BALTIMORE BLASTS BACK

STORM 0 2 1 0 3
Blast 1 2 2 1 6

BALTIMORE- It gets tougher and tougher to win on the road in the MISL. The Wave beat the Steamers in Milwaukee, the Kixx beat California in Philadelphia and the Chicago Storm traveled to Baltimore Saturday and lost 6-3, continuing a trend that saw all three MISL road teams lose on Saturday.

The match started with Chicago’s hero in last weeks game versus the Blast, Mark Ughy getting called for six men on the field, early in the first quarter, leading to a Baltimore Power Play and the first goal of the game. The Storm saw Baltimore jump out to a quick 1-0 score when Robbie Aristodemo beat the Storm’s Danny Waltman in only the second minute of play on the Baltimore Power Play. The Storm shut down the Blast for the remainder of the first quarter but were unable to score themselves until Gus Kartes blasted in Chicago’s first goal of the night, in the second quarter, to tie the game up at one a piece. It was Kartes’ fourth goal in five games and he was assisted by Matthew Stewart who notched four blocks in the game.

Baltimore native and Blast Forward P.J. Wakefield had not had a single point this season until this match up. In the second quarter Wakefield scored on a pass from Adauto Neto to put the Blast up 2-1. Once again the Storm countered, this time off of a pair of firsts. Chicago Forward Jorge Valle, had his first assist of the season off Bryon Alvarez’s first goal of the season to tie the game 2-2.

In the last minute of the first half, Denison Cabral put one in the back of the Storm net off of a quick pass from P.J. Wakefield. Storm Defender Lazo Alavanja managed to tie the game up 3-3 with his third goal of the season before Baltimore broke the game open.

In the third quarter, P.J. Wakefield struck again with an assist on both Joel Bailey’s and Carlos Garcia’s goals. Baltimore finished up the scoring with a solo goal be Lee Tschantret in the fourth to clinch the game. Chicago pulled keeper Danny Waltman to put in Novi as the sixth attacker but it was too little too late for the Storm, leaving them winless on the road in two attempts. It was only Chicago's second loss ever to Baltimore out of seven games played against the Blast. Chicago will try their luck on the road next week when they head to Philadelphia next Saturday to take on the Kixx.

The Storm’s next home game is Sunday, December 18th against the St. Louis Steamers at UIC Pavilion.
