Our friendship goes as far back as I can remember, as he was one of the first people I was exposed to in the Waterside neighborhood in Shreveport. Of the few of us back in the Waterside days, Daniel had to be the craziest. A black belt in Tae Kwon Do, Daniel loved to watch movies that were packed with violence, and he always loved to root for the bad guys. He was almost like the Johnny Cash to my life, the first legitimate bad ass to enter my life. This sure is saying a lot, when you consider that this kid was only a year older than me.
Lately, Daniel has shi. Daniel is a proud "Dead Head", or fan of rock band The Grateful Dead. The band is one of the longest consistently touring American bands in American music history, and still has quite a loyal following of fans, some of which follow the band across the nation. Some of these fans have actually made a life of following the band sionce their glory days of the 60's. You should see the van Daniel drives. It is a 1975 Volkswagen Westfaila, which from the outside still looks like brand new. Breithaupt still lives here in Shreveport, and I still keep in touch with Breithaupt to this day. Daniel is now a drummer with numerous bands, one of the few reliable drummers in town. He can now be found doing gigs all across town.
