This is the fifth release in 989 Studios' series of snowboarding games for
the PlayStation. This version features an extreme, arcade style of play. It
has many of the old features found in the earlier releases and adds a few new
options. Fans of the Cool Boarder series will find some real-life
professional snowboarders to play that are new to Cool Boarders 2001, as well
as new courses for them to conquer. Players can also create their own
snowboarders in the game. There is an enhanced character customization
feature that allows players to set the height, weight, and appearance for
their boarder. The game also has a Pro Rider Challenge mode that allows
players to take on some of the sport's biggest names, including Jeremy Jones,
Tara Dakides, and Todd Richards. A split screen mode allows one-on-one action
for two players
