Eric Young has lived a dream that so many wish to live. He has not only competed in a ACW ring, but has won the top prize in the Maritimes. The ACW heavy weight championship. Fans were delighted to have a respectable champion in Eric. He would put on a good clean match, entertain the crowd and would never break one of the ACW rules.
But all that came to a crashing halt when Showtime stepped into the ring against the ‘big man’ Kingman.
“When he slammed me to the mat, I knew I was injured” explained young. “The wind was knocked out of me, and the pain was incredible”. Although the young superstar had difficulties breathing, he continued the match eventually losing the championship to Kingman.
Young was later taken to hospital where he was told he had broken some ribs. “I can’t say I was surprised. I was in a lot of pain. But the fact I lost the ACW title to Kingman hurt me more that any broken rib did that night”.
Since his injury, Young has been in the gym, trying to get back into ring shape. “Everyday I get a bit stronger, and everyday I want Kingman more and more”. If Showtime is able to return healthy, he should be able to give Kingman a run for his money. But if Eric Young jumps back into the ring to soon, Kingman may turn the lights out for Showtime, and this time for good.
“You think he would have learned his lesson the first time,” explains Kingman. “I hurt him, and I took his belt. If Eric decides to come back early from his injury, I know I will single handily put him back on the shelf. But this time it will be different. This time he will be sucking his meals down through a straw, and sitting in a hospital in a body cast”.
The angry threats don’t scare Showtime.
“He can say all he wants. I’m not going to sit here and try to out talk Kingman. I do my talking in the ring, and I’m sure I’ll be getting the last laugh when I become a two time ACW champion!”
As the former champ stood and began to walk out, he stopped and looked back. “Just remember,” he said. “The show has just begun!”
An Inside Scoop on Flesh
At 6’1” and 276 pounds “of twisted steel and sex appeal”, Flesh has quickly climbed the ladder in ACW. Wherever he goes in the Maritimes, fans will stand and cheer to what may very well be a human super hero.
But long before Flesh was pounding opponents in the ring, he was on the other side. He was a fan. “I can say it all started back in the early 80's before I was a teenager. I was hooked on watching Saturday Night's Main Event's watching my icon at the time Hulk Hogan defending the WWF championship to any and all challengers like King Kong Bundy, Macho Man Randy Savage and the Iron Sheik.”
At 24 Flesh met Jay and Adam (the WWF’s Edge and Christian) and they had told him where to go for wrestling school. “I was trained by the best trainer in the area, Ron Hutchinson at Sully's gym in Toronto. Wrestling Class ran 4 days a week for 2 to 3 hours a day. We started with 3000 Hindu squats and then we ran up and down 7 flights of stairs 7 times in 45 minutes, and we finished by running 2 miles. Only then did we get in the ring and start taking bumps. Then we started working on locking up. That was about it for the first 4 weeks. We learned about every move to the wrestling industry some harder to learn than others, but we just kept practicing until we achieved perfection.”
Professionally, this has been a good year for Flesh. He was contacted to be the “Molson Exterminator” which was an advertising campaign that sent Flesh to fifteen different bars across Canada. He was also sent to the WWF Fan Access, where he helped to promote the Molson product, but also was able to sign many autographs. Speaking of the WWF, Flesh had a dark match in Montreal last month against another ACW star, Sinn. Since being called by the All Canadian Pro Wrestling, Flesh has made the ACW home. He enjoys touring around to the different venues, and enjoys performing even more when the crowds are into it.
As of now, Flesh is hot on the heels of Kingman for the ACW title. The title has slipped through his fingers several times due to Kingman’s cheating antics inside the ring. Flesh, and his fans know that it’s just a matter of time before “Brittany Spears” goes down for the 1-2-3.
