1,800 fans and then focuses on Al Snow in the ring.

Al Snow: "Hello everyone and welcome to SMW Aggression. Every month we will feature exciting action completely live. When the TWF talent committee asked me to be a trainer for SMW, I was not too happy. Of course I love working with young talent, but basically everyone was saying, "Al Snow, you're not good enough." FINE! Beginning tonight, I take this opportunity to stick it to the TWF! They didn't want me, I don't want them. I am now the official commissioner of SMW. I promise to bring solid in ring action each and every month. One thing many people have been craving is good old fashion wrestling with "new school" attitude, so without further delay...I present to you SMW Aggression."

Dan Wilson (SMW's new play by play man): "Once again, welcome to SMW Aggression. I am the voice of SMW, Dan Wilson. Earlier tonight, Al Snow announced that SMW will have two major titles, the SMW championship and the SMW tag team championships. Those two titles will be decided tonight. Lets take it to the ring."

SMW Title tournament match

Lenny Lane vs. Michael Modest vs. Christopher Daniels

A classic high flying match featured a new comer, Lenny Lane. Lane nearly stole the match but was knocked out of action by a Michael Modest spike piledriver off the apron and onto the concrete floor. However, it was Daniels who was successful in this tournament match, using a figure four leglock to make Modest submit.

Backstage Interview

Interviewer: "Fans, tonight I am joined by SMW trainers Dave Taylor and Fit Finley. Gentlemen, this is certainly a great opportunity for two retired wrestlers. I would...

Finley(interrupting): "Who said we are retired?"

Taylor: "That's right, we may not wrestle as often as we used to, but we can still go. In fact tonight there is a three way competition for the tag team titles, but I think we can beat all three teams."

Finley: "Dave, I think we have enough stroke in SMW to make that a four way match. Tell the kids that their lesson begins in about 90 minutes."

SMW Title tournament match

Maven vs. Paul Diamond vs. The Patriot

Paul Diamond, another SMW trainer proved that the old guys can still go. Diamond over powered Maven early in the match. At times, it seemed like Diamond was toying with the youngster. However, Paul Diamond would taste defeat at the hands of the Patriot after Maven recovered to suprise Diamond with a dropkick. Patriot took advantage of Diamond's dazed state and hit him with his Patriot Missile from the top rope for the 1, 2, 3.

SMW Title tournament match

Loki vs. Shannon Moore vs. Essa Rios

Once again, three high flyers saw action with their eyes on the prize. However, this match did not feature as many aerial moves as expected. Loki did his best to prove that he has some of the stiffest kicks in the business. In fact, his kicks completely shut down Shannon Moore's offense. At one point, Moore attempted a superkick on Rios but crumbled to the mat after his left knee gave out. While Moore laid on the mat for the rest of the match, Loki was able to pin Rios using a small package.

Dan Wilson: "Loki advanced but the story here is the apparent knee injury to Shannon Moore."

Only mere seconds later, Loki returned to the ring to work over Moore's knee with a chair. He only stopped his attack when Essa Rios chased him away from ring side.

Wilson: "I cannot believe the disgusting actions of Loki tonight."

SMW Title tournament match

Bull Buchanan vs. RC Haas vs. Monty Brown

Bull Buchanan completely avoided action during this match up. Meanwhile, Brown and Haas battled for nearly ten minutes with several near falls. Bull finally entered the ring when both men executed clotheslines simultaneously and landed in a heap in the middle of the ring. Buchanan pinned Haas for what Dan Wilson and many fans in attendance called a cheap victory.

Wilson: "So there you have it...four men have advanced. Lets take a look at the second round matchups. Loki will face Bull Buchanan and The Patriot will face Christopher Daniels. We will see those matches shortly, but up next is a battle royal. Al Snow promised to showcase as many talented wrestlers as possible and he delivers in this match."

Battle Royal

This battle royal was a "Who's Who" of independent stars. The participants in this struggle included trainer Bobby Eaton, non roster invitees Rip Rogers and Big Boss Man and developmental stars Spencer Hollywood, Lance Cade, Ron Waterman, Shelton Benjamin, Damian Steele and Keiji Sakoda. The winner of this battle royal turned out to be Rip Rogers, last eliminating Lance Cade.

Wilson: "A great accomplishment for Rip Rogers. He came here to earn a contract. After seeing what this journey man can do, I certainly hope he gets a chance to shine in SMW."

SMW Title tournament match

Loki vs. Bull Buchanan

Buchanan had a clear height and weight advantage but this match did not end the way the big man would have wanted. It became clear that Buchanan was not ready for competition. He ran out of gas around the six minute mark! Loki took advantage of Buchanan's lack of energy and hit him with a vicious spin kick to advance to the finals.

Wilson: "Loki took a beating until Buchanan ran out of gas. But I can guarantee Loki will be ready for the big main event. Also, during the match I was informed that Shannon Moore would not seek medical attention and refused to leave the building. I'm not sure what that is all about."

Backstage

Bull Buchanan is confronted by Bobby Eaton.

Bobby Eaton: "Bull, what I just saw out there was total crap. You ought to be ashamed of yourself. With all the potential you have it is a shame. But right now, you are a total bust. I have no choice but to recommend to Al Snow that you be terminated."

Bull Buchanan: "Now wait a minute. Yeah, I am out of shape but I also haven't been given an in ring opportunity in months. How about we make a deal. Give me one month to get back into shape. At next month's Aggression, if I can't beat you one on one, I will leave this business."

SMW Title tournament match

The Patriot vs. Christopher Daniels Both wrestlers did everything they could to gain an advantage early on. But every possible counter was used. Frustration could be seen on Daniels face and eventually he resorted to cheating, using a low blow to slow Patriot down. Patriot did make a comeback but his Patriot Missile did not find the mark later in the match. Daniels slapped on the figure four leglock to set up a Loki vs. Christopher Daniels ladder match for the SMW title.

Four way match for the Tag Team titles

DaveTaylor and Fit Finley vs. Rob Conway and Nick Dinsmore vs. Simon Diamond and Johnny Swinger vs. Mike Sanders and Mark Jindrak

The two newest teams to SMW, Sanders and Jindrak and Simon and Swinger were odds on favorites to bring home the tag team titles but it did not work out that way. Sanders and Swinger squared off outside the ring and Jindrak and Diamond battled all the way back to the locker room. This fierce brawling left the SMW trainers in the ring with the trainees. Just as expected, the team of Conway and DInsmore wanted a fair fight. However, Taylor and Finley did anything they could to gain an advantage including Finley decking the referee when Conway seemed close to getting a decision over Taylor. With their backs against the wall, Conway and Dinsmore fought back with moves taught to them by their trainers. As the referee recovered, Dinsmore held Finley up as Conway launched himself off the ropes for a flying clothesline to become the tag team champions.

Main Event

Ladder Match for the SMW title

Loki vs. Christopher Daniels

Once again the fans were treated to a classic match. At first it was a clean mat war but once the ladder became involved things got brutal. A shot to the face with the ladder busted Daniels open. Loki hit Daniels with a spin kick and quickly began to climb the ladder. However, he climbed so quickly that he lost his footing. Loki's leg became caught between two rungs of the ladder and remained suspended upside down for quite some time. Eventually Daniels pushed Loki and the ladder over with Loki's knee absorbing major impact. Daniels did not waste any time in slapping on the figure four leg lock. Soon after, Daniels let go and set up the ladder. Loki used every ounce of strength to regain his feet. He pushed over the ladder. Daniels flipped over the ladder and over the top rope to the floor. Loki had a free shot at grabbing the belt. It took him a long time to get within arms reach. However, something happened that was not anticipated. Shannon Moore returned to the ring with a chair. His first shot knocked Loki off the ladder but Moore was not done working Loki over with the chair. A bloody and battered Christopher Daniels climbed the ladder and grabbed the title to become the first SMW champion.

Dan Wilson: "Unbelievable! Christopher Daniels has done it! He survived 18 minutes of hell. This is the man who will be the main focus of Aggression for many months to come."

Christopher Daniels (out of breath, covered with blood): "What you saw tonight is only the tip of the iceberg. I promise one thing, you have not seen the best of the Fallen Angel. (he wipes some blood off of his face) Next time, the blood shed will be my opponent's".
