SMW Aggression

Nashville, Tennessee

June 22, 2004

(The show begins with the traditional SMW Aggression video. Once the video ends, Dan Wilson and James Robinson are seen sitting at their announce position.)

Dan Wilson: Welcome ladies and gentlemen to this edition of SMW Aggression. I am Dan Wilson, and sitting next to me is my broadcast colleage, James Robinson.

James Robinson: Hello folks, and boy do we have a show for you. Tonight, you will see Xavier defend the Television Championship, as well as the debut of Chris Sabin here in SMW.

Dan Wilson: That is true James, but before we get to all of that, we have a video message from SMW President, Joe Diano. Now folks, we, just like all of you, have not seen this yet. We have no clue what this message is about, or why Mr. Diano is not here in person to deliver this message, but we are about to find out. Roll the footage guys.

(Joe Diano is shown sitting in his office, but ironically, the SMW logo that is usually seen behind him is not in view)

Joe Diano: Hello ladies and gentlemen, for those of you who do not know, my name is Joe Diano, the President of Smoky Mountain Wrestling. Over the last few weeks, SMW has seen the appointment of a Commissioner and a Director of Authority, being Austin Plavljanich and Joe Corey respectively. The main reason for the appointment of a Commissioner was so that there would be someone to perform the day-to-day activities of running this promotion, be it booking the shows or making matches, that was what I brought him here for. Once I saw that Mr. Plavljanich was starting to enjoy his power just a little too much, I decided to bring in someone who could keep him in check, and that was what led to the appointment of Joe Corey as the Director of Authority. It is only now that I realize that with these two men jockeying for the position of control, there is no need for me to play babysitter to them. That is why I have decided to temporarily step down as the President of SMW. I am doing this, because I have decided that now is as good a time as any to prepare to live my life's dream. All of my life, I have fantasized about what it would be like to one day step into that ring and perform for all of you fans. That is why I have talked to the trainers of SMW, and they have agreed to train me to become a professional wrestler. I have decided to keep Austin Plavljanich on as the Commissioner, but I have also decided to dissolve the position of Director of Authority. Now, before Mr. Plavljanich becomes too excited, I have dissolved that position because I have decided to name Joe Corey as my successor, making him the new Interim President of Smoky Mountain Wrestling. With that said, I would like to thank all of SMW's employees, and more importantly the SMW fans, for all of your support during this time of my life. And I promise you, I will be back in that ring soon, and I will make all of you proud. Thank you.

(The scene then returns to ringside.)

Dan Wilson: Can you believe that, Joe Diano has decided to leave SMW in order to return as a wrestler?

James Robinson: I give him a lot of credit, and another man I give credit to is the man who is standing by out back, Matt Stryker. Matt, last week, you went to a time limit draw with Xavier. What is going through your mind knowing that you will not be getting another shot tonight?

Matt Stryker: James, last week, I would have given anything for a couple more minutes against Xavier. Then I come here this week, and I don't even get a chance at him again. This is a travesty of justice, and I am going to prove to the world tonight that I should get that shot. When I am done with my match tonight, there will be no choice but to give me the rematch I rightfully deserve.

James Robinson: And with that, it is time for our first match of the night.

Dan Wilson: That's right, and it features two men who are also disappointed that they are not in a rematch tonight either, the former Tag Team Champions, Simon Diamond and Johnny Swinger.

Kronik vs. Diamond and Swinger

Johnny Swinger and Brian Clark started things off with a collar and elbow tie up. After putting Clark in a side headlock, Swinger was sent off the ropes, only to hit a big shoulder block, sending Clark on his back holding his head in some pain. Swinger pulled Clark to his feet and set him up for a suplex. Swinger picked him up and held him up for about 30 seconds before dropping Clark hard on his back. Swinger then tagged in Diamond who went on a rampage on Clark, seeing him on the ground, Diamond immediately began choking the life out of the man formerly known as "Adam Bomb". Clark was in some deep trouble when Adams burst into the ring and clobbered Diamond with a clothesline. Adams dragged Clark to their corner and tagged himself in. After getting into the ring, Adams caught Diamond again with a clothesline before kicking him in the gut and planting him with a DDT that sat him straight up on his head. Adams rolled over and hooked the leg for the 1......2...., but Swinger got in and broke up the count. Diamond was on his feet and Adams bounced off the ropes when out of nowhere, Swinger and Diamond hit the "Problem Solver" and Diamond hooked the leg for the 1.....2....3 as Swinger prevented Clark from making the save.

Winners: Diamond and Swinger

James Robinson: That's a big win for Diamond and Swinger, who are looking to get back into the hunt and regain their titles.

Dan Wilson: That they are James. Folks, we will be right back, don't go away, because we have a special interview coming up next.

Commercial Break

(Anchorman, starring Will Farrell, coming to theatres July 9th)

(Jennie Finch is standing in the ring with a microphone.)

Jennie Finch: Ladies and gentlemen, it is my honor to introduce to you, the newest member of the Smoky Mountain Wrestling roster, Max Ogden.

(Max's music hits and he makes his way to the ring.)

Max, let me be the first one to welcome you here to SMW. What are your thoughts at this very moment.

Max Ogden: First off, thank you Jennie for that warm welcome. I am so happy to be here in SMW, this has been a lifelong dream for me.

Finch: To start off Max, why don't you tell these fans a little about yourself and where you come from?

Ogden: Well, as you all know, my name is Max Ogden. When I was three years old, my father died, and that was something that has affected me my entire life. Having been so young, there aren't too many things I remember about my dad, but one of the things I do remember was that he had a real love for wrestling. Every weekend, he would sit me on the couch with him, and we would watch wrestling, no matter who was on. I never saw my dad happier than those times that we spent together watching the greats that occupied this ring.

Finch: That must have been a really hard time for you, having lost your father at such a young age, how did you find a way to cope with all of that?

Ogden: I have to tell you, it wasn't easy. It took me a couple of years to realize that my dad was gone and he was never coming back. My mom would always tell me that dad was with me, but being so young, that didn't make any sense to me. It wasn't until I hit my early teenage years that I finally found a way to get through all of the pain. That is when I discovered the world of Rap. I was able to take all of my emotions and channel them into my music, and that was the best way for me to get rid of all the anger and sadness that I felt.

Finch: What made you decide that you wanted to become a wrestler?

Ogden: I always knew that whatever I decided to do in my life, I wanted my father to be able to look down at me and be proud. Like I said before, my father was a big wrestling fan, and I couldn't think of anything that would make him prouder than to see me one day become the Heavyweight Champion.

Finch: That is a pretty large goal you have set for yourself. How do you plan to achieve it?

Ogden: I believe in putting one hundred percent into whatever I do in life. Be it my rap, wrestling, or anything else, I always give it my all. That is going to be no different in my quest to the championship. I think that it is time for someone new to lead wrestling into the future, and that person is going to be me.

(Shannon Moore's music hits, and he comes out to the ring with the SMW Championship belt draped over his shoulder. Neither Max Ogden or Jennie Finch seems to have any idea why the champ has come to the ring.)

Finch: Ladies and gentlemen, we have been joined by the SMW Champion, Shannon Moore. Shannon, may I ask why you have joined us?

Shannon Moore: You know, I was sitting out back, and I heard mention about my SMW Championship. Then I look at the screen, and I see someone I have never seen before, talking about how they are going to take this belt.

Ogden: I didn't mean anything by it. I just...

Moore: Let me say what I came out here to say. I heard what you said, and I came out here to... welcome you to SMW.

(Moore extends his hand to Ogden, who accepts it.)

I have heard of your story before you came to SMW, and I have to say that it is an inspiration. Any time you want to achieve your goal at winning this title, you let me know. I would be glad to put the title up against you.

Ogden: That is very grateful Shannon, but I want to earn what I get here, and I believe in paying my dues first.

("Always" hits and Commissioner Austin Plavljanich comes out with a microphone, followed by Recon Rage, Spencer Hollywood, and Steve Bradley.)

Austin Plavljanich: Well well, it looks like you two are forgetting that I am the one who runs things around here. Mr. Ogden, I know you are new here, so I will introduce myself. I am Austin Plavljanich, the Commissioner of SMW. And I am going to let you know something that Mr. Moore seems to have forgotten, and that is that I make the matches around here. And seeing that you two are hitting it off so well, and that Interim President Joe Corey is not here tonight due to a RAW committment, I have decided to book a tag team main event. Tonight, in that ring you are standing in, Spencer Hollywood and Steve Bradley will team up to take on the SMW Champion, Shannon Moore, and his tag team partner, making his SMW debut, Max Ogden!

(The crowd goes crazy as Ogden gets a huge smile on his face, realizing that he is going to have his first SMW match tonight.)

Commercial Break

(Promotional video showing the Rob Van Dam/Ultimo Dragon match at TWF Payback, brought to you by PrimeTime.)

Dan Wilson: We are back ladies and gentlemen, and what an announcement we just heard. Tonight, not only will you fans see the debut of Chris Sabin, but as we just learned, Max Ogden will also make his SMW debut tonight, when he teams up with SMW Champion Shannon Moore to face Spencer Hollywood and Steve Bradley!

James Robinson: And I know I for one am looking forward to that match. Shannon Moore got handed a victory on our last show, but that most likely won't be the case tonight. It is no secret that Austin Plavljanich doesn't want that title around Moore's waist, and tonight, he is sending his boys out to take him down a peg or two. But now, it is time for our next match!

Dan Wilson: That's right James, because coming up next is the man who fell just shy of becoming the SMW Champion at No Remorse, "The Real Deal" Damien Steele, and the former TV Champion, Mike Modest.

Mike Modest vs. "The Real Deal" Damien Steele

Modest was looking to get back on the winning side of things, as he went right after the former #1 contender to the SMW Championship, Damien Steele. Modest was quick to hit a shot to the gut before catching Steele with a European uppercut. Modest bounced off the ropes but Steele quickly tackled him and unloaded on him with a set of right hands. Steele then made a wrong move and played to the crowd. Modest crawled to his feet and capitalized, hitting Steele with the "Natural Causes" and got the 1....2....3, taking what seemed to be a very even match.

Winner: Mike Modest

Dan Wilson: What a victory by Modest, who looks like he is ready to get back into the hunt for the TV Championship.

James Robinson: And speaking of the Television Championship, Xavier will be putting that title on the line, and that match is coming up next.

Commercial Break

(The season premiere of Nip Tuck, Tuesday June 22 at 10 pm on FX)

James Robinson: Welcome back to Aggression folks, and if you have just tuned in, boy have you missed one hell of a night!

Dan Wilson: That's right, so far tonight, we have seen three former champions return to their winning ways, as Mike Modest, Johnny Swinger, and Simon Diamond all picked up victories. Not only that, but Commissioner Austin Plavljanich has ordered Shannon Moore to team up with SMW newcomer Max Ogden to face his tag team of Steve Bradley and Spencer Hollywood. But now, we are set for our TV title match, so let's head back to the ring!

SMW Television Championship Match

Xavier vs. Mariner

Xavier did not take the rookie Mariner too lightly. Xavier and his cocky ways started the match catching a few right hands on Mariner, but the rookie shot back with a set of his own and Mariner bounced off the ropes and connected with a flying forearm that knocked Xavier to the mat. Mariner then began building steam, hitting a few more right hands before connecting with a kick to the gut and planting Xavier with a DDT. Mariner made the cover for the 1.....2.., but Xavier kicked out! Xavier climbed to his feet using the ropes and Mariner came in looking for a sledge, but Xavier got a shot to the gut in before connecting with the "X-Breaker". Xavier crossed arms and then flailed then out signaling the match was over and hooked the leg for a two count, but Mariner showed his resiliency by kicking out. Xavier then began getting in the ref's face explaining it was a 3. Xavier began trying to be a bit too aggressive and he hit a big powerbomb that shook the ring! Xavier then pulled a limp Mariner to his feet, kicked him in the gut and got him for another "X-Breaker" when somehow Mariner slipped off and used a small package to get the unexpected 1.......2......3.

Winner, and NEW SMW Television Champion: Mariner

James Robinson: Can you believe it? After just barely walking out of the SMW Arena last week with his title, Xavier has been upset by Mariner tonight on Aggression!

Dan Wilson: Hey partner, I have a question. Now that Xavier is no longer the champion, what do you think this does to Matt Stryker's challenge?

James Robinson: That's a very good point, and there is only one man who can answer that question.

Dan Wilson: One, or two?

Commercial Break

(NWA:TNA Impact!, Fridays at 3 pm on Fox Sports Net)

Dan Wilson: Folks, we are back here in the SMW Arena, and in case you missed it, here is a look at what happened right before we went to break.

(A replay of the finish of the Xavier/Mariner match is shown and the crowd still seems to be in a buzz about what happened.)

James Robinson: And Dan, know how you asked me about what this would mean for Matt Stryker? Well, I was informed over the break that a decision should be announced soon regarding the state of the Television Championship.

Dan Wilson: Well, here comes the man that seems to be on the outside looking in, Matt Stryker, who is about to be in action in the first of our SMW debuts here tonight.

"The Future" Chris Sabin vs. Matt Stryker

Sabin, in his debut with SMW, put on a good showing. Stryker though, was slacking a bit and wasn't putting forth much energy at all on trying to put on a good match. After a big back body drop, Sabin was in firm control when he locked in a reverse chin lock. Stryker somehow climbed to his feet and hit a few elbows to the gut before bouncing off the ropes and Sabin turned him inside out with a beautiful clothesline. Sabin then pulled Stryker to his feet and dropped him with a beautiful German suplex with a nice bridge getting the 1.......2...., but Stryker was able to kick out. Stryker then began fighting back with some right hands but Sabin quickly put an end to any kind of comeback with a knee to the gut before dropping Stryker with the "Future Shock" to put Matt Stryker away for the easy 1......2.....3.

Winner: Chris Sabin

Dan Wilson: Well, it looks like the future is now, and Chris Sabin is taking full advantage. If you ask me, Sabin will be a welcome addition to the SMW roster. We will be right back folks, but don't go anywhere, because it is just about main event time.

Commercial Break

(TWF Raw, featuring Interim SMW President "The Show" Joe Corey, only on Spike TV)

James Robinson: We are back ladies and gentlemen, and before we get to our main event, we are being told that an announcement is about to be made regarding the SMW Television Championship. So I am assuming that we are going to be going backstage to Commissioner Plavljanich.

(The scene then changes to show Interim SMW President Joe Corey, who is live via satellite from backstage at a TWF Raw house show in Chicago, IL.)

Joe Corey: I hate to burst your bubble James, but this decision is something that is going to go over the Commissioner's head. First off, I would like to send my congratulations to the new SMW Television Champion, Mariner. Now, I realize that earlier tonight, Matt Stryker stated that he wanted another shot at Xavier. Now, there is only one problem with that scenario, and that is that Xavier is no longer the TV Champion. Add in the fact that Chris Sabin made his SMW debut tonight with a win over Stryker, and I see three men that all have a case to be the #1 Contender. That is why I have decided that starting next week, we are going to have a mini-tournament to see who is going to face Mariner for the title. Next week, Matt Stryker and Chris Sabin will face each other again, and Mariner will have a night off from defending his title on Aggression. The week after, the winner of that match will face Xavier, and the winner of that match will go on to face the Television Champion, Mariner, later on in the night. This, in my opinion, is the best way to give everyone involved a chance to prove that they are the better man. Now, that is enough from me for one night, because it is main event time. I only wish that I was there to see this match in person.

Dan Wilson: What an announcement by Interim President Corey, but like he said, it is main event time, so let's go to the ring.

Shannon Moore/Max Ogden vs. Spencer Hollywood/Steve Bradley

Spencer Hollywood starts the match off with the debuting Max Ogden, who takes down Hollywood with an arm drag after a lock up. Hollywood gets up angry and charges at Ogden, who takes him down again. Hollywood quickly rolls to his corner and tags in Steve Bradley, and Ogden tags in the SMW Champion, Shannon Moore. Moore locks up with Bradley, who sends the champion to the mat, simply overpowering Moore. Shannon then uses his speed to get in a few quick shots at Bradley, and then he runs off the ropes, gaining momentum. However, as he approaches Bradley, he is sent over the top rope to the arena floor. It is then that Bradley goes over to Max Ogden and slaps him across the face. Ogden enters the ring, and the referee tries his best to get him back to the apron. It is then that Recon Rage runs down to the ring and starts to put the boots to Shannon Moore. He picked him up and bodyslammed him on the thin mat that is on the outside of the ring, and then sent him into the steel ring post. He then rolled Moore back into the ring. Hollywood and Bradley go on to dominate the champion for the next five or so minutes, and it looks like things are in hand, until Bradley starts to bad mouth the rookie Ogden. He turns around, only to be clotheslined to the mat by Moore. Both men start to crawl to their corners, and Hollywood runs to stop Moore from making the tag, but he is too late. Max Ogden runs into the ring and takes down Spencer Hollywood. Steve Bradley runs into the ring, and gets powerslamed to the mat. Shannon Moore then pulls Steve Bradley to the outside of the ring, and inside the ring, Max Ogden sets up Hollywood for an F5. It is then that Recon Rage jumps up onto the ring apron, and Max drops Hollywood and walks over to Rage. In the background, Spencer Hollywood is seen getting to his feet, and it seems that Max Ogden has made his second rookie mistake. But as Hollywood charges at him, he sidesteps, and Hollywood and Rage collide. Rage falls to the ground, and Hollywood turns into a boot from Ogden, who then hits the Train Wreck to pick up the win for his team, and his first in SMW.

Winners: Shannon Moore/Max Ogden

Dan Wilson: Do you believe this ladies and gentlemen?! Max Ogden has just picked up his first victory in SMW, and he did it at the expense of one of the best tag teams in SMW, and the Commissioner as well!

(Shannon Moore remains on the outside of the ring, still hurting from the beating he took in the match. Inside the ring, Max Ogden is soaking up the atmosphere of his first victory. However, out of nowhere, he is attacked from behind by a man who looks to be about 6'9". He picks up Ogden and drills him to the mat with a thunderous powerbomb. The man looks up, and has a wicked smile on his face.)

James Robinson: Oh my god, that is Violent P, I didn't know he was here in SMW. I heard rumors, but nothing was confirmed!

Dan Wilson: Well, it seems that the rumors are true, because he just laid out Max Ogden here in the SMW Arena! We will try to get some more information on this situation folks, and we will report anything we learn to you next week! On behalf of James Robinson, this is Dan Wilson saying goodnight from the SMW Arena.
