Knockout Kings is the first boxing game that I have played since Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out, my how the years have passed me. You can create your own players and create their combos and the way they throw their punches. Knockout Kings also has female boxers to keep us ladies interested. There is a career mode that teaches you combos and counterpunches on the heavy bag, along with Trainers and cut men to help you along. There are ring commentators from the real boxing experts Max Kellerman, Al Bernstein and Teddy Atlas. Your main referee is none other then Mills Lane. I like the fact that there are Fantasy Fights, which include Oscar De LaHoya, Sugar Rey Leonard, Ali, and Marciano. The fighters have very realistic looking faces but their bodies look very squares off and digital. So the graphics are good in some spots and bad in others. The fighting is very realistic and you don’t land every punch like some other games. Then again it’s not so difficult that you are not going to ever win. You can throw in some illegal moves like head-butts and elbows but Mills Lane will give you warnings. The ref will and can stop the matches if you’re gushing blood. There are four (4) different fighting styles that you can use. When you lose you lose skill points that really do hurt you. I really had a blast playing this game and the only reason its not rated E is because of the blood. Don’t want to scare the kiddies.
